The work on the hak update is nearly complete, and at this point, we're merely tracking down and squashing bugs before the final release.

So! This is where those willing of you come in. For a week, beginning today and ending next week Sunday, we are opening Amia C, our test server, to the public for the purposes of testing and experimentation on the new content.

If this doesn't interest you, then go along your way now. If, however, it does...

I want to try out the new hak! What do I do now?

First, download this:

Amia Test Update Hak

Once downloaded, place the files in the appropriate places as you have installed Amia's hak.

You'll then want to direct connect to Amia C. The server details are as follows:

IP: 84.243.255.52:5123
Password: opentesting

Amia C is a testing environment and has most of Amia A, though lacks any of B's content. As a testing server, there's no roleplay required, nor are your character vaults imported from A and B. Instead, it uses a separate character vault that will be deleted at the end of the trial period. Also as a testing server, the rest menu has the option of giving both XP and gold in unlimited quantities.

Helpful hint: don't use the give XP feature before entering through the mirror, or you'll be unable to enter as that PC, permanently.

What are you looking for? How can I help?

We are looking for bugs related to the hak, not opinions on balance or suggestions on how things can be made better. We have passed this stage. At this point, we want to make sure the hak will work when it goes live, and that is indeed the point of this topic!

Post your findings here, on the handily stickied topic in Improving Amia. Do note that it must be related to the hak, and a bug report. If it's unrelated or just idle discussions on balance, I will likely remove your post so it isn't helping us in any fashion. The most complex content we've added involve the new classes, so if you're going to try out anything, try out those. Make some PCs, toy around with abilities and builds with friends, and see if everything works as it should. If classes aren't to your fancy, domains are also here and ready for the testing!

Anything else I should know?

Don't expect this version of the hak to be the same as the final. It is definite that you will have to redownload them come the day of release, so if you're a bit limited on bandwidth every month, I don't suggest doing this due to the high amount of changes we'll be making to the hak throughout the week, requiring several redownloads as we go.

Downloading this test hak will not affect your Amia haks in any way. They are entirely separate, so don't worry about that.

With all that said, I hope those of you who do decide to take part enjoy the sneak peek at the wealth of new content this hak update is giving us all. I'll likely pop in now and then on Amia C to answer any questions and see if anyone needs something!

Can this be put in the same HAK Folder as the one AMIA uses without overriding or messing something up or do we need to make a backup folder?

Put it in the same place. It won't cause any issues.

Do you anticipate any conflicts with the current content? (IE: If I was to indeed grab and place all these files for some trial, would it bugger up my ability to play normally?)

OMG, I love that outfit. I have no confidence in my ability to be an effective bugtester, but I would totally wear that outfit IRL. (If it didn't have so many rivets on the skirt.) Also, that half-cape is super awesome.

I'm off the next two nights. I'll have to have a go at this. Is all the current hak stuff included in the new hak? Not that I can think of any mechanical changes that would normally be expected but missing...just felt like I should ask.

Yep, the downloads I linked are essentially the 'beta' versions of Amia's v3 hak.

Keeps telling me the source files are corrupted after I wait the full half hour to download. Oh well, guess I am waiting!

Got an error where the game hangs at the load screen into the test server. I've tried redownloading and reinstalling the test HAK, but to no avail. Anyone else having this problem?

Sounds more of a general NWN network issue to me. I've had that sometimes where it will simply refuse to finish loading and randomly fixes itself later on.

Yeah, running it with admin credentials seems to have cleared it up.

..I love you all so much. The armor pieces I wanted are here, everything works fine on my side, but just a uestion, what are the "X"'s for?

Please tell me there is a Wizards Hat model, in the actual head slot, instead of cloak now.. please?

there isnt, you cant reveal face in helm slot, just cant be done, but robe now has wizard hats

some of the new cloak and robes are not working for half-orc, fat phenotype.

The shortsword shows "bag" when equipped.

Yea, a few items when examined show a red "X" as the portrait, and the item is bags. It tells you it's a staff, but it just shows you holding a bag

When I try to connect, I keep getting a message saying that I need the hak files but I clearly have the hak files in my override folder. And no, they aren't in a separate folder within the folder (made that mistake with the first hak).

They should be in your /hak folder, not your /override folder.

I hate being a noob. Thanks.
