Alright, I am well aware that this will likely be taken down in a hot second because of it's purely absurd content, but while it lasts...
I'm curious, while cruising around on Amia Island, I have seen many a strange relationship quarrel/tryst/reunion/etc. etc.
And I'm curious as to what the statistics boil down to. I wonder if I just happen to stumble upon the few amusing PC's, or if said amusing PC's are, in fact, the majority of those who frolic and play on Amia.
Attached is a poll, you may answer the poll for each PC you have.
Curiosity prevails~!

My curiosity lies in whether or not this thread can stay on track/civil without it devolving into political/moral internet rage.

My characters are either shy, old or crazy. It tends to be a bad basis for romance.

Totally the last option for me. I am allergic to RP romances. Though Gagis was about to marry Sharina right before she died, but Gägä and Sharina are way too awkward to be considered a RP romance.

The rest of the team can attest to my having witnessed that male/male relationships exist on Amia, and not in the flaboyantly gay way. I'm not homophobic or anything, but I will attest to a certain level of discomfort at reading in depth descriptions about two males kissing each others chest, when I'm searching for cyberers.
You guys have no idea the sacrafices we make.

I've had a single character touch base with all of the above, save the female/female thing. It's a fey though, so it doesn't count.

I have some of all of them. Most of my girls are married or committed to a man.
Katina is a lesbian, most of the time.
Irae is technically bi, but honestly cannot be arsed to bother, because love is just asking to get betrayed.

Crow has only been with five women (three of which were a one time thing), but he has been hit on by males, which more or less repulses him. The girl on girl thing is so common, that he's used to it.

You guys have no idea the sacrafices we make. Selvec I can only imagine, I remember years ago when Reis was a ranger/sd/druid I used to see a whole lot of stuff...and then as a Cordor councillor late one night, a random guy logged in as a half orc druid and started getting it on with his dire wolf companion in town. Since there was no dms on at the time I had to keep jailing him, and he kept logging making a new orc and doing it again. I swear, he had to have been jailed at least 30 times that night. Also Reis has been asked to give the bride/groom away in a male/male wedding...Reis is pretty conservative when it comes to homosexuallity, he finds it wrong and unnatural LOL. However in RL I could really careless about who is sleeping with who, besides what goes on with myself.

Romance with a wolf ain't a male/male relationship. It's bestiality.
Pedophilia, Necrophilia and Bestiality are "deviances" and are uncalled for ... well, anywhere. Illegal also.

They could be part of the last option I have M/F, F/F, and 'way too cool' for my three picks. Tyrus, Salema, and then most of my other chars (either because they are anti social, too busy wizarding it up, or sociopaths)

i always try to stay as far away from this subject in game. i do know the importance that relationships have on characters, however, so even though i never rp a "romantic relationship" i have implied them through mentioning people who only exist in backstory, per se. as for my gobo, well, they're a different ball game so lets call it "more than 3" but that doesn't count if you know about warrens. my only other "main" has a dead wife and a vow of celibacy in her honor, so nothing there. i did however play once a male sunite who was romantically involved with another male tyrran for some time, until my character died. i have to say, even as a gay male, it made me uncomfortable sometimes. i have played a few other gay characters over the years but never for very long as i already have a lot going on with my main. and as for bestiality, necrophilia, and to a lesser extent pedophilia, you have to take into account the setting. i see FR as a perfect environment to breed such diviances as the first two, and in medieval times children "came of age" much much younger than today. now, i know this server isn't 100% "medieval" set, but there are a lot of similarities, though afaik this is not one of them. if you look at demonic rituals, and other things often associated with villains in dnd, bestiality could come up quite often in fact, though i wouldn't trust more than a handful of rpers i know to pull it off right. same for necrophilia.

All my old polls about sex, orientation & cybering seem to have been deleted in the great hack attack. In one from 2006, I asked players about their sex, the sex of their characters, and the orientation of their characters (straight, bi, gay). The results were as follows: Male player, straight male PC: 35 Male player, bi male PC: 6 Male player, gay male PC: 1
Male player, straight female PC: 0 Male player, bi female PC: 0 Male player, lesbian female PC: 3
Female player, straight male PC: 0 Female player, bi male PC: 2 Female player, gay male PC: 0
Female player, straight female PC: 15 Female player, bi female PC: 0 Female player, lesbian female PC: 2

Lol, I would actually fill in that zero with my current setup, haha. (Sharessan Tiefling ftw) And yeah. I'm the same as many people who have commented, I'm not homophobic in the slightest, but there are those questionable moments that I can't help but laugh at. Thus far I'm a little.. surprised at the results for reasons stated in the responses above, heh.

Yea, i can tell you right now those stats are very wrong. In my short time as DM I have seen more Bi/lesbian female characters then what is listed in the poll counts, and I know for a fact most of them are played by male players.

Straight male characters (that are actually played as such) are few and far between, least from what I can see. I only know they exist at all because I hung around in Bendir Dale, an' those were all taken so far as I know. I would have no problem playing a straight female character, it just never seems like there are any eligible bachelors.

A shortage of straight male characters? I am having trouble believing that much. I know all my male characters are straight, with the exception of Madara...yeah not sure of his orientation yet, but I tactically tend to play gay with him while dealing with male prisoners and female prisoners. Also I think its funny. As for eligible bachelors, nearly all my characters are eligible that are males, being that I currently only play one female character (but here we are just discussing my male characters LOL, but no my female is not a lesbian). Yet I really don't care for rping romances, been there done that years ago, if it happens then it happens, but as I said not caring much for it.

I feel like this is accurate from what I've seen as a player, as well. Or maybe it's inaccurate and the dudes playing bi/lesbian females are just way louder about it than the guys playing straight males. Which makes it look accurate anyway.

I play straight male characters. There's just an inborn stigma since the dawn of internet time about online relationships being stupid (and even in this day and age I still believe it).
I was nice to someone once (not here). They went off on a tangent I could probably study for a thousand years.

It's certainly long been the case on Amia that non-straight female characters are usually (but not always) played by guys. I was a bit surprised reviewing those results myself. Later polls (none of which I can find) were more in line with this bit of 'common knowledge'.
