Those people entering into the small mountain settlement find quite the surprise. Where once stood the proud Logjammer and other buildings, there are now only charred timbers... if that... some buildings seem to have been completely destroyed as if they never even existed. Just due south of where the Logjammer once stood is the epicenter of a rather large crater. To the northeast of where the inn once sat is the epicenter of yet another crater, seemingly identical in radius and depth of the first one.

Further investigation will find the residents of Guldorand hidden out in the nearby caves. Huddled in small groups, talks of rebuilding are intermingled with hushed words of complete abandonment of their simple homesteads. Rumors of dragons, cloaked mages, elves and drow circle throughout the small, temporary encampment with each rumor being more outlandish than the last.

One thing is for certain, however... whatever happened in Guldorand will take it's toll on the people there.

// The update should be in the module soon. Please bear with us as we make the proper adjustments to the area and please RP accordingly.

Hashim hoios, Recently Exiled from the township of djedet, took the route from Nes'ek via the portal estimating it to be a shortcut towards the Magical Isle of Amia. He had an Oxen pull a wagon filled with mercantile of the most exquisite and exotic nature in tight leash as he pulled through the Guldorand Ruins and past the fat halfling out into the basking sun. He was Moving Shop to a more fruitful atmosphere where natural catastrophes did not hamper trade.

He could never have been prepared to what he was about to see. He stood, Perplexed and paralysed, for an hour at least before regaining the sanity to even speak. His first words were ....

Beldor surveys the area after following up rumors of an abduction, later solved. Looking at the carnage he grumbles to himself about how all the good drinking spots are disappearing.

Two large wooden chests are left within sight at the mouth of the cave. One with the note "For the Adults." Another with the message "For the Children."

Fine wines and Sweetberries, respectively.

Krugan with Amenia and Breazy continue their efforts to help those in need. Krugan will send word to Sir Jerand of the situation also and that aid is needed.

He will portal to Cordor and then back several times bringing supplies, sending a note to Grandmaster Yaston and one to Grandmaster Brandrik Brinston at the Triadic Knights and the Three Steps Academy the first time. (PMs sent)

He will continue his investigations, including shadow stepping and staying in HiPS and Invisible (both) while going around the mountains on patrol.

When not on patrol, he will chat among the leaders of the place, specifically Gustov, the little Gnome and the semi leader in what use to be the Logjammer. He will encourage them to stay in their place and prepare more defenses, even going over some of the details with whomever would listen using his knowledge of warfare from his time in the Rogue of Tilverton and his life there under near constant war from Zhentil Keep.

He will also specifically ask if any can think or remember of any elves or drow that seemed to be around in the last ten day.

Hashim sat on his wagon surveying the carnage. He does not move, Nor does he speak. The oxen tied to the wagon moves about grazing on the small spots of grass that can be seen here and there. The oxen is quite comfortable though probably wish that his owner removed the collar so it could walk freely around the ruins of Guldorand. What did it care for the destruction when there was leaves to nibble on and frost covered grass?

Hashim's burning eyes had dimmed slightly over the passing hours and occasionally there was the sound of water instantly vaporising. Hashim was crying, soft tears that instantly were turned into steam by his fiery temperature. Slowly he folded his arms around himself and started to shake.

Tonight was perhaps the first time hashim truly felt cold.

The Mayor of Bendir Dale personally invites any individuals from Guldorand seeking food and shelter a free stay at the Hinn Inn, with meals and such included. She particularly urges elders and children to come to the Dale, rather than staying in the cold caves of Skull Crags. Even those who seek temporary visit to simply eat and drink are welcome and is paid for by the Mayor herself.

While a particular bard barely acknowledges the near destruction of Guldorand, the sudden fizzle and 'death' of the portal evokes a series of reactions. First, a surprised gasp. Then an annoyed sigh and finally a self-assured smirk.

And just like that, the mourning process has come and gone.

A young man in his late teens arrives at Guldorand bearing a letter. He is garbed in a simple suit of chainmail underneath a tunic of burgundy and sun bleached white, now more resembling a mixture of beige and tan. Stiched upon his tunic is a coat-of-arms depicting two lions holding a shield, divided per Cross showing a fleur-de-lis and three lions, under a crown. He beckons the victims of this tragedy to lend him an ear as he reads aloud from a roll of parchment.

Peoples of Guldorand,

due to the vile deed inflicted upon your peaceful community by a foe that would build it's existance on the shattered dreams of an innocent peoples, my lord Sir Robert Caris-Denoix, second of his name, has sent me to inform you that his house shall spare no expense in his aid to Guldorand, should it be accepted. Four million gold of his personal treasury and thousands of building materials stand to your disposal as a token of his solidarity. He has also told me to inform you that he shall lend his ear to any citizen of this community that would require his attention in this most grievous and difficult time. My lord shall arrive as soon as he may to offer you his hand, as he has before in the crisis with the Church of Bane.

May the Maiden of the Grail deliever you Justice.

Hashim would help himself with the supplies, not really caring for the benefactor. He does not speak and mostly just take what he need before returning to the cart and the oxen still tied to the cart close to Guilinan's hold. He climbs up on the driver's seat and just sits there, occasionally nibbling on something.

A squire of the Triadic Knights bearing the symbol of Ilmater arrives to Guldorand carrying mostly healing supplies, but little food as well. He would offer his help to the Salandran healer, while trying to find out what happened in the village by asking some of the villagers if they would remember anything.

Like it or not, Hashim would have to interact with Ashlynn to get any sort of supplies, as she is delivering them personally. The focus is to provide for the victims, it seems. Not for just anyone who wanders by. She is kind, however, continues to sort food and water for distribution.

Kurchin would stop by, and though visibly uncomfortable in the cold region of Guldorand, the kobold is sure to make trips to deliver food for the villagers. He brings some items he has baked himself, mostly pies and honey glazed ham, but he also brings some bread and rolls that he's bought at Bemmi's. He would also offer some simple cantrips to the locals in case any need basic healing or an item mended of simple damages.

He stays as long as needed, then heads off back towards Bendir Dale.

Hashim finds himself the target of quite a few stones and random sticks as the people's of Guldorand see him trying to pilfer the supplies sent by their benefactors. Calls of "Thief" and "Coward" ring out among the crowd. The barrage of sticks and stones don't cease until Hashim takes his oxen and departs from the ruined settlement.

Hashims patience is truly tested in the wake of destruction, to much actually. It does not take long for hashim to flare up and with Eyes burning with a very real fire he childishly returns a few of the stones to their original owners with brutal force before accompanied by vivid insults in a foreign language. His temperament turns from sad melancholy into a fierce thunderstorm, screaming at the closest one to back off unless public decapitation is something they enjoy watching.

His words are harsh towards the survivors of Guldorand for they are loaded with grief and guilt. Soon he is seen leading the oxen and into Gulinan's hold with his belongings. He parks it near the Khem portal and sets in deeper into the hold only to return a few moments later with a decapitated Bugbear's head which he sticks on a pike near his temporary camp.

The head speaks volumes of how much he wish to have visitors right now.

The people's of Guldorand back off, but set up a makeshift watch over Hashim's camp. Any adventurers that come to ask about their welfare definitely get an ear full about Hashim's antics and recent actions as they tend to those injured in his outburst.

Dame Ashlynn Lenneson, as she has by now introduced herself as, seems to support the people's actions regarding Hashim. When she is not distributing water and food, which have been sorted by her and another woman, she is taking turns watching Hashim's camp. Torches planted around the perimeter of the refugee camp and a particularly displeased paladin seems to indicate how welcome Hashim is to return at this point in time.

Squire Vest would first wonder what's going on when he returns to Guldorand through the portal from Nes'ek. After noticing the spiked head, he would try to remove it.

The fire genasi would turn towards the visitor and motion him to sit, eyes burning with suspicion. Whether the visitor sat or not he would nevertheless respond between gritted teeth whilst absent-mindedly carving on a piece of wood.

-"Hashim is here to search for the wereabouts of a girl he held dear - This is why ana stays.

Now back off before your head adorns the pike instead of the bugbear'.

The piked bugbear head hung where it had hung for the remaining twenty four hours with a displeased grin.

He would meet no resistance. But the moment the knight went out of sight, Hashim would promptly walk into the deeper reaches of Guilinan's hold and come dragging off with another. It seemed that whatever the outcome was, more bugbears were to share the same fate as the Headless knight that laid in the depths of Guilinan's hold.
And hashim really wanted to be left alone.

*Krugan would take a seat, warming his hands inside his gloves by rubbing them together and keeping them tucked near his waist. When told of the girl, he would respond.*

*He would otherwise remain sitting, even when told to back off, as if simply waiting for the name of the woman or at least some kind of response while keeping an eye on Amenia and what she is doing.*

Kurchin stops by Guldorand again, this time with a shipment much the same as his last one. Food he's baked and cooked himself, some rolls from Bendir. He also comes with a sizable rug (which he uses to put spare plates of food on), and also gives them a minorly magical amulet which wards off the cold.

The kobold is sure to stick around for longer than he did before, offering aid with a mending spell, in cooking, baking, conversation, or a hug if any of them desired it.

He is however, certain to stay away from Hashim's camp, and winces when he sees the severed head.

A Tormtaran Squire of the Triadic Knights worked busily in Kohlingen, readying materials of building for the people of Guldorand and their needs. She bowed her head and prayed to Torm for their safety , having at one time lived in the village when she was younger.

"You would to your lady friend little good laying face down in the snow of this place. I doubt few would care if you fell given the recent unpleasantness. Do you not think it would be far wiser to simply tell me of this woman so that I might help you? Especially if she was here when the invaders came. She could be a hostage you do realize."

With that, he will rise slightly to the balls of his feet, making mental notes of the shadows about the ruined town.

"I call it the hellball heard across Amia," says Secretary Pincer of Cordor's Ministry of Finance to a clerk swamped in accepting written complaints from individual vendors, whose clamor fills the Commonwealth Center. Dozens of market deals on lumber and finished timber products entirely defaulted on due to two missed shipments of lumber from the decimated town. While the merchants themselves are sympathetic, their buyers, both foreign and domestic, are not. The Secretary chews on the tip of his quill until it snaps in his mouth, a trail of black ink marring his blonde mustache. "Adventurers have all the coin in the world to spend on the most worthless magical junk, but all it takes is one spell to cost us..."

He pauses, scribbling furious numbers into the newly created deficits ledger. His face turns sour.

"...five and a half times their market income. Bloody bastards."

The crowd only grows, severely burdening the Ministry of Finance in the wake of Guldorand's abrupt seizure of lumber. The following day, it is announced both in the Amian Recorder and via personal courier deliveries to every door (residential and business alike) that the potential exists for a significant increase in both rental and sales taxes to cover the critical shortage of lumber halted from Guldorand. No percentages are named, or even promised, but they certainly seem threatened.

Only one press release mitigates these concerns while catching the eye of those opportunistic enough to take the effort.

To Citizens of the Commonwealth of Cordor,

The Guldorand Logging Co., based in the mountain community of Guldorand, is no longer in operation due to an adventurer-wrought disaster that could have been prevented with the kind of adequate oversight of the adventuring community that the Commonwealth immediately put into place during the provisional government. The Commonwealth formally urges refugees of Guldorand to apply for citizenship in the Commonwealth of Cordor. The Ministry of Labor has been provided special dispensation to work directly with you to find you an adequate trade so that your families can be supported anew.

Numerous shipments have been delayed and payments have been defaulted after two failed deliveries of lumber. It is the Commonwealth's understanding that the people of Guldorand have abandoned the site of the Guldorand Logging Co. and the company itself has been dissolved, leaving the rich timber in the Skull Crags unclaimed.

Therefore Speaker Joseph Maximillian, acting Minister of Finance, is prepared to outfit a citizen-based reclamation team to travel to the former Guldorand site, secure it, claim it, and begin rebuilding it as a merchant outpost of the Commonwealth. This reclamation team is encouraged to use their generous grant from the Ministry of Finance to hire those familiar with Guldorand and its environs, including its former villagers now out of work, to help with reclaiming the territory and its lumber not only for the Commonwealth but for all of those Amian communities who continue to rely on Cordor to circulate Guldorand's lumber.

Interested parties respond immediately at CCC Box 1. Please include resumes. The most likely applicants will be provided with a contract of service. Only Citizens of the Commonwealth are eligible.

Artum surveys the devastation on one of his travels from Ne'sek through the portal to the once outpost then sees and hears the declaration. He then heads off to sent to missives, one for citizenship and one to seek to aid this effort.

Among the devastation of Guldorand, Sir Justin Fairfax, Lady Mia Niaconda and Keeper Gorm arive with tents, blankets cooking pots, food and supplies.

It is part of Kohlingen's efforts to aid the suffering of Guldorand, and the communities of Khem. The aid is offered freely just as the Knights had done for the people of Cyren Mills during their hardship.

He tells them that Lady Nicha Hetfield and some of the Order will be there to help them and protect them while we deliver aid to them and Khem. He assures them they are not alone for he knows Sir Robert of Caris and the good folk of Bendir will aid them.

"We will aid you as we did Cyren Mills. We aided until they could take care of themselves and then we left. Be of good courage and have hope for you have friends and neighbors."

With the decimation wreaked on Guldorand, word is slow to trickle to the now ruined outpost. Though as it does, more than a few of the male residents decide it may be in their best interest to take Cordor up on it's offer and CCC Box 1 immediately begins to see applications for citizenship with crudely written resumes included.

Sawyers, lumberjacks and carpenters all apply in hopes of gleaning some sort of silver lining for the horribly dark cloud that currently hangs over their lives.

While many of the men make the trip to Cordor the womenfolk and children remain behind, genuinely thankful for whatever succor benevolent adventurers offer.

Coordinated relief efforts from the Dale makes its way to Guldorand fairly frequently, delivering numerous supplies on day to day basis.

*Cory Shadowflame could be seen handing out some letters around Guldorand*

Hello citizens of Guldorand, I am sorry for the loss of your homes and your livelihood.

my name is Cory Shadowflame I used to reside on Amia but moved to the Island of Caraigh near Wiltun in Ruathym, Caraigh is unsettled for the most part save for the small town of Ceyren's Mill but the land is rich in untapped resources from Lumber to Stone and even some gemstones.

I came to offer a suggestion should any of you wish to leave the Island of Amia and start anew that Caraigh would welcome some hardworking folks such as yourselves, like all places it has its hardships as well but none that you have not allready faced on Amia island that I witnessed from avalanches, to monster attacks, raids and the effects of military occupations.

I completely understand the desire to stay should that be the case, I just wished to offer the idea to the citizens of Guldorand incase you felt that you lacked any other options.

Cory Shadowflame.

Krugan will offer to escort or portal any men that need to travel and ask Amenia to remain behind with the women and children, watching over them and using her magics as she can to ease their sufferings.

Loynis Griffonheart is seen within the ruins of the logging town, adorned as per normal in his Dawnguard armour prominently featuring the symbol of Lathander over his tabbard, he makes his way around the town, searching for the locals, should he manage to catch up with any he would inquire as to where he may find a location he can store a donation to the township for reconstruction purposes...

Crow can be seen on occasion in Guldorand, with Adela or Nicha.
They cover the area, looking for Banites, or helping out where needed.
He keeps a wary eye on Hashim, and if he causes trouble while Crow is there, Crow would confront him.

Left in CCC box #1

The envelope contains a copy of a press release as well as a letter that appears to be a self-made resume or application. Evidently the writer either couldn't find or couldn't be bothered to find an actual one.

Dame Ashlynn Lenneson is quite grateful for the supplies which she has before been paying for with her own gold, even if the only reason she carried any significant amount of wealth. In some days, after sorting the bulk of what has arrived with some volunteers, Ashlynn speaks with some of the people she regularly distributes supplies to and helps them sign a letter to thank their benefactors in the Dale. If they are willing, that is.

The people of Guldorand are very thankful for the relief efforts and Ashlynn has no problem finding volunteers to help sort what's given or in getting people to sign her letter to Bendir Dale.

Having a chat with a few of the other people that arrived shortly after the explosions to investigate, E'dalar would wander around town, silently mourning the loss of the inn and thereby another portal painting. Being somewhat certain what might have caused these explosions, he would walk into Glinulan's Hold and make use of the portal to Khem.

Taelar is delivered a letter by courier. It does not show up in his CCC box, but rather, he is found out by a Commonwealth courier and handed the announcement personally, due to the very time sensitive nature of the project.

Artum Tauri receives a very similar letter enclosed with his notification of citizenship approval.

Stalwart Citizens of the Commonwealth of Cordor,

Speaker Maximillian himself applauds your diligence and sense of duty to the Commonwealth in pursuing this effort on behalf of the people of Guldorand, the greater peoples of the Isle of Amia, and the Commonwealth of Cordor itself. Reclamation of the Guldorand territory and the Guldorand Logging Co. is absolutely essential to the continued prosperity of the region. Other groups are already providing humanitarian effort, but the Commonwealth is taking the initiative, through you, to continue the logging industry that has, in the wake of adventurer terrorism, collapsed completely.

The first order of business is to ensure that you communicate with one another and can begin to formulate an operation.

Taelar is provided with Artum Tauri's CCC Box number, and vice versa. (You have reason to contact one another via PMs or IG now.)

The second order of business is to establish your role in this venture. As such, you are both named as equal partners in a contract with the Commonwealth to provide this service. A copy of said contract is enclosed.

The contract itself is several pages long and, under the inspection of intelligent, legal eyes, is sensible and watertight. It grants those specifically named (Artum and Taelar) with Settlement Rights to the territory once owned by the Guldorand Logging Co, as soon as the Guldorand Logging Co. is owned by the Commonwealth of Cordor. It outlines their individual duties and responsibilities, none of which are overly taxing, should an outpost of the Commonwealth be established. In addition, there are several provisional guidelines in the contract for how to file and submit requisition forms, how to grant any locals of Guldorand still in the mountainous region a "temporary citizenship" that would allow the people of Guldorand to immediately return to the logging industry even while their citizenship examinations haven't been completed (providing them a 90-day period to begin the process), and an outline of how security will be handled: by an approved 50% increase to the Adventuring Division's annual budget specifically intended for the Captain of the Adventuring Division, Neveah Tarvencia, to employ a special guard unit specifically for the Guldorand outpost of the Commonwealth of Cordor.

It becomes clear that the entire contract hinges on one very specific detail: the ownership of the Guldorand Logging Co. The contract makes it clear that the territory of Guldorand is in fact land owned by the owner of the Guldorand Logging Co. Whoever has the license for the Guldorand Logging Co. owns the territory of Guldorand and may settle it accordingly.

As such, Taelar and Artum exclusively are provided with the name and a few scant details of the individual who owns the Guldorand Logging Co. They are provided with a sum of 200,000 in golden coin and instructed to locate the owner and encourage him to sell the hemorrhaging business to them vis a vis the contract the Commonwealth has provided. They are instructed to lowball at 75,000 initially and work they way up as necessary, with a ceiling of two hundred grand. They are provided with hordes of land survey paperwork and Ministry of Finance supported documentation that gives both the land value of Guldorand and the profit value of the Guldorand Logging Co., assessing it at near or around 80,000 annual. The ceiling of the money, therefore, will settle the owner for a good two and a half years, plenty of time to find other avenues to invest money (they are encouraged to encourage him to consider opportunities through the Ministry of Finance in the Commonwealth of Cordor...and even told, in no small language, to actively discourage the owner from dealing with the Cordorian Merchant's Guild, a private rather than a state-sponsored merchant guild in Cordor).

The name and details of the owner will be provided by ainjyll.

(This is being done this way to expedite your RP IG. Everything seems expedited, almost rushed, as the Commonwealth urges you both to get cracking on this immediately...and provides you with a small budget of 50,000 gold which you may use to hire experts to assist you and any necessary materials.)

Artum receives his letter, thanking the courier and offering a small amount of gold (100 coins) as a small thank you telling him to later have some good relaxation, be it a visit to the Temple of Love, a good meal with some drink, a good amount of drink with a small meal or whatever the courier would enjoy.

He then sends missives to both the Speaker and the good Captain as well as leaving a note for his partner then, heads to the logging camp to personally visit with the people after locating as many carpenters, sawyers, blacksmiths as he can, a butcher, a pig farmer, a poultry farmer, a architect and a few dozen unemployed people to help carry tools and working supplies including shovels, hammers, saws, barrels of nails, hoes, rakes and wire to the carts as well as several veteran guards, if allowed, to assess for the Captain anything they feel she would need to know. He then takes the small caravan and heads to the town to begin rebuilding while personally intending to visit the owner of the Logging Company. If the owner can not be found in the ruined town, he will send a letter to him detailing his efforts and seeking to have a meeting with him in the ruined camp.

He also leaves word with his partner via the CCC box of his plans and actions, stating that it seems clear the Speaker and the Council wish this matter to be quickly undertaken and the contract settled and done.

Those who visit the destroyed town of Guldorand find the refugees there abuzz with excitement. Any who ask would find out that the source of this electricity in the air is the anticipation of Nicolai Dobraun, the reclusive owner of the Guldorand Logging Company, coming to personally oversee the destruction wrought to his small logging town. Letter arrived earlier that morning by courier, so Nicolai should be only a day or two behind.

// Bit busy with work over the next day or two, but anyone who's trying to search out Nicolai can shoot me a PM and we'll get the ball rolling as soon as I'm able to get IG.
