Bioware scripted several spells in the wrong spell school, for example: Continual Flame, actually an Evocation spell, scripted as an Illusion spell in NWN.

Does Amia have any scripts or modifications which have corrected these misappropriations, or do the spells remain as listed in NWNWiki information?

Bioware made some weird choices for their spell-schools. Such as Mass Haste being enchantment, while at the same time Haste is transmutation, and Mass Blindness/Deafness is Illusion while Blindness/deafness is Enchantment, etc. Nothing has been done to change spells' schools, as far as I know.

Mechanically, yeah, doesn't matter, but I'm completely baffled at Bioware's logic. It's like they put all the schools on a dartboard and had a monkey throw thumbtacks at it.

Power Word Kill
*thunk* "Whoops, missed enchantment. Oh well, leave it divination."

Blindness/Deafness
*thunk* "Enchantment again, Bob!"
"Uh, it's supposed to be Necromancy, Jim."
"The darts don't lie, Bob!"

Mass Blindness/Deafness
*thunk* "Illusion, perfect!"
"Jim, not only is Blindness/Deafness supposed to be necromancy, your last dart landed on enchantment."
"Bob, would you please stop with the nitpicking?"

Balagarn's Iron Horn
*thunk* "Transmutation!"
"Hey, you got one right, Jim!"
*whispers to the programmer* "I know it says transmutation, but here's a $20. Change it to enchantment, but let Bob think it's still transmutation!"

Burning Hands
"Okay, I know for a fact this one's evocation, Jim. It's a bloody fire spell."
*thunk* "Wrong again, Bob! It's now transmutation!"
"But... but it doesn't transmute anything!"
"Bob, you're doing it again."
"WHAT?!"
"Nitpicking."

I found it... XD

They were trying to balance, since a lot of schools would be empty with them failing to copy over every PnP spell (which is a good thing ... PnP mages are scaaaaaary).

And NWN mages aren't? >;)

I'd like to believe Bioware was trying to balance the spell schools. I'd really like to believe that.

But... they're Bioware. >_> <_<

PnP mages can't cast offensive spells during TimeStop nor does IGMS exist in PnP, and Bigby's doesn't function as it does in NWN either. In a straight combat situation in PnP it would simply come down to who wins initiative.

Modrenkainen's Disjunction. If we assume the NWN mage's spells work like NWN and the PnP mage's work like PnP, then the NWN mage has the edge because he can Mordenkainen's, whereas the PNP mage ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT Mage's Disjunction because it is a very, very, very bad spell.

Again, it comes down to initiative. And what sourcebooks the PnP mage has. Celerity beats everything.

Mord's makes a very sad game. A lot of very upset players that are either knocked back to the stone age or lose all their phat lewt.
