At midday, a man wearing a bright yellow armored robe and a notable crested helm moves into the Cordor square to stand outside the Commonwealth center - aside a path that sees much coming and going. After a moment, he begins to speak to those nearby in a powerful voice, clearly accustomed to doing so.
People of Cordor! Brothers and Sisters! Rejoice, for today I bring you good tidings and truth! Deliverance is at hand, and soon we shall know greater prosperity and peace than ever before!

I am Marcus Sembianus Aurelius, and I have come to share with you the answers I have found to many questions I have held in my heart. We see the strife about us. We see endless wars and divisions. We see evil things lurking in shadows, intent on stealing us away forever. We see Corellon of the elves, Moradin of the dwarves, Yondalla of the halflings and many other gods of other races, yet we could not find our own Father, our own Creator, one that would unite us as a people and give us purpose. But no more! I have found joyful truth, and I would share it with you all!
Amaunator, the Eternal Sun, Father of Humankind and Warden of Toril will soon ascend to zenith once again! As dawn rises to midday, so shall Lathander rise to Amaunator!
Our Father loves us! As Mystryl once sacrificed herself to preserve magic itself, and was reborn Mystra, so did Amaunator sacrifice to ensure humankind survived. And so he was reborn Lathander Dawnstar. Soon, he shall be whole and Amaunator once again!
We are His Children! Our Radient Father blessed us, that we may prosper wherever His gaze falls! Many have forgotten Him, but he never forgot us. He gave us Day, that we may measure time. He gave us Law, that we may live in harmony and build on our elders, and their elders. He watches and protects us, from the curse of undeath, from the ravages of fiends and the dangers of all things that lurk in darkness, scorned by His gaze!
Known that your doubts and fears are known to Him. Know that you are not alone in these. The coming change brings uncertainty, and even those of Lathander often discount the truth of Deliverance, for they fear the loss of purpose it implies. Brothers and Sisters, there is no need to fear, no need to doubt! In His Glorious Realm, all have purpose and all shall prosper! The poor shall know wealth, the hungry shall be sated and the fearful shall fear no more! Offer your prayers to Amaunator, the Eternal Sun! All shall know His splendor, but those who place their faith early shall be favored amongst us!

Sol Invictus! Deliverance Is At Hand!

*Somewhere off in the distance at the back of the square a red haired elf is heared laughing and seen clutching his sides and a nearby post to prevent him toppling into the water. After a few minutes he manages to regain somewhat of his composure and slowly, still partly doubled over manages to make it to safety on the other side of the bridge where is he is able to escape Cordor.*

Loynis takes one glance at the preacher then facepalms, he then walks back to the Chapel of Lathander and prays to a real deity.

a certain wild-elf after hearing this would remind herself to check the sanitarium in Caraigh and ask if any patients may have escaped recently.

Marcus regards the fire genasi for a long moment, his expression unreadable underneath the helmet but his reply comes in a cool, polite tone as if he considers Hashim's presence distasteful.
Hashim Hoios. I do not require such donations at present to spread His word. Should you wish to contribute to the coming Deliverence, I would refer such gifts to the church of Lathander. For efforts to aid the church of Lathander will ultimately bloom into a swifter Deliverance, of which all shall benefit.
And no doubt there are many in this city who have greater need for this coin still.
At this, Marcus seems to consider something for a moment.

Artum notes both the preacher and the interaction after between the two men but remains quiet, sitting near enough to overhear what transpires.
He looks around at the Dawnlord's followers to see their reaction, keeping a glance to the Cordor Guards also thinking this is sure to end badly for someone.

*Dawnmaster Llinyarrii, makes a face of distaste as he invokes Lathander's name in the same tone as the dead Netherese god*
Your god is dead heretic, Lathander is -very- much alive. We can gain our own donations we have no need of the words of a false prophet of a heretical belief. *she turns to look around at the people* Good people, let it be known, he does not speak for the Church of Lathander, nor is he welcomed by us, Amauntor is a -dead- Netherese god, Lathander is -very- much a living god of Faerun. *looks back at Marcus* If he wishes to learn the truth of who Lathander is... he's welcome to learn.
*she walks back to the Chapel to pray that the fool heretic does no harm with his preachings*

Marcus listens to the Dawnmaster as he does to all else who speak up. When she finishes he begins to reply. "Dawnmaster, with all respect due to your station, I did not.. " He then looks after her a long moment as she simply turns and flees before any response could be given. While Marcus' expression is mostly unreadable under the helmet, it would not be difficult to imagine him carrying a smirk. He then turns to those gathered again.
"Good people of Cordor. It seems the Dawnmaster has misunderstood the message I bring. In truth, I do not seek to spread the falsehood that Lathander is dead. Indeed, the Morninglord is alive and radient as he has been for countless mortal generations. I understand there may be a degree of confusion, even amongst those versed in the doctrine of the orthodox Lathanderite church, for it is only in recent years that Deliverance and the return of Amaunator has been revealed. A short period of time to release a belief that has held for many generations.
In truth, "the return of Amaunator" may not be an accurate description of Deliverence, as this would imply that Amaunator had ever departed. He has not. Amaunator reformed as Lathander not long after Karsus' Folly, the event that brought unimaginable destruction to the Netherese Empire. Since then, Lathander has been steadily rising to the day he would again be Amaunator. A day that will come soon.
People of Cordor, I would ask you to acknowledge the questions we all hold, and to find truth within. As we experience the turmoil, the strife and troubles in our lives, we often come to ask whether there is purpose to all this. We are often told to have hope, that tomorrow will be better. Yet rarely does such provide true answers or comfort. Why would tomorrow indeed be better? What will have changed?
I too struggled with these questions, and I have searched far for answers. Yet I have found true hope in Deliverance. Tomorrow will be a greater day, for we are one day closer to the re-ascension of Amaunator. One day closer to the reunification of our people under Our Radiant Father. One day closer to a great, golden age of glory and prosperity. Deliverance is inevitable. No matter how bleak things may seem, it -is- coming. -This- is what gives me comfort in dark times, good people. -This- is what drives me ever onward, against all challenges and obstacles I may face.
You feel this as well, my brothers and sisters. You have asked these questions of yourselves and of the gods, now more than ever. You have long felt it in the very essence of your soul, that something truly great and wonderful is coming, and it is that feeling that has you struggling ever onward. Even in the face of evil. Even in the knowledge that our lives are often so short. Even when at times it feels there is no purpose to our lives at all. You asked these questions, you had these doubts, but you ever carried the answer with you. Deliverance is coming. Our Father is rising once more. So do not fear, or doubt. A great and enduring age is coming for us all. "

Jess watches the performance from a nearby garden, hiding her rum sodden eyes from the grace of the Morninglord with more then a little bitterness. The rabid promise of imminent salvation does little to cheer her but the few ears that prick up amongst the common rabble do get her thinking...

*shakes her head with disgust as she happens on yet another 'sermon' of untruth, since she did not flee the last, seeing little point in arguing with an uneducated heretic*
My good people, this man does not speak of the "Morninglord" you know.... the god he claims is Lathander, is a DEAD Netherese god. Do not let his words fool you or persuade you otherwise, history says that Netherese were trouble, going so far as to destroy themselves. Who in their right mind would want to bring one of their gods back? The god he speaks of, Amauntor, is not Lathander, nor did he historically have the mercy and understanding of the Morninglord. He's known to squash creativity, something dear to the true Morninglord, stifle growth... another thing -very- dear to the true Morninglord. The Morninglord directs us to care for those less fortunate than the Church Members.
*she turns to Marcus*
Careful they don't decide to stone you. *raises a hand to her left cheek tracing a long scar from her cheek bone to ear* It can be quite painful. Morninglord's blessings, Marcus the Heretic, may you see the true path of Light one day.
*the Dawnmaster walks away, though not far, carefully concealing her distaste of the man*

Aylomen, on the other hand, observes the man's preaching with silent interest. His expression is curious, inquisitive, and he actively listens. Aylomen lingers in the rear of the crowd, and for the time being, does not approach the man.

After the Dawnmaster concludes her argumentation, Marcus takes a bowl from his pack and places it on the side of the nearby flowerbed. He calmy chants a short incantation in an ancient tongue, that some might recognize as Netherese, which causes the bowl to fill with clean water. He then lifts the bowl towards the sun and chants another prayer, the water taking on a soft golden glow.
A dead god cannot bestow his blessings. A dead god would not hear our prayers. A dead god would not speak to its followers of Deliverance.
Lathander is to Amaunator as a child is to man. Vibrant and youthful, with ambitions and uncertainties. Upon Deliverance, Lathander shall once again take up his old duties, as Father of Humankind and Warden of Toril. Idealism and youthful exuberance tempered by maturity and wisdom. Should the god of rebirth and growth, the very embodiment of these concepts, be ever stagnant? As all life grows and changes, so shall Lathander.
And to speak on Netheril. Indeed, in its last days the empire was a dark place. The hubris and arrogance of the empire's mages knew no bounds, thinking themselves greater than the gods, spurning the edicts of Amaunator and Divine Law. The one known as Karsus, a mortal wizard, sought to usurp the power of Mystryl. In his foolishness, Karsus unleashed a terrible calamity on the world that destroyed the majority of the Netherese Empire and caused untold destruction across our world. If not for the sacrifice of Mystryl, who would become Mystra, our world may have been destroyed altogether. If not for the sacrifice of Amaunator, who would become Lathander, who will be Amaunator once more, humankind would have been sundered entirely.
However, for its dark endings, Netheril endured for countless centuries and for much of that time it was a glorious place. Humankind was united and prosperous within its realm, and Amaunator guided us trough our days. While Netheril is lost, much of its culture and virtues can be found today, still. And under Amaunator's guidance, such an empire of splendor, prosperity and peace will again come to be.

*shakes her head with a sign*
You have it backwards, Marcus. How can a god as old as Toril herself, consort to Chauntea for eons, have once been another god? Your logic is flawed, you know just enough of Lathander to make dangerous assumptions. In your arrogance you deign to understand the will of the gods themselves? In this arrogance, with your very words, you place the Church of Lathander in grave danger. As to a dead god giving blessings? If that wasn't possible, The Black Hand's own priesthood could not have resurrected him after he was slain by Torm, so even that is a flaw in your logic.
If you honestly think the god of rebirth, renewal, creativity, growth, change... will become a stagnant rigid god of law, that is dead with good reason, then you're taking some pretty heavy leaps in logic. For Lathander is older that Amauntor.... and very different in his practices, teachings and dogma, so it follows he is not even related to the dead god, much less the dead god reborn. What do the two have in common? The sun, though Lathander focuses on the aspect of the sun that gives hope and nurtures life.
But go on, stand here preaching your untruths.... the -real- Church of the -real- god, Lathander, will continue serving the people and being of -real- assistance, bringers of hope to those that do the real work around Amia. I am done with this debate, however, I and the Church have much better things to do that are far more productive.

A certain blue haired mage, in wild looking colors of red, pink, black, and blue, steps up beside Marcus.
Well met again, Marcus.
She smiles encouragingly. A small golden sun-clip is pinned to her cloak. She stood by him during the rest of the sermon, in a supporting manner.

Two days after the elven victims of the Raven's Plague have been gathered and burned at sea, Marcus stands in front of one of the free merchant stalls in one of the larger markets in South District, wearing his ceremonial armored robe and crested helm. On the table behind him are placed a number of plates with a variety of dishes and drinks. Those familiar with Cordoran cuisine would note that not only are they all Cordoran in origin, created by local taverns and restaurants, but the ingredients used in them all originate from Cordoran farmers, ranchers, fishermen, brewers and vinyards as well.
As the sun rises to noon, and the sight and scent of the food is sure to have drawn investigation, Marcus motions those nearby to approach and gather around.
"My fellow citizens. My brothers and sisters. I am Marcus Sembianus Aurelius. Apostle of Amaunator. Come, and join me in the noontide prayer to our Radiant Father, and let us thank him for the bounty He bestows on us."
He offers those nearby written copies of the Hymn of Praise to Amaunator and the Prayer of Rejoicing, and its translation in common, before beginning to lead a chant of religious song. If he finds himself chanting alone, then he does so without hesitance.
Ave Amaunator, Sol Invictus
As the chant ends, Marcus raises his hands skywards towards the sun for a moment, in a gesture of piety and adoration. He then turns his gaze on the crowd once again.
His light and warmth falls on us all, and we prosper in it.
Today, I would speak to you of ongoing happenings. Of the regretful deaths in the neighborhood nearby. So many of elvenkind do suffer under this plague. Let us offer them our condolences, our support and our encouragement when we can, for would we not be thankful to receive such should our places be reversed? We, the sons and daughters of Amaunator hold great differences to the children of Corellon. Often, we do not understand their ways, distant as they may seem. But know that most value the same things that we do. They too value their lives and pleasures, their families and homes, their livelihoods and happiness. And countless times, our Tel'Quessir allies have stood with us against dark and terrible evils. This disease has been created to ravage elvenkind specifically, and we humans have shown great resiliance to its touch. As such, let us not be driven apart from one another, when we should stand together in courage and faith.
I know you may feel fear, and I know that words are easily spoken. In the face of suffering and death, they often fade from thought. Whenever I see yet another bird fall from the sky, or yet another dog struck with infection, I too feel a cold sting of fear to my heart. It is only natural to recoil from such wickedness. Yet such fear will never take hold of me. For I know that Our Radiant Father loves us all. And He is watchful. And He holds my soul, which can never be taken away. Even should creatures of darkness and evil cause my flesh to wither and die, they can never take my very essence. We are never lost, my brothers and sisters, while we walk in His light and carry His word.
Even now, many within and without the city combat the twisted machinations of those who would bear this plague into our homes. Cures are readily available for those who find themselves infected, and stalwart heroes strike far and deep into their lairs, purging these blasphemous works from our world. Some may fall, but many more will prosper. Victory for the goodly is, as ever, inevitable.
At this, Marcus pauses a moment to let his words soak in, before continuing on.
Let us now offer the Prayer of Rejoicing, in gratitude to the light that warms our beings and guides us to prosperity. Let us also offer thanks for the gift of law, that allows us to live in harmony and peace. Without it, there would be but chaos.
He then begins to lead the prayer, choosing to do so in its common form this time - likely to encourage more of his audience to join in, where they might otherwise be deterred by the ancient tongue.
Light Without and Light Within, Blessing of Amaunator - We seek His blessing. Light Without and Light Within, rejoice at life's glorious bounty - So we rejoice. Light Without and Light Within, and prosper under His Radiant Gaze- - So do we prosper. Light Without and Light Within, in peace and lawful harmony - So we know peace. Light Without and Light Within, His will be done. - We praise our Radient Father. Sol Invictus.
At the prayer's conclusion, he turns to face the food and drinks on the table. Holding his hands out over the assortiment, he blesses the food and the workers that produced it, before stepping aside and inviting those gathered to partake as they wish. ((Persuade +22, Acolyte Preacher (6 points))

As Marcus ends the preaching and invites people to the table, Nyare slowly makes his way to Marcus.
"So, Marcus, been a while since we last met...this is what you have been up to? Too bad i'm not human, might have joined you in your prayers and all."
Nyare would wait for Marcus' answer before nodding his goodbye and disappearing back into the crowd.

Marcus regards Nyare thoughtfully for a long moment, before answering.
"Amaunator is Father of Humankind, and in this aspect he speaks to His children; His words are best understood by Humanitas. While I may pray to Corellon, Moradin or Yondalla and acknowledge and value their teachings, I accept that I would never fully comprehend their meaning, as I would lack the soul and perspective such would require.
However, you are welcome to join the prayers to Amaunator all the same, for in His light all creatures of true heart prosper. He is Warden of Toril, and guards us from the fiend and the taint of undeath - a service he renders not only onto His children, but all life that is true and wholesome in this world."

Marcus puts up a notice in the Commonwealth Center as well as informing clerks of the event as he meets them in the corridors. The notice reads:
Quote: To the servants and clerks of the Ministries of the Commonwealth,
A Noontide ritual to Amaunator, the patron of clerks, jurists, administrators, magistrates and governors will be held in room #14B in three days time. In this event, the meaning and importance of proper administration and governance for the continuing prosperity of a realm shall be discussed and debated. A midday meal will be provided for those who attend.
Cpl. Marcus Sembianus Aurelius Cordor Guard
On the day of the service itself, Marcus will be present in the room ahead of time. Though he wears his noted clerical armored robe, the crested helm is notably missing. On a table to the side of the room there are a number of covered plates as well as a stack of papers with the hymn and prayers (and their translations) that will be used in the service. After it seems that the majority of attendees has arrived, Marcus speaks up.
“Welcome, my brothers and sisters, to this service and sermon to Amaunator, our Radiant Father and patron of your profession. Let us begin this gathering by singing the Hymn of Praise.”
He then begins to chant the solemn Hymn of Praise to Amaunator, doing so alone if non of the attendees choose to follow along. As the chant ends he raises his hands up in the air for a brief moment in quiet contemplation.
“My brothers and sisters, fellow citizens and servants of this Commonwealth. You are clerks, scribes, jurists, magistrates and administrators. And in this, you are the pillar upon which the Commonwealth stands. A realm may trade for all it needs but it will ever require to maintain proper administration, governance and judicial procedure itself to grow beyond a mere hamlet.
If one would consider the different categories among the populace; farmers and fishermen, craftsmen and merchants, guardsmen and priests. And if one were to view these varied groups as each being a great wheel in the construct that is our city, and the Commonwealth as a whole, then you form the oil that allows this great construct to continue to function. Without your diligent attention to proper recording and procedure this great Commonwealth would grind to a halt, as would any realm bereft of its administration.
You may have asked yourself what meaning there may be to your work. Your duties are often thankless, their importance misunderstood. It requires punctuality, reliability and consistency, and these virtues are not often recognized for their true worth. There is grumbling of bureaucrats and cursing of endless heaps of paperwork. But know that Amaunator knows your true worth, for in the time of ancient Netheril he did decree this:
“Learn the law and live it; obey its every letter and clause, for in knowledge of the intricacies of law lies freedom to act with righteous impunity. Keep track of the decisions of your superiors so that the body of precedent continues to grow and the unity of purpose of the rulings of Amaunator is made manifest to all. Serve your superiors faithfully, and they will reward you faithfully; shirk your duty and find the harsh hand of reproof.”
These are the teachings of the father of our race. Can there be any doubt as to the import He places on thorough and lawful administration?
Amaunator sacrificed to ensure our people survived Karsus’ Folly, and much of the ancient wisdom based on centuries of experience and precedent has been lost. Netheril has long passed, yet He remains and His teachings have lost non of their meaning nor weight. Lathander has spoken of Deliverance, a coming day of great change. On this day, He will rise to once again be Amaunator. Even among those of His own church many would deny this. They cower needlessly from this joyful change. But the evidence cannot be contested: Deliverance is upon us. And those who acknowledge His return and place themselves in the vanguard of His new church shall be amongst His most favored children.
It is now I ask you to accept the questions you have long held in your heart. Questions of the virtues of your profession, and the purpose of our people. You already know the answers: we are the children of Amaunator, and trough faith, zeal, law and light we fulfill our purpose.
My brothers and sisters. Before we partake of the midday meal, join me in the Prayer of Rejoicing. For with Deliverance lying just over the horizon there is ample reason to do so.”
After the prayer ends, Marcus moves to pull the coverings from the different plates, revealing a buffet of local Cordoran specialities, created by local taverns and eateries. He blesses the food and those who laboured to create it, and invites those gathered to the free meal. During the meal, he mingles with the different clerks, asking questions and discussing the practical side of Cordor’s administration: the details of certain articles of law, common procedures in the census office, etc.((Persuade +26, 6pt Preacher))

Corporal Griffonheart, during his regular patrols sees the notice and blinks in surprise. He leaves it as it is, simply shaking his head and departs to continue his patrol.
Once the patrol is finished, he would set off to find the captain, and later on perhaps a meeting with Father Redweth.

A note is posted on the noticeboards of Cordor, as well as being delivered to the local temple of Lathander.
"To Lathanderans and general theologers,
I am searching for dissections of contemporary, orthodox Lathanderan doctrine as part of a comparative study on Amaunatoran tenets. Should a submitted writing be of acceptable quality, it may be added to the treatise if such is acceptable. Compensation may be negotiated.
Please deliver all entries to the Cordoran Guard Barracks, addressed to Marcus Sembianus Aurelius."

Morn Ritual At the appointed dawn, Marcus is found at the eastern edge of the fairgrounds, with the sun rising behind him. A stool with a simple bowl, filled with clean water, on it stands besides him. Those who approach to join the rite are offered a written version of the prayers involved. After it seems that all who intended to arrive have done so, or waiting longer would allow dawn to pass entirely, Marcus speaks up to those gathered, focusing on the present humans above all.
"Goodmorn to you all, sons and daughters of Amaunator and Chauntea. Thank you for attending this public service. Let us begin with the Prayer of Dawn, which you may find on the papers I have passed. It holds both its original Netherese phrasing, and the translation into the common tongue that we shall use for your benefit."
He then turns and faces the rising sun, leading those gathered in prayer, alone if no others join the prayer.Quote: Attendant: Lux intus et lux extra, benedictionem Amaunator Light without and Light within, Blessing of Amaunator. Congregation: Nos quaerere benedictionem We seek His Blessing. Attendant: Lux intus et lux extra, propositum et ductu Light without and Light within, our Purpose and Guide. Congregation: Dirigit bene. It guides us well. Attendant: Lux intus et lux extra, in veritatem et legem Light Without and Light Within, in Truthful Law. Congregation: Nos obedire mandata We heed His word. Attendant: Lux intus et lux extra, spem et vitam aeternam Light Without and Light Within, for Hope and Life Eternal. Congregation: Nos laudare splendorem pater We praise our Radient Father. Attendant: Sol Invictus. Marcus then turns back to face the gathering.
“Amaunator is Magistrate of Divine Law. He is watchful, bringing retribution to those who breach these ancient foundations. However, he also blesses those who adhere to the law, both divine and secular. Today, no new are laws applied, and no alterations have been made.” The priest then raises his hands skywards, mimicking the gesture of raising up a great relic.
“Thus is the Word of Truthful Law, under His Radiance.”
“My brothers and sisters. Now, raise your children high and speak their names, that Amaunator-who-is-Lathander may know them and bless them.” He then moves trough the gathering, repeating the name of each child and blessing it in Amaunator's name, before moving back to stand in his original place and utter solemnly:
“Thus they are blessed, sons and daughters of the Father.”
For the last part of the rite, Marcus holds his hand over the bowl of water.
“Amaunator, Eternal Sun. Radiance fall upon these waters, to Cleanse the Taint of Night.” As the short prayer ends, the water takes on a soft white-golden glow common to Lathanderan holy water. Picking up the bowl, Marcus holds it up for all to see.
“With these waters, blessed in Radiance, we are released from slumber. Come now and be cleansed, and praise the Dawn anew.” After taking a sip of the water, he then moves trough the congregation, heading for the children first. “As is His will, the children shall be offered the blessing first. Those who are truly faithful, or have need of His blessing, may sup. But always there must be enough for all.” The priest then moves to offer the bowl, first to the children and then the adults. He allows those who wish it to sip from the holy water. Those who don’t, he offers a lesser blessing all the same, dipping two fingers into the bowl and drawing a circle symbol on their forehead. Once he has seen to all attendants, he moves to his place again.
“So ends the Morn Ritual. If there are any who yet have questions, I shall remain here to answer them. To those who need depart: may your day be productive and peaceful, under Amaunator’s radiance.”

Noontide Ritual At noon of the same day, Marcus can be found standing besides the idol of Chauntea. When and if people assemble for the rite, he offers them papers with the words of the hymn and prayer to be used in the noontide ritual, both in their original Netherese form and their common translation. When the sun is at its highest point, the priest speaks to those gathered, again focusing mainly on the humans present.
“Be welcomed to this Noontide Ritual, brothers and sisters. Thank you for attending and spending this time to hear my words and contemplate Amaunator blessings. At noon, the sun stands above the tallest of mountains and its light and warmth touches all. This time is most sacred, for it is now that the power of light is at its greatest. Let us begin then, by singing the Hymn of Praise. Let us thank our Lord of the Sun and Time for his blessings, and offer our humble devotions.” At this, Marcus begins to chant the solemn yet positive hymn, using the common lyrics to better encourage those gathered to join him.Quote: Ave Amaunator, Sol Invictus Hail Amaunator, Eternal Sun
Dominus sol et tempore Lord of the Sun and Time
Magistratus divinae Legis Magistrate of the Divine Law
Splendorem pater hominis Radiant Father of Man
Vigila Custos Toril Vigilant Guardian of Toril
Laudati esse gloria Praised be the glory
Nos portare tua edicta We carry Your word
Semper fidelis in ductu Always faithful to Your guidance.
Canalibus tenebris et chaos Trough Darkness and Chaos
Lux intus et lux extra Light within and Light without.
Gloria ad Amaunator Glory to Amaunator After the chant, Marcus raises both his hands skywards, symbolically reaching for the sun and embracing its light and warmth. He does so in silent reverence, holding the pose for a long moment, before lowering his arms and speaking to those gathered in a more casual and personal tone. He does so with greater passion than the ‘standard’ prayers however, holding his sermon with true belief in what he shares. "My brothers and sisters. Today I wish to speak to you of the influence of Amaunator, who many of you will know as Lathander. His influence is felt in many ways and today I would speak of two that hold particular importance to those of your profession; those who seed and harvest crops, in wind and rain, under the radiance of the sun. I would speak to you of His maintenance of the major cycles of this world; those that are integral to our very existence. I would also speak to you of His nurturing patronage of all things that grow under the sun, both in form and spirit.
Firstly, there is the cycle of day and night. Every morning, the sun rises, traverses to the sky until dusk and gives way to night, only to return again every morning. We live our lives by this cycle; we know that dawn is the time to awaken, we know the hour by the position of the sun and we know the time of rest that comes with dusk. Since the very creation of our world, Amaunator has ensured that this cycle continues without pause or fault. For countless eons He has provided us with the most basic and notable means to measure the passage of time.
The second cycle is that of the seasons. They are most often thought to be defined by the most common weather during each season, but in truth the only dependable measurement is the duration of the day. First comes spring. An awakening from the stagnation of winter, a time of sowing, birth and new opportunities. Then there is summer, where the days are long and His radiance warms us greatest; a time of vitality and potency. Then comes autumn, the harvest tide, where we reap the bounty of the year’s labours. And so comes winter; often considered the harshest of seasons. The days are shortest of all the year and the cold drives us inside. But it has meaning; it is a time of contemplation, trial and fasting, without which the bounty of the other three seasons would hold no meaning. It is also a time of rest, during which the earth may replenish itself to support another fruitful year. And always, as night is followed by dawn, so is winter followed by spring. And the cycle continues as it always has and always shall.
Amaunator also holds a notable patronage of all things that grow. He is the patron of the young and those who seek to grow in form and spirit; athletes, poets and thinkers. While Chauntea ensures that life itself exists and spreads, trough the sun’s light and warmth Amaunator, in his aspect of Lathander Morninglord, ensures that new life grows and prospers. When a seed is placed, Chauntea will see it birth new life, whether plant, tree, animal or human. When it is born, Amaunator-Lathander’s radiance nurtures and raises this new life to health and maturity.
This is the way and partnership between Chauntea and Amaunator; Chauntea allows life to form and Amaunator allows this life to grow and prosper. Without the blessing of Chauntea’ fertility no seed would open and no sapling would emerge. Without the nurturing light and warmth of Amaunator’s sun, nothing would grow and prosper to be true and wholesome. So it has been, and so it shall ever be.
Let us now rejoice at the dominance of light and law, under which we may prosper. Join me in this prayer of thanksgiving. Join me in speaking these ancients words, who have lost non of their meaning nor potency.” Quote: Attendant: Lux intus et lux extra, benedictionem Amaunator. Light Without and Light Within, Blessing of Amaunator Congregation: Nos quaerere benedictionem. We seek His blessing. Attendant: Lux intus et lux extra, laetitiam in gloriosus largitate vitae. Light Without and Light Within, rejoice at life's glorious bounty Congregation: Nos gaudere. So we rejoice. Attendant: Lux intus et lux extra, prosperabitur sub lucem. Light Without and Light Within, and prosper under His Radiant Gaze Congregation: Nos prosperabitur. So do we prosper. Attendant: Lux intus et lux extra, in pace et legalis concordia. Light Without and Light Within, in peace and lawful harmony Congregation: Nos vivere in pace. So we know peace. Attendant: Lux intus et lux extra, sequitur imperium deus. Light Without and Light Within, His will be done. Congregation: Nos laudare splendorem pater. We praise our Radient Father. Attendant: Sol Invictus. "My brothers and sisters, it is time I release you to continue your day. I ask you to contemplate the place and influence of Chauntea and Amaunator on our lives; how their blessings allow us to know prosperity and never fall into famine. They both give us much, and ask little; they ask only for a daily prayer, your recognition of their power and benevolence. Such faithful devotions will sustain and empower them; trough it Chauntea can ensure a bountiful harvest and Amaunator can ensure the sun ever has warmth to give and the seasons are ever in balance.” Marcus raises his hands over those gathered and speaks his blessing. “Amaunator bless the midday’s meal, and your labours to create it. Sol Invictus.”

One man with a small symbol of Lathander on his tunic is seen nodding at the Speaker's words. He is there again at the rituals, solemnly yet enthusiastically joining in.

The Dusk Ritual At dusk, Marcus stands underneath Eve’s Tree at the bridge into the city’s center. When others approach to join the evening ritual, he approaches each in turn and asks them whether they have recently lost family members or close friends. If so, he asks them for a little more information on the background of the fallen and offer a moment of remembrance during the ritual itself. When everyone has gathered, the priest begins to speak: “Be welcomed, sons and daughters of our radiant Father. In this ritual of dusk, we gather to contemplate those who have been lost to us. Whether they had lived a long and fruitful life, earning eternal peace and bliss in the afterlife, or whether they were lost to circumstance, let us take this time to remember our brothers and sisters. Let us also remember their works, for no matter how humble they may be, it is on these that we continue to build and prosper.
On this eve, we remember our brother Davorin Chorster. After a fruitful and honourable life spent as a baker of the city of Cordor, he passed peacefully at the age of 74. May Amaunator guide his soul to eternal peace, and may his works be ever remembered. We also remember our sister Bristine Shieldheart, who came to the city twenty years past and lived a pious and humble life as a tailor. May Amaunator guide her soul to eternal peace, and may her works be ever remembered." And so it goes on, Marcus spending a moment to speak on those fallen he had been informed of, followed by a long and contemplative silence as he asks each present to remember the fallen and the place they had in their lives. “My brothers and sisters. We are all part of a greater whole. At dusk, we remember our own day’s works, and how these have allowed ourselves and our community to grow. Myself, I have spent this day speaking to you of Amaunator and guide you in prayer and contemplation. I have also spent time maintaining peace and law about the city, that we might all prosper. Now, I would ask you to step forward in time and speak of your own actions and accomplishments today, no matter how humble they might be.” He motions to those nearby, encouraging them to speak up one at a time, until everyone that can be encouraged (though never demanded) to speak up has done so. “We come now to the final part of this Dusk Ritual. The night now lies before us, and it hides many dangers and fears. Know that, even while the sun has been sent to illuminate other realms, Amaunator is ever watchful. Even in the darkest of times, He walks with us. But we are not helpless sheep, my brothers and sisters. He is Warden of Toril, and we are His children; each of us carries the strength to stand against darkness and evil. For our family, for our friends and for this world itself. We each carry souls drawn from fire, and while this fire remains nurtured with faith it can never be extinguished. While we hold to our faith, we stand strong against all that would harm us. Join me then, in the prayer of Eternal Vigilance. It is His promise to us, and it is our acknowledgement of His radiance and our own strength." A mageling approaches with some questions.
-"If you give your soul to Amaunator... What happens in the afterlife?"

"Firstly, your faithfulness would be judged by Kelemnvor as all souls are. In the assumption that you have lived a life of sufficient piety, your soul would then be claimed by Amaunator and brought to His realm. What happens here would depend on your dedication in life. The majority of lay followers would be permitted to continue existence in Morninglory, a realm of sublime beauty and tranquility; a realm of crystal-clear lakes and evergreen forests. His more devoted servants may be reborn into various celestial forms or serve as planar petitioners, carrying out His will in the worlds beyond this one and continuing to serve Him as they did in life. Those who are truly faithful and devoted may even be granted the honour of becoming part of His very divinity, to become part of His radiance for all eternity. Though it is a field I have yet to fully examine, it is believed that at times these most faithful souls are reborn into mortal form, as fitting the god of rebirth. Indeed, it is possible that His greatest and most powerful warriors, priests and prophets - those who possess a faith and dedication that surpasses even their peers - may possess such reborn souls. It is an interesting possibility, but one that raises many questions as well. Suffice to say, that those faithful to Amaunator-Lathander and His teachings find unimaginable bliss in the afterlife, free of our many worldly concerns.
Does this answer your question?"

In a handful of gathering places throughout the city, markets, squares and the Chapel of Lathander (if Father Redweth permits), Marcus holds a public sermon as he is prone to do now and then.
People of Cordor.
Brothers and Sisters.
The new year has begun, and it has begun with ill tidings. The apparition of the blind child comes with powerful shadows in its wake, and in recent days the kobold tribes have surged from their holes to threaten our lives. We mourn those who were lost to the vermin’s cowardly attack, but we may all take strength from the fact that such an act will never go unpunished. Even now, efforts are underway to bring righteous retribution to those responsible for our loss.
I say this is our loss, for that is what it truly is. Even if we may not have personally known those who have been taken before their time, their absence shall affect our lives. On a level of practicality and simple economics, the loss of the farmer and his daughter will affect this year’s harvest. This reduced yield may yet affect those millers, bakers, merchants and others who rely on it. The reduced availability may raise prices, further affecting others. It is much the same for the death of our well-known cart driver. His absence shall make travel, and by extension trade, more difficult and expensive, further affecting us all in great and small ways. And so, the sudden absence of each of these individuals will impact us. They have lost their lives, but we all lose something ourselves as well. Even when we do not consider their deaths in such impartial and oftentimes cold terms of mere cause and effect, we shall all miss them. Our city is a little more empty, and our community is reduced.
This communal loss that we suffer is evidence of a far greater truth, one that many of us already feel but few truly understand. Indeed, even while I would speak of it to you today, my own understanding is yet far from sufficient to say I truly grasp its entirety - and what it means for us all.
With our direct father, mother and kin, we are part of a family. With other families, our fellow citizens, we form a city. With our fellow cities, we may be part of a greater nation. But above all, we are all part of the same people. Whether we look to our Father in his aspect of Morninglord, in search of hope, compassion and youthful exuberance, or whether we seek His wise guidance and endless strength as Keeper of the Eternal Sun, we are all sons and daughters of Amaunator-Lathander, drawn from the same ash and cast in the same mold. Even when we look beyond our own people - to the elves, dwarves and halflings that live beside us - we can see how we are each bound together, how His light falls on all - and how suffering and despair may befall human, elf, dwarf and halfling alike.
We are each part of a greater whole, and each of us is as much defined by our own selves as by the others in this greater whole. When another suffers or dies before his time, we ourselves are reduced by this loss. When another is raised up and brought out of despair and sorrow, we ourselves are better for it as well. This is the essence of this great truth.
What does this mean, however?
Oftentimes, the greatest and most meaningful good lies in the smallest of gestures. A single loaf of bread will aid a starving man far better than a casket full of gold. The silent presence of a close friend may offer greater comfort than the words of a dozen strangers. The gods may favor the innocent and pure prayer of a child over the recited liturgy of a hundred priests in group prayer. Acts of good, strength and kindness are not a matter of magnitude. They are a matter of meaning. Not all are able to stand against darkness made tangible, but few are those who cannot comfort a fearful child. Not all may stand before a horde of kobolds and drive them back, but all can offer some of their own possessions or assistance to aid those who have lost their house in the attack.
And so, I would leave you today with a task. Today, give something of yourself to a stranger. This may be something this stranger needs, such as food, clothing or even a simple helping hand. But it may also be something more personal of yourself, a small token of great meaning to you alone. What you give need not be a great or expensive thing, for it is indeed often the smallest and simplest things that hold the greatest meaning. This is what I would ask of you today, good people. Let us make this day into such a day of charity and compassion that our Radiant Father takes note, for such kindness not only draws His favor, it soothes and purifies the soul. And you may yet receive an unexpected gift you will treasure your whole life.
Sol Invictus
After his sermon ends, Marcus steps down from his figurative box and moves into the crowd to offer a gift to a seemingly random person. A potion of elemental protection for a dock worker - to help against the winter cold. A signed and paid for voucher for a hot meal in the Nomad for a beggar. A plush toy for a young child. Simple things, really.((Persuade +28, 2 ranks Preacher))
