Recently I put in a request to play a Gnoll Blackguard and while not a complete savage himself his race is viewed as such and I'm very sure he's going to have a lot of trouble starting up. I am ready for it and am still behind my request 100% though I am worried about how because of his race he'll be cut off from SEVERAL near essential starting quests like the Cordor Courier, The Sewer Slime, and even the Goblins and Orcs as all are posted in Cordor and I'm sure it'd be much the same for Wiltun. Another concern I had was getting around, assuming I start at Kampo's (Given that's a choice.) and want to go to goblins the two routes I know are quite dangerous. Those are the cart and just walking, Taking the cart from Kampo's pops me in front of Bendir and that's likely to end up in a mess if there's any PC's around and not to mention the guards that should react to a gnolls' presence on their land, and then there's walking which takes me though part of the Nexus (in which I'd fully expect to probably be shot on sight by an elf) then though the woods that are full of mid level spiders and now PC rangers that would likely try to 'stop' me, and THEN though Bendir and that's just to try and get to goblins. I'm not asking for exceptions just suggestions or advice, This wouldn't just be for me but anyone who might eventually request a 'savage' race.

I wouldn't be too worried. Gnoll mercenaries are rare, but not completely unheard of. You probably won't be as accepted as a hobgoblin or even an ogre merc, but just the fact that you're not attacking people on sight would be enough to at least give them pause.

Well my friend, my drow hasn't done any of the dirty surfacer quests. He is currently banned from Cordor... by name... and that ain't easy to do considering even Lolthites are allowed in Cordor now.

Needless to say his reception has been less than amiable on the surface and since he got banned from the drow city... well pariah would be a good descriptor. And honestly, I don't make it easy for folks to like him since he's... drow. (condescending, elitist and all around bastard - which works ok in a drow city, not so much elsewhere). I can count the times things went to PVP on one hand in over 2 years due to the great RPers in Amia.

So, what did I do with all this hate for my poor misunderstood drow? RP'd! I can tell you that the Amia RP'ers will not disappoint you. I hope you don't view your character as having a handicap because they are gnollish and savage. It's actually going to make it amazing for you. Sure you'll have to work extra hard to gain any kind of trust from the locals. You'll be called names, chased off, threatened etc. And you know what that is? RP!

I'm not at all seeing it as a handicap, it's just a new experience!

I know it'll be exciting for sure I am just a bit (cautious?) because I just looked over majority of the ban lists and I haven't seen gnoll on any besides Winya (Due to their general ban against monster races.) I'm not sure if that's just because there haven't been many/any gnoll PC's or they were never really that much of a problem... (Though I think Kohlingen might have problems with them.) Even the dwarves with their long list doesn't have anything that points out a gnoll strangely enough. But regardless thanks for the advice and I hope to see you all in game soon enough.
