I've sent out some IC feelers and havent had much response, afraid this will get my head bit off but Im looking for anyone who is currently playing a Hoarite and would like to get more divine retribution RP. Rikkudai is the Chaplain in Nesek and Im looking to make a little bit of faction rp start up again. If anyone wants to give it a shot pm me. I studied up on the lore again and will try to keep all nice and proper. Will be rebuilding very soon so if any low level or beginners want to jump on that bandwagon please let me know!

I switched Katina from Hoar to Kelemvor because of the lack of Hoarites.

Shame on you! ;P

Ardok's still around, Pigeon, you know that. Just send me a tell when something's up, sometimes I idle on him anyway when nothing's on with my main two.

Uh. Didn't you tell me Ardok wouldn't speak to her because she's female? Makes it awful hard to deal with the rest of the faith with prejudices like those.

Actually, I said it's hard for Ardok to respect females. And that info was given OoC in a Tell. That should not deter your IC actions or influence you changing your PC's faith, just because I was giving you insight into my character. And for the record, Chauvinism is not even a Hoarite sentiment, that's just Ardok.

I just wanted to make it clear under what context that information was given, as I didn't want any possible future Hoarite players to be deterred thinking that was a faction thing. My apologies and dropping it.

I'm around as Ardok a lot of the time. I know a few other players Hoarite players and I will ask them if they have any interest in playing their Hoarite folk again should I see them on any time soon. Before the faction stared to slow down a while back, I was actually working on the Hoarite monk branch and had a few players actually involved. If any of you guys are reading this, send me a PM, I'm interested in picking up our RP where we left if you are.

Hoar is the deity of poetic justice, divine vengeance, and carefully meted revenge. Not undue, over-taken vengeance and revenge, no, but the exact, eye for an eye revenge. When a man spurns your lady and your honor is besmirched, it is a Cleric of Hoar to whom you may petition to have this insult redressed. When a merchant moves into town and steals your business, the Hoarrans may be called in to appropriate compensation to the poor vendor. The man who murders your brother by drowning him may find himself thrown into a river at midnight, stones tied to his feet.

He is a harsher Tyr and a softer Shar and Bane, which has him in a tug of war between the aforementioned deities.

Until the Edition Which Shall Not Be Named, in which he becomes an exarch of Bane, but that's not the case here.

Think..."An eye for an eye."

Jyro, Imay, but your main is a Banite?

Id like to keep any chanceofOOC down... Would very much prefer if the people I get to play, can play mainly on this one, or on other characters that dont cross paths as much.

This way if any big plans comeup, I dont suddently have no posse

I understand the desire to have people play their Hoarite as a main but I'm not really understanding the conflict you speak of with Banites.

As it stands, Hoarites are as neutral towards Banites as they are towards Triadics. Especially given Tormak's description above. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

For the overall Dogma, yes...

On Amia, wrong.

Banites on Amia are, shall we say 'over the edge' a bit?

Causing undue little squables and fights.
Im not going to turn this into a she said/he said/they started it. But in my oppinion and Rikku's observations, Banites normally are the perpetrators, Hoar helps victims. So he counters perpetrations.

Most of the Gods are very agressive, or consider them at least proactive... Hoar is kind of unique among the militant type Gods. He is very much reactive (at least imho).

Also, consider the alliance with the EO and Lathender peoples. (which is very frail currently imho). Standing by while your allies enemy does things the ally doesnt approve of, is normally a bad thing for the treaty.

And to add, Hoarite dogma says something to the effect "Do good in the world, and in turn you shall reap good. Sow evil, and you shall be repayed with evil." Not necessarily saying that so called "good" acts are better than "evil", but it does show that there is a difference in the two in his view. Note, Good and Evil are both also not as likely to concern a Hoarite, imo. Replace them with the terms "Just" and "Unjust" and there you go. My Hoarite for instance will enact just as bloody a revenge upon a paladin as he would a blackguard should the actions deserve it.

It just so happens, and this is not to start the 1000th amian Banite debate, that in the eyes of Amia's Hoarite faction, the Banites seem to do relatively the most unprovoked stuff. Should the TK up and decide to start pressuring people to convert/worship by force or ban people from contested areas upon pain of death, I'm sure we would be just as much adverse to them. At least my Hoarite would.

Cosmological relationships are of no import to anyone but fluff.

If Amian mortal Hoar worshippers hate Amian mortal Banite worshippers, then it is so and it is glorious roleplay.

The question is tho as a faction do they? My Hoarite is on even terms with Banites, as in he's not out for their blood but he's not exactly cozying up to them either.

Fun fact: Back in the day, my Hoarite (very) secretely prayed to Bane as well as Hoar. His logic: Enforcing justice through divine vengeance is to rule with fear - fear of "just" vengeance, but stil! And Bane is the supreme divine entity of fear and tyranny. He viewed the Church of Bane on Amia as advocates of chaos rather than law, though, and such saw them as herectics or just odd-balls.

This is why he refered to good men, by his standards, as "god-fearing men". ;)

Anyways, just a trivial echo of a forgotten past this. Guess Hoarites and Banites could just as likely be friends or at each other's throats. RP is where that should be determined, IMO. So: Carry on!

I'm wondering whether Gorthod should appeal for vengeance to Rikku regarding the amount of times people have kicked him in the groin... that'll keep you hoarites busy for a while, amirite?

Depends. If he deserved it in the first place or not. Or perhaps he raped some woman along the way, or gave her stds, all the kicking in the groin for the rest of his life would be poetic justice.

It's very similar for the War Knights. While it looks like we are a good faction, we aren't. It's simply that to date the Banites on Amia have been acting in a manner that has caused Calin to take up arms against them. Otherwise we could swing one way or the other. Neutral gods that aren't nature gods are so fun.

I haven't read this whole post, however I will say I was interested in making a Hoarite blackguard for a long time, and even considered making a kind of knightly order around it big on ritual and "honor", but based on my experiences playing a good cleric just trying to deal, mostly peacefully no less, with even the most obvious and unrepentant evil-doers I'm not really sure Amia can handle a strongly vengeance-based type of play.

If there's still Hoarites out there thought I'm open to the possibility of being proven wrong on this point, particularly as I miss playing a "villain" character. It seems to be though you're going to have to try to do your revenge on mostly DM-run NPCs and not other players, unless you can work out some kind of deal with them beforehand (which apparently ruins things somehow for some people).

I rather like Hoar. I played a few before in PNP... My character, Glenn, wouldn't mind working with Hoarrans, provided that they are not entirely for the "revenge" aspect and cater more towards the "poetry" and "poetic irony" aspect. Then again, if he met any Hoarrans, he'd probably try to bring them closer towards the latter part of the deity's dogma.

All in all, an excellent God, but you don't need other Hoarrans to have fun with yours! Glenn is around. :)

There are other ways of gaining revenge then simply killing someone. Note Xal in the case of Qirlan.

Yep. My Hoarite in fact abstains from killing people when he can manage it. He'd much rather find a more appropriate method of punishment. Like the time this lady kept insulting Hoar. Casted Silence on her ^^.
