Ok, so... I know a race like this exists I just can't for the life of me think what it is. So I will give a basic idea of the character and hopefully someone else will remember what I can't. I am looking to make a fun RP character that outwardly looks incredibly adorable, cute, and harmless. Even her nature will come across at first glance as innocent and sweet, but she will say and do things that are shockingly evil for no other reason than a whim. Like for instance she's not the kind of evil that oppresses people, murders people to take their things, etc. She's more the type of evil that will pick up a cute furry forest creature and pet it, but think noting about ripping it's head off or biting it's head off or something just crazily evil. If this character has been over done already I apologize in advance but it sounds fun to play. Definitely will be a chaotic evil creature. If it requires a DM Request or whatever that doesn't bother me as well. I am willing to put in the time and effort to write up whatever is required and discuss the character before creation etc. Bear in mind this creature doesn't think it is evil, it acts on whim more than careful reasoning. I just can't think of what this creature is called and I wish I could think of examples of it. >_>

Eric Cartman?

Seriously though, I can only think of Unseelie fey, although they don't necessarily look cute. They can, though.

some sort of evil fey creature. in general they aren't oppressively evil, but they do things just like you are describing (well some of them). i can think of one a grig or a fey touched creature. that doesn't make them incredibly cute per-se but they are small so could fit in with what your thinking. unseelie court would be something of that nature.

This could be any creature ...with a low wisdom score.

You know. Like the (ahem) innocent Orc that doesn't know its own strength. He didn't mean to hurt the bunny. He was just seeing if it was fluffy on the inside too.

I have to ask why? Being human comes with a significant amount of psychological hubris. To RP a character that suffers from what sounds like a disassociation disorder would be very difficult without a comprehensive knowledge of said disorder.

Fey creatures are already disassociated from humanity and/or humanism. Wouldn't it be easier to have a PC that was by definition disassociated then to have one that was disassociated by conditioning, trauma or mental defect?

It seems overly cynical to say that humans are by definition the most likely to perform random acts of cruelty when there are available races in this story-world that are more likely to appear 'mad' without putting such a 'burden of proof' as it were on the player.

I don't see how cynicism is an answer. I could very well respond with 'Exhibit B: exhibit A needs a cuddle'. My point being that if it is all relative to conditioning then any race is appropriate to any character class. Why not have a half-red dragon who looks after orphans and lives a carbon neutral life because he's from a well adjusted background and sees a shrink? It is equally valid in this case. Why are humans the only race that is exempt from a common bond or rationale?

Or just trust the creativity of the player. Any race is suitable for this concept, there are more races more suspectible to this behaviour (which I think is what the character is asking, what kind of race in a fantastical world would really suit this concept down to the ground) such as deranged feytouched or even a unhinged tiefling.

So we're looking at some sort of Feytouched... any recommendations to find info about Unseelie Fae? Forgotten Realms wiki is rather lacking.

An awesome read... I learned a lot of stuff that I didn't know. However, I'm still having a hard time finding types of Unseelie Fey and information about each individual type. So far I know where to find a list of Fey types, and now I have an awesome amount of lore for Fey in general, but nothing about the specific types.

There is a book, Complete Guide to Fey I think? .pdfs are probably floating around the internet. I think that will have everything you need to know, but I'm not certain as I've not looked into it myself.

I wasn't making a comment on human nature, I was just saying humans are varied and cosmopolitan enough to fit most character ideas.

I'm not sure if the Average Joe will consider a Feytouched (let alone a pure Unseelie fey, which may be hard to get approved too) to be "cute." Even if the extraordinary features were something fluffy, you're still a friggin' mutant and my characters would be wary of you even if they knew nothing of your true nature. Just some food for thought; human would attract the least attention and face the least predetermined attitudes, letting you shape your image better.

Feytouched get a charisma boost which directly translates into "more pretty" (thus could be super cuteness), and I don't think their somewhat alien nature is always apparent (though it may well be), aside from being somewhat exotic (which can be hard to pin down).

Feytouched charisma boost is an indication of their personal presence, not beauty. Some feytouched are twisted creatures much like the calibans of Ravenloft rather than the feyish or elfin people of beauty. Whichever form they take, they still get the charisma bonus and the charm person ability.

The system doesn't distinguish between charisma from physical beauty or charisma from personal presence; it's irrelevant anyway, because the player can still choose if they want a beautiful feytouched or not, which is relevant in this situation. That, and I don't think you could get an ugly feytouched model without some kind of request, model limitation and all that considered...

Incidentally, Calibans get a charisma penalty...

Correct, the system doesn't but we do. That said, the rest of your post is accurate because you can point your character in either direction. My original main has 10 CHA. He's slightly better looking than normal, but it's offset by his slight antisocialness and ability to be a dick when needed.

It's all about balance.

These are the creatures of nightmares, many of which are twisted and deformed, resulting from centuries of indiscriminate breeding with fey and non-fey alike. It should be noted, that despite the reputation for the Unseelie fey being horrendous creatures, many of them are, in fact, deceptively beautiful like their Seelie cousins.

First paragraph under Unseelie Court. >_> Deceptively beautiful (or cute as this case may be) may be outwardly adorable, but with a sharp toothed maw. Which I am totally fine with. Cute is a relative term I suppose. ^_^;

After digging through my ex-boyfriend box... no luck on finding Complete Guide to Fey... time to check local stores. >_>
