What's more, it's completely within PnP rules to shoot someone at a distance of 10 feet or more and not come out of stealth, so people using HIPS to instantaneously hide after firing a single shot are well within the rules of D&D,

Sniping

If you’ve already successfully hidden at least 10 feet from your target, you can make one ranged attack, then immediately hide again. You take a -20 penalty on your Hide check to conceal yourself after the shot.

p.s. talking in stealth is stuppid

you're HIDING

making noise is counter to that

Everyone wants to be one of those whispering murderer characters. Pretty sure those creepy little girls from horror films are HIPSer's with a hacked hide/ms score.

Your own shadow can betray you when in hiding. Even a whisper is bound to have someone notice you and say "You my friend are fucked".

Title of this thread suggests a list... So! Here is a list of my top 5:
•Direct light, save for SDs that -may- then have shadows nearby to hide in.
•Making Noise.
•Manipulating the world around you. (gates/doors/chests/etc.)
•Changing cloths.
•Walking out in the open without feasible cover in stealth mode if you are -not- an SD with shadows about.

I think Dustspray has hit the nail on the head. And I'd say that's a DM ruling!

If you're stood under a lantern, or a light source...

So an SD that enter HiPS under the proper shadow-rule can't walk farther away from their shadow source in broad daylight because there's a sun above us? o ^ o

Not what I said. HIPS dictates you must be within 10 feet of a shadow that is not your own in order to hide in it... So, you have 10 ft of wiggle room to find the next shadow.

I know Direct Light is vague. It is simply the best way to define so many examples:
•Guard has a torch and you are visible in its light while you are dashing to more boxes to hide behind. Wham, you are seen. (SDs may benifit more as light helps make their precious shadows more plentiful)

•You have an item giving off light.

•Etc.

Poison needle: If you have the ability to deliver poison through a needle (I don't think you can - you can only apply it to weapons) I'm sure you can go for it as a quasi-non-hostile act. But most poisons suck anyway - like I said, walls of hit points. You could DC request an uber contact poison though I guess.

Well it seem you all are not hung up on injecting thru a needle, so that is good, as the hyper dermis needle wasn't invented until the mid-1800's, somewhat B4 the American civil war.

This is not a technology discussion. Needles aren't supported by mechanics and don't exist (to my knowledge) in game.

Anyways, the question of the OP has been answered.
