It depends on the specific evil god. Bane, for example, pretty much demands that his followers go around declaring that they're Banites, and it's a great offense to him if one of his followers lies about their faith (at least in the local Amia Banite culture). On the other hand, a follower of someone like Shar or Mask or Cyric might actually be encouraged by their deity to be all sneaky, and to try to infiltrate enemy churches by using guile and lies. Did you have a specific deity you were wondering about?

The Deity I'm thinking about is Loviatar. Infiltrate to shatter and cause pain in both soul and bodey... And if I'm not totaly mistaken Loviatar works undercover most of the time.

That's fine. I can see Loviatar loving that. She enjoys manipulation.

Banites do whatever they can to gain postions of power. They got sneaky politicians who work in the local goverment for years, or you have the commanding general of a army, seizing control over a country by force.

Bane himself is so sneaky, that he never even get's his own hands dirty, just watching from the shadows.

It's just the Banites on this server that tended not to be intelligent and go incognito, but it even says in Faiths and Pantheons, that Bane permits trickery, so long as it brings victory to the Church.

The evil leader guy in Actand, Everlast(?) is dead or alive? Because I was under the impression that he was killed by the avatar of Orcus in Caraigh. Can someone give me some clarification please?

Because while the DMs do run events that can change things in the module, it takes time for the changes to occur as they would need to be integrated into updates.

I'm pretty sure that Caraigh has been updated since the events have happened. A long time ago.

Question on True Resurrection:

If a body is still intact but elsewhere does it resurrect the body where you cast the spell? I know when the body is gone it does (since that makes complete sense), but if it's at Point A does the spell bring it to you at Point B? Or does must the body be touched if it still exists?

IIRC the body is restored to full where you cast it and anything else that is left crumbles to dust.

Half-dwarves exist for certain, yeah. I see no reason why other civilized demihumans couldn't crossbreed. We know elves and humans can, and elves and halflings can. Gnomes and halflings or humans and halflings isn't a stretch, it's more like common sense IMO. I don't want to go into the monster part, that's probably up to the DM in each case.

I realize it was back in May when this was posted towards the end of a discussion on "Do half-dawrf - half-humans exist?". Well I'm not at all trying to rehash that discussion at all, but rather ask a new question/opinions based on existing characters and my own failed attempt at trying to research any sort of possible RP reason for the relation or complete non-relation of some characters we have in Amia that for some reason decided to all pick the same last name.

The last name I'm speaking of is "Silverkin". I know of at least 3 characters if not more that have this same last name. Not sure where others got it, and don't really care for that matter, but I got mine from a name generator and combined it together to form a name that sounded good for a dwarf before I ever knew there were already characters around with the same last name. The characters as far as I understand are these 3 basic stereotypes which by all possible stretches of imagination are not related by genetics unless stated otherwise somewhere: 1 Silverkin is a silver dragon kin, makes sense, has dragon blood; 2 Silverkin is a human evil aligned character with a quite bad reputation IC, 3 my Silverkin is a LG dwarf philosopher monk/other, gets asked all the time if he has a relation to the darkside...(evil Silverkin).

So apart from lore I'm not asking about Muls (Darksun) or anything that would be directed towards the interbreeding of a human, dwarf, or dragon or anything else, but rather looking for some ideas on how one would stretch the imagination to show some sort of relation between any or all of the "Silverkin" characters in Amia (lore-wise or through some other backstory related means).

Here is the question for your perusal and opinions: How could the "Silverkins" be related genetically or otherwise?

edit: I wasn't quite sure where to post this, but did it here since it didn't seem to fit in PC Character descriptions because that is IC.

Sliverkin is a very very simple and therefore common last name. Last names are sometimes changed for people, given to them as a sort of honor. Because of that, it's very believable that there are people with that surname of different racial backgrounds who have zero relation. That's not to say that they can't be related, mind. However, you would have to come to an agreement with the player of the other PC that that is so to claim that it's true OOCly. You can claim it ICly, while it not being true OOCly, all you like though.

I've got a dual inquiry, both regarding Animal Companions. The lore thread's probably best for this one, while general discussion for the other.

Q: How does one actually go about acquiring an animal companion? I'd imagine there are very different methods, sure- but speaking from the basics, one just doesn't suddenly ~have~ one, right? Perhaps taming, or feral dominance, or raising it from birth? Animal Companions would be collected from the wilds? One would think its a fairly obvious question, but what I suppose I'm inquiring is if there's any rituals involved, rites, etc- or the actual, descriptive methods of acquiring one.

So, are we telling him, or letting him figure it out?

Lore on demons/devils helps...

...however your character might not know any devil/demon lore making it a moot point entirely...

The point is, if he is alive, it's not surprising, nor an inconsistency. (There may be time constraints however...)

You collect one from the wilds.

You decide what animal you want, go to a place where they live, and track one down. (If your character is particularly non worldy, they might only know of animals in their immediate environs, so wouldn't even know a Panther exists, let alone fancy a trip to Chult). Then they cast a spell on it, and that causes the Animal to see the Druid as a friend. One of the pack. I don't know if there's some fancy ritual detailed anywhere, they tend to avoid that sort of depth in the sourcebooks. You can probably think of your own.

The basic information makes no mention of a ritual or anything. That's not to say a druid or ranger couldn't undertake one, but it would likely be a rite, not actually a mechanic of the bond. In general, an Animal Companion bond is a lot more straight forward than something like a Familiar.

It's pretty much just an animal that you're so connected with in the traditional sense that you can work together in ways closer than a normally trained animal. You do get a few supernatural features like sharing spells and the animal becoming stronger, but other than that, it's really just "man's best friend" at the end of the day. Something akin to Lassie.

There aren't any rituals, no. When a Druid or Ranger is looking for a companion, they simply go out and find one in it's natural environment. It could be the wilds, it could even be a city or town, if you're looking for some sort of city rat or a domestic dog. Making an animal your Animal Companion has zero to do with taming or domestication, though it -can- involve that if the Druid/Ranger chooses it.

So say a Druid and Ranger from Amia wants a mountain lion. Depending on how well learned that Druid or Ranger is with Amia's landscapes and mountain lions in general, they would go where ever they felt there might be mountain lions. It would take them an undisclosed amount of time to find that mountain lion, but when they finally did, they decide if that mountain lion is suitable enough for what they need in a companion. If it is, they either try to befriend it with their natural skill or use their divine Gifts to do the work, via a Animal Friendship spell, which causes the animal to think of you as a friend, ally, flock member, pack member, etc. You go from there. However, if you're on Amia, but want a camel or a polar bear and go about searching Amia island alone? You're search will very very likely bear no fruit at all. In other words, animals are found in their natural environments, your being a Druid or Ranger doesn't magically displace an animal for you to find.

Druids and Rangers just sort of choose which animal will be their companion. There is no ritual or anything, though if your Druid or Ranger has some sort of traditional ritual that they do when they gain a companion, by all means, go for it.

Aaaactually, I sort of specifically member there being a ritual of some sort. Like, it's one of the few things I can recall off the top of my head about PNP animal companions. Somewhere in the PHB under "Druids - Animal Companion."

PHB v3.5 wrote:
If a druid releases her companion from service, she may gain a new one by performing a ceremony requiring 24 uninterrupted hours of prayer. This ceremony can also replace an animal companion that has perished.

Yep. There you go. Vague as D&D sourcebooks are wont to be. Take it how you will.

not so much a lore question but kind of is... the tracker armor in game it says its used by forest wardens but doesn't say what it is made of it has a 4/4 armor *chainmail* bonus so I am guessing it isn't safe for a druid to use?

You can make wooden armor of 4/4 like chainmail, so I'd imagine it would be fine. Just don't use metal in the appearances/coloration.

I searched but couldn't find info on this. My understanding is that Arcane Archery is only available to Elves and Half-Elves in the Forgotten Realms, which does not include Drow. Is this different in Amia? Have there been rulings on it in the past, or is there previous information which I could read up on?

Short answer: drow are free to take AA on Amia
Long answer: a long list of personal opinions why it sucks if you hit the search button

It's different on Amia. There's IC disagreement over whether the drow stole AA secrets from Solonor, or Solonor approves of them being AA's, or whether their AA skills somehow come from Eilistraee (or Vhaeraun) instead of Solonor. But drow AA's are mechanically legal, OOC.

Pointless details: Selvetarm for evil drowsies and Solonor for goodies, or so I hear. Don't ask me how it works, though...

Incidentally I remember reading a mention somewhere in the books (Races of Faerun?) about half-drows being A-Okay to take AA levels. But it was a passing mention, and maybe just talking about mechanics without really considering the lore. Whatever the lore may be, because it's way over my head.

It's not different on Amia, there is simply nothing in PnP that restricts a drow from taking Arcane Archer.

Yups.

It is Selvetarm on Amia, btw, who 'granted' the Arcane Archery stuff to Drow, though they rarely find it useful and prefer to focus on his other martial pursuits. That is why you see so few Drow Arcane Archers.

I would love any more homebrew or canon lore on Nephthys and how Her people would act. I am trying to stick to lore, but sadly there's just very little I've found online.

Also, my girl is not a cleric, she's the middle class, below Freemen and above Slaves, who the wiki says are eligible for marriage to nobles, though only to daughters. Would she have a shaved head etc. too?

Does that imply that a drow who finds himself on the side of "good"liness are granted arcane archer abilities via Eilistraee's power then on Amia?

Which one of those are the most canon to 3E and 3.5E? I got stuck on a spell called Foresee but it looks like a hoax or homebrew. At the same time it appears Here thought.

Everything in the SRD is official WotC canon, lifted directly from a published, printed sourcebook. The SRD is designed to contain all the official content that's designated as "open" for the purposes of the WotC Open Gaming License.

The wiki probably contains all the stuff from the SRD, plus a million edits and additions from every DM on the planet who invented something for his/her own D&D game and thought it was awesome enough to share with the world.

Wondering which dieties would grant a BG their power? My main query is for Shar, and Loviator.

Any evil deity, most likely. A few neutral deities that are associated with the Barrens of Despair, perhaps, like Hoar.

Shar and Loviator would have no issue granting powers to a Blackguard.

Ahh, alright, I was just a bit iffy on what there creedo was on that is all. Another question would be is, Shar, would she cater to a certain type of Devil, same goes for Loviator and Hoar. Do they do that, or is it just any devil? I'd think Hoar would only cater to some..

Make sure you're using the right terms here. Loviatar would use Devils(also known as fiends). Shar would use demons. They're on opposite sides of the Law-Chaos spectrum so it's important to make note of that. If a BG were breaking a deal with a deity through a evil mediator, it would most likely go through an outsider of the same alignment. Or a Yugoloth which would be NE and they've been known to serve either side at one point or another. Devils usually despise CE things(like demons) and Demons of course hate LE things(like Devils), thus, the Blood War. So you wouldn't find the two working for any deity of the opposite alignment, unless there's some special case I'm not aware of.

If it helps, from what I see on nj-pbem, Loviatar would likely use Imps, Hellhounds, baatezu and whatnot. Shar would use Shadows and shadow-plane demons, usually.

Mind that "Foresee" itself isn't really a spell. It's a Spell Seed, which are "Building blocks" so to speak, used in creation for epic spells. What a spell seed "is" is often up vfor debate. I've personallty treated it (and my characters have followed it) as them being small, perhaps fist sized orbs of magic, crafted and created by the spellcaser through ritual, and part of this XP and GP cost is what is entailed in the "research cost" of an epic spell.

Now that is an interesting thing for i have myself been curious about what defines these 'Seeds'. I theorized with another amian that they were a type of insight given to you after great deals of study and learning, Like learning to ride a bike or propelling an airplane. A skill you can't touch or see but still use.

That's possible as well. It's never been defined on Amia. I've never seen another account of Spell Seeds being used outside my character so I've never seen another opinion to go off of. My way seemed decent because it provided a physical use for the seeds and detailed jsut why epic spell creation is so harrowing and expensive.

YMMV.
