Several moons after the rise of the great demonic figure from the Aigheshed crypts, the numbers of demons sighted have risen, spreading further beyond the limits of the ruined town of Aigheshed. Sightings of these demons have been reported by the Asylum to even be happening during day light. Lathandier's limited light shining through the shroud of the usual darkness no longer halts these beasts of the lower planes on their unknown purpose.

"Whatever their purpose is, they must be stopped. His name must not be said, and his taint removed from the afflicted by any means necessary!" ~Father Darian

Manes have been spotted as far as the Cloudfen currently, well over their predicted spread of never crossing the river. They have caused much trouble for man-kind in the wilderness of the island, including the ruffians and bandits as they become afflicted.

Screams of pain and possibly death echo out of the caves of the Asylum carrying out to the crashing sea. The black horses pulling large wagons and carts filled with beaten, bloody, unconscious or even dead adventurers, bandits and other afflicted travelers, leave their marks in the soil of Caraigh as they are pulled to the Asylum.

"We assure the people we are doing all we can to remove these demons from the cursed individuals. This must be done." ~A blood covered Nurse of the Asylum

Ceyren's Mill retains their self-sufficiency through their local crops and livestock. The militia still diligently watching the gates to be on the safe side and have time to alert the locals to retreat indoors.

"If we pay them no mind, they will forget about us as they have in the past. Its the new folks coming in drawing attention to our small town." ~Ceyren's Mill commoner

A figure in violet-and-silver armour goes hunting. An occasional growl of Cormyrian curses rings out if Seleine finds a critter that's particularly hard to kill.

A dark robed, hooded monk is rarely seen but often present in the areas surrounding the Asylum as Iaide watches from shadows, as well as tries his best to fight back any demons approaching the Asylum or the nearby Manor.

Day by day, the Manes appear in various parts of Caraigh in alarmingly large numbers. The foul abyss-spawn have yet to attack any standing settlements, but several patches of blood and gore can be found throughout the isle.

Bandits and wildlife alike are being slaughtered, but no corpses have yet to be found.

A dread Wraith can be seen floating around the uncivilsed areas of caraigh, attempting to drain the life force of the now abundunt Demons. Its summoner stands, cloaked in invisibilty, behind it, preparing to take one of these foul demons back to the somewhat ababanded(sp?) Enclave for further experimentation.

The Wizard looks over the pile of gore left by the mane, and simply takes a small sample, he then notices many headed for him, thus he ports away to the enclave, and any that followed would soon be destroyed by Pit Fiends.

The missing man at arms and ex-War Knight are returned, less than alive but in (generally) one piece.

If raised, the woman has strings of ranting Cormyrian curses that know no end, including calling her man twelve kinds of a fool for not listening to her.

Throughout the nights, the skies of Caraigh begin to echo with shrill screeches. If anyone were to look up, they would only see darkened blurs flying overhead and out of sight.

The dark wizard looks to the sky, on another of his outings to the island, he looks with wonder as to what the new... things were. He would shoot a few balls of electricity into the air, hoping to down one for closer inspection.

Samantha spends the hours of the night patrolling the mill. Where needed she weaves magic either to light the area or protect the local guards. Should she come across any of the local residents brave enough to be out of their home she would offer to walk with them on what ever great errand had them out in such dark times.

She also opens the storage of arms and equipment that have been gathered for anyone willing to use them to defend their homes and family.

The Asylum receives the oddest of packages save for those who were aware of its arrival. A bag is deposited by the gates and clucking could be heard from within it. If opened, there were three chickens and some small personal possessions. A deer would have been seen walking away after delivering the bag, vanishing into the nearby woods.

Licking the sky with a forked lightning that soon follows by the sound of rolling thunder before the rain continues to pour down as it usually does over caraigh, It's the summer storms that roll in over the island. The ground is bloated from the rain and small temporary streams of water drift from the puddles to the many rivers in the marshlands.
The Asylum looms gloomily from the cliff edge on this rainy night. And while the thunderstorm rolls in from the north-west and repeatedly lights the sky up giving a lone wanderer striding up towards its gates a black and white image of the asylum ever so often before the night turns pitch-black again.

Ironed gauntlets lifts sword and knock the hilt several times upon the Iron Gates that blocked his path across the bridge leading up to the Asylum itself. Five times he slams the hilt towards the iron bars which resonates eerily across the night, The last strike unison with the rolling thunder.
The screech of rusty gates opening as he steps in after having ensured that the men and women on the asylum were perfectly aware that a visitor knocked on their gates and were not making its way towards the main building.

Approching the asylum is the sound of metal boots upon the stone bridge and a slight chain-mail frazzle come closer towards, until the door slams open in unison with the rolling thunder booming over the coastline. In the light of the next lightning that cut the air a figure in breastplate and hood steps in and closes the door behind.

-"...Heard you folks had some problems here... For a price, I'll be glad to solve them for you.

Rain had soaked the plated figure as he threw his hood off and revealed a tanned man obviously originating from the far east, Black hair pulled back in a knot and eyes to match. He held a hand casually on his sword-hilt and looked around to whomever had been present to greet him with a wry smile.
There was an unmistakable stench of Sulfur around him, subtly masked with a hint of roses and tobacco.

The Asylum recovers the package of chickens as expected, leaving them to be cared for in the small fenced in patch of grass by the Nurses. Occasionally an old women is outside to see them.

The man visiting is greeted with knowing and trained eyes from the Asylum guards. He enters the Asylum walls with two of the black armored horsemen and the rest is unknown.

A very small group of armored men, one of them bearing the heraldry of sir Robert, have begun to engage the manifesting demons in small merciless skirmishes in the wilderness. They seem to come from untamed wilds of Dormwood to conduct their bloodbath and then withdraw once more. Their target appears to be solely the taint. The bandits that still roam the isle are left alive by the nobleman and his companions. Even those that raise their weapons against the knight are only sent off with a severe beating.

It walks quiet and alone...

Out of sight to most...

But when it appears, woah be to what it exacts its wrath upon...

Fire and ice rain from the sky, lightening arches among its foes leavng nothing but broken remains.

Day One of the Lathanderites presence is chaotic and unorganized, at best. Though the Dawnguard HAVE shown in large force, they seemed in a veritable frenzy over preparing and setting up their encampment, which lies in the clearing near the Lighthouse.

Harpies rise over the cliff edge to ambush the Crusaders, but they pay little attention to it. Some patrols have been extremely successful while others not.

At the encampment, various emissaries and allies approach and offer various amounts of aid.

The Dawnmaster relaxes at the end of the day, confident in the new orders placed, new priorities listed, and a new system of structure to carry on throughout the day.

The lights and fires of the encampment grow dim as Guards are placed in position, exchanging shifts at odd intervals. Pairs of Crusaders wander and patrol the inner encampment while others guard the edges. The glow of candlelight from the Command Tent glows until the wee hours of the night...

The Dawnguard sleep, taking what little hours their given- though spirits are high as they await a new Dawn.

The Asylum is busy working on their new patients. Night and day the nurses are hard at work. Screams of one or two people are occasionally heard near the Asylum. To the outsiders, the cliff side Asylum looks grim indeed.

A lone figure, with white cloak long and violet eyes bright, picks her way through the darkness surrounding the camp, foraying deep into the woods for any scrap of information she might come across. 'Tis lonely, being the only forward scout on Dawnguard payroll, but someone has to do it.

Sir Robert silently watched the two cultists from the cliff above them as they spoke to Eldaina, then left into the woodlands to head to Ceyren's Mill. Upon his return, he was in the company of a large group of the Dawnguard and adventurers, instantly spurring into action and cutting down the palemaster with two cold merciless blows before he or his companions even had proper time to react. The battle was over as quickly as it started. There was not glory in it, killing them in a surprise attack with far greater numbers.

Sparing very little words for his companions in arms as he took his leave from the group shortly after. It is clear that he has now begun to resort to guerilla strikes against the taint and it's servants, using the untamed woods covering most of Caraigh as a shield against his usually far larger enemy. Every now he appears in his blood stained and dirt covered armor to help adventurers against the undead and demons, but rarely conversing with them, his expression hidden by his helmet.

Wrought with concern, confusion, and a hunger for revenge, Tyrus left the mainland not long after the events of the night before. Returning to the island of Amia, he let his thoughts go over the recent events ... and tragedies. The Dawnmaster and Tuomas' affliction was bad enough, but when Janna and the others who had perished returned above ground... Tyrus knew not what to think. And then the revelation of what another had spoken unto him, that was enough to set his course firmly.

But still, as he traveled and began to think something nagged at him. Could be trust what he had been told? Contrary to his outward appearance, there was a keen mind behind his hood and helm and so he pondered all that had transpired. Grief never once threatened to overtake him, no did he lose hope, but uncertainty was there. There was one thing he knew, however: he would die to protect Janna.

Returning to Cordor he couldn't go back to their home. Not yet. Instead he picked up some supplies and paid for a room at the Nomad. There he sat for long hours, thinking and writing before falling into a restless sleep. Letters would go out the next day concerning the events.

The darkened blurs overhead and the shrill screeches still filled the air, as if it had become a macabre dance and song of the night. Suddenly the very earth shook around Ceyren's Mill, the birds flying from their trees. Seeking the origin of this new disturbance, Samantha Lockheart, Lady Renais and another templar of the Dawnguard, along side of sir Robert headed into the woods. Standing there were three of the unholy cultists.

The templar of the Dawnguard rushed forward, but a moment later all of them were engulfed in a great inferno of fire as the hellball soared into the ground. The very air around them was aflame and the dark of night lit for a moment by the flames. Wounded sir Robert was the only one who managed to retreat alive after this overpowering assault by the dark servants of the demon lord.

------

From the graveyard in Aigheshed the sound of a staff tapping carried in the air as the aged dark robed man walked forth, a monstrous armored skeleton flowing with negative energy accompanying his side.

The preparations for the gruesome testament of the power of the servants of the prince of the unliving were being done, bodies of their fallen enemy resting on the ground to be used like props in a vile piece of art. The three cultists slowly rose and turned to look west. There, standing was sir Azeriel, still stripped of the blessings of his lord. It seemed another befitting sacrifice had stumbled into their midst.

A noise - a twig snapping and then the sound of chain links falling and rising. Turning, Seeamros felt the impact upon his chest. There, gleaming in the holy light that wrapped itself around it stuck the blade of sir Robert. The hot blood of his body running down his chest. Falling to his knees, he now clearly saw the noble in his blood, gore and dirt stained armor, only before the second strike took his head off.

"Oh shit!" Out of the corner of his eyes, sir Robert could see the pale skinned woman turning and fleeing. The man was right behind her. His first strike cut deep into the flesh of her thigh, before the second impaled her upon his blade, pushing through her body from her back through her chest. Even before she hit the ground, the noble had ripped his blade from the gaping wound and sprinted into the ruined center of the town.

Only one was left. Ternin, Terrora, James, Yas'da, Tahlir and Azeriel heading straight for him. The holy incantations for an earthquake were being uttered, but the attack of one of those charging him prevented the spell to be unleashed upon them.

He was outnumbered and his unholy blessings were wavering. Taking flight the enchantment of strength disappeared suddenly. Weighed down by his heavy plate armor he had no chance to avoid the relentless strikes of the blade wielded by the noble. The escape that became impossible by being unable to run, as if it were a vile jest of Besheeba, was his end.

After a quick search of the bodies, his part was done. Cleaning his blade from the blood spilled this day, sir Robert departed into the wilds once more.

The dead on the side of the Dawnguard and Samantha Lockheart were taken to a priest, while Seeamros and Mathan managed to escape the custody of the adventurers later.

One redheaded woman finds herself locked in the general patient quarters over night, quite irritable. She claims a bunk after an unexpected fight in the barracks, her pleas for an early evaluation are declined, and after a small scuffle with one of the other patients, that left her dead on one of the other beds. Reluctant to sleep, she cleaned her equipment and weapon and made sure incense burned throughout the night. At some point in the night, she sits on a stool by the large window. An incense pot burns on the floorboards at the base of the window, and the woman looks out while holding her rosary...

She lay dead. She lay impaled, bound, gagged, chained to heavy ingots of iron, but mostly, she was dead.

It had started when, in the asylum, where she had willingly submitted herself, a visitor had come calling. Cory. The skull helmed man was speaking to the inmates, chiding them for getting themselves into the predicament.

Janna had brought up an interesting question.

"Now with most of our force in this place, how will you hold the line?"

Cory responded, saying that he's handle it himself.

Janna then asked him another question.

"Why did you need all of us if you can handle Orcus by yourself?"

There was an admonition not to say the name of the demon. Janna didn't believe such foolishness. Child's tales.

"Who, Orcus?"

Another admonition.

"I don't believe in such crap." She went to sit down. At that moment, the building shook, and The Aspect of Orcus appeared.

Later, when she was raised, she had begin to think about what she had heard. How they had arrived here.

If this force wasn't truly needed, then why were they brought here? Why did Mentaki direct them to break a perfectly defensible camp, and lead them into a situation which left over half the fighting force possessed?

I'll have plenty of time to think about it, but it already smells like shit.

Janna got bored. She decided to humor herself, and pretended to be possessed.

The young Dawnguard, Chia, and Nev tackled her and clamped a hand over her mouth. Under the hand she screamed the demon's name again. A blade cracked her head and another entered her chest.

She awoke gagging on her own vomit, and smelling like excrement. The gag was removed so she could cough it out but before she could get a word in, it was replaced. She opened her eyes to see Chia, and the young Dawnguard. She tried every measure she could to plead with them to remove the gag, to no avail.

Then, she rolled her eyes up and held her breath.

Chia started to administer breathing, and when the gag was off, Janna spoke, trying to explain to them what had really happened, that she had been pulling a funny. The two spoke to her as if she were a child, and very much without compassion. The gag was slapped over her mouth again.

The damn thing itched. It was filthy and it itched. Her hands were tied up and weighted down, and so she did what she could. She rubbed the gag on her shoulder when the itch became maddening.

She decided she would be as obnoxious as she could with this thing on, so that maybe they would take it off again. She started humming various sing song melodies.

Cory entered the room again, speaking to Chia and the young Dawnguard.

It itched. She rubbed it fiercely against her shoulder.

She was told that if she didn't stop trying to remove the gag, they would kill her.

The damned thing itched.

Time dragged on, and she tried to distract herself with more humming but it got worse.

GAH! She began to rub the gag against her shoulder, trying to do it without them seeing.

Chia gave the order, and the young Dawnguard approached with his sword poised. She screamed, hearing someone entering through the door. Tears streamed from her eyes. She screamed again as the blade plunged through her chest and...

The white-clad monk seemed oblivious to the passing events, sitting in a corner with her back to the wall, ankles folded up onto opposed knees, hands in her lap. Meditating, in all likelyhood.. With a very troubled look on her pale visage.

She looked inward, hunting through herself. Something was off.. Wrong.. Malformed. The sweet song of her Ki was soured.. And she needed to know -precisely- why. Long hours passed fruitlessly.

Meanwhile, at Father Darian's asylum, Tuomas seemed to try his very best to get sleep , managing to do so with only intermittent difficulties with nightmares waking him up.

He seemed to spend a fair amount of time with his eyes closed, however.

A lone figure in black armor can be seen wandering the southern reaches of Caraigh, killing anything undead or extraplanar he comes across with brutal efficiency.

Travelling between the Dawnguard encampment and the Asylum to aid in treating, Elrien seems to have been removed from actual fighting (Probably due to her pregnancy) but not from the overall effort. Seems Adela's frantic shrieking cowed her into submission.

Incidentally, when he's not out fighting, the armored figure can often be seen feeding carrots and apples to the several horses kept for the guards in the asylum stables.

*The crimson eyed Dawnguard named Christophé finally layed down after watching over so many for so long. Torn between doing what was right and following orders he found himself questioning his morals. He had killed a lady and used his sword to bind her body to the ground so that she would stop risking the lives of others. The tears he saw in the final time were his alone. Tearing into his Helmite soul. Was he truly doing what was right and what was just. Exhausted and still wounded his body finally collapses and is layed to rest within a bed. He wonders if this path was truly one he had chosen or if it was carved out for him in a blade. He thinks of the lady he killed a young one named Janna and also over Chia and Cory's words. It was a choice not easily made but in this Asylum who is to say that it is not effecting each person mentally.*

*He is reminded of his training as a blade and as a paladin. The oaths he took that are in question but the dogma of Helm he has fallowed to a tee. Has it come finally time that his calling lie elsewhere, where him and the Dawnguard doing more harm then good. It can't possibly be such for he saw to it the encampment stayed in place not straying from his own orders. But where his fellow Dawnguard doing the same. Unknown the answer lies but what is unknown is sometimes far worse then anything else on ones mind.*

... *Drip*................. *Drip, drip*.........

*Tears streak down the Dawnmaster's face. His body convulses with his sobbing, though his head remains still- the leather straps clamping his head to the mechanism. Thick spit hangs from his lips. When he cries for aid, the strands of spit suspended from each lip bend with the hot air from his voice. He cries, drools, sweats, unable to reach with his hands to- *

*...Drip...*....

..What have I done.... Wh-.... Why, Lathander...

*Memories flash through his mind, memories of her songs.. her poems. The laughter he shared as people stepped through those Chapel gates, smiling faces, the Tyrant of Hugs- Anything that was. Anything that represented a time when he -felt-. Aylomen thought of it all-*

*...Drip...*

*He'd lead them all to disaster. To ruin. He is alone, surrounded by wicked, and evil men. They stare at him, all of them. They gather around his chambers. They speak about him, wondering what they're going to do with his body, then they touch rags to his skin, preserving him until they decide what to do with him. And now he sits, water dripping onto the top of his head. How it hurt.. how it POUNDED and invaded his thoughts..*

*..Drip....Drip..............Drip*

*The world around him twists and contorts with wicked imagery. Truly.... he has left the world he once was and woke to find himself in a Nightmare. A nightmare that was inescapable.*

*....Drip...*

It was not until that following night that Tyrus again stood in their home. There was still no grief as he looked around the living room that they had worked on just a few days ago; he had lost nothing at all, yet, really. But... something nagged at him. Something did not seem right. Perhaps it was what Chia had told him. Perhaps it was the looming darkness of Aiseshed. Perhaps it was nothing. But something bothered him, yes, something strong enough to shake his usual clam silence.

And so it was that Tyrus, who held faith him his god but would never be mistaken for a pious man, sat down on on the bed that should have held Janna the night before, and began to breathe a prayer:

"Hoar..."

Strangely, the stag-horned figure could be found moving between the cross roads to the west of Dormenwood and checking upon the herbalist and her apprentices. Often bringing word of what was happening if any of them remained at the smallish tower.

If asked, her reply would be a worried one before she would head away to a half finished shrine just beyond the cliff pathway.

All other times would find her moving when able between the pass, Mill and grounds beyond. Those familiar with the Glade insignia might see others bearing the same moving through as well like spirits of the forest.

She awoke. She was still bound and felt a touch upon her shoulder.

That voice. Her voice. The hatred for the voice seemed to flood her, to overwhelm her, so much so that she had begun to weep out of frustration for not being able to kill it's owner.

Chia, with my last breath I will see you suffer

The thought came and went, but she kept it to herself. She felt the woman's filthy hands begin to lift her, and so she stood up, keeping her head down. The hatred burned in her. Yet, she kept it to herself.

"Do it... do it... do it..." An echoed memory.

The command uttered by that voice. She would remember it. Oh, she would.

The instructions of the Asylum Ranger... the walk down the hall.... the few moments of tension between her beloved and the ranger... then... she was free.

Tyrus picked her up, as she still wept from the intensity of her hatred for the Savran Priestess, and he ran with her.

They did not stop until they reached the site of the Dawnguard Camp by the lighthouse. Her bonds were cut free, and she finally opened her eyes to see Tyrus there. There was an urgency within her, she felt that if she did not grab onto him and hold for dear life that it would prove to be a dream.

It was no dream, she was free. Her eyes swept momentarily across the now despised white, gold, and crimson armor, only to return to the face of her love. She kissed him. It was a kiss she had never given anyone, ever.

The nightmare, for her, was over. Carraigh, as far as she was concerned, could settle into the abyss, next to Zanshibon, and she wouldn't shed a tear.

Wearing a blindfold, Tuomas lay in the bed he has been given at the Asylum. He seemed, in spite of whatever nescessitated the use of the Blindfold to have a slight smile as he contemplated.

~.. When is it one truly appreciates something so taken for granted as a sense. The ability to see , to percieve light against darkness, to percieve the smiles , the frowns, the sun, the rain.. when your eyes make you see the worst in all.. that is when. ~ he mused to himself , quietly content as he continued to contemplate.

~ Even our sight is a gift from our progenitors. A gift that can be taken by the will of the malign.. or restored by the benign. And yet, though.. it is the malign whom have gifted me with this insight into sight.. that it is so very precious. When I can see again, I will try to begin some work on my concept I had begun before.. ~ he thought as he continued to ponder.

~In general, one can choose to disagree, one can choose to condemn or judge if that is their wish. It is not the Adherant's place to judge or condemn, but instead to persevere and to continue to serve Good, regardless of what others think of them. In the grandest sense, there always, ALWAYS will be those who are grateful for the actions of the adherant even if history itself is written by those who feel it their place to judge and to condemn.~ he quoted to himself in memory, his mind still seeming to smile.

~.. Even if I cannot help much more here, I shall still strive to see beyond the hindering of my sight until it is restored. ~

*Christophé leans against the wall within the Asylum waiting. Seeing person by person being checked over and leave such a nasty place as this. He feels stuck and trapped in a place he does not desire to be. Watching the others knowing that what was done here will forever change the world he lives in forever. Taking the holy water from Renais he waits every now and then running some over a cloth and placing it upon himself. Placing some upon the beds and upon blood within the floors. So much death has come from this attack so much unnatural creatures come tearing through innocents. Helm had not prepared him for such thing and Lathander sure as heck did not make the Dawn seem so bright at this moment. But keeping his wits he does all he can do to keep the others safe. Taking all the precautions he can.*

*He wonders when will be his time to get checked and if he shall be clean. For he knows in his mind that he cannot be there at this Harrowing. If they seek to banish a Demon lord into another plane what is to say that such a spell would not tear his own soul from his body. He remembers being hit with banishment before and how his Aasimar blood was boiled and the pain unbearable. Was this truly fate that intertwined so many dark roads in this path. These are things running through his head as he leans sword resting to his side guarding and waiting for anything for he knows that this thing is far from over. But what can he do when his orders are so confused right now with to many giving such.*

*So for now he awaits his fate running over what he can do until then. What a sense of humor such a word carried in its meaning "fate" as if one ever had a choice.*

She is home...

The thought, so refreshing and lifting, cycled through his head: She is home...

The day before was hectic, filled with letters and travels, hardly know what to think. A purpose had filled him. A single, solitary goal the likes of which had not touched his very core in so many long, lonely years. It was not a surprising one, for any who had loved would have felt the same. But all he knew was that it burned inside of him, filling up his being with a passion he was not accustomed to. I will set you free... How many letters had he sent out, bearing the same urgent message? They were not many, but they were sent to those he knew with certainty could be trusted.

Trust. His love trusted them, and so then did he.

She is home...

Urgent letters. Impromptu meetings. Time running out. That was the day Tyrus had found himself in. And through it all, constant nagging in his mind and sharp concern over the woman he loved. I must find her... The day closed and Tyrus journeyed to the mainland, searching for one in particular now. Not the end of his quest, but a stop. A comrade? And then, a fight in Aiseshed, that place where he longed to go below and plunge his sword into the heart of that foul demon which had caused this. Not the darkness over the land, but for her to be locked up like some animal. But her continued, past the defenders of good as they rallied to go back into the cursed place, leaving them far behind.

The Mill. So close. So close he sped up even faster, not stopping until he found himself upon the camp of the Dawnguard.

Confusion. Concern. Frustration. Anger. Resolution.

Again he left, knowing where he must go. Let the Dawnguard sit and rot in their camp if they wish it. He must know how she fared.

The Asylum. A somewhat friendly face. Chia.

Rage boiled through his body as she told him the tale of the past day.
I will kill them! I will slay them all!

Tyrus followed them below, heeding no warning to stop and stay back. But he was too slow, barred by a heavy bolted door. "Bastards!" he cried out, pounding upon it. Venting his frustration, his anger, he punched that door that blocked his way, kicking it. Pacing before it, his gaze cold and unforgiving.

And then... it opened. A glare from the Elite and an angry comment. His mouth opened and...
"Janna...?" He took her into his arms, fighting the urge to run the Asylum Elite through with his sword, and left with her. The words of those around fell upon cold, deaf ears. Touch her again... and I will kill you.

She is home...
She is home.....
She is home.......
