I'm sure theres been a topic with something like this before but when I do a search for it, it seems to bring up avery topic and it's mother so i'm starting a new one.

I'm formulating a thesis and a plan for a certain character. I need to know, what is the most common character class?

I see wayyyyyy to many wizards/sorcs.

Not sure about common, but one of the most uncommon that I've seen is Barbarian. I would put my bet of the most common on Wizzies/Sorcs, as has been said before.

Most Common = Rogue.

The sheer majority of builds have Rogue in them, whether it be as a primary class or merely to make that Wizard29 have a bit more AC.

how do i select shadow dancer? cuz there are a hella lot of them either that or weapon masters

Agreed. Everything from barbarians to paladins to wizards have 1d6 sneak attack.

Rogue, then Fighter, then "who cares" is the list as I see it.

Rogue, no question. It's not the most "played" class, per say, but it is the class that most people take for UMD and such.

I'm somewhat confused. Do you (Original Poster) mean "which class is used most in builds" or "which class do people take most levels in and RP the most?"

There's actually a crapload of barbarians surfacing (or resurfacing from the archivers) recently.

It's probably just my own experience, but I see a lot of bard sneaking into builds. Not the most RP'd build mind you, just one that I hear about more than a few builds having tucked away in a dark corner somewhere.

Umm... I suppose its more along the lines of 'which are used most in builds'.

Rogue. Almost every build has rogue in it for UMD / Tumble dump.

Yes, followed by fighter for feats/proficiencies.

I'd say:
rogue
fighter
bard

in that order.

weapon master is also very common as is shadow dancer and monk.

I'm not counting the prestige classes.

rogue definatly is the most common, even if it isn't rped...I've seen things from paladins with rogue levels, sorcerers with rogue levels, and even...rogues with rogue levels...rogue is the most common

Well, to be quite fair, rogues come in all shapes, sizes, and methods. It can be anything from a socially-slick fast-talker, to a down-and-dirty fighter, to a cunning opportunist.

Here's a totally unscientific survey of the base classes of people on AmiaA right now (counting characters multiple times):

Fighter: 16
Rogue: 12
Wizard: 8
Cleric: 6
Bard: 4
Monk: 4
Ranger: 4
Sorcerer: 3
Barbarian: 2
Paladin: 2
Druid: 1

Blackguards are rather common aswell. Just 3 levels mind you.

The rarest classes I would definatly say is Barbarian and Ranger, atleast used as main classes. I dont think I have seen a single character with more than 20 barbarian or 25 Ranger levels.

Everyone have rogues in their builds, just because rogues are awesome to multiclass with. There are very few, if any classes, that dont go well with rogue. And thats the point of rogues anyway.

This topic is pretty silly, to be honest. You want hard statistical data, yet you make a poll? 90% of people might say there are more people in Denmark than there are in China, but it doesn't make it so.

The question itself may be interesting and/or relevant, but the method by which you've chosen to collect the data is.. uh, nonsensical?

I have a character with 23 Barbie levels. Worst build I ever had. He was only worth anything in the Bareknuckle Brawls.

I would say it's more rare to see pure Fighter or pure Rogue builds, though I did have a 25 Fighter and a 21 Rogue back in the day.

I have seen a Fighter30 once though. Probably needs 4 screenpages to scroll down the feats.

I've only seen one full rogue, can't remember her name though...
She used to play with Alchas a lot...

I think Gillaria was pure rogue for a good while, before she went Rogue/Wiz/AA?

Do you mean Clasah, Belgian? She, too, rebuilt several times AFAIK, but probably was rogue at some point. I can't for the life of me remember the player's log-in, which is a shame because he was a great guy and fun to argue with. He and Alchas played together a lot.

Yep, Clasah was a pure Rogue. Then, if memory serves, went scimmy STR-Ranger, the DEX-Ranger, then STR-base Rogue24/Ftr6, which kicked like a %*&$£!@ing mule since she had a Purity.

Zeral was a pure rogue, I think.

I know, and I wondered if it was Disco or some other mean spirited DM on a drunken rampage who changed it. And i thought it was awesome. Then i discovered the thread about word filter, and it was not as cool anymore, but still funny. Now it only says 'censored', which just is boring.

I'll update it one day. I want to update it one day. But not today.

Well, my excuse is that I have only been here for two months, and during that time, I have not seen any of those I mentioned. And true, not pure rogue or fighter either. Pure classes in general are rare.

I play a pure rogue. >.>

We once discussed an idea of special benefits for pure class builds, but I think it got scrapped for some good reason somewhere along the way. Probably because some classes are cool as pure builds (bards), and others just make people sad (like ranger or rogue, I guess. Or Paladin, because you need that 1 level of either rogue or sorceror, naturally.)

She ended on a STR ranger 25/fighter 4/bard 1, iirc.

Pure Rogue here too. Well, never got past 28. But he's tough as nails and can tank the Abyss with a little support (and no shield).

Also got a pure Paladin around the same level and he's very much a strong character. You don't need to multiclass it. Especially not since CL is an important factor for a Pala, too.

You can get away with most pureclasses.

well now looking back on it thats why Alu was sucha monster back then.. people were sucky pure classes (so was Alu) I love seeing how amia changed.. I remeber a certain someone calling all of vandree powerbuilds with there pure clerics and sorcerers

these days it's all blackguard 2, rogue 2, bard 1, and weaponmaster 7 (FTL)

And who needs ranger levels past 1.

And I miss the pure-class days. Valafein used to be able to kick ass with his totally unplanned build! Those were the days.

Level 30 Paladin is hardcore status though.

How cute is that? Yossarin thinks that paladhooms are 29 Paladin/1 Sorc. :lol:

Of course, every paladin needs to take that one level of sorc for their own little pixie familiar.
