Lesser regard for life and a very bigoted personality. I am guessing LE would be more prone to convert through intimidation.

If I did make a Kelly what kind of Kelly would you be looking for? A monk? A dim witted patsy?

There isn't really one way to do that. There's quite a few ways and it is up to individual creativity. For example, there's what Silkelock suggested. Or the possibility that an evil Kelemvorite cherry picks the dogma in a certain way.

I mean, I could imagine a LE Kelemvorite who preaches the inescapable nature of death and how everything in life is fleeting...but also how tithing to the good works of the church is perhaps the only worthwhile thing the now fearful follower can do, and might even weight in significantly during the follower's judgment before the Lord of the Dead. And then the Kelemvorite spends that money in a way that is both self-gratifying and can be justified as a church-beneficial expense. When the Kelemvorite believes himself to be an agent of the church, that justifies just about any expenditure, mind.

We have the halls full of clerics so a paladin or a Divine Champion might reinforce the knightly order image nicely. We need model templars to set the bar.

You need a bard to compose eulogies and sing dirges. A retired old fighter who spends his days preparing for a good death. A disillusioned midwife who buries babies and does abortions so others don't have to. A deformed and depressed gravedigger and warden who talks to the dead because they don't mock him, and harbors a deathwish. A studious anthropologist interested to record the rites and practices of various cultures and so to improve the quality of Kelemvorite care for the dying and the follow-up services with his comparative data.

Well, I'll leave the build in the glorious hands of Ops because I am lazy.

Just look up the roster Iron listed there. Play whatever you want, but we sure as hell could use something a bit different to fragment the immersion of unflappable gloom every once in a while. It's boring as hell within the EO without the interaction of outside factions. "Hello Brother. Yet another glorious day to kill undead and people who summon those dusty old things. Oh, we're dusty and old, too. Yes, let's act like it." It's like roleplaying a retirement home.

But a brotip: Bard coughsputtercough.

We already have a bard, remember? I'm pretty sure Einar is a Bard/KC.

Back in ye olden days everyone and their dog wanted to be a grim and edgy inquisitor, and we were severely lacking plain old normal knights.

So, no more Inquisitors at least.

I had a character that I wanted to interact with the EO with (not join, no, but just interact with), but nobody was around at the time with any regularity. :( So I will be happy to see something going on there.

I'll play a young, enthusiastic squire, Gagis can ride him like a horse and make Robert jealous. I'd like to avoid the paladin class, I think.

Might also have to do with the majority of us being Europeans, thus our daily rhythms being hopelessly out of phase. I hope we've sparked enough interest to keep this going more or less round the clock, so we could cater to the needs of you filthy Amuricans as well.

Oh yeah, making Robert jealous is the second best thing ever, right after destroying Tarkuul.

Yeah, I could see just about any class working that can wear a passable uniform, preferably full plate, and march in formation.

I just want to point out that we have had weapon masters, bards, rogues, monks, archers, clerics, paladins, barbarians, wizards, a blackguard and our leader is a sorcerer.

Everything works: just stick to the 'interpreted' dogma and catch bad guys! The means doesn't really matter, right? As long as you remove unliving and those who create/cause or are in any way associated with unliving (The blackguard refrained from summoning Dead btw!)

I remember my attempt to build a different, but still conservative EO order and the PMs I got to let it be as it was. From old players, mostly. The same old players who tried to sabotage Icly and OOC my plans. If that was for the sake of the RP I trully don't know. But Templar Mikal is still around. He went missing after the Khem evento and I think Serenity (the only EO cleric at that time is also around). The last EO leader was Thannit (if memory serves me well).

We all remember well the rocks de got doing the past actions of the church. My toon was collecting evidences on that, but then that's all IC. But it was so intense I bet Ulrik would even deny water to a EO member!

In summary, best of luck. I would be glad to join again.

If there's a move to revitalize the Kellies, and still use the Khem facilities, I would be happy to DM for them. I've a lot of written story for the church that through one circumstance or another, have yet to come out.

(Though this is also an invitation for any other Nes'ek folk who happened to read this)

I'm glad there is a lot of interest in Kelemvor and his servants, but this content you mention is it going to be EO content or Kelemvor content? As the references are not necessarily interchangeable.

Its a Nes'ek focused campaign, detailing the numerous religious-political entities now in Nes'ek. So that includes the Chapel of Saint Elizabeth as a whole-- the Office of Illumination, the scholars, the priests, the laymen, and yes, the Eternal Order. I won't surrender too much detail just yet, but the idea is to get players to where the activity is. Just because the Chapel itself is currently in Khem, doesn't mean that the only activity will be there as well.

The Kelemvor plot is precisely that, a plot detailing around the Church of Kelemvor. The Eternal Order is included within that, but it is not the entirety either. In fact, the hope (Not just mine, but other EO players too) is that other aspects of the Church of Kelemvor will be represented by players as well.

Progress emphasizing this has been happening ICly for a short while now in Nes'ek. Its ready to be picked up again, and I'm enthused about providing regular to daily DMing for the crowd there.

Pfft, the EO was so much more into medieval spankings!

And who are the current Doomguides? Could someone point me in the right direction so I could pop them a message?

You can't be much more into medieval spankings than the Ultramarines or the Ordo Hereticus. The EO had it's own flavor and I don't mean to simplify what they were about, but thinking of them as Amian's versions of the Emperor's beefcakes was what I liked about them, even if only for my characters to find themselves at odds with them IC. :) They worshiped an (un)dying god, were grimdark, had one of the coolest looking bases in-game, collected banners from their wars/conquests, and were always quick to scream "heresy!" at Amia's mages. Good times.

I've seen the Doomguides around, but haven't gotten a feel for them yet. They seem a bit more laid-back than their precursors, but maybe they'll surprise us yet.

The Doomguides are as far from the EO in personality as you can get and still be Kelemvorite... they embrace -ALL- Kelemvor's Dogma equally, they spend as much time tracking down and gathering info on necros as they do finding out causes of hauntings..... we also sped time moving cemeteries in the most grisly fashion possible... March of the Dead! But all of us are personable and one thing we do not ever want to see that the EO left behind... Fear.. fear of death and Fear of Kelemvor... we work very hard to counter that..... in the beginning the EO had it right, its last year or so... it corrupted the original vision... and no Amia doesn't need it, but it still needs Kelemvor.

It's good to hear that the Doomguides have their own idea and image they're going after! But I wouldn't exactly write off the EO as deviating from the "right." It's like you say with your Doomguides, they're still Kelemvorite, just on the opposite end of the spectrum. It would have been interesting to see both factions exist on the same server. Heck, maybe in starting up the Kellies again, some will be inspired to dig up(lol grave puns) their old veterans and see how they fit into the revival.

People are often so concerned with getting the lore and the RP "right" with what we know OoCly, but intra-religion discrepancy is very worthwhile and interesting RP. If the EO could be as draconian as they were and these newer Doomguides can be as approachable(and less confrontational perhaps?) as they are, and Kelemvor himself still supplies them both with holy-juice, that's a lot of potential for IC action and reaction. Their god is the god of Death for millions of people. There are gonna be some differing opinions and butting of heads, you know? It would be a bit boring if there weren't.

Oh don't you worry, there is head butting inside the Doomguides, it just doesn't end up with torturing the loser of the argument. Just the RP of being different than the EO has been really interesting and exciting. You should join us!

I really like what I have seen of the current doomguides. A more compassionate approach to death as Kelemvor is more about than what the Eternal Order was.

As for a more grim side to Death, Jergal is the way to go ;)

I was told by a member when I approached them about joining with a character that they were not interested in accepting anything that didn't have paladin, cleric, or DC levels. Apparently Kelemvor has no laypriests or laypersons it seems.

My thoughts exactly! Also, the intra-religion discrepancy was never really seized as a seedbed of new and thrilling RP, because the the EO dominated and coerced other denominations of Kelemvorism, if not by direct force, at least by leaving them vastly under-represented. I plan on digging up my old Kellie to stir the pot.

TheLastDragonRider: Well pontificated, padre!

Fennewald and MightNMagic: We had many secular groups working in the EO. They were practically slave labour for the clergy, though. And yup, the Monk/Clerk combo is perfectly acceptable.

Considering my one character to ever meet Manson despised him... I think it'd be rather humorous to see how Serenity sees him, though she learned from the EO to hate them so I wouldn't hold your breath she'd hug him and give him flowers, 'cept maybe on his grave!

And the Doomguides are approved, was one of the things Hackums did when he was doing his plot "The Kelemvorite Intrigue" at the time though all the EO was NPCs, the Gray Watch recruited the few PC EO members to advise them (which they still do), since even former Grandmaster Mourngrym did not like what he was seeing from the EO when he returned from Ormath.

Personally, its taken a lot of time and effort to regain even the small amount of trust we've garnered after the devastation the EO left, and are still leaving, the trouble with an inter religion thing is that like it or not, Amia -WILL- lump all Kellies the same....... its an OOC fact, IC too... and we've only been able to do as much as we have -because- of the absence of the EO and we're still proving we're not them every single minute of every day we log in.

Fennewald and MightNMagic: We had many secular groups working in the EO. They were practically slave labour for the clergy, though. And yup, the Monk/Clerk combo is perfectly acceptable.

bs, I wasnt a slave to you clergies, the ordo mortuus was focused on a special task :P

If that's what you call carrying our loot, sure.

TheLastDragonRider: Yup, the mess we left for you to clean up sounds pretty great, actually.
