1.) Yay, Lore forum!

2.) Does anyone have any FR or Amia lore pertaining to the stars and constellations? A bit of idle Googling found me this, but it a lot of the info there is unsourced and therefore (IMHO) low-confidence data, and some of what is sourced is credited to (gasp!) the Spelljammer sourcebooks, which are a huge pile of steaming <expletive deleted>. I'm hoping for anything a bit more canonical.

Noticed this today when I was looking in the Library forum. Might be useful!

Ooo, very cool, thanks Sune!

Mahtan, if you're seeing this, a lot of the names you included there seem like they might be drawn from the same page I linked to above... do you happen to recall if you had any other sources?

That page I linked to in the first post wrote:
The Brow Star

The brightest star in the Mystra's Star Circle constellation, it marks due north. The Bedine of Anauroch know it as "Alagairtha," after the legend of a proud Bedine sorceress who is said to have challenged the gods long, long ago, and been imprisoned in the heavens as a punishment; to preserve her breathtaking beauty, but keep her forever frozen and helpless.

Ieriyn (The Sailor's Star)

The brightest star in the heavens, outshining even its' sister, Mystra's Star. The star's name comes from the navigational aid it has given to sailors through the ages. Located far above the northern pole of Faerun, as the night progresses Ieriyn does not rise or set, but always seems to be glued to a single point in the sky. So, at any time in the night you can find the Sailor's Star, as it is always in the North. If a ship got lost, they could always figure out their direction by finding Ieriyn. Not surprisingly, the Sailor's Star is held sacred to Selunites, and praised by sailors across Faerun. However, the navigational use of the star is not limited to the seas, and travelers, prospectors, and worshipers of Shaundakul all use the star for land-based travel.

Not sure which of these is closer to what you mean.

Ieryn would be the closest analog to the North Star.

Necro'ing this topic to add a "what the eff is this thing?" question! :)

I found a book called "The Three Moons" in one of the server's bookshops, and this is its text.

What the eff is this thing? Umm... Selune, though? Right, yeah? And the Tears? I'm utterly befuddled.

Um... the only reference I can find to those moons are so ancient I'm not even sure what to make of it.

It seems like it's from a DM Event story and I'm not even sure if anyone is still around to tell you what it could have been about. I sure as heck can't. Magnum Man was our O.G. server operator and head DM, so it really could have been anything given how much was in flux back then. Other than that, I can tell you that the names appear to be Gaelic for brother, sister, and mother. I doubt it's an FR cannon thing and honestly could probably be forgotten about, given they seem to have only been mentioned once and so early on in our history.

O, nice, that is some hella old lore. Yups, I think it can probably be safely ignored though - or better, just treated as the IC treatises and words of a character who might not know official names.
