I would like to know the process to begin process to attempt to upgrade the black guard summon. Do I ask a dm to begin this process or just start. I ask as i play very odd times of the day usually late night US Central time and mainly in the underdark. I have no ideal how to begin. I can give details as to what I already know in character if to someone.

It's openly vague for a reason, allowing the various player interpretations of how they want or can improve their servant to be played out how they want.
As with any divine class, you should start with asking your patron fiend what you should do to get a better summon (aka: PM a DM)

Or do you mean acquiring the Book of Vile Rituals for the proper Epic Fiend Servant? If so, you should contact a DM, via request or PM or such. At least in the past a DM would make something of a personalized event where you have a chance of acquiring the book. One of my several Blackguards, for example, stalked, ambushed, intercepted and murdered a master Monk delivering such book to be destroyed, and tore the book from the hands of the dying monk, who to his last breath begged him not to read the book for the sake of his soul. It was kinda dramatic and satisfying.

Of that I have no idea, maybe someone from the DM team could comment?

If it's an Underdark character, I think your best bet would be DustSpray101 seeing as they DM the Underdark.

don't want to create a new topic so i'm going to put this here. What is the deal with the Aura of despair skill? What I mean is the visual has been taken away right? What I don't see is the aura working at all i activate it and the widget pops as if it's working but i haven't seen a roll for it, nor have I seen it actually work. I'm going to test it on some low level mobs and see if it's just not rolling high enough to actually work and will post an update here

The aura works. ALL visuals have bene removed.
So it's there but you can't see if someone gets hit by it.
There sadly is no real way to make it "visible" that its up without making it well.. visible and meta-gaming potential which is why it was asked to be removed to begin with.
So I already asked seems its an all or nothing deal.
Either you see it and people might use/abuse it. Or you can't and then see nothing but its still working.

Update: okay i have recently tested the Aura widget on some Phearlocks, and it doesn't seem to be working at all, it says activated special item, but then nothing happens after that.

it does. When an enemy enters the "circle" the penalties apply. It just has no visual. Test it with a hostile buddy.
