Could just host our own Amia Fact Book. Leave the silly character bias Wiki for folks to do with as they please.

I mean I've already written up indepth histories of Nes'ek, Djedet, The Anari, Hasrabet and Khem in general, both a DM version and a player version.

Why not add the your player version here: Lore: GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY for a start? I am sure people would appreciate having access to more of the background of such places, and I would toss it up on the Wiki so you would need not befoul your hands with the "silly character bias wiki", with the source marked like I have begun doing for other material?

A staff run fact book would be great to have. But what I appreciate about the wiki is the way you can read up on the history of the server to more detail. For instance, the history about what factions did is very very small on the forum. We do not have an article about Guldorand, we do not have an article about the banite occupation and the huge battle that occurred there. And if there are some posts about it in the pc story forum or the dm forum, they are not detailed, not written as an account of it or/and spread out, making them hard to find.

I love the world to be rich of atmosphere through history. Hell, i'd enjoy reading up on different customs of the communities on amia like in the books of Warhammer Fantasy: Bretonnia. There you have even custom sayings bound to their history. One region has a saying "Like digging for a goblin" -> Meaning wasting a lot of time for something you will find soon anyway. If you can read up on guldorand, then click on the banites and read up on them, or from Kohlingen History and click on Darius Tristam and the Justicar to read up on them, that is just fun. Why did the Tower of Mystra ban dark necromancy? -> Conflict with Eternal Order -> Read up on that history. History of amia forest? -> Burning of the forest, etc, etc. Would be great to have it for other factions too like the Banites and the War Knights.

And lastly, I enjoy to read up which characters were the driving force behind what. Who were the small group that went into Kohlingen Manor to cleanse it? Who were the driving characters behind the Wyrmshadow event, etc, etc. And were it not for the amia wiki, we would have by now lost all of the old Amia Paper collection.

Danke. Could a new category be opened up under the island named something like "Fancy Places"? Would be nice to be able to write/move stuff about/like the Nomad, Hin Inn, Temple of the Triad's Light, Spires, Dungeon of Horror and so forth and not clutter the settlement/geography categories with it.

Sounds good to me. Likely will need to bump an administrator for something like that? I got no clue how to make categories, even if I could.

You don't need special permissions. I just did it.

Making a new category is just like making a new page, except that the page starts with "Category:"

I assume you know how to put stuff in categories. eg [[Category:Points of Interest]]. Glorag Mur is now in that category. You can move it back if you want, it was my test dummy. Be warned that you will need to put some text on your new category page for it to save.

It's super easy. Edit any page, and at the bottom there will be a list of categories that looks like this:

[[Category:Pages about Beverages]]
[[Category:Things that are Orange]]
[[Category:Fruit Products]]

.. or whatever. Just add a category there, in the same format, and save the page. If the category already exists, the page will be added to it; if the category doesn't already exists, a "pages wanted" link will be created for it (those are the links that show up red instead of blue). Once that's done, you can click that red Category Wanted link, go into the Category page and edit it however you like. The wiki will automatically collate and alphabetize all the pages in the category for you.

For example, I just now created a category for Deities Supporting Druids, just to see how easy it was. It took me about three minutes.

In the deities section there is the deities' chart with a convenient spot for favored weapon. However it does not show on the page once you've edited it.

Does anyone have any ideas there on how to show it?
(Which might indicate that every deity has to be updated)

Same with the location code. Would be lovely to be able to add more slots and the highlighted one to actually show up.

Quote:

| caption = '''The City.''' <!--Any field from this point on is optional; it can be deleted and will simply not show up in the infobox.-->
| region = Central [[Amia]]
| population = 1800, 83,5 % [[Elves]], 16% [[Half-elves]] & 0,5% [[Fey]]
| government = Democracy (Theocratic Tendencies) [[Winyan Council]]

I see the problem. I edit wikis by trial and error, so I have no idea why the extra line isnt showing up.

You know, I just realized something..... the map of Amia shows Nes'ek on Amia island... O.o
http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/images/a/a7 ... ailmap.jpg

Also, are there more detailed maps of Amia and Ruathym and Khem?
As in, something that actually depicts where Tarkuul and such are? Just something for curious reference of all the places on the server.

Wow, that map is *way* off. It doesn't even have Winya Ravana, or Silent Bay.

Use this one instead, I'd say.

Yes it does...

The map also is over five years old. Ne'sek was on Amia (at least on the same server, back then the only one). You got there through a tunnel from Guldorand. Silent Bay, Ruathym, Khem, Tarkuul and so on didn't even exist.

I've replaced the map.

Yai. The CoT is still lacking too, but I will just wait until it is put up on the forum under the Modifications: Classes and Feats and then throw it up there. Unless anyone wants to make the effort, of course.

Can someone change Auril's domains to reflect the ones on Amia? They currently list what's in Faiths and Pantheons, which is Lawful Neutral, Neutral Evil and Chaotic Neutral. On Amia, via the Deity System page they're Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil and Chaotic Evil.

I know it's probably not a big deal but when you're new to the server, it's confusing to see two different sources (the FR book and the Amia wiki) say that Auril accepts the alignments listed in the FR books, and only one that says they're different...yeah.

Yeah, I've been too busy in the afternoons lately to update the Class/Feats changes topic, since that's when I usually do it. Though, since someone was kind enough to write it up for the wiki already...

Likely needs to be done for almost every deity listed on the wiki now, as well as the available domains listed. I will start with it in the comin' days.

Yeah I was looking at the new hak changes on the classes and thought itd be nice to have the specific details on "paper" somewhere, so I figured id update the wiki while im at it. Still plenty of stuff missing though, the cleric domains and so on. But I think from now on ill try to update the class/spell changes sections every now and then when I have the time and energy.

OK, the class/feats topic is now up to date. Guess I'll bring the Domains page up to date with Selvec's efforts, while I'm at it.

De rien and done.

Gorm Gulthym might just be the same as Gorm Ghultyn.
&
Grazzt might be the same as Graz'zt.

Both might be amian typos that need fixing.
I'll add your system to those as well.

Thanks to Phearnun, which I shamelessly copy/pasted, H-P are given Amian Domains.

I've also noticed a few deities that could use some sprucing up, be it added info, non-existent or a nice sidebar.
  • Laduguer
  • Lolth
  • Luthic
  • Maglubiyet
  • Marthammor Duin
  • The Devil Lords
  • The Queen of Air and Darkness

The devil lords are definitively on my own list. I will also do the entry on Baator properly. They get a nice bonus as I am a big fan of them. The icky demons will need to wait.

Deity-Domains are done.

I've done the previous ones safe the devil lords. I'll continue with these next.
I did change a lot on Maglubiyet so if we have a lore goblin that wants to look over it, that would be nice.

Just a general request on courteousy on the wiki. If you have a character that once led a faction, please do not remove his or her name from the history of the faction and the list soley because you left the server in an unhappy manner. If there would be factual mistakes however, poke the one who wrote it or correct it yourself.

I'm not sure it's good sport to go into other players' character pages to edit certain names out of them, either. Correcting mistakes is okay, but removing every single mention of a character's name everywhere on the wiki is just removing a piece of Amian history, and potentially an important piece of a story. It's not good. =/

I know some people have removed their characters from the wiki by deleting the page content, which is somewhat pointless because it can still be read in the history, but there you go. I've talked to a few people who have done that and asked their permission to leave the information in the wiki because they have contributed to the history of the world and played a part in it. If someone wants to do that, though, I'm not going to override their choice. I would certainly not delete their page entirely unless they had a damn good reason for requesting it.

EDIT: If someone has deleted information from a faction page, for example, send me a PM and I'll look at it. The changes can always be rolled back.

I've reviewed the changes in question and reversed those that Phearnun did not undo. I see no reason for them that is consistent with the function of the wiki to record information about Amia, its history and its people.

If you wish to delete your own character profile, that is your choice, though I'd prefer that you didn't. It's not generally appropriate to delete information from pages that you yourself have not written.

The information in the Wiki may be selective or biased as it is usually told from the point of view of certain characters. However, if you feel you or your character is being unjustly slandered in some way (PC comments are IC and so can usually be considered 'justifiable slander' 8) ), contact one of the Wiki moderators/admins (probably Tormak, me or Maias).

Changes I did not undo were topics were I preferred to keep my hands out (other people's character opinions), or where the entry taken out was not up to date anyhow (Aigheshed).

Speaking about objectivity, I would welcome any input on character (those by me), faction, locations or timeline pages I added or participated working on. Besides the character opinions and character biased things such as in game book, the more objectivity the better.
