Yo, As I have stressed, on numerous occasions, Edonil is player run, but don't expect us DMs to sit idly by when complaints come in on almost a weekly basis. I am not picking on any of you specifically but rather clarifying expectations of all of you in regards to PvP as there has been an awful lot of this going on as of late and it is simply causing trouble. Here they are:
1) Drow culture praises subtlety, so, all of this openly attacking foes or assaulting homes, etc, does not fly as it only serves to create a volatile atmosphere. Be mindful of how these actions effect NPCs as well if you want to see Edonil, as a town, flourish.
2) RP is supposed to be fun for everyone. Even if your character is being a dick IC, remember to be civil/kind to each other OOC wise. Drow RP dictates you guys to usually play some pretty cold people, but the players behind the toons aren't so cold.
3) PvP is very much a part of Drow RP, but there is no reason for it to be so highly combat based. House vs House in traditional lore means working towards goals in competitive fashion... not slitting the throats of some folks because it is easier.
I say all of this on the basis that you guys have been moving/shaping Edonil towards a more lore-based traditionalist sort of Drow establishment. It simply flies in the face of all that RP when folks poke holes in it because they would like to poke holes in each other's PCs and choose not to keep it in line or civil.

What he said everyone. I am an advocate that PVP Battle is going to settle nothing. Like old school Ultranna rules.

Thank you Dustspray.
Also please note that are certain laws that when broken the dogma requires that the lawbreaker is to be killed. Just because this is the IC consequence for your IC action doesn't mean that your character is automatically banished. Those in power in Edonil (PC's) are working really hard at finding ways for lawbreakers to be given ways to redeem themselves.
This doesn't mean you get to do anything you want if it opposes the current leaders. Oh and going against a priestess openly is /always/ a bad idea.
I would like to commend the players of Gloth, Sabrar and Sirin for making a possible PVP in the streets into a little scuffle instead. There were dice rolls and great emotes. Thanks guys!

I completely agree with Dust 110%.
Often times you'll see mention of the "glory days" of drow RP.... back when the houses in Ultrinnan were Arabett, Vandree, Qos'Yutsu, Tinnerai and Do'Veldran. These houses were led by matrons who still have their names whispered in fear IC'ly. But you know what? We never PvP'd. Like ever. I can remember Bree getting into less than a dozen PvP events... only 1 of those was against other drow. It just didn't happen. Ever. When it did... it was a huge event... the stuff of legends that would drive two houses to open war.
People would plot for hours a day, for weeks at a time to figure out the perfect way to make someone else look bad while coming out like a rose themselves. When hours upon hours upon hours of planning finally pay off.... that's what makes it all worth it. Yeah, you get a rush from a quick PvP win.... but utterly destroying an enemy without ever having to raise a weapon or cast a spell is the most satisfying victory one can ever taste.

Yah. I just remember the first thing i learned in Ultranna that you'll never gain a rank by PVPing a superior. It only made you look bad, and your house pay for it at the matron's table.

I'd like to add that PvP, just like any other In-Game action, is most happily focused around everyone having fun as a whole. Drow RP in general can tend to get selfish (as that's how drow should be!), but that doesn't mean that you can't use the PvP and selfish characters to create fun for every player! Boiling that down means: If you're the winner of a PvP battle, make sure the losers are being interacted with in a way that's going to create entertainment for everyone. Being creative will not only help the fun improve, but I think it could make the PvP dwindle as people find that creative ways create more entertainment than slashslash. The more you can delve into another person's character, the more you can fuck with it. It's like what ainjyll said, but doesn't just focus on the victory. It's not a rule, but it's advice that has kept many people going longer in my experience.

Thanks for the positive feedback so far you all. However, this doesn't seem to have gotten across to all of you, so please allow me to try to be clearer: Blatant PvP (combat form) has got to stop. End of story. You guys are above this and so is Drow society. I hate to phrase it like this, but it has been getting to a point where unless you guys are aiming at Edonil becoming a ghost town (as the NPCs will start to slowly move away due to the display of PC actions being heretical by Drow standards) this open-street/public place fighting has got to be cut. Also, "Lolth loves chaos" is not an escuse. Lolth loves chaos, sure, but she hates seeing Drow viciously assault other Drow without it being the result of a 99.9% cunning plan hatched ages ago. Exceptions to this are pretty much as follows: Grand Melee hosted by the Magthere as a public display of how well trained Edonil's finest are with the side chance of effecting house standing? Way to go guys! Sorcere sanctions a mages faire with some wizard duels as a public display of how well trained Edonil's finest are with the side chance of effecting house standing? Awesome! Temple wants to flex the arm of the Spider Guard with some gladiator-style events highlighting Drow superiority over Monster Races (potentially monster PCs) of the UD? Sweet! The Temple declares it time for a good sacrifice or two and your matrons call you to raid that misguided tree-hugger town called Winya? Oo! Stuff of legends, especially if successful! Drow A hates Drow B because they said some shit behind their back and so they just walk up and shank them in the side? NO! Bad! I don't mean to sound belittling or any of that. I have the highest respect for you guys. I simply dislike watching what has been months of awesome RP (so much so I even went out on a limb to send Edonil more NPCs as I thought the town worthy of attracting them) get tossed out the window in favor of Back Alley Grudge Match: UD edition.
