The Dragonsong Adventuring Guild

Alright, this is the general discussion topic for the Dragonsong Adventuring Guild. The IC Topic is -------> HERE <---------. The first thing best said is likely that while this is a faction, it is not really a faction. Let me explain that a bit. My goal here is to promote the adventuring theme on amia and give an alternative to factions for characters to find roleplay. Whether you play a traveling wizard, a sharp-tongued swashbuckler, a noble paladin or a self-centered mercenary warrior you will have a place here. It is also up to you to create a good portion of the activity.

There is no real mission statement besides the wish to promote and live the 'true' adventuring spirit. It is a companionship, where you can choose what adventurers and quests to pursue. There will be no hierarchy that will subject you to orders, but membership can be revoked if my character feels like you are a bad fit. This will likely happen if you become drunk with power and begin plan taking over the world one villainous evil deed at a time, be it by eating cute adorable puppies or drinking baby tears.

It might also be good to mention, I do not care if you are a member of another faction. You are most welcome regardless if you are a Jarl Warden, Triadic Knight, Lathanderite, Herald or Bendir Militia.

Now, what can you expect? I got a few plans how to start it off, and then a few for later in the future if this turns out to be fun. For now I think the nomad will be the best place to use as a "base".

- You should be able to find other members to hunt with. (More fun, More profit!)
- I will organize "roleplay heavy" hunts (slower paced quests - camp sites and stories in the wilds - so forth)
- Additionally a registry system will be introduced. It will be a rooster that lists name - skill focus - ratings of former employers. So if someone is for instance looking for a wizard specialized in transmutation for a project, he can go through it and see if there is anyone with that skill set. Details of past jobs will of course not be listed.
- Like-minded players who enjoy some tavern roleplay after the slashing and dungeoneering
- Low-mid level characters can receive quests by the Dragonsong Adventuring Guild to help them on their early days. There are many menaces that need to be dealt with, be it to bring back a troll skin helmet as proof of successfully reducing the pesky numbers of trolls near Bendir Dale for a handsome reward of 10.000 gold pieces or to research what happened to Mystra's Grove and uncover some of amia's rich history.

If you got any questions, suggestions, ideas, etc - post away.

If you want to be the villain of our premiere adventure!

I'd prefer to leave the demons, the devils, the undead, the corpse-devouring hags and the brain eating mindflayers on the side of the antagonists. Shady is very much welcome, outright and obvious evil less so. I am sure an evil mercenary can be quite a successful adventurer for instance. So this is less out of an impulse that this group should consist soley of do-gooders, which I hope it will not, but because it should consist of the adventurers and not the foes they meet down the road.

Second post now has an example of the registry with three fake characters.

This happened sooner than I thought. I knew that with current economic changes going on that there was going to suddenly be a very good place for an adventuring society that can be used as a good resource for actually making adventuring a profitable venture and for learning the greenhorns the little "tips" on how to make sure their expenditures don't outpace their gains. I just didn't think it would be for another few months.

Good initiative.

Yay!

Also, do you want signups in here?
And can we have more than one interested character? I have a few that would be, for various reasons of their own.

Haha, did not even think about the economic changes. But guess it is a nice point.

Ah, sign ups should go in the ic topic I made HERE. I did not think about multiple characters, but I have no problem with it personally.

The interest is overwhelming and appreciated! I would like to do as much as I can in game, so I think I came up with a good way to handle this so no one is penalized due to a timezone. I will update the PC Notice Board topic within the hour with a list for all who want to apply. You will automatically be named a "Dragonsong Journeyman" and be put on the ic registry list that I will also add there. Something I just came up with, but fear not, I am not creating a real hierarchy.

The full guild membership to companion I will do in game. That will be nothing big or something you need to work for, but Isabella naturally wants to get to know all of the Dragonsong Companions personally. Once you get that, you are a full member and the same as any other companion (small exception being the 'bella). The registry list will be public in the nomad, so the topic will also be open for the employers who would like to get involved. (People like DayDreaming who expressed their interest in offering quests).

In other words, I will put up a list, you can post your name to get added or/and approach me in game. And then you can already start roleplay with your fellow adventurers and accept quests from other characters via the guild.

I am gonna go on easter holidays till Tuesday tomorrow, but once I return from the egg search/skiing holiday, I will schedule a series of meetings so all of the characters can get to know one another and we can do some fun stuff.

Isn't Isabella a tiefling? How was she able to put up a poster in Mayfield's? I thought tieflings couldn't go into Kohlingen at all.

Anyone got a good idea how to add approximate levels to the guild registry? Mabey 1-10, 11-20 and 21-30? I think it would be helpful for people looking to employ someone. For instance if you want to give a fun quest to lowbies, you do not want to have a level 30. I definitively do not want to have that be a rank/title thing though, and I prefer not to have ooc tags.

I'd just do it in five levels since thats the OOC limitation on effective adventuring.

3-8
9-13
14-18
19-23
23-27
28+

I am steering to next sunday around 18:00 pm gmt +0 for the first part of the Forrstakkr expedition. Would be great to get a reply if that time would be good for those players who are interested in participating in it. My estimate is that we would play for two to three hours.

This especially concerns Naivatkal, NaturallyCaffeinated, Kraniumbrud and QPR who already sought to be a part of it. I would like to get a group together of at least four to six players, so we still got a spot. Level does not matter. And if we get seven characters, that does not break the adventuring party either.

I may or may not be available. Generally I can only be online EST nights because of family stuff and all, though Friday days work because wifey works then lol
I may be able to get on, though, just depends on what is going on. Won't really know until then.

So, really, don't change much on account of me. I'm just unlucky with online times :D

Alright! Will wait until the others have had a chance to respond. Usually friday nights are not the best for me, as I do enjoy to get drunk.

Found no better way to do it besides using some synonym to the level range one is in. So for instance: Orc Slayer (3-9), Troll Slayer (10-14), Ogre Slayer (15-19), Giant Slayer (20-24), Dragon Slayer (25-30). They would of course have no influence on anything rank related, as we will continue not to have ranks. I would also make sure to update them as often I can on the registry, to make sure they are not out of date. Would also not be mandatory, in case someone prefers it to remain unknown for an ic or ooc reason.

I added five guild quests for characters of the group between level 3-14, and more will come in time, including those for up to level 24. For now you can make extra gold by showing the items of proof of having done the kobold quest, frontier orcs quest, trogolytes, trolls and bloodmoon orcs. You can only do each of them once per character for a reward, but in total you can earn up to 30k and one raise dead scroll right now to help you along in the early days. They are listed in the first post of the pc notice topic.

Alright, first of all, as a general reminder for those who want to adventure a bit, we got expeditions planned on thursday and friday. I will also try to find a good time for a meeting that a good portion can make.

Secondly, we now got 33 members. Yai! With such a big list, I want to make sure that there is now an active and inactive part, to make sure everything is up to date. Those who are inactive but in the guild will just be put on a list named "Away on Adventure". Those bellow should either contact me via pm or a post here if they are not inactive, but it is just that playtimes do not overlap properly.
