(This topic is free for all to respond to, but things that are changed need to be done IC to avoid confusion)
The forest is quieter recently, fewer large game animals run about. Deer and boar seem fewer in number far from the roads.
Small camps, bare remnants left over form the nights. Each well kept and easily moved, far from the roads and the hussle and bussle of the forest crossroads. Large but well kept fire pits litter each camp, dug out as to not burn the surrounding area. Animal bones, chewed clean litter the area, fresh. Sharp hyena like teeth marks are visible, a large creature surely.

He moves with a toe-heel walk, making no sound and seems to move from shadow to shadow with no effort. He will examine places, moving little and always placing items back in the exact position they were in when he sees them. He will search (his skill is currently 57) to see if he can find and follow tracks (not ranger) also checking around nearby streams and ponds of water. For now, it is more his curiosity that is piqued then anything else as this is quite out of the ordinary and he is wondering if the Malarites are moving out of the Forest of Despair. (done in game almost daily as he moves through the Amia Forest areas in stealth observiing people)

Crow learns of a new creature inhabiting the forest, he goes to the Cordor library to learn what he can. Anyone close enough to see his reading material, might notice him reading up on gnolls. Crow also Searches, and Tracks throughout the forest, using his new found knowledge, to see if what he was told, is in fact true.
// Crow learned of this IC, without provocation by me //

*Crow, as well as the others with any knowledge of gnolls would find exactly what they are looking for in the forest. Chewed animal bones, remains of camp sites and little else marks the monsters passage. Oddly, there are no tracks at all, save for the tracks of an abnormally large hyena that seems to be with it.
Oddly, the camp sites are kept small and cleaned up rather well after each night, the occupants rarely around others...*

An elven druidess patrols the forest, keeping a close eye on the animal populations to make sure they do not dwindle too much, while looking for signs of the gnoll.

Finding the camp sites but no tracks, Krugan will figure that this is an "intelligent beastman or were creature". He will put snares down around likely places where the creature will pass...such as obvious paths, water spots...etc.
These are not lethal traps...snares...designed to catch something not harm it.
He will check them once per two in game days....he can make up to strong snares.

Krugan may find, from tracks and perhaps some logic skills, that one of his snares has recently been used to chase an animal, likely a deer by the tracks, into it, catching the animal. Blood and bits of fur would indicate the animal was killed and dragged off near the pond...

Any traps and snares Crow finds, while he is searching for the gnoll, he will spring. He takes and leaves them in a pile inside the entrance to Oakmist Vale. There is a note attached: Quote: Take your traps, and do not set them in the forest area again, without express permission from the Arch-druids.

Perhaps I should leave word with them as to why they are not dealing with the hordes of evil creatures infesting the many areas such as Malarites, orcs, kobolds and beastmen....perhaps not...for now, the snares have given me the information I desired.
This creature is highly intelligent, knowing how to spot snares, use them to its own ends and appears to be focusing on the pond to at least hide its kills. Speaking of which...'Krugan will carefully check the pond area, even going below the surface and checking the bottom using his magical abilities to stay below the surface without the need to breath for several hours at a time if the pond is deep enough to allow for him to be submerged and out of sight of the surface.

Around the pond, he would find that the creature seems to stay near the water for drinking and cooking...if he stays long enough, he may even see her....(To be seen IC perhaps)

He can do this as he has magic that allows him to not drown (underwater breathing) so, if he would see him/her then yes. If so, he will NOT try to approach...he is observing only right now and will remain hidden in the shadows and does have HIPS. Sadly, I can't actually be underwater at that location in game...heh.)

He would see her, obviously a female gnoll, covered in tattoos and tribal gear, much like a witchdoctor. She drags a line of rabbits behind her, and is followed closely by a huge hyena. She spends the night simply cooking and eating the rabbits, and working on some kind of herbs and potions, the hyena scouting about the area. She keeps the fire small and almost seems to ritually keep it burning with spells and chants. After a time, she puts out the fire and disappears into the brush...

// he said he was in Oakmist where the pile of traps was. *shrugs* It wasn't an accusation. // Crow, upon a discovery, heads into Oakmist and leaves his report. Quote: I followed a smoke trail to the She'kat cave. There, I found the gnoll that has been plaguing the forests. It was dead, and had wounds that the She'kats often make, there were several dead She'kats around it. I left it there for the rest of the spiders to feast on. Gnolls smell really bad.

Just for my future knowledge. Krugan has a high stealth...its in the 65-70 range at 21. He wouldn't know it ICly but, I don't want to be metagaming unknowingly or knowingly...hehe

After this, he would move into the nearest 'good or neutral city' or send a note into Oakmist Vale if that is the closet of such places. A note (or the note) would be left without much notice to him but would be in colored ink, not normal black, so that once the note was opened, it would draw attention to it.) Quote: To the governing body,
I have spend some time observing a very intelligent female beastman. There is a large dog-like creature that follows her and she performs rituals around her fire pit most of the nights. She is hunting in the /Amia Forest/ and moves nightly, having no set camp.
Her intelligence is noted that she can not only find snares but use them against prey by moving it into them to trigger them. Also, her tracks are exceptionally hard to follow.
Given these things and my first hand observation of her without her knowledge, as best as I can figure I was undetected at least, I believe her to be a shaman or similar tribal witch doctor. How you wish to proceed is up to you but, I felt it would be at least a service I could perform for you to find out more of this potential threat or, possibly, ally.
Should you require more of such services, please simply leave a note for Krugan at the Nomad in Cordor proper. If not, I hope I have been of some assistance in this matter.
Good day and Good morrow.
Krugan

If he/his race/class isn't banned, it doesn't matter if you enter visible or invisible //Krugan appears to be a human male. He is not a drow, goblin or kobold. So far as I know he is not banned anyplace and he tries very much to avoid being anything but one more face in the crowd to the vast majority of folks. To his "patrons"...or clients...that is naturally very much different but even to them, he takes extraordinary steps to conceal his identity. Changing his appearance, clothing, the whole works. I even visit the tattoo artists and barbers when I go to meet one just so that his real identity is concealed. I think where we are getting off track is that when Krugan put out his snares, Crow thought I was in the Vale and I was thinking I was in the Amia Forest where the Gnoll was. Crow removed the traps and put them at the entrance to the Vale with a note. Krugan did examine the note, leaving the traps alone. I figured this was just outside the Vale so Krugan would be "just out of eyesight" of the Vale guards but, he left everything as he found it simply because he didn't want anyone to know he was around. That I believe is the disconnect...Crow is thinking we are moving about the Vale. I am thinking we are never in the Vale proper but n the forest around it. My Sovereign has not clarified exactly where this is going on save 'Amia Forest' which is a very wide area in game...several areas in fact..I think 4 or 5.

For many days, there is no sign of the female gnoll. Is what crow says true? Has she really fallen to the shekats?
No she hasnt.
It appears that some adventurer has happened by and raised her...the fate of said adventurer is unknown.
Now she is back to her normal duties, which seem to be eating and fire based rituals. She really loves eating, and puts down twenty pounds of meat a day easily.
Her rituals involve simple fires and incense, using mixed herbs to create sweet smelling smokes that drift out over the forest.

Screeching...
Sounds of a large spider burning alive fill the spider forest. A pyre of spider webbing and wood is contructed around the still living body of the queens consort, dragged out of the cave and set before it. Its screeches of agony can be heard throughout the area before the flames consume it.

*The sound of a spider screeching in pain is all but too familiar to Ilias. As he strolls happily through the woods searching for some herbs he snickers too himself, convinced that yet another Llolth-loving bastad spider got what he deserved. But questions were raised:
"Who would cause so much pain to a single spider and for what reason? Was it a sacrifice, act of vengeance or just a mindless barbarian wreaking havoc? "
Curious beyond limits he follows the sound of screeching, steadily, trying to peek at the scene unnoticed.*

*The mysterious Gnoll Shamaness has moved her camp once more, from the woods of despair, to the areas near Minmir bridge. Old firepits, bits of bone and blood seem to mark her many small camps, though she seems to be very hard to spot or hunt down. She seems to be keeping a watchful distance from the Beastman caves, though always at a distance she can watch them, as if scouting them out.*
//Would like to request a DM for the actual first meeting with the beastman

More rain, more muck, more mud and stink. Uruu thought she had enough of all that in the forest of despair, but here she is now, wandered into this lizard infested swamp. She sets up her camp near the largest, driest tree in the whole area and wanders out from there. Piles of lizardfolk and spiders can be found burning in some of the less drenched parts of the swamp, the pyres stoked with divine flames.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAMeXjeswWg(I treat you to what I listened to for ambiance to this post) Haze.....hazy thoughts...Uruu'llaa sits up slowly, looking around, crimson eyes scanning the swamp for threats. Her eyes settle on the massive hyena, affectionately named 'Yena' still asleep by her side. She pats its head, waking it and turns back to the embers of the fireplace. Orange light lightly cast over her fur, she leans down close to the warmth, taking a small wooden bowl and elegantly pouring a bit of water from a skin into it. She waits silently in the dark for it to heat, bits of steam drifting up.
Sharp tipped ears flick slightly, listening to the buzzing of insects, the rustling of the branches above, the flowing of water.
Her snout scrunches up slightly with every sniff of the steamy air.
Keen eyes look back down to the bowl. Her paws snatch at herbs and weeds and spices that she keeps ever present in her spiderwebbed bag. Chanting soft gnollish words, crooning growls and rolling snarls. Smoke drifts up as she pours potions, mixing, crushing and adding of the ingredients. A puff of purple smoke, a bit of sparks and a lick of flame sends the now murky mix boiling. She waves it cooler for a moment and retrieves what is left solid from the concoction. Tossing them aside, she takes the bowl in both paws, lifting it slowly to sniff at the smoke. Tears fill her eyes from the strength of it, and she nods, a good sign it worked.Slowly, ever so slowly she sips at it, tipping the bowl up until she has drank all the hot, liquid. Sitting back against the tree....her mind falters, images growling distorted. Deep hallucination fill her mind. Her old tribe, her old life, so vivid, she can feel it, every feeling and emotion all over again, flowing like water over her thoughts. Reaching out drunkidly towards the images of those she cared for or took for granted, just out of reach....The demons.....the humans....
Riding on horses of death, their faces skulls....they ride into the camp. The filth, the disease...the Mind Fever.
Its their fault, they killed her tribe....all she knows...all dead....the HUMANS.The Humans....
The HUMANS...Kill the humans...
Kill the humans END the disease!
KILL THE HUMANS!!!
She grabs up her things in a hurry and roughly drags 'yena to his feet, howling in fury, her axe in hand, she dashes out into the swamp in a vengeful rage....

It seem the witchdoctor is yet again returned to the forest, her camps are again able to be found on occasion within the forest and the areas around it.
