The town of Ceyren's Mill stands in silence. Blood soaks the ground, and crows feast upon the corpses of demonic hounds as they're left behind. A swarm of the fiends attacked the settlement during the night. It was repelled. Soon after, a new threat arrived at the border. Damned souls, marked as cultists of the Prince of Undeath, launched an attack on the crippled defenders of Ceyren's Mill. The battle raged on and both sides took heavy casualties... but the soldiers of Good are the ones who stood when combat faded.
It would be soon after that the residents of Ceyren's Mill evacuated. They headed east to the infamous Asylum and took refuge within the well-guarded caverns beneath. The wardens of the Asylum doubled their posts made sure the refugees were cared for. The warriors who composed of Dawnguards, Paladins, Mages, and even a kobold, stood their ground outside the gates. They were waiting...
For once, the night of Caraigh was silent. No birds chirped and no wolves howled... the only sound came from those who stood outside those gates. Within the crypts below a ruined town, however, something stirred. From an idol came laughter...
The war had begun.

Tuomas quietly sat in a chair somewhere within the Asylum, as he heard the scraping of wood against the floor. He was urged quietly after a moment.
"Now, remove the blindfold." the voice of the nurse said. He did so, seeing before him an image of a sitting Gnome, black beard with acid burn scars. Upon his wrists and throat were blood-tattoos brimming with vile power. He wore a black trenchcoat with red outfit beneath, and a symbol of the Glutton, the Gnomish deity that devours any and everything.
"Greetings. You are my mirror image, and yet you are not me." he began addressing the figure who's lips moved but no sound eminated from his voice. "You are what I would be if I had been turned vile and dark. You represent everything I oppose." he said, pausing a moment.
" I will not yield to you. I will not let you take over my life. The scars you so mock I bear with pride for they were endured fighting evil as yourself. The vile tattoos you bear upon your wrists.. the Darkness you represent. I will not yield, not now.. not ever. You will have to afflict much more then this curse damning my eyes if you truly wish to see me.. " he paused, continuing to look at the figure as it remained twisted, a reversal of himself.
"I have witnessed the birth of far more vile fiends then you can ever hop to become.. I will never give up, I am sworn to the Seven Virtues." he said, switching to Celestial. "Charity.. Chastity.. Diligence.. Patience.. Kindnes.. Humility.. Temperance.. they are what draws my soul.. " he said, rising to look his twisted self in the eyes. The three mirrors looked back at Tuoams as he approached, rising to meet him in the appearance.
This time, the image rippled briefly before the face returned to the dark, mocking countenance of the Gnomish Wizard.
" .. Ah. I believe I have your attention." he said with a quiet smile. See.. while I oppose what you stand for.. these tattoos.. " he said motioning to his tattoos as he continued. ".. They translate to Peace, Tranquility, and Love.. .. they are things which you cannot understand fore you are born of Chaos.. Darkness. I may not bring a sword into the Ever-struggle, but I bring my intellect, my will and my innovation. Where those who serve you rely upon the typical browbeating, corrupting and fear-inspiring, I have legion in options to choose from to oppose you. Bringing magic and science together.. I may not be defeating to you alone, but I don't have to. " he said, pausing for effect.
"I'm just a gear amongst the machine." he said. Suddenly, the image reflected became that which was his true form. The dark look was driven deep within his throat where he felt a pain.. as although deep within he felt a pain, he knew he had to persist, he had to stand firm against that which tortured him.
~ Chastity.. Charity... Diligence.. Patience.. Kindness.. Humility.. Temperance.. ~ he thought as pain filled his head, a burning sensation filling his throat as white smoke poured through every pore and orifice in his head.
A vageuly feminine shape appeared, a Succubus whom glared at him.
"Ah, hello. Welcome to the Prime Materium.. I.. apologize your stay is going to be rather short." he said politely to the fiend before the door burst open and the Succubus was cut down by one of the Asylum's guards. At that, Tuomas nodded and coughed, the fire finally filling his throat.
~.. That was.. well.. that was definitely refreshing.. even if my throat feels like I spilled Alchemist's fire down it. ~

The now empty village reeked of death, decay and gore that was left behind in the aftermath. A plated man opened the creaking western gate and walked into what looked like a warzone. There was not a soul left in the village, no guards nor any villagers as he could perceive it as he walked across the bridge and back to the crystal node. A wry smile soon clad his face and he rubbed his hands. Slowly he unsheathed his sword and made his way towards the north-west end of the village, taking aim at one of the village buildings that stood empty in the wake of last nights destruction. Hell, or a figment of it, had visited Ceyren's mill. The man made sure to walk over the rotting corpses of the demon hounds and making extra sure not to step into it least there would be bootprints that could tie him, and least get any demonic taint that could corrupt him further. His footsteps echoed eerily in the abandoned village until reaching the first house, close to the watermill. -"There's a time for divine deeds, and a time to help yourself..."
Immediately he stuck his sword in the chink of the first door and forced it open with a malicious gleam in his eyes. If there was nobody to uphold the law, There was no law to follow. If there was nobody to see the crime, there was no crime to report. So he strode into the first house of the hamlet and helped himself to whatever he found. Eagerly he pocketed whatever he got his hands on. Plates, Cups and silver cutlery quickly vanished into a seemingly endless bag he hung about the belt, There was no time to estimate the value of anything found, Just the opportunity to ensure that as much as possible changed ownership on this dreadful day. Drawers were pulled out and emptied on the floorboards and numerous shelf's were torn down to make it easier grabbing the ornaments and things left upon them. The bedsheets torn up with blade to ensure that no gold were hidden in the mattresses. Fiendish presence had thrown the little hamlet into a turmoil and forced it's inhabitants away from their homes, and fiendish presence came back in the wake of the evacuation to scrape off the last dignity that remained. Plundering the life savings that had been left behind. The opportunity makes the thief, as they say.

She had been out of the town for only a short while, walking among the woods of Caraigh. It was quite, oddly quiet she had thought to herself.
After sometime she found herself making her way along the northern coast towards the asylum and the recently formed encampment. It would be right for her to be there, she thought that perhaps she would find Eldania or Cory there, that would be good.
There were many there, to many... something had happened, but she didn't know what. She found Cory after a few moments there with Robert and Seamus... what was Seamus doing there, she puzzled? She stood quietly and listened to their talk. War and battle. Questions and plans. They wanted to fight back it seemed. Samantha watched the Dawnguard in the open grounds with some sense of pride. It seemed her words had done some good. They were acting with thought and order. Perhaps she thought to herself they were ready. Was she truly the right one to determine that? Probably not, but there was definitely an improvement, that was something anyone could have seen.
So she would sit with them and do what she could to make proper plans, but not there. There was far to much commotion. So she asked them to come with her and she opened a portal to Ceyren's Mill....
She didn't know....
There was the typical flash of light and momentary dizziness... but then there was the hands grabbing her urging her to run...
What was wrong? She didn't understand. No one had told her.
There was the flash again and the dizziness...
She was standing alone in a dark cavern... no, not alone. Robert was there. It was then that he told her of what had happened to her home and her people. Her world began to slowly implode...

Black horses are seen frequently around the island of Caraigh, the Asylum's watch over the recent outbreak and search for those that fled Ceyren's Mill before the evacuation goes on throughout the next few days and nights. At the Asylum proper, formations of the guards and horses are seen in practice on the open fields.
Most of the patients whom were cursed and implanted with the demons of the Undead Prince have been cured and released once in stable condition. Still walking, still breathing.
"People complain to much about treatments when they foolhardily jump into cursed crypts, -die- and then are risen from the dead pits of the grave to walk around with a demon inside of them. Seems most of these offlanders have the idea dying by the hands of undead and demons is less painful then a day in treatment." -Asylum Horseman
Serjeant Hirth of Ceyren's Mill is no longer seen, news reports he was slain defending the Mill from the Cultists while the Asylum aided in evacuation of the Mills residents. Jard take up the late serjeants duty and is seen aiding in the care of the refugees at the Asylum.
"So many of the cursed hounds and cultists came to the Mill... they ran past most of us only going directly for the offlanders in gold and white... the Dawnguard they call themselves." -Serjeant Jard
Countless offlanders are seen gathered almost nonstop outside and inside the Asylum. Most or consistently told to not crowd the halls or interfere. They are on the verge of ruining the welcome for anyone that does not need refuge or care.

A skeleton is seen running into Ceyrens mill, to Serjent Jard. Should it not be struck down beforehand, it crumbles infront of Jard, with a note in its clutches.

As taken from the Caraigh thread GothicSauce wrote: A young figure in a homespun surcoat of unknown livery takes up watching the bridge leading to the asylum. As the common folk of the isle flood the bridge seeking healing and protection...he stands guard. The symbol of Lathander rippling on his cloak as the wind blows in off the ocean.
He offers aid to any who need it and stands vigilant to any threats coming from the forest. He defers to the Asylum guards and horseman, but if asked, he will not leave the area or defense of the people.
Some will recognize the young man as Gregory Holcomb, Sir Roberts’s squire whom was recently raised to knighthood. He had been absent from the Mill for a few days as he sought out the leaders of the various factions of Caraigh to find his place. Upon hearing of the grisly packages, Greg had left the major events to his mentor and those better suited. He took up his duty to protect the people, whether they acknowledged his title or not.

After some time...a few days, perhaps a bit more, Elrien, tired and pale, returns to help with the people of the Asylum. She keeps mostly to herself, but her smile is just as warm, and she holds just as much resolute hope as before the battle.
Her work days are necessarily short as she rebuilds her strength, but every moment she can spare she's drowned in work.

A man in the uniform common to the Men at arms of Lord Robert can be seen mounting what seem to be Punitive raids upon the countrysides undead and demon inhabitants. He can be marked out by the ugliest helmet that has ever been seen and his tendancy to use a buckler strapped upon his arm so that he can use his Bastard sword in two hands to better effect to cut down the undead.
His Target so far seems to have been Aigeshed, perhaps a measure of retribution against the attack upon Ceyrinns Mill.

//After a long talk, to avoid any complaints or abuse or whatever would cause people to feel another player is cheating.
Evil shall not attack the Mill, Glade's Grove/Cave, or the Asylum without a DM present to watch.
Good Guys will not even enter the Angished crypts without a DM. And anything plotting above in the ruins of the village will need a DM as well. That include Hallowing, blessing, etc.
Nor any other locations of theirs the good side learns of.
PVP off those lands is fine so long as hostile is done first.

Tarich, in some guise or another, can be seen frequenting the area. His mood swings to and fro, following no apparent pattern, but he joins any war party he comes across without question. It is clear that he craves action, and urges the seemingly meek defenders in this direction.

After a sojourn to recover a certain mystic blade member, Mentaki didn't seem to return to the Asylum with the remainder of the group.

A woman clad in red armor can be seen stepping out of a portal into Wiltun with a body and dropping it in the courtyard. She lingers long enough to appear concerned, exchanging a few words with curious bystander, she is handed a parchment and then she nervously reads over the corpse. "Help me get him over to Coris" the bystander says and the armor clad woman nods then grabs each foot and helps carry the body to Coris.
She turns toward the gates and can be heard saying "I'll return shortly with a few more bodies. Many still need aid." She then exits the fortress and walks to the cliffs edge and overlooks the sea. Reaching into a pouch at her hip she removes a blood covered dagger and tosses it into the sea below.

Taelar can be seen wandering alone in the forests of Caraigh now and then, though he rarely ranges much farther south that Blackmoor Keep.
Recently signs have been popping up in the forests, particularly along te more commonly traveled routes. They depict a simble of Velsharoon that had the crown of the skull replaced with a brightly colored jesters hat, and no writing.

The residents of Ceyren's Mill had little to call their own after the first outbreak of demons and undead. Having to fight for survival, they payed attention to necessity, not extravagance. The thief would find a few cheap trinkets abandoned in the evacuation, but it would seem that the people took what was truely important already: Food, water, and other resources needed to stay alive.

While most of the property, including the more valuable, was moved to Kohlingen with the departure of lady Castiel, the residence of sir Robert still holds a few things that could be of interest. An orderly pile of 20 rolls of parchment lay on the large oak table, the bar still holds ten bottles of fine red wine and six silver chalices and plates, and while most of the books were moved previously, there seem to be still around sixty left, even if no pieces of rarity or great worth are among them. This among other things. All in all perhaps fifteen to twenty five thousand gold pieces could be made by the sale of the noble's possessions. There also seem to be rolls of burned documents in the fire place that were likely hastily disposed off. Perhaps some of them could be partially restored. After speaking with Samantha and Christian near the circle of weather worn stones, Eldainia bid the man a fair evening and watched until he departed. Beside her, the sound of breath drawn in and out of a lithe form filled the air. Her head moved and eyes met those of a feral creature.
Briefly, her hand moved over the head, not touching it but imparting a wave of calm to the animal that many called a carcass eater. The gesture was to soothe it as well as to feel for the supposed ties between it and the land. All things had such and while not as strong as a druid, her path was one that was aware of the same ties.
When Samantha later spoke with her of what was learned, Eldainia had thanked her warmly and saw the other out before turning back to walk through the sunless cavern. Her mind was a whirl with questions. The wild eyed creature watched her approach and followed as she gathered various herbs and berries and began to mix various remedies and treatments.
An aged hound would have been spoken to kindly, worry clear in her voice as she moved to form a place to keep the new animal at. The next few days were spent traveling back and forth between the asylum and the cavern, studying and attempting to question the mutated wolf while carefully using combinations of blessings, scrolls and natural remedies to aid it.
Her heart was tight with concern. What if the wolves weren't mutating but breeding true? What if the mutations remained after they somehow managed to remove the taint on the isle?
Those questions and more moved her searching and to ask aid of the others she felt could aid in finding an answer. Most of all, was it tied to Samantha's vision in Scath Crann somehow?

Briefly leaving the Bridge at the Asylum, Gregory walked to Ceryns Mill. Taking a walk around, and finding the area deserted, he headed back…
When passing the Lighthouse he came upon a mummy. He traded blows with it, to no effect. It suddenly turned and walked away. Moving closer Gregory was confronted by a woman all in black. She warned him to leave. Before he could do more, a huge Slaad came from the path to the Asylum and immediately grabbed Gregory by the helm.
He was asked if he served the Dawn Guard or the other off landers. Gregory responded that he was a Knight of Caraigh and duty bound to protect the common folk of the land as charged by Duke Robert. He was released and told to run and hide in the Mill, that the common folk of Caraigh were not their target. He stood his ground and said he could not do that. His young face was resolute beneath his helm.
He knew that here would be where he died. A winged and vile looking female attacked him savagely…nearly killing him. She laughed as his beaten body was trussed up…death will come soon enough she told him. He was marched to the sea cliff, the new armor given to him by Sir Robert slowly regenerating his battered body.
Waiting for an opportune moment, Gregory tried to drive himself and the filthy woman over the edge of the lighthouse cliff when she was distracted by pulling out her wand of portals. He was to beaten and she was to powerful. His senses swam as the portal wisked him away from the Isle and people he was sworn to protect.
Upon stepping from the portal, Gregory’s stomached turned and churned, he was in a place that radiated a sense of chaos and evil. The woman was followed by the black clad female whom Gregory first encountered. He was beaten again for having dared to escape. They spoke a time, asking Gregory questions about the defenses of the Asylum. He would not speak, save to tell them to kill him and be done with it. They grinned wickedly and said his mortal body would die soon enough.
Gregory saw a huge Demon standing near a large crystal and a plan formed in his head. Knowing he was soon to die, he thought only of preventing his soul from being kept from the Light of Lathander. If he could charge the demon, it would surely not think twice about cutting him down there and then. He tapped his remaining strength and drove his shoulder into the belly of the winged female and would have been able to charge the demon except her companion read the intent on his young face and tripped him up. Before the winged woman could retaliate, a host of dark and vile looking beings began arriving through the portal.
Among them was a single Dawn Guard. He stood out amid the mass as his white and gold livery shone in this evil place. Gregory was heartened…he would not die alone. Commands were shouted, bodies milled around and Gregory heard the Dawn Guard speak.
Gregory went cold inside; he had met this guard in passing and was shocked to hear Arcen quivering in doubt. Arcen’s weak and tremulous voice was beseeching Lathander to not leave him. Gregory shouted to the Dwan Guard that Lathander’s light would come!...That the Dawns light always drove the shadows of night away. He shouted to not give in…or to give up. Gregory was gagged and some paralysis was cast upon him. He was frozen and could only watch as Arcen was cajoled foreword and told to prove his treachery upon Gregory. He was handed a grim dagger dripping green ichors and told to kill his fellow Lathanderen.
Gregory looked into Arcens eyes, they were cold and emotionless and a slight grin was upon his face that sickened Gregory. He tried to convey through his look his thanks that even this evil deed would be a form of redemption, as this would allow Gregory’s soul to escape.
With a sudden and savage fury, Arcen Solais plunged the dagger into Gregory’s breast…twisting it horribly to burst his heart. The light in Gregory’s eyes faded and a gentle smile of peace rest upon his young face.
His limp and lifeless body was dumped in the square at Wiltun. Found immediately by a Winged man and a gentle elf, they tried to assist Gregory. As the winged man cast a reviving spell, three Dawn Guard appeared from a portal and confronted the winged man. Gregory willed himself to return to his mortal body, he turned from the glories of Lathanders realm and came back. He had much left to do and an accounting would be made.
His eyes fluttered open and he saw the Winged man and the Dawn Guard arguing, the gentle elf…seeing him waken…walked off. Everything a blur, Gregory soon found himself in the great temple of Lathander in Ne’sek. He imparted all he had seen to the Dawn Guard and set about healing his body.

A black cloud travelled from the battleground of Actand to the lonely isle of Caraigh. It descended to the ruins of Aigheshed and from those ruins came the sounds of war. Abyssal chantings plagued the air as they echoed throughout the land accompanied by the frenized beatings of weapons against shields and armor. They would all suddenly come to a hault as an agonized scream bellowed forth from the center of it all.
What occured that day was unseen by the defenders of Caraigh, but one thing is certain. The Aspect's collection of wretched undead have received additional soldiers from the demonic armada of Actand. The strength of the abyss is only growing upon the isle of Caraigh, but the defenders continue to stand against the growing threat.
The war continues...

Tyl'modaes was incensed. After all of their planning, after all they had done, K'ssay Everlast was dead--and not only was he dead, but he died like a mewling lamb being lead to the slaughter. K'ssay Everlast had been an idiot, and it had cost him his life.
We only have one chance now. We /need/ the Succubus Lord and the Prince of Demons to answer. If not, Caraigh... Is doomed.
So thought Tyl'modaes Mys'shori, as he slipped out of the Asylum's confines, limping heavily from the pain in his groin, apparently a gift from the Succubus Lord. His expression is one of pained resolve.
I will do my job. Graz'zt... Demogorgon... I will have your audiences, whether you like it, or not...

Horrid symbols appear on the island of Caraigh, they seem to frame the abandoned village Aigheshed.
The first sign was sighted at the southern end of the Foirnbridge.

Inside the Lighthouse, a certain elf called the names of Graz'zt and Demogorgon until he would feel their presence. As soon as he did...
The Prince of Undeath, the Bloated Goat, is at his weakest. He has sent an Avatar to the Prime... He is weakened. This is your chance to remove your greatest hatred. This is your chance... To slay Orcus. Or will you allow a simple demigoddess like Kiransalee to lord that over you for the rest of eternity?

During the longer hours of the watch shifts, the small figure moved between those standing at the entrances beyond the palisades surrounding the Asylum. She passed along arrows that seemed specially made and could be seen gesturing something that looked like a demonstration of how to hold it against the skin.
A tall human male in a pitch black helm lined with a smoky blue spoke with her and then at a whispered request, placed bottles of holy water were kept in supply by the entrances into the encampment along with more instructions spoken in hushed tones. Another man clad in familiar white and gold offered her scrolls of changing that she took around to share with those able to use them, cautioning the accepting ones to use the larger form of a hulk to better track dancers and hidden foes.
Before the eve was out though, many heard the thickly accented voice offering the suggestion to greet each stranger with a request for their name, an insignia if they had such from a known ally and if not, the name of the person that could verify them. Also to ask their purpose there and if none, or simply curious, warn them well of the island's current danger and suggest they portal away with all due haste!

Deep inside the marshlands of Caraigh a lone wanderer stand with shovel at shoulder, a cowl hiding the expression as it stares out the murky waters of the closest mire. The shoulders slope down and the head hangs slightly as he peers down the waters. Crouching down and placing a knee close to the surface of the water to peer down. A huff is heard from underneath the cowl before the wanderer stands up, brushing the dirt of the knee.
In the next moment it swings his shovel off the shoulder and sticks it down the ground, pulling up chunks of dirt and clearly digging. Around the marshlands is an eerie stillness, no birds chirp or crickets sing their symphonies. Stillness reigns these lands this gloomy day and the weather adds to it. Small drops of rain start to fall making circles in the water, disturbing the otherwise still surface. The wanderer continues the digging a good hour.
Greatly huffing it finally stops and looks down what is clearly a grave. Lifting a hand to brush sweat of the forehead before proceeding to phase two. He looks down the murky waters again and sticks his arms down the grime. Slowly he pulls up what looks to be a water bloated creature, chest and head swollen. It's no doubt that it's a human that have been lying in the pond for a good while. With a huff the wanderer drags the figure down the newly dig hole and starts to shovel dirt over it. -"One more to the Lord... One less to endure this struggle. One more into the ranks of the fallen, One less to witness the morning dew. And one more joining the camrades six feet under.
In the increasing rain that soon turned into a downpour several more graves formed in the ascending dusk. The pond seemed endlessly filled with the bloated corpses apparently floating upriver down to the still waters here where the stranger collected them and dig up a few hasty graves.
Naive was the one who believed this task to be limited, for as dawn came there was as many down the murky waters as before. And silently huffing the stranger continued his work, the soft hills of newly dig dirt increasing slowly. The bandits and locals dying around caraigh were slowly starting to turn up.

Mentaki settled briefly, on a break from what was ongoing at the Monolith, swiftly running from the Ceyren's mill Crystal to the Warfront 'front of the Asylum under the protection of Greater Sanctuary and various other abjurations, after the most recent attacks. Observing the state of the defenses. He would, attempt to aid this day by utilizing the spell 'Wall of Iron', creating a V-shaped protrusion, or so intended, to provide a more suitable barrier to the ground based demons to have to filter through than the wooden pallisades.

Many epic things occur, so a few small tears whispered words by the old careigh shrine would recieve scant notice.
A candle either side, sad words soft spoken.
It is never asked the woman condemned be relieved punishment. Her crimes are known and fate earnt.
Yet Renais prays for Laisas soul - In hope, terrible hope that Laisa learn to accept torments raining upon her as justice. That Laisa might learn to cease to flee, struggle, oppose.
Hoping against hope she whispers - that the damned soul of Laisa might hear, might ~learn~ how to escape her prison. That even now escape is possible. That even now... she has a chance. In accepting the greatness of her crime and allowing the hammer to fail, not only Laisas spirit but also those of the coven might find peace.
Renais cries that she was not able to teach Laisa this in life - more, that she feels no priest saw to Laisa to guide her in accepting her due. Now. . undeath. Now, screaming. Now, one spirits quiet hell. There was already too much suffering.
She begs for a release of pain, knowing appeasement never slakes ache for more than scant moments.
Banishment of the ghosts never crosses her mind. Nay, these spirits beg healing, not silencing. Quietly, peacefully, she begs and implores Lathander Renewer and the keepers of the balance to keep open slim chance of learning to these tortured beings, even in their damned state. Renais believes that only if Laisa can accept her crime and punishment wllingly will this eternal ache ever truly find release.
Prayers and quiet whispers. Prayers and quiet whispers.
And above it all, carried on the smell of the incense, in the warmth of the candle-light...
Hope.

with Scatch Cran flooded there seemed to be few options in regard to somehow managing to reclaim the area from the spirits that had taken up residence in the shrine found there. There were of course two that would either be brave enough or foolish enough to attempt to see just what was happening and perhaps put an end to it. This task came down to two volunteers in Velissa Walker and Valithorn Ibris as they were the only two on the spot with the ability to reach the shrine itself.
It was a short walk through the flooded land to reach the source of the water and what was found there was most unfortunate. Several spirits had infested the shrine and were calling down water to continue the flooding of the lands. Velissa was the one who spoke in an attempt to intimidate the spirits but it had the complete opposite effect of provoking them instead. What followed was a fight of epic proportions that the world had ever known which involved an iron golem, a dragon, and some running. When the water settled Velissa and Valithorn were left standing and all but one of the spirits had been destroyed.
This spirit was of the old crone who lived in the pit near the town of Aigheshed. Even as the two rested after the encounter the spirit gave few words before floating off. Without a moment of hesitation they followed her as swiftly as they could until coming upon her body which rested not too far away. Once there the spirit would begin to talk much more as she explained herself and the events of the day that had brought around her death and the flooding.
During this Velissa and Valithorn found themselves having a minor disagreement as to what to do with the wayward spirit and the corpse that still lay at their feet. It was a decision between releasing the spirit from its earthly bonds or allowing it to be reunited with its body and return to the land of the living. In the end it was the promise of information that would sway the decision as she was raised from death and once more allowed to live, much to Valithorn's disappointment.
With the water receding and everything seeming to be back to the way it was supposed to be they began the trip back to the old woman's cave. The journey was quick and upon arrival the crone offered them a book which Velissa hastily took. This book was just what they needed as it had details that could very well offer the resistance to the taint some insight into what was happening and what could be done to put an end to it.

Phearnun wrote: While most of the property, including the more valuable, was moved to Kohlingen with the departure of lady Castiel, the residence of sir Robert still holds a few things that could be of interest.
The estate of the former baron seems to go untouched by the looter(s). Perhaps an oversigh, or perhaps a concious decision made by the sly mind(s).

Quote: out of the devastation and ruin of Ceyren’s Mill, the roads of all but the bravest of heroes a little flicker of life springs up With the townsfolk fled it looks like somebody decided to take advantage of the situation by starting up a risky business venture
A sign has appeared outside of the Singing Sun Tavern at Ceyren’s Mill, It reads
“The Crow’s Nest Tavern & Grill”
Carved into the wooden sign with expert hand is the tavern name and a few inviting words scrawled underneath in wavy lettering the words are flanked by two sea-blue waves crashing into the turquoise letters, which read:
“Come in for a clap a’ thunder, sea dogs an’ freshwater profiteers alike! This be the finest spot on the isle if yer lookin fer good comp’ny an drinks aplenty. Blackrose’s famous spiced rum soon to be on tap“
And over the past few days people dressed in a great vary of ways from Pirates to well dressed gentlemen have been mingling around the bar and starting to rebuild the bars exterior The contents of the tavern leave little to be desired by whomever owns the Singing Sun Tavern, but it seemed recent renovations had been completed which added the kitchen and cellar, and expanded the tavern floor. The tavern, persistently open, lacked locks on the doors so travelers could come and go as they please. It doesn't seem that the place was abandoned, so much as left to fair on its own by its staff. Some liquor bottles were left under the counter, cards and tankards were left out courteously, and chopped wood was left in bundles near the fireplace. Even the guest bedroom had spare sheets folded on the dresser. It's possible that much of this was taken by looters, however.
The office in the cellar seems to be quite lived in, and while there are no valuables and only a scant supply of sundries, the paperwork on the desk entitles the land, building, and assets of the Singing Sun Tavern to one Savrianna Brinston. No deed to the building or official papers are left behind, so it may be assumed she took such important papers with her. Perhaps she and the staff are unaware of the current state of Caraigh, and plan to return at some point in the future, but for now, Savrianna has not been seen for a few months. If asked, the refugees from Ceyren's Mill would perhaps say that her extended trips away from the Mill are common, and cite her "business ventures" as the reason.

Though, at one point, she had given the fate of Carraigh over to her defenders alone, she had never truly believed what she said. Though she distrusted the defenders in general, Janna did not think that her former home should fall to Darkness.
She despaired that Darkness would win, however.
Whenever she came to offer her aid, she was often met with an attitude that said help wasn't needed, though the state of the current defense was threadbare and bedraggled, and spoke otherwise through this condition. Janna often wondered why Amian help was enlisted if the residents could defend the isle alone, as their attitudes seemed to suggest.
When she arrived at the camp, most often she walked in, unchallenged, through a gate that was unguarded. Yes, the asylum rangers were there, but they could not be everywhere at once, as their numbers seemed quite less than those who had been enlisted from the isle of Amia in Carraigh's defense.
Yet, when Janna tried to show these defenders where their mistakes in defense lay, rather than showing concern for their own lives and the lives of those under their protection, she was told to go home, that her help wasn't needed, and the lack of discipline and attention to detail continued, unabated.
Janna could not and would not leave Carraigh alone. She cared enough about her birthplace to be angry at those who seemed lackadaisical in it's defense. She stood guard at critical places that they refused to. If Carraigh did fall, it wouldn't be for the lack of her efforts.
Unlike what the attitudes of some of the native defenders seemed to suggest, Janna knew she, herself, ould never defend Carraigh alone. She would need the others' help, and they would need hers, and many others as well. She only hoped that they would realize it and stop doing the enemy's work for them. Unification, discipline, and hope were needed for this war, not ego and braggadocio.

He had been turned away from the Asylum, Rejected from the last safe haven on the isle and the only place where the resistance continued. Where everybody had fallen, only the united force of the outlanders and the Asylum troops stood firm against the blight that haunted the woods.
At the outskirts of the palisade he stood with shoulders sloping down and head hanging. He had started to enjoy the company of the adventurers that had escaped the dread of the woods only to huddle up together inside the temporary fort. But the Asylum guards held the authority and dictated the laws of the resistance, and had the means to ensure that said laws were held. The entire ordeal reeked of prejudice alongside a hint of brimstone that always followed him.
To the woods he turned with fear in his eyes and hid his expression under his cowl. And as if to match his mood the skies opened up and poured the land in rain and the feeling of sorrow that overwhelmed him. Not even permitted collect his items or warmer garments as he was exiled the cold soon overwhelmed him. He kept to the verge of the woods getting partial cover from the trees but not daring to venture into the blackness where the demons crawled, where carcasses of slewn deer and loss of birdsong evidently foretold of their imminent presence.
Embitterment slowly seethed in his chest and like acid it brought down the walls of hope he had felt in the vicinity of the resistance, he had nothing to turn to - Not even god. And slowly the feelings morphed into a fuming pile of ember, heating him from within with dark thoughts of revenge that painted his core blacker for every step he took. And soon he turned from the verge of the forest and strode with sword unsheathed into the blackness of the woods. Tears dripped from his cheeks and mixing with the rainwater, and only the dim glow of his weapon guided him. James T'Sebek had vanished from the asylum.

Justin had lent his aid as best he could. It was mainly the tedium of guarding the gate at the pallisade at the Asylum.
An obvious attempt to bait some of the Asylum forces succeeded in luring off a few who fell including Rose the daughter of his friends Sir Francis and Kalimor.
When Jerlance returned with Bob's body there was debate over what was to be done with it. Throwing it off the cliff had been ordered and cancelled a couple of times then Dawnmaster Aylomen ordered it placed in a trebuchet. The body to be covered with pitch. It was to be set alight and launched towards the Lighthouse at the Dawnmaster's order.
It was only a corpse of human who had chosen to be a demonic ally. Justin had thought that launching it might demoralize or distract their enemy. He had carried the body to the trebuchet. Justin placed Bob in the sling. Covered the body in pitch and took a flaming brand from one of the cooking fires and stood ready to follow the Dawnmaster's orders.
As he stood there it was as if a voice came to him on the sea wind .. or perhaps it was that the trebuchet took on the uncanny resemblence of Tyr's scales of justice that misgivings filled Justin's heart and doubt entered his mind.
It was only a corpse. It was not just a corpse but the corpse of a demonic ally who had cut down Rose, he thought. Indeed he would have had no problem pouring flaming pitch on such an attacking enemy... but this was the corpse of a fallen enemy.
Perhaps it was the how the sunlight shone on Bob's corpse while shadows seem to fall on Justin that gave him pause...
Sir Fairfax thorough his flaming brand into the sea. He removed Bob from the sling and using holy water washed the pitch from him. Justin placed him in a dignified position and then went in search of the Dawnmaster to tell him he could not execute his order.
He did not find the Dawnmaster but he did find Eldania his second in command. Justin told her he could not do this. He recommended that the body be buried and that she could find it near the trebuchet. Then he took his leave and ported from outside the pallisade back to Kohlingen.
On returning he did not seek out his wife but went to the temple of the Triad to begin his rite of penance. "It is not by just our words or deeds that we sin." One who plots evil has committed evil and Justin had committed evil by agreeing with the plot to do indignity to Bob's corpse.
And so it was he committed himself in prayer, meditation and fasting to examine his soul. He would purge out the sin of rationalism that had almost rationalized himself into not just plotting evil but doing evil.
//edited to take out Bob's last name since it has never been made known

Things have yet to improve on the isle of Caraigh. As a matter of fact, the isle is continuing to decay from the abyssal influence. The wildlife has dwindled dramatically as a result of unchecked slaughter at the hands of demons and undead alike. Likewise, the troublesome bandits are no more. While they once managed to avoid the horrors plaguing Caraigh, they've now become a part of it. Their mangled corpses are animated like all others, slowly stumbling around the areas they were slain.
... How long will the resistance last?

Silently a sword wielding woman walks the empty paths of Ceyren’s Mill. She looks around and her heart sinks at seeing what has become of her home. A chance would have it she comes across one of the new signs claiming that The Singing Sun was under new ownership. Wordlessly she rotates her right shoulder bringing her sword back and then high aove her head. She leans into the swing as she brings the blade crashing down onto the freshly made wooden sign, cleaving it in two. Turning to leave she stops, and makes her way to the door of the tavern. She quietly leaves a pair of presents for whoever thinks they are the new owner – a pair of very well hidden traps that would flatten all but the strongest of souls. Having confessed his sin to Randolph of Tyr, Sir Justin and Claire head to the Frozen Wastes to wreck divine justice against the undead. Yet the hand of Tyr was upon Sir Justin and Claire for when they appeared fully armed and ready they found the now raised Bob.
Bon was vulnerable and asleep at the crystal.
"I apologise to you Bob for plotting to desecrate your corpse..."
Justin confessed the barbaric plan he had been ordered to do. How he had refused and washed the pitch from his corpse.
"I extend now to you the mercy that Tyr has extended to me so that you might meditate on your ways and repent of your evil as I have of mine..."
It was apparent that Bob was not as penitent as Justin. Calling all manner of insult upon the Dawnguards and himself.
"If you wish a fair trial to prove your innocence then present your self to me in Kohlingen and I will see you recieve a fair trial..."
Bob was unimpressed or fearful that he might be proved to be the evil doer that the witnesses had attested to.
"Leave now or by the count of ten I will slay you given the evidence of the witnesses that I have received for even Tyr's patience is not endless towards the unrepentant..."
Protesting Bob fled into greater sanctuary...
Sir Fairfax felt as though a great burden had been lifted from his soul. It was with a certain peace he and Claire returned to Kohlingen and he presented himself before Randolph of Tyr to see if there was more penance that needed to be done.

He returned. After a days of hating that place, Tyrus had come back. He had only done so on the behest of Janna, a note left behind to bid his return to Caraigh. She had been going back and he understood why, at least. It was her homeland, and though he had not been back to his home as often as he would like, albeit a greater distance from the island known as Amia, he at least knew her desire to protect it as best she could. That was the one thing that made him return.
And so he stood inside those defenses after passing their test, gazing around at the defender's camp. How long can they last? he wondered as his eyes took in the beleaguered camp. As his gaze swept the camp, those eyes became cold as they rested on the Asylum. He could feel it. It was deep within, ever present and unforgiving. A fist clenched as he looked at that structure, his anger slowly churning like lava in his soul.
But he pulled his eyes away, looking back to his love instead. That sight of her seemed to press that anger aside, assuaging it somewhat even if it didn't not banish it entirely. So he went to her, standing and listening silently as she talked with the defenders, and took solace in her presence.

Sir Robert opened the letter and read. This time he actually penned down a reply due to the station of the person.
"I have now repeatitly received letters that bid me to take over the military operations or even re-claim Caraigh. However, I gave my word to the people that I would allow them to determine what they believe is best for them when I took the crown, and that was the reason I abdicated and allowed elections. While I believe they have done a series of grave mistakes that now has played a role of the land being in the current predicament, I gave my word. To that I am bound with my honor and I will not break it under any circumstance, regardless if virtue is not convienient at these times. I am sorry, but I must reject your request. My position can only remain a supportive. - Sir Robert"
After handing it to his messenger he looked over the various files and reports before him. The strike against the taint had been prepared, the first real offensive. But until they had the information that would enable them to carry it out, they were stuck. He knew the window of opportunity was closing right before their eyes, if it had not already. Leaving his tent he looked over the encampment. This was no army, regardless how often one would use the term for it. Caraigh was being overrun and they were losing, a truth many wish not to see.
"John, find me sir Gregory."

Janna remembered her first encounter with Bob, as his body was being coated with pitch and prepared for the trebuchet. Bob had tried to scam her and another, in one way or another and when neither her or the other had fallen for it, Bob had gotten insulting and threatening. Janna and her friend led Bob out of the city, and pinned him to the ground with magics, and then attempted to give the skull-helmed man a lesson. Something went awry, and Beshaba frowned upon her. The magic failed, and Bob proved to be more of a fighter than he had originally let on.
Janna woke later with a headache, much lighter in coin.
The next time she had seen Bob, he was groveling to the Banites, at one of their infamous "checkpoints", and seemed to be quite comfortable among them.
Yes, anytime there was someone being hurt, when darkness reared it's ugly head, there was Bob, Evil's Handmaiden, groveling, helping out with whatever foulness was afoot.
Later as Janna had returned from the event in which Bob was supposed to have been launched, she learned what Justin had done. She shook her head. The bastards on the other side would do much worse to them.
Flaming Bob would have made everyone feel a bit better.
Normally, Janna didn't go in for the desecration of corpses. Now, with this awful war and the things that had happened, she had different feelings about it, as she now did about many many things. Had it have been up to her, Bob's body would have already been launched, several times, in small, fiery pieces.

With a grin, she awaits the shadowy figure...,"ahh so dos must be "the enemy"? We have much to discuss...",the group wander off towards the Black Keep...
