Just to get the definition out of the way.. "Multiboxing is a term used mostly in MMORPGs to refer to playing as multiple separate characters simultaneously. This can either be achieved by using multiple separate machines to run the game or by running multiple separate instances of the game." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-boxing. Now then, what is the view of the team towards the idea of a player doing this, and further more is it even possible to do with NWN and Amia even with multiple installations having separate valid CDKeys on one pc? I can see great potential for an experienced RPer to create set pieces for other players to get involved in as the multiboxing player would have more leverage to create an enthralling RP encounter for others, being able to control multiple actors and their input at the same time. Thoughts?

We had a discussion on this recently amongst the DMs. I believe the general concensus was that multiboxing was a no-go, even if it was possible. Far too much potential for abuse.

That's cheesy to say the least. Amia is for RP interactions with others, not to essentially DM your own little story. Because that's what you are doing, scripting through a RP encounter to guide things how you want it.
And, really, how good can you RP as two or more distinctively separate people at the same time? Granted, the DMs do it, but still. Not everyone can and I would shudder to find out I was RPing with a whole group of the same person.
NOTE: 'You' doesn't reference anyone in particular, just the generic 'you'.

Thanks for the clarification, I do not regard myself as someone who is firstly a great enough Roleplayer to pull this off, the idea crossed my mind of the possibility of even doing it and I thought it would be interesting to bring up encase anyone else was considering it.

It's possible in NwN. You simply need separate CD keys. So if you have 1 machine, running 2 installs of NwN with 2 CD keys, you can do it. Your IP will naturally be the same though.
If you have 2 separate machines with 2 separate installs and 2 CD-Keys. The machines could conceivably have two separate IP addresses and then, it would simply appear to be 2 separate players mechanically.
Of course it might be hard to actually pay attention to the 2 screens or type on both (etc).
And eventually, you are going to respond with one what the other should be saying...that is being human...lol.
Here on Amia, Gers has addressed the DM view on this so, from what he posted, I would say don't do it as it will mostly likely not end well for you or anyone else doing it.

It used to say in the Rules that this was a no-no. It no longer does?

The DM staff can use multiple NPC's at once to further a plotline, which is exactly why the playerbase shouldn't. Having that much potential input and control over any storyline defeats the purpose of such a large rp server, where the influence of others is supposed to fuel even your own personal plotlines.

Eh, I think he meant that you use multiple NPC's at once. Not actual multiboxing.

Oh Lord, I should have clarified, sorry!
When I meant 'Granted, the DMs do it, but still.' I only meant that they play the roles of multiple characters. As in, NPCs and such. Which, frankly, I'm amazed and pleased you guys are so good at it.
So no, I wasn't implying multiboxing there! I just explained that badly lol
