Those look pretty good, but I've gotten too used to my completely transparent windows from Amethyst Dragon.

I feel like such a newb for asking, but how do you do this? I'm not aware of any option other than in the NWN control files.

Open nwn.ini in Notepad.
Scroll down to where it says [Display Options].
There is probably a line there which says FullScreen=1. Change that to read FullScreen=0. Add a line if it doesn't exist already, to say AllowWindowedMode=1.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to.
Works for me, cept sometimes when I switch from windowed back to fullscreen (running Win7 Pro 64bit, mind you) it gives me the Windows mouse pointer rather than the NWN one. When I click, takes me back to Windows and I have to Alt+Tab back then click again a few times to get back into NWN with control of my chara ><
Downright annoying but I live with it lol

Downright annoying but I live with it lol Meep, thanks Sven. Dont alt-tab, ALT-ENTER It seems to work differently for some reason.

Alt-tab switches between windows, alt-enter toggles full screen and windowed mode.

indeed
What I am referring to is that if I Alt+Enter to go windowed and then go back to fullscreen, I get stuck in a quasi NWN/Windows state. I have the windows pointer and if I click I go back to Windows, but I can move and control things IG via the letter keys (WASD, etc). I have to Alt+Tab back to Windows, then the game, click, and might be back in the game completely, or I just have to rinse and repeat until I am in NWN completely.
I could probably have avoided this by installing NWN to XP Mode, but I don't feel like uninstalling and trying that lol
Like I said, not a huge deal just something that gets irritating. Besides, I think I like being in windowed mode now all the time. I just increased the screen size in windowed mode to 1024*780 or something to that effect and I can see fine and still be able to multitask. For serious IG times, I just hit up fullscreen again =D

One of the many gorgeuous overrides has caused me a little problem.
Whenever I travel through the Frost giant territory in Brogendenstein I see huge holes in the ground.
Perhaps a Dm could tell me the tile floor used there so I could delete it from my ovverride and alls normal again?

I so thought she was a guy with the whole "Everyone playing this game is a dude and some are creepy dudes that like to play female chars to come after your nickers." Yet she completely proved me wrong. First the MSN happened with the whole "Im so not a dude" then the phone call on my birthday proving to me she was indeed a female. Good thing to because the feelings I was getting where all confusing. Totally straight guy who was finding himself overly interested in talking to a person online. Freaked this beach bum out. But after time we got to know one another then got hitched. So she technically stole this Canadian and imported him to america. But! I can confirm she is definitely a woman and definitely my wife. And with that *Goes shifty eyed with a Katana* My wife....my precious *cough* On a lighter note like my colors in my font so be the colors she has added to our computers. So figured it was befitting to make my writing all color coded like the overrides. Ohhh shinny *wonders off to stare at the bloomin neon spell things and scrolls and junk.*

Ioun Stones better visiuals, http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Ha ... il&id=6894Now, to install this you need to do some advanced stuff within the .2das. Its the only way I could get it to work. First, download this hak. Next, go into your NWN/Utils folder and find NWhak Use NWhak to open this hak. Now, extract all the contents of it, except the visualeffects.2da, to the Override. Extract the visualeffects.2da (Which we'll rename to IounStone.2da now so we do not get confused) to your desktop or some other place. Open that with notepad. Fine lines 580, 581, 582 and 584. These are the Blue, Red, Green and Yellow Ioun Stone effects. Next, open your Amia_V2_a.hak and find the visualeffects.2da there. ( BACK THIS UP!) Extract this to the same place as the IounStone.2da. Open with Notepad. Find lines 499, 500, 501, and 502 Now, in the IounStone.2da Copy all of line 580 -except the number- Go to the visualeffects.2da from the hak. We want to highlight all of line 500 -except the number- and paste. Do this for all the appropriate colors. They are all named VFX_DUR_IOUN_STONE_RED/BLUE/GREEN/YELLOW We just need to switch them from one .2da to another. Once you have done that, replace the visualeffects.2da (The one you extracted from the Amia_V2_a.hak! Not the IounStone.2da!) back in the Amia_V2_a.Hak and say yes to overwrite. Now you will have fancy and lore correct Ioun Stones. http://vnmedia.ign.com/nwvault.ign.com/ ... ullres.jpg I have tried this without changing the hak client side and it will not work since the hak includes a custom .2da which we need to edit so on our sides show the nicer VFXs as an override, otherwise the Haks, 2da will always go over our custom ones. The second way, and less hak intrusive way requires a lot of manual editing with the new VFX models. Each one will need to be renamed to the default effect for the Ioun Stones, which the .2da doesn't even show, you'll need NWN Explorer and look through things in there for the correct names to make it a .2da-less override. You will also need to edit each and every model file to now work with the new names. I am not going to be doing this since I do not have the time. But anyone else is free to try if they want to make it an easier override. Sorry if the directions are confusing. And if you do not understand this at all, I suggest you do not even try. Since if you do things wrong and then overwrite the .2da in the hak, you'll have to re-download the hak all over again if you did not back up the visualeffects.2da as I said.

I'd just say to add that shit to the hak but I think it would actually mess with Sanctuary and Mage Armor.

Nope different effect. Sanctuary and Epic Mage armor are like effect 408 or something. Works perfectly. Nice these actually have more ioun stone effects too. So we can even make our own stones.
Guess only unfair thing is everyone with this can tell the difference between a blue Ioun stone and GS/EMA
Mostly posted it since its a way to update some simple things in the hak without making it require a full new download. Where normally trying to make this an override will not work.

I think the 'realistic' ioun stones look amazing. But looking at all the work to change a minor visual really put me off. Not owning an ioun stone is also a factor in my laziness.
I would love to see these in the next hak update if there ever is one.

They should totally be in the hak. They're awesome. Might do it myself later, since I'm sick trying to tell the difference between all the ioun stones and EMA visuals swirling about.

Looking it over again. I am sure unless people are like me, they never touch the 2das for this stuff. So here is a clean Visualeffect.2da straight from the hak with the modifications. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=H7IF7FBHYou still -must- have the models in your override. If not this will remove all ioun stone visuals from your game. So download the Ioun Stone hak, export the files to override, then place this into your Amia_V2_a.hak and overwrite when prompted. See my previous post for details on how to do this.

If we ever touch the hak again, these should be included. http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Ha ... il&id=6051If its even just the horns it is worth it. Eyes aren't needed any more. Though those ones do seem to be more... in the head model rather than hovering in front of the eyes.

More important and useful things could be added to the hak if you ask me. Ioun stones aren't widely distributed enough to make it worth doing. Don't see why something like this should be added that benefits a very small percentage of players. A lot of which gained their ioun stones through endless grinding and not RP.

Eyes aren't needed any more. Though those ones do seem to be more... in the head model rather than hovering in front of the eyes. *looks and gets very excited and anyone that knows who she plays, immediately knows why*

New override file for you. This will turn your bluish white magic missiles pinkish white. Try it, if you don't like just remove the file fxpa_flare02.tga from your override folder. Unfortunately your conjuring VFX don't change, since they are shared with various other spells, it's just the actual missiles that change.

Would it be possible to give each stone a different colour, too (as opposed to, say, Pink and Deep Red sharing the same model) - if you guys do end up releasing a new hak?

Yeah, I've done that already for myself. There isn't a colour for pink in that hak though, so I used purple instead. It's awesome being able to tell the difference between the pink/red ioun stones, and GS/EMA too.

And it's not possible to simply change the models? (For a pink tint, that is.)
