We decided while we will not be adding custom content for specific characters, we will be doing so for factions in the future.

The custom content faction package will include two hanging banners (one standard, one hanging at an angle), one shield (small, large or tower sized) and one cloak bearing the faction's sigil.

With having decided on a new way of implementing hak updates in the future, all faction related content will be in one small single hak. The big advantage of doing so is that we can update it every 4 months or so, and the playerbase will only need to download a single file for the update. This helps to ensure that the custom faction content will not become a burden on the playerbase, by having to download large sized updates over and over again.

When a faction would seize to exist for a lengthy period of time, their content will simply be replaced by that of a new faction. This allows us to keep it at a reasonable size, which is only fair to the rest of the community.

This will kick off as soon as the five current custom content projects I am working on near completion. Until then, there will still be quite a few details we will be hammering out.

Is it known which cloak model will support these emblems?

Do us faction leaders need to submit our sigil? O.o

Cloak models will be pretty broad, so likely almost all. Except special cloaks such as the plaid patterned one. It is shields that will be more restricted, depending on how easy they are to work with.

As for the sigils, you will be able to submit a sigil or simply let me know what it looks like, and we will take it from there. I will need to remake it in a programm for the work. That will all be explained when we get there, as there will be certain guidelines and restrictions. But you need not to worry about being good with photoshop, as that is why you have us.

As an extreme example, I will not to be able to work with a 1240x1240 sigil that consists of ten cows doing the the macarena because it is way too complicated for a simple banner and shield, nor will a faction be allowed to use a sigil that is Snoopy from the Peanuts because that would break immersion. Even if I as a beagle owner, would mabey let Snoopy slide. :wink:

This is just a heads up of what will come in the future. It is still quite a bit of time away, likely three or four months.

Of course not. It would be sheer insanity to not to allow that. The cows doing the cha cha is very fitting for Amia, while them doing the macarena obviously is just silly.

Alright folks, I will be starting with this, as I am finishing up my work on the banners.

If you have a faction that is offically regognized as one by the DM team (this means one that has become eligible for a faction forum or faction base) we can start working with you on this. Right now this will only go for the banners, but down the road the other content such as shields and cloaks should become available. The details for the request to get this I will post in a few days.

If you are not sure if you are officially regognized as a faction, please sort that out with the DM team before hand. If you are unsure what is required to be officially regognized, there is a topic about it in the rules and lore forum (I believe) or else just poke a friendly DM near you.

Best way is for you to send me a pm describing what you want your banner to be like. We will take it from there.

I dont know about other cities, but Winya never really identified to me as a faction. So my question is can Cities apply to have banners made? I have sort of been pitching the green elk over shield and cross swords as our banner, but if we could brainstorm up a right proper elfy banner, is that something you, or the team, would consider allowing?

Cities can have banners made. I already made them for a number of banners, and asked for the DMs/players of Winya to come up with something a few times before. So yes, if you brainstorm up a elfy banner, it is something I would add.

I believe Magiros came up with a Winya crest a while back, and was going to provide me with a drawing of it- although I think that was forgotten about.

But I really liked the description of the crest you gave me, Mags, and you should totally bring it up here.

For Winya I just need to have a draft or a detailed description of what you want to see. They have the benefit of being a settlement.

For any other faction, you need to get DM permission first.

PM'd Magiros about the sigil, and if they don't happen to find this thread or the PM, I have other resources I can utilize. I only have a vague description of the sigil, but I can try to flesh it out- if Magiros isn't against that.

Do you have a deadline you'd like to have the first faction/settlement package completed by, Pony?

The placeable hak release is drawing pretty near. It is currently in testing, and I am slowly checking off the list of last minute requests that were tossed my way and for Polris to wrap up his custom content addition for it. I am actually hoping early january at the latest.

The faction hak pack will be a small additional hak file that will be released down the line. There has not yet been a date set, but it can be updated very easy. We will be able to release it and update it anytime we have enough new content to warrent it.

Edit: I would say one week for it to be included in the placeable.hak. Else, it will need to be tossed into the faction.hak that will likely see the release earliest in march.

Something similar, yes. The actual design will be handled by the developer team of the server. We will work with your design proposal, but please do not do the actual custom content yourself.

I currently swamped with the work on the placeable hak. Once that gets done, as well as a few much smaller projects I want to wrap, I will get back to this. If I forget about this, just poke me about it at end of January.

To quickly explain; Winya goes into the placeable.hak because it is a settlement. The content for the amian chess federation (which I assume is the name of your faction) will be going into the faction.hak. I will be making a more sensible, structured topic with how to properly request this all and what can be requested specifically around January / February.
