Not but a few days past did a grey haired man walk into the cathedral. Wearing a black and white surcoat adorned with holy symbols displayed like military honours, a two-handed sword strapped on his back looking as if it has seen as many years of service as the man who wields it. He walks through the middle of the rows of benches walking towards the altar. Standing firmly at attention once he reaches the altar, he draws his two handed sword and facing the blade downwards he kneels, standing the sword up in front of him as he bows his head and prays. Then falls silent.

A further minute of silence passes as he raises his head, standing back up grabbing his sword by the hilt and strapping it to his back again. He bows his head to Father Merryhill and then turns to depart.

It would seem this happens on a regular basis, anyone paying attention will notice he repeats this sequence at both dawn and dusk, before his meals.

some may notice he has taken up residency in the barracks...

Val, having paused at the entrance of the Cathedral to dip a finger into the holy water and make the sign of the scales, clomps into the main room. His heavy boots are not very quiet so when he sees the man in prayer, he pauses. Then like a child attempting to get away unseen and unheard he begins to tip toe. His well-muscled arms are out stretched to keep his balance since tip toeing in heavy armor is not easy. He pauses as he passes the nuns and gives them a broad smile and a polite nod. Then he continues his way to the stairs.

Up in the barracks the only indication that Val has been there would be a little bag of figs with a note proclaiming “Welcome” for Richard. And that all the empty beds are now neatly made with hospital corners.

On one of her many comings and goings from the Cathedral as she does her habitual candle lightings four times a day, a young squire would note the older man's devotion. Her thoughts turn to a couple days before when she first found him in the Cathedral and, after a short conversation, found he had no place to stay. She offered him the hospitality of the Cathedral's dorm and the two very basic meals a day provided by the staff, which she had thought fitting for a brother in the faith, much more so than the sands of Nes'sk.

With his presence now known, he continues his daily routine. Only after his morning meals is he absent from the chapel for any length of time from hours, to days away before he returns.

His last return brought with him thread and sewing needle. Skipping his evening meal, he confides into the barracks and works on his surcoat. Quietly eating from a small bag of figs, sewing on to his surcoat would be the crest of the chapter. Which, by sundown is exquisitely finished. Wearing it proudly he conducts his prayers and then rests for the night..

After conversing with Edmund in the presence of Sister O'Shea, Chapter Marshal Tannith would make it known that she would wish any available faithfull to join her and the prospective Novice to Darkhold, to bear witness to Mr Edmund's devotion and ability, after which, if he is deemed suitable, all would be welcome in the ascension of Mr Edmund to the rank of Novice.

Also invited are any other prospective hopefulls.
