I have been studying the different summons in preparation of possibly creating a necromancer for RP, and while doing so I stumbled across something that (to me at least) isnt quite clear:
Quote: Palemaster: Summon Greater Undead Spell-like Ability [Duration: 1 Hour / CL] • 1st – 8thCL: Mohrg • 9th – 14th CL: Wraith • 15th – 19th CL: Dread Wraith • 20th – 23rd CL: Wight • 24th – 27th CL: Mummy • 28th – 31st CL: Greater Mummy • 32nd – 33rd CL: Winterwight (A very powerful summon with evil blight claws)The Palemaster gains a bonus +3 to CL when using her spell-like ability. The summoned undead gains +6 to Turn Resistance. Source: http://www.amiaworld.net/about/summons.htmlNow at first the 32 - 33rd CL threw me off, but then I noticed the +3 bonus to CL when using the ability, so I can then initially deduct I need at least 29 levels of Pale master. now as that isnt possible with the 3rd level arcane cast requirement for Pale master, I found this as well: Quote: Undead spells CL is calculated as the sum of your spellcaster class level and Palemaster class levels if applicable. It's used to determine both the power of your undead summon and it's duration. Note that Bard levels are not counted for Palemaster summons.
Source: http://www.amiaworld.net/about/summons.html
So basically, based on the above both the caster level (sorc or wizard only) as well as PM levels count towards the 29 needed levels.
Now for my question:
Is there any minimum amount of these 29 levels that has to be PM levels or are they counted equally?
For instance, do I need 1 fighter / 9 wiz / 20 pm ?
or can i theoretically have 28 wiz / 1 pm / 1 fighter?
And a follwoup? has anyone ever had this summon? is it any good in PvM? Seeing as I will likely give up any ability to fight with my character itself, I will rely heavily on summons (I am a necromancer after all).
Thank you in advance

Can't say about the requirements but I think you need to have a lot of Pm levels to get the winterwight.

As far as I heard, enver saw it mind you, can the winterwight easily defeat the prismatic dragon (Which is the top notch Dragon summon)
So it should be good I wager.

Thank you for your thoughts Hellscourge
Still hoping for some confirmation on what the exact level req are and possibly some more insight to the summon itself if possible.

CL for the PM stuff isa Wiz/Sorc + PM, and it can only come from the Create Greeater Undead ability (not the spell, has to be the PM spellike.). You're right when you say you need at least 29 caster levels to get it, and you also need at leasst 8, 9 PM, whatever it is to access the spell-like. Most go 10 or above. A 19 wizard/1 fighter/10 PM could access the summon.
As for the summon, it is quite good. It's one of the strongest of the high end summons. It doesn't have huge HP, but it does have good AC and great damage, as well as amazing DR. Buffed up you'll never have problems with it. It only gets 3 attacks Hasted but that comes with being Undead.

I have one of these on the slab, as a rebuild.
lets just say.. obscene AC is possible, if you know how. the downside
is, you don't really get an 'offense' beyond the usual Wizardy goodness.
(which should be plenty anyway)

actually that was the idea behind my character, she's in the middle of taking her PM lvls now. I was able to plan her out to get 72 AC at the end

At 72 ac even some of the most AB whorers will struggle to hit you, and even then only on a critical, which thanks to your pm is not a critical hit... yay go you! Summon, try to stay back, gs, fully buff, stand near them and watch them take damage..
I dont know what feats you'd have and all but is EDR out of the question?

If we're discussing PvP, it will end badly as your piss poor caster level is dispelled nito the ground, leaving you and your summon buffless and very vulnerable to a Banishment to the summon or an Undeath to Death, and your spells probably can't overcome their very simple SR.

Ack, you are both right concerning the AC and the pisspoor caster levels, luckily this is just for RP
Would I be doing PvP on this server, there is only one build that stands out due to the unique setting in Amia .... I just dont like druids

Generally, the higher above 10 you go with your PM level, the more you turn into a novelty build. You may have great AC once you pick Epic Mage Armor but the thing that you're supposed to be good at, casting Spells, you aren't good at. I can only recommend a Wiz 20 / PM 10 split for getting the main PM benefits and still shine with a decent CL. No Epic Spells, though.

You all speak as though there is a considerable ammount of PvP happening in Amia? Is that so? Is end-game focused on PvP ?

PVP talks once the build monkies get off their leashes, everyone know they search the forums for */*/*, AC, and AB.
So they seems this forum pop up and gave their 5 cents
Go back to the build thread!

I'm in the same boat as Iron, even though I talk about builds an awful lot. You'll have more fun if you just ignore most of what's being said and play your character.

No, but it can be a likely occurance, especially if you intend to play a: Paladin. Banite. Cyricist. Undead Summoner. Drow.
It's best to understand that PvP can and probably will happen over the course of your roleplaying life here on Amia. It's not something to freak out about or worry about, but to just embrace as part of the experience.

Your character may lose a fight, but that doesn't mean you lose as a player.
Conflict, and defeat are some of the best dynamos in the creative process.

In fact can you always just win. You have no harm and you are richer by some experience.
