Well, I mean the -relationship part of the RP-. Usually if you're making out, having a couples fight, talking about dinner, going to dinner, having a fun night on a beach, or whatever.

I'm not saying it's irrelevant to your RP or whatever. I'm just saying that 9/10 any relationship RP is not very inclusive to any other player.

It's kind of the same reason alot of the DM's a while back stated they rarely ever give any DC's for relationship RP.

Also

@Rosencrantz - Drow are unfortunately very needy and annoying in the sense that you plan something for months and then it finally works -- and they lose their precious powers, instead of plotting to take it back, they simply just complain and / or quit. It has opened over and over.. and over. (This can be as simple as a shift from 2nd house to 3rd house) Nothing even has to really physically change. I think you'd do well to stay away from drow. Hard for me to say, since I love drow.

If you're looking for a character concept, talk to me via PM / In game. I can help you out maybe!

I will give DCs, however, if your relationship RP involves hardcore penetration, gallons of bodily fluids, screaming, dirty talk so dirty it makes me want to vomit all over myself, snuff, animals, waterboard blowjobs, grumpkins, an entire chain of dutch windmills or mangled and mismatched body parts. Right before I ban you.

There are far more, imo, who's problems in real life cause them to run around seeking fights, playing 'chase me, chase me' with people of the opposing ethos, or standing about looking broody and sinister, or 'powerful', than there are using it to fill in a gap in their social life. Not aiming this at anyone in particular, of course, just a broad generalisation of many (TOO many, in fact) that I have seen on this Server in the time I have been here.

+1

I also see too many LG who is actually LN or even LE

Or LS.

Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of LS behavior around. Although... I have seen a lot less of it around these days than I did when I first started playing here.

Unfortunately this is very accurate in my experience. No amount of planning will end up feeling rewarding because, most of the time, people consider you the bad guy for... having your PC do what any drow should, I suppose?

Which is why drow should be a platinum race. It takes a special player to handle the fact that the Players are great, BUT their characters would sell their mothers if they thought Lolth would reward them.

My characaters have done crappy, underhanded things to other characters yet I will tell you I think long and hard about it and come up with possible ways they might come back before I do anything. I have even been known to make sure that players understand how to bring back their character who is now a pile of ash.

I think the reason that the Lolthite Drow can't be changed much from the nasty, underhanded, manipulating folk they are is because it's kind of fun to do something that you'd never do in RL. And it's simple. Your character wants power, will do anything to get it and smiles to the victims face while plotting their downfall. Not to mention if you do it right there is no PVP involved. It's cool knowing you can be clever.

I enjoyed all of Rosen's drow characters. Conspiring to liven up a matron meeting, priceless. SlkNihilus too, watching the planning of the fall of a house, amazing. I found you both inspiring. In an evil, wicked, mean and nasty way of course. :)

If we made all Drow special request only we may as well just get rid of all the Drow stuff.

I've seen every end of the "relationship RP" spectrum and can comfortably say there's a mix of everything and that, fortunately, most of it is on the constructive end. The ones that aren't, know it, and generally everyone else know sit too. The social pressure and ostracization is enough.

I never understood why people say these things when they never actually participate in what they presume to be the type of RP that they don't like. No, much to your surprise, most of us are working toward affecting the server in one way or another. Whether or not there's too much RP that you don't care about in the middle is another story. But don't think people aren't actually trying to affect the world.

Please don't discredit people just because you think their RP is something that it isn't. It's fine to enjoy whatever you think is a minority RP with your own little group of people, but to say most people don't care about plot or changes to the server is complete and utter BS. We are all working on making things happen on the server and you insult everyone by presuming otherwise.

Reading into my post a bit more then was intended, no offense was meant even if you saw it as such, was simply stating the different points of view as to what others find fun. I love plots to be sure but not everything is plot plot plot. Though I can see how it might be seen as offensive but I tend to over simplify things so my point gets across without needing to throw in an extra few sentences :P What I MEANT was, to each his own

I don't mind relationship RP as long as it doesn't seem like that's the entire character concept. Like those whose entire RP is snuggles, huggles, and giggles, I know there are people like that in real life too, unfortunately.

Analyse and dissect RP too often, watch the fun and immersion slowly fade from sight.

And the same goes for my opinion, but if everyone thought along those lines threads like this wouldn't exist would they.

Characters do tend to snuggle hug and giggle if they're affectionate. It does get a bit overdone, and it sticks out because often the words are used on their own without a lot of context to go on. Also, since they are short to type and there isn't always a decent pause between one and the next, it can seem like you're being machine-gunned with *h*'s.
