Was not sure where to put this, but I just wanted to warn all those parties used to the Spires that its had a serious buff now, approach with caution

Spoilers would be me documenting just what has been changed and listing it here, but I am not going to do that

I just think it's great that the fire elementals have stopped looking so ridiculously silly.

See, I wouldn't warn people. I would, however, camp out just inside the Spires, and watch people get creamed.
Then again, I'm kind of an evil bastard.

I can tell you they are certainly DARK spires now....the elementals look very good. All in all, its a massive upping of power.
I know we got pasted to the walls whereas before we could manage it in the 18-23 range.
I wouldn't recommend that now.

I have to agree.. almost impossible for the old level range and people to level up there.

Some of it may need to be toned down a littlebit, mostly the Elder Fire Elementals

Well, I love the new look but there are some serious attacks now that in a group just wipe you out. No spoilers here though.

Blergh, I'd have preferred to not have read all this, the server update announcement was enough. There's no actual spoilers, but it's still spoiler-ish for people -_-
In any case, as long as it's less than or close to the difficulty of the flayers then leave it. The usual progression (XP-wise) is spires > flayers > Abyss. So as long as it's not face-pwning everyone and they just go to other places instead for their level then who cares?
Cause, you know, everyone used spires to whore xp lol

I always saw the spires for the low level epic levelling area, (21-24 or roughly so), now im hearing hunting the Abyss or Actand is easier than the spires

Can't say I'm terribly happy with making the leveling curve even more difficult. *sighs*

Hahaha, clearly I am missing a great show. I need to log in and camp out there to observe the carnage.

Ninja, leveling is ridiculously easy on Amia comparatively with hardcore. This coming from someone who sucks at leveling and doesn't even care about it much.

I'm looking forward to actually getting there and trying it out we need some areas where parties are required... I'm gonna have a guess a mage can still solo the place though

Perhaps "difficult" isn't the right word. It might be "easy" but I don't find it particularly streamlined, dynamic or intuitive, and thus it's more of a chore than a fun game. I still don't have a max level character because there's not much logical flow to the game world from a design standpoint. A comprehensive quest system that at the very least provides a token amount of XP and directs characters to the appropriate areas through the entire level range would go a long way to helping alleviate that. I think the current system of having to explore just to find the bloody quests (which usually don't give you very precise directions either once you find the damn things) is hugely flawed from a game design standpoint. I've argued this all out before, though.

I'd fall asleep hunting spires, but now we need to actually be thinking about what we do there instead of run, click, kill then run again.

I agree about the thread, I'm just in a cranky mood. Don't mean to ruffle feathers.

I didn't know we played on Amia so we can fight challenging monsters. I sure as hell don't.

I made this thread so lower level peeps would have a headsup, its served its purpose. Would a DM lock this please before it degenerates.
Thank you

Yeah, sorry, can't keep my mouth shut at the moment after all. If I wanted to raid I'd play WoW, but I think a page could be taken out out their design book. There's never any doubt on where to go or what to do next. I'd rather have a moderately challenging but a streamlined play experience over a patchwork leveling system where it's "easy" if you know the module like the back of your hand but are SOL if you don't. If the Spires are now group-only, where does the bracket hunt that was previously served by the spires?
