I hope there is no problem in my creation of this topic, but I see little else in the way of means to go about putting this out there since nothing is yet in game...
I would like to let it be known that I intend on playing a dwarf very soon, but unlike the majority of my characters which are loners and are faction-less, I would like to be part of a group from the very start. I am inviting active European and early rising American players who have experience playing a dwarf, or willing to give it a shot, a chance to join me on my ventures. I know this has been done before with the Stormbeards and the Bloodbeards and the other beards, but I have not seen many dwarves of late, and truth be told, its what I prefer playing and miss it.
Some key points surrounding the group and its requirements:
- A newly created character will be required. - Looking at a group size of a maximum of 6. - No distinct leadership defined, anyone will be welcome to it. - Inclusive rough plot for groups existence/future. - Non-Good alignment. - Light spell casting (to be defined). - Mixed Gender. - Specific lore background - Willingness to dedicate focus away from other played characters.
I am not promising the worlds best RP, but I will do my damnedest to provide a very good attempt at it, I welcome you all to join me in trying to do the same.
Contact me in game by Tell at "the.other.side.of.the.mirror", PM me here on the forums or simply leave a reply here.
Thanks!

Duergar is an option, I have several possibilities in mind at the moment but some of them will need DM clarification once I have more interest.

I strongly suggest dwarf rp in barak runedar considering things are changing and that there's a dm there whoputs his effort into reviving the place !

Interesting, although I cant really see how I could integrate my concept of dwarves to spend their time sitting within Barak Runedar, if anything, they might be able to be used by the more noble dwarves for specific tasks (if I don't go down the Duergar route). I just need people to interested in playing the dwarven race as a whole first, the specifics can be dealt with later.

Maybe you can break the isolationist trend of Barak Runedar, Let the dwarves march to war! May I suggest as classical Elf beating?

I'd be interested, but my interest is in Dwarves revolves around re-invigorating Dwarven RP at the Citadel.

I'm much the same. Time is allowing me to get back to my usual base of 4 mains. Hell, a medium sized creature would be a first for me to play as here.

If i would Ever pull my interest away from hashim and his crusade for good and justice , it would be for a dwarven support char.. But one question remain. Why non good alignment?
Send me some info, but i can only promise about 30% of my playtime, at best.

If that would work or be integrated I would be interested.

Yeah I'm going to have to say pass on your original idea Naux, you'd need to request each character individually and they don't really fit into any part of Amia's setting.

Well Mosh has hit the nail into the coffin now, but basically I was interested in starting a group of Wild Dwarves and unfortunately I did not expect them to require requesting to be played, which is a shame and will be far more tedious to start a group of them than expected. Which leaves a few other options which I will openly offer to you all to pick apart.
Firstly, as stated a few times above, the motion to create a newly formed group of Duergar, with mixed classes. This would mean that we have no direct involvement (although I can think of several ways to have input) with the DM's wish to increase Barak Runedar activity.
Secondly, the motion to create a new group of mixed classes for the specific use of involvement with Barak Runedar, this may go against my original wish to have a non-good aligned band of dwarves (may possibly conflict with Silents DM plot line).
Thirdly, to increase overall activity with existing dwarves which have no relation to each other and group them together to generate new RP or reinforce existing RP without a predefined back story obtained by creating a group from scratch.
Fourthly, to create a detachment of newly created dwarves which are related to Barak Runedar only in service or hire, to focus on non-good alignment with restricted class types to fit the role. The intention of establishing a Battlerager outfit.
My preference ultimately being the last option, I personally see a lot of potential with a group of specialised dwarven nut jobs, the scope of their influence on Amia is in my opinion the largest out of the above options. Barak Runedar would have full use of them, and the Drow, Orcs, Goblins and even Kobolds would all have a reason to watch out for them. I also consider this option to be the most visually appealing and mechanically unique.
As for the time-zones, I am in the United Kingdom, so GMT +2 would really be the extent of ideal.
What are your thoughts, suggestions?

Dwarves typically tend to lean toward Lawful Neutral anyway, so you don't need to worry about the non-good aspect.

I was kinda under the impression that Barak Runedar chaps would not accept Non-Lawful/Good dwarves in their halls, especially any evil aligned dwarves. As for the alignment in relation to Battleragers, would it be acceptable to have Lawful Battleragers on Amia despite what is stated on FR wiki? http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Battlerager

Na. It was just a funny quote i found in the link you pasted xD
I have to say i am out, too, due to needing to request a wild dwarf. And it's not really my type of playstyle. If i'd make a dwarf, I'll do it alone

You don't have to be lawful.. but lawful fits very well with the dwarves following the dwarven laws and way of life, which is generally very important to every dwarf. Sure, you can be CN or TN even, but you'll get a lot of odd looks if you come to Barak with your gobo/kobo/duergar/UD drow/etc friends. "Odd looks" is probably an understatement though.

Battleragers have their niche in dwarven society, which shows equal measure of caution and respect to them (usually by giving them wide berth if possible). They usually live separated from the rest of the society, but are treated fairly, as mentioned. They are pretty much FR version of "Legion of the Dead" from Dragon Age - warriors who fight with utter abandon until they die glorious death. While their habits and attitude are far off from common dwarven society, their willingness to die for their homeland at moment's notice is what is highly respected. And yes, their way of life IMHO makes them neutral, in most cases CN. I don't think there is a big problem for such group of ragers to exist in (or near) Barak, really.

To summarise after much discussion, I am looking for players willing to fit the role of a Dwarven Battlerager detachment, ideally 3 players but would be very merry with 6. I have conceded to accepting both lawful and chaotic alignments, but, of neutral variety and mixed genders.
I would appreciate players to offer themselves up for the role of a:
Dwarven Defender based Battlerager Rage Barbarian based Battlerager Weapon Master based Battlerager
A consideration may be made for a member of Dwarven clergy (Hanseath?) to be assigned to the detachment.
If you are interested, do shout! Very much looking forward to establishing this group and starting something different and on the wild battle frenzied side of life.

Well, hey, I don't claim to be a dwarven expert. But even going by the official Battlerager description, non-lawful is a requirement. If someone wishes to join as a lawful dwarf, they'd likely have to be quite creative to explain why they'd be with this band of merry, angry and unpredictable dwarves. But I can think of a few reasons so it certainly isn't impossible.

Why are you all so focused on this non-lawful alignment thing. You don't have to be Lawful to be involved in Barak's roleplay. Just don't make an evil dwarf and follow the laws of the Citadel. You can be Chaotic and follow the laws of the Citadel. There's a difference between dwarven laws and human laws. For dwarves, the laws are a way of life. They are natural to them and not something that's forced upon them.

I agree Sune, I had to atleast offer the possibility of Lawful for that clerical role I advertised. I would love it if we managed to get a full group of Neutral wide folk! Ive been told that we would have quite the use within the Barak Runedar community, so anything thinking of assisting with those dwarves, this is very possibly a good way of doing that. As before, Id like to emphasise on the preference for European players, but early active American players are welcome!

Wednesday is the cut-off period for my offer of invite, it appears I will be going in (forever)alone, which will be a real shame if I'm honest, expected a little more interest. If anyone decides that they have a sudden urge to fulfil one of the the roles im offering now or beyond Wednesday, kindly send me a PM and perhaps we can organise something in-game that can validate some RP background filler. Thanks.
