TEMPLE LAWS

Law One: No jaluk or jalil whom is unranked in Edonil shall enter the Temple foyer without a priestess escort. (Must be registered in an academy or a member of a Nobel house)

Law Two: No one whom is not ranked in the Temple is allowed into the alter room or through the doors to the offices without a priestess escort. (Only priestesses on the official roster are allowed into the interior of the Temple unescorted)

Law Three: No individual currently ranked in Edonil shall be sacrificed without the approval of Ul’ath’tallar Widow, Yath’tallar Elvinna’dris, Yath'tallar Jhal'vyrae and Yath'tallar Nizzre'tyne.

Law Four: No rivvil or darthiir or other captured lesser shall enter the Temple unless stripped, securely bound and preferably unconscious before being deposited in the guest room. Further no interrogation may take place without a priestess present.

Law Five: No helms or drawn weapons are allowed in the Temple. The ONLY exception are the official members of the Kyorl d’l’Orbb (Spider Guard).

Law Six: There will be no fighting in the streets of Edonil. Only those events announced in advance and sanctioned by Noble houses or the Temple are allowed.

Law Seven: Any individual that touches the Ul’ath’tallar shall be immediately restrained, stripped and thrown into the Temple jail cell to await judgment of punishment for daring to touch the voice of Lolth in Edonil.

Anyone caught breaking Laws One through Six are subject to punishment at the whim of the priestess on duty. The Ul'ath'tallar shall review all punishments and add her own as necessary.

Yath'abban (Temple Agent)

Yath'abban Requirements: (L1+ Cleric of Lloth)
- Capable of casting divine spells granted by the Spider Queen.
- Must be both female and full blooded drow.
- Possess a basic knowledge of Lloth and Her dogma.
- Pledge their life in service to the temple and the Spider Queen.

Yath'abban Responsibilities:
- Show respect to members of all ranks that are above themselves and refer to their superiors by their title.
- Obey all orders given by higher ranking members of the Yath.
- Participate in regular tours through the city to search for law-breakers, unruly or idle jaluken, and for any signs of heresy.
- Assist Yathrinen with rituals such as sacrifices and familiarize themselves with the tenants of Lolth.
- Monitor the health and activity of the temple and city spiders.
- Pursue knowledge and understanding in the teachings of Lloth by attending regularly held lectures in addition to studying on their own.

Yath'abbanen are drow who have at one point in their development begun to serve the Yath instead of pursuing the more mundane vocations. Temple Agents are sent on low-importance missions for Yathrinen or Yath'tallaren in order to test their skills and devotion to Lloth. Especially talented or devout Yath'abbanen can be chosen by a Yathrin to be a personal assistant. Yath'abbanen can expect to run errands, undertake missions, and sometimes fight for the Yath. They should complete these things with vigor and determination.

Yathrin (Priestess)

Yathrin Requirements: (L9+ Cleric of Lloth)
- Must be a female drow Yath'abban capable of casting Raise Dead as a spell.
- Assist a Yathrin in one or more sacrifices.
- Successfully complete at least one of the temple's classes or private tutoring sessions.
- Participate in at least one training session in the Melee-Magthere on basic combat and tactics.
- Demonstrate loyalty and respect to superiors in the Yath as well as devotion to Lloth and a fundamental knowledge of Her dogma.
- Pass a Yathrin test, administered by a Yath'tallar or the Ulath'tallar herself.

Yathrin Responsibilities:
- Show respect to members of all ranks that are above themselves and refer to their superiors by their title.
- Obey the orders of the Ulath'tallar and other Yath'tallaren.
- Participate in regular tours through the city to search for law-breakers, unruly or idle jaluken, and for any signs of heresy.
- Serve the Spider Queen first and foremost. Undertakings performed in Her name take precedence over routine orders.
- Participate in educating the lower ranked members of the Yath. Torture, prayer, and worshipping the Spider Queen are all skills that need to be passed on. It is the Yathrin's job to help ensure that all Yath'abbanen learn these basic skills.
- Regularly develop, prepare, and perform ceremonies honouring Lloth. They must ask for blessings, guidance, as well as spread the faith.

A Yathrin is a priestess of Lloth, committed to upholding the tenants of the faith. Priestesses, through their ceremonies and other activities, assist in teaching the newer members the rules and expectations. Yathrinen must constantly seek to interpret the whims of the Spider Queen and act to fulfill those expectations. Yathrinen are also responsible for maintaining order and adherence to the old ways, being constantly alert to the possibility of corruption by heretics, and advancing the will of Lloth. Yathrinen should make efforts to research and document the Way of Lloth and document several rituals for future reference.

Note: There may only be ten Yathrinen at one time. It is your responsibility to see to the creation of an opening should you wish advancement.

Yath'tallar (High Priestess)

Yath'tallar Requirements: (L17+ Cleric of Lloth)
- Must be a female drow Yathrin capable of casting Implosion as a spell.
- Perform at least three blood sacrifices, one of which must be supervised by the Ulath'tallar.
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Lloth and Her Will, as well as be able to identify signs of heretic goddesses and gods.
- Continue to demonstrate devotion to the Yath and prove to have received Lloth's favour in some way.
- Show the ability to lead, to find and root out weakness, and to put males in their place.
- Pass an instructional course given by the Ul'ath'tallar or her delegate on proper interrogation techniques.
- Must succeed in the Yath'tallar trials, given by the Ulath'tallar.

Yath'tallar Responsibilities:
- Assist the Ulath'tallar in running the temple.
- Serve the Spider Queen first and foremost and undertakings in her name take precedence over any other matters.
- Keep a close eye on the Yathen and the training of the Yathrinen.
- Regularly develop, prepare, and perform ceremonies dedicated to Lloth.
- Root out weakness and heresy within the city.
- Destroy those who oppose the Spider Queen and ensure that everyone serves Her Will, in one way or another.

Yath'tallaren are very, very powerful drow. The dictates of Lloth are delivered via proxy through the Yath'tallaren, and these dictates should be enforced to the best of their ability. Their main duty besides instructing the Yathrinen is to ensure that the Will of Lloth is properly discerned and maintained.

Note: There may only be four Yath'tallaren at one time. It is your responsibility to see to the creation of an opening should you wish advancement.

Kyorl’d’Orbb – Spider Guard

These males are a branch of the Arach-Tinilith (Lolth Temple). They are made up of only the most honored males, those who hold perfect adherence to Lolthite society. They perform as role models for others to follow. They have many duties all of them involving service to the Arach’tinilith and only the priestesses of Lolth. They guard the Temple and most importantly the priestesses.

Under the direction of the priestesses they patrol the streets of the city to insure that the populace is in perfect discipline.

The Arch High Priestess (Ul’ath’tallar) has ultimate authority over the Kyorl’d’Orbb. Here are the requirements:

1. Must be male
2. Must be a cleric of Selvetarm
3. Must have at least one priestess to vouch for you.
4. Must have fighting prowess and be capable of scouting most of the underdark on your own.
5. Must have a clean history with no ill behavior or crimes.
6. Must pass a test given by the current ranking Olath’sutrinos (Dark Commander)
7. Must pass a test given by the Ul’ath’tallar
8. Black Guards are accepted but only if their powers are from Selvetarm or Lolth. (you can contact any Yath'tallar if you want to perform a ritual to do this.)

Because the Spider Guard are male that may give orders to and take into custody anyone (including high ranking females, males and even the odd priestess) they are expected to be the epitome of a Lolthite drow male.

The Ul'ath'tallar was in the alter room a very long time this cycle. First a triumphant newly appointed Yath'abban Oun'dree Tinnerai exited the Temple, her first duty to find a certain jaluk. She returned quickly with none other than Zeketh'ryn in tow. Although he was allowed into the alter room with Elvinna'dris and Nizzre'tyne and Yath'abban Oun'dree was not.

Zeketh'ryn did eventually leave the Temple, covered in blood and slightly disoriented. Yet it was hours before Elvinna'dris and Nizzre'tyne emerged to converse with Vistren and a captured Lomir. The very same jaluk wanted for questioning in the child killing incident.

Priestesses would note that Lomir is laying in the jail cell in the Temple, quite devoid of life. They would also note a change in the Temple rankings along with this note.

Attention all Yath, as of this cycle we have a new Yath'abban Oun'dree Tinnerai whom has passed her tests and is ready to aid all Yathrin.

Also, congratulations to Elvinna'dris for she choose chaos and now holds the record for going from unranked in Edonil to Yath'tallar in a matter of hours.

I warn all those who contemplate this path. The tests are not as easy as this might make them seem. Each is tested to their limit and failure brings a high price.

In the coming days I will be teaching proper sacrifice as well as proper capture techniques. All Yath whom wish to continue their quest for power shall need to capture and present a sacrifice to our Glorious Queen.

Perhaps those involved did not think there would be consequences for breaking Lolths law. They are sadly mistaken. All Yath involved are now demoted and must retest for their rank.

Any Ilharessen should be aware that you may not officially keep the rank of Ilharess within Edonil if you are not ranked at least as Yathrin.

Inside the Temple upon the alter is an excellently fashioned gold and sapphire necklace. It is covered in blood and adorns the tiny neck of a dead drow female baby. The baby is clean and even with no life she is perfection and beautiful. She was positioned as if she was just sleeping, with a lipstick kiss upon her forehead in the shade that Nizzre’tyne wears.

Several large spiders slowly descend from the heights of the temple's main room on gossamer filaments. They come to land near the sacrificial alter with all their eyes locked on the offering left for them. A long, tense moment passes as the spiders simply stare at the tiny body.

In a flurry of motion, the spiders leap on the offering as one, tearing and rending as they devour the gift left for them. In what would seem the blink of an eye the spiders are rising back into the rafters of the Temple, climbing back up on the gossamer threads of web they used to descend originally. Leaving in their wake a gold necklace now stained with even more blood as the only evidence that there was ever even anything there.

and ontop of this, because of the RP of Vandree and Velve would be void by this as if it never happen, in fact this would cause almost all the rp thats been going on void...???? we playing this off as the last two weeks never happen?

hmmm....Sounds like the temple has been running on the cannon lore that Wizards of the Coast puts in print. However I do realize that cannon lore can be overridden by the server staff.

Otherwise, if a house fucks up, there should be consequences, yes, and they should come at the behest of the temple. Also, the temple still has claws/webs/teeth... You want a house gone? Call a matron meeting and have the opposing houses make their case with the Temple acting as judge and jury. We simply thought it too powerful to allow any Temple-focused PC to rule over another group's entire house without any feasible recourse or reprecution. Those in power now are great, don't get me wrong, it is simply a measure to assure that should thy leave or want to step down, their predecessors wouldn't gum up the works and crash the awesome train you guys have put Edonil on.

I also wish to further point out and remind you guys that while Edonil is player run, when issues arise, we DMs can't just sit on our hands. Amia is based on DnD after all, and we are simply doing what needs to be done for th betterment of the setting. I stand by Ainjyll on this as otherwise a lvl 2 that hits a higher rank in the temple can boss around a matron mother which is also a break from lore.

Changes to the temple laws governing Matron Rank are left in webbing over night. Chaos has been sewn and some of the yath are claiming Edonil presently holds Lolth's attention. Once word spreads to the commoners, everyone acts upon their best behavior outwardly as to hopefully impress the Dread Queen. Just a new cycle in the City of Webs.

Signs of the Ul'ath'tallar are around...a cup of lukewarm tea here, a freshly inked quill there.... The little human blond human girl named Mushroom would be seen sitting in a chair in Nizzre'tynes office clutching her toy stuffed rothe. She is quietly humming a well know drow battle dirge and swinging her little legs. If questioned she simply says, "Waiting for malla." as she jumps up to bow.

Yet no one has actually /seen/ Nizzre'tyne this cycle.

The alter room door slid open and Ul'ath'tallar entered followed by her Nycaloth who was carrying the limp body of a heretic slime's priestess. Nizzre'tyne had wasted no time in going and finding a nice drow priestess heretic to give Lolth as a gift.

Nizzre'tyne didn't question the latest missive of Lolth's. It didn't occur to her to do so. All she knew was that her Queen had thought it important enough to visit the little City of Webs. Then Nizzre'tyne would make sure that the Dread Queen had some proper entertainment and a nice gift. It could never be said that Nizzre'tyne was not a good hostess.

Nizzre'tyne had the Nycaloth drop the body on the floor and she dragged it to the center of the summoning circle. There she bowed deeply, the excitement of the offering starting to pulse in her veins. The unconscious slime priestess was placed roughly upon the alter and tied down by Nizzre'tyne. Then she began to pray aloud. She called to her Queen with a reverent voice. Nizzre'tyne understood that each breath she took was only due to the will of the Dread Queen.

Nizzre'tyne made a cut and placed a diamond into the slime priestess for herself and then three more for each of the other Yath'tallars of the Temple. She spoke of her devotion and the devotion of Lolths Yath'tallars in the City of the Webs. She pointed out specific strengths that each of them had and spoke of their continued service to Lolth and Her Temple.

Then she pulled the heart of the heretic and held it high as an offering and a promise of her service to Lolth.

The aftermath was a bloody alter, the body was given to the spiders. And a bloody Nizzre'tyne. Lolth tlu Malla!

If I recall correctly you are required to be a certain level before you can be a matron mother, like 17(level 9 spells achievable). Hmm, or am I confusing that with an old server I played on.

This should be in a topic for matrons council (i'll create one) as it has nothing to do with "official temple rankings", but yes your numbers are correct according to the info I have.

Oi. It is 17 levels by level 28 (ECL 30). You can be a matron at level 2 if you find the backing and adhere to the rules on making new factions with the caveat that at least 7 of your house's players -can not- have Alts with other house affiliations.
