I might be jumping the gun with this but due to the success of the last beginnings campain I want to get an early start on brainstorming for this one. Ideally I'd like between 6-8 players interested in starting a new character - preferably that they'd plan on sticking with - and submitting themselves to my sadostyle of plotting for a couple months, probably more. This is more to gauge interest and to post premises when I concoct them. People who weren't part of my last campain have precedence over those who were for the sake of fairness. All I have thought of at the moment is "maybe something in the planes", "maybe a civil war." So... yeah, you can see how much I'm jumping the gun. Expect a premise by the end of February, which gives you all of two months to make your characters, and submit them for approval. It will be taking place in GMT evening, on a week day. 9PM-12AM. If I get a few requests from a specific timezone I am liable to change the times of plottage. Silent2001 wrote: Premise: The Council of Barak Runedar has realised that the problems of the citadel cannot be remedied by force alone, that there is a deeper, more difficult problem that must be addressed. Depopulation. The keep is spread too thin to address each and every threat that harasses the citadel. It is a story that has been told and retold time and time again in the annals of dwarven history, and it usually has the same ending… holds falling and kin being slain. But the council was wise and became aware of the problem, perhaps in time to save the citadel, and sent forth missives to any and all dwarven holds asking for fresh blood to bolster the population.
Over on the other side of the world, in the unlikely region of Alambar, a volcano erupted that devastated entire swathes of land, and caused untold amounts of death. Once the aftershocks that wracked the area subsided dwarves began to feel a tug, a subconscious urge to return to the stone, and their holds. Many dwarven mercenaries embraced the call and bolstered their holds; Citadel Adbar’s population rocketed. Many speculate that the Soul Forger instilled this call to encourage growth and deter isolationism in his people. Others believe that nature is simply attempting to even itself out following the deaths of thousands in Alambar by a freak act of nature.
Regardless of the cause some citadels, namely Citadel Adbar labours under the influx of kinsmen. Perhaps it was providence that the council in Barak sent out a call to other holds requesting assistance. King Harbromm issued a decree encouraging clans to take up the call of the council in Barak Runedar, to save yet another hold from falling to the enemies of the people. In a rousing speech given to almost all the clan leaders that had gathered to discuss the missive sent by Barak Runedar, he stated it would be a “crime” to allow a hold to fall whilst they boast an abundance of manpower.
His decree encouraged clans to send forerunners out to neighbouring holds, and to Barak Runedar to ensure the longevity of the race. Tax breaks were offered to the clans that sent out forerunners, though they were not pressured to move to the hold unless they desired it. Many clans took up the call, and some even began to speak of retaking the Citadel Felbar whilst others went to the Mithral Hall. But one particular clan took a keen interest in Barak Runedar, Clan Anvilmar; the Anvilmar clan boasts a long history of artisan smiths which in turn ensured they grew extremely wealthy.
They were held in high regard within the citadel until their greed began to cloud their vision, their previous patriarch began to look for ways to bypass the taxes imposed by the king, and he succeeded. Tornth Anvilmar was a cunning and intelligent merchant and it wasn’t until his death that the financial scribes realised the clan was responsible for evading a centuries worth of tax. When this news reached the ears of the common dwarf their estimations fell, and their honour was questioned quietly in taverns until the king stepped in to act. Thorfin Anvilmar, the son of the tax dodger, inherited debt and dishonour. Not only did he have to raise funds to account for his father’s greed, he also had to restore the name of the clan and retake their position of prestige within the hold.
It should come as no surprise that Thorfin seized upon the opportunity the king presented to regain some face. He committed his clan to the citadel of Barak Runedar, and within the tenday a number of dwarves were sent from Citadel Adbar, as forerunners, to the distant land of Amia. You are one of those forerunners…

I would tentatively like to be involved in this! I say tentatively, because I'm already involved an alt beginnings thing right now. If it comes down to me or someone else who has not been involved, I'd rather they have it.

Tentatively interested, depending on the concept of the story and my available time.

I already know I won't have time to participate in another one of these. Not to mention I was in the last one! I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing how it goes, though. The story of the first one was great and I'm sure this next one will be, too!

I've never done one of these.
I regret not applying the last time. And I've rejected a few since as they haven't been managed by someone who understood the correct application of the queen's timekeeping.
So, yeah. I'll apply. Are we talking a Sigil thing with this mention of "Planar"? I never played Planescape.

Probably not Sigil, that'd be too much to give a builder. Or too much for me to build for, or whatever. I don't know yet, but I will begin writing after I've read my next wave of books.

I have to admit, I'm liking the idea of another campaign like this. I would've tried some of the others, but I'd often see the thread when it was too late. /hope
Edit: And apparently random is the new black, according to my new profile picture I had no recollection of adding. o_O

Registering tentative interest mostly dependant on whether the forecasted start is pre or post examination season.

Just something I thought I'd throw out: Maeduselde. It's a lovely and underused place. Could revolve around a group of young men and women and the their upcoming Rune Hunt/Chauntean coming of age ritual.

I have always wanted to partake in a DM event, let alone an ongoing campaign, I feel that I have a lot to offer in terms of a roleplayer and should be able to suite any requirements, however, the spotlight is never really illuminated upon me when my moment to shine comes round in game so my Dream Coin balance is unable to reflect my opinion of myself but I research my role and carry it out to the best of my ability. I am a UK based player that has been on Amia since 2009, I hope that I am at-least remotely known by account to some people who can vouch that I can contribute to a unique experience every time. I am at your disposal Silent.

Alright folks. I've decided that my alt beginnings is going to be dwarvern in nature, in a bid to breathe life into Barak Runedar. I'd prefer people who don't already have an active character in the citadel to apply, but this isn't a necessity, so start (re)expressing an interest now and I promise I'll have something done soon Those who are already active players in Barak Runedar will play a vital role, I'm not sure how yet, in this beginnings campain seeing as they're the movers and shakers in the citadel.

This may be an obvious question so forgive it if it is, will the character we create for this event be restricted to being played only on event days?

Quote: Premise: The Council of Barak Runedar has realised that the problems of the citadel cannot be remedied by force alone, that there is a deeper, more difficult problem that must be addressed.

Alright. I think the type of character I want to play fits into that pretty neatly.
How do I apply? Never done this before. I have a nice character idea that fits that....or do you create the character backgrounds for us to pick from?

All concepts should be written out in Elder Futhark. Further more we need to know the number of braids and the length of the beard of your character. Men with bears smaller than 10 and women with beards smaller than 1 one inch shalln't be accepted. Tankards and ale are not provided on entry of Barak Runedar. Keep to the middle of the roads and don't feed the dodos.

Or more serious: I'm looking forward to it and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Do join!

Bumping this. If I don't get anymore requests I'll have to revisit it with a more popular premise, me thinks!
