Kill themselves?
Jk, I guess you can make an attempt to resurrect the faction if you put your mind to it.

The leaders went inactive, first leader had computer problems, then the person who took over ended up being too busy with RL and went inactive. Then the person who took over afterwards disappeared, that building is cursed I tell you!! Nothing kills a faction like having no leader.

The faction is inactive. The forum was removed because of it.
This doesn't mean you can't RP your horseman anymore, I'm still doing it now and then.
And since the horsemen are not destroyed or anything you've any right to sleep in our grand castle ;)

It's good for the server to have less factions also. Else the playerbase are spread to thin and Alt's start to dominate the memberlists.

I agree...let's disband the Knights, Bendir Dale and Cordor Guard and make them all live at the Shrine with all those goodly drow!

hehe...

Sadly , while there may be a spread of players...players go where they feel they are going to enjoy themselves and thus...the Knights and the Hins and so on have where they want to be.

Maybe you can limit players to just one faction but I don't see how that helps in anyway and in fact, will bring alot of downside for no upside.

DMs are not babysitters and having alts is not necessarily a bad thing...just spreads your time out.

I think the best way to cull factions is...with factions that are popular recruiting the players in the straggler factions.

I'm not sure of all the factions mind you but, the only real thing I see is a lack of evil factions that are able to deal with the good factions....

And I am working on this issue as best I can....really....lol..I am...*wink*

I'd think the OP's question has been answered. The topic has nothing to do with disbanding factions for the sake of concentrating RP nor anything to do with the lack of evil faction altogether or the promotion thereof.

I agree...the HoA is basically dead, forum gone.

If people want to RP them being one..more power to them.

As for promoting my faction...that is not even close to why I said what I said.

I said it because there is nothing stopping someone from RPing becoming the faction leader with those that are still wanting to be HoA and the fact that the evil side of things seemed to have a decidedly lack of people right now.

Recently, the Banites have shown back up in force in game and are causing quite the stir.

But please, don't think I am a Banite or recruiting for them...lol

I'd love to see someone else take over the Horsemen, I know of a bunch of Horsemen players but they don't play those characters because there's no one to lead. Much like the Banites, instead of just letting the faction die find a new leader for them, someone active and willing to take on such a huge role. Leading a faction is no easy task.

I don't feel like the Horsemen -need- to have a 'leader'. Okay, the current set up is totally heirarchical. We've a military set up which suits the roleplay of the faction. But it is doable to play your horseman without a strong leadership.

What i'm saying is that the horsemen are all interesting characters that can keep the legend of the HoA up together. Even if it is just for some fun and intriguing roleplay.

Ok, uh. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that make the person next in line the 'leader'? That's how it's been passed down in the past, from High General, to General to Captain and so forth.

Saying that others can just play anyways and keep the legend alive is all well and good if we live in a perfect world. But faction members need something to keep them interested in the faction, otherwise they'll just keep playing alternate characters. I nominate Gondor for High General Apocalypse.

In some cases, finding a new leader does not work just like that. A faction would need someone who has been around and built his respect among the characters of the said faction. Even though a player may be respected OOCly, that does not mean that his character shall be respected ICly. For instance if you bring a new leader to Banites by making a new toon, most of the characters wont fear him at all. No fear - no Banite faction. Bring Darthion back and see what happens. Banites would explode on Amia in the matter of hours.

The same goes with HoA and generally any evil faction with strong hiearchy.

PS Also, being the leader of a dead faction is not attractive at all.

Not in every case though it does certainly help for sure. I've seen new characters come in and make a huge difference on the server and in factions so something can be said for dedication.

True enough, but being the sole low ranking member of a dead faction has even less appeal doesn't it. At least the leader can rebuild, HoAs death was due to OOC circumstances, not IC ones.

It's a faction that comes with a huge castle. I don't know why more don't want to take advantage of this.

If I wanted to join this faction now.....how would I go about that if nobody from this faction is online? Is there a way I can do this?

I suggest not doing it just because there's a castle. IT doesn't make the faction.

I wrote my post badly because I was trying to say two different things instead of blending those two things tougether. I meant to ask the question of what happens to that castle if the faction is gone, and then I wanted to offer to join the HoA OOCly, or gain information about how to do so IG if any Horsemen were still around.

Well, right now, what you got in game is what you got. If the Horsemen are gone, then suddenly you got mercenaries not being paid and no master enforcing the cotnract a few devils got, and no one holding back an army of orcs. Oh, and a fancy castle that both the unpaid mercs and devils now have free run of, along with a wizard who manages the portals.

Chillwyck is, of course, used to this situation, but it does paint an interesting picture of the area, doesn't it?

IC actions should have consequences. The HoA have contracts to keep and if they don't because of inactivity then it'll be followed by a consequence.

I'm still Active and i actually have a PC who is still around and has been Captain War for quite some time although i wish the leaders were still around but to my knowledge Rose and Bor both became elders and left the Faction in the hands of Valkin ie [Captain death] later appointed as Apocalypse who sadly hasn't been on for a while, and the was a lot of OCC mess that needed clearing up

i still am willing to take up people just haven't really seen anyone really keen for it since the mess and stuff happened that really wasn't okay :/

if there is Interest im more than willing to help :D , is a good Faction just some people didn't agree

There's even a few former Horsemen that would possibly be persuaded to help, or players of former Horsemen... One Bor contacted IC, Former Nihilus... They're not dead, but with no leadership, the type of group the HoA was won't stand, its not a group of anarchists, but Militant tyrants.

I'll bring Rose back and put everything back to order...lol well as much as it can be. She'll come out of retirement as an Elder after hearing on the wind of Nihilus's dissappearance. -Once- I get this blasted game installed and working. >.< Just look for me in game or chime in here if you have a Horsemen you want to play. I'll note your login...go ahead and put your character name down also to help me out I'll note that too, we'll tackle recruiting later. I'll have to get a feel IG on how bad off the HoA is and what rp will be needed to get them back up and running. Since I've been gone I have -no- idea whats been going on. Don't spoil it for me though, I'd rather rp in game the situation, and get to know all the new members should be fun lol and interesting, especially for the new ones that don't know Apocalypse(Rose). Look forward to it all, I'll be looking for you all in game. Now back to the installation. *pulls hair out*

-update-
*glues hair back on after getting everthing sorted*

I'm up and running DL'ing the haks now, I'll drop in shortly and take a look around.

It would be more ideal if the Pedestrians of Apocalypse merged into another faction. That would give more people to RP with and strengthen both factions

Life, nor the game, is black and white. It's not evil vs good. Seems like you're a bit off.

Life, nor the game, is black and white. It's not evil vs good. Seems like you're a bit off.

What on earth are you talking about?

That seems silly, especially considering the HoA is a standalone faction. Not only that, unless I'm wrong, they are only semi-mergeable with the Banites. I cannot think of another faction with a close enough structure. War Knights, maybe, but I highly doubt it.

The Triadic Knights should merge with the Grove, because there is no reason why they shouldn't. Greenhouse gases are a serious threat to both the nature and humanity. Both factions believe in the same values, anyway.
