I decided to go ahead and make this post. I have not been around for a few days because of an incident that happened. The more I have thought on it, the more bitter of a taste it has left in my mouth. My wife currently refuses to come back here and I can't say that I am enthused at the idea of it either.
I played on this server for about 4 days with a character named Elapid and my wife played a character named Dhar. We spent most of those 4 days just learning the server.
When I made Elapid, I chose the ninja hooded head without giving it a 2nd thought. My 2nd or 3rd day, someone let me know IC, that a hood was not allowed in some city, I cannot recall the name of that city, but it was not wiltun. At this point, I had no idea why ic or ooc. Well I found out on my 4th day. Here is the story.
We had a group of 4 of us who decided to go test our blades against the desert minotars. This brought us to the Fortress of Wiltun.
Anyway, so the server is about to reset so we decide to wait. No big deal, Elapid decides to do some shopping while we wait. Well I enter the city and someone asks me to remove my helm. Like I had done the previous time someone asked, I declined and immediately left the city, which was the proper IC responce for Elapid. So I leave and about 2 minutes later decide to try again, hoping to sneak past. As I run into the gate and start running towards who knows what, since I have no idea where anything is, that same guy is running after me. So Elapid ducks behind the first building, and makes sure to always have that building between her and her pursuer. I was literally laughing out loud at the childishness of this all. Apparently I was the only one enjoying myself.
After a few seconds of this, Elapid once again bolts outside the walls of the fortress and runs for the boats. Her party members were all either afk or standing around the elevator outside the fortress and had no knowledge ic or ooc of this.
Server reset!
Ok so here we are again. Our group takes off to our destination, they still have no knowledge of what had just happened before the reset. To my suprise, they duck INTO the fortress, something I had not expected, since the boats are outside near the water. As quickly as I can, I type that I can't go into the fortress but before I can finish typing, all of them have entered the fort door. So I briefly enter the fort, hit "enter" so they can see Elapid's text, stating that she cant go in, and immediately leave.
That same pc guard is still there apparently. This time he runs out of the fortress and after Elapid. The first few times he tries to get close, I make sure to move back so he cant emote grabbing me or anything. My party is confused, some come back, some continue on into the fort and on to the desert minotars.
RP ensues. As I am typing, this pc guard sneaks in close to me and emotes a grapple. Dangit! I was trying to make sure he never got close, but I have to look at the keypoard when I type. So after they teach me how, I make an opposed grapple roll, of course my low level fails. So now this rp goes on for a bit. My char grappled just outside the gate. Elapid is saying she wants to leave, and the guard wont allow her to do so. He is mad that she entered the city 3 times now, even though she never got far from the entrance before running out. I don't recall which came first, but the pc guard emotes drawing a blade and putting it to Elapids neck, and elapid utters some dark words and summons a Yugoloth. The pc guard then emotes twisting one arm behind her back, so elapid emotes taking her own blade and putting it to the guards neck with the other arm. Only, in addition to my emote, I also equipped my blade, this was something the pc guard did not do, and later it becomes a problem.
By this point other friends of the guard have arrived. In good rp form, the pc guard is trying to deescilate the situation. He tells elapid to put her blade away. She resists and says, you have to put yours away too.
Now as all this going on, at some point Dhar joins the grapple. I think his grapple was completly ignored, because nothing came of it. I emote the yugoloth also getting involved, but this too was downplayed or ignored, because I can't remember anything coming of it.
The pc guard is still arguing for her to put away her blade and to lose the summon. IC both of them have their blades on the other, and eventually the pc guard finally equips his weapon. Elapid sets her terms. She says that after she sheathes her blade, that the guard has to remove his blade from her neck. Then she would unsummon the yugoloth and the guard would put his blade away. Now the guard did not have time to agree or disagree to the terms before Elapid put her blade away(unequipped). The guard wanted the yugoloth unsummoned also and refused to take the blade off her neck. So she took her blade out again and puts it to his neck once more.
Now at this point, I have been cussed at by the pc guard at least once, and cussed at by his ic girlfriend multiple times, all those watching appear to be generally upset, as evidence by the curse words that were occasionally appearing. I am doing my best to keep up with all of the rp while trying to dig through the journal to see the rules on cussing cause I really did not care for it. The guards start accusing of elapid of drawing her blade first, which IC, I did not do. The pc guard emoted drawing the blade 1st, only he did not actually equip his blade. I emoted the blade drawing 2nd, but was the 1st to equip. I point that out ooc so those gathered can know whats going on. They tell me to keep it ic. So I say it IC. But its ignored. They continue up the avenue that I drew my blade first.
So at this point I have been cussed at, I feel like the guards are lying about the conditions of drawing weapons and siding with their friend. while using it against me IC, dhar and the yuggoloth's grapples are ignored and not to mention the sneaky grapple while i was typing that started this whole thing. I decide that I have no interest in participating with this group any further. So I emote the yuggoloth grabbing the pc guard and distracting him long enough for Elapid to escape his 1 handed grasp(since his other arm is holding a weapon).Elapid runs for the boats, and ports to Server A.
A short while later I am on a cart that takes me back to server B, but not in Wiltun. Several minutes later I get a post from that pc guard, telling me that I am banned from certain areas of the server. I am told that despite them never seeing my face, they are able to enforce black listing my char, and that I cannot enter those areas without dm permission. Now to me, it requires a bit of metagaming by way of looking at the name over my characters head to know who she is, since her mask was never removed. But that does not matter according to the pc guard.
I feel like I ran into a hot head who after cussing at me, effectivly banned me from parts of the server, because I entered a fort only to tell my party members I could not enter the fort. Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture?
