With all due respect, this is a decision that cannot be settled simply by one party's feelings or word alone. It requires consent from all others as well that will be greatly affected by it.

To my knowledge, this is a decision Missus made alone. And if not, it is one she either concealed from the rest of us or simply never felt like disclosing.

I could argue by comparing this to another individual who may also deserve such an opportunity: Kurchin. A kobold who has offered his aid countless times, been beyond peaceful, spent a great deal of time with us, and not once brought harm or turmoil to the town. But simply because I and the majority feel this way or express positive feelings about it, it does not automatically make it a right to grant such a privilege. We cannot neglect our gnome residents in the town, as well as those who feel uncomfortable with kobolds.

It is one thing to like or favor an individual due to his or her past records with our society, but it's a completely different matter to make him or her a citizen. The majority of the people I have spoken to were not comfortable with Missus' decision, our militia captain included. I acknowledge Beldor's deeds in the past and the bonds he may have created with Bendir Dale. However, those alliances and bonds were made with people who have long since moved on or parted ways from us. We no longer live in the past. We have new people. We have new views and voices. And we cannot neglect them.

Much like other policies undone by preceding mayors in the past, be it from General Nof's move to restore hin values to the town during his term to Missus' undoing of Laurel's, this is no different. The repeal of Beldor's citizenship stands. In addition, his refusal to cooperate highlight his sense of entitlement, regardless of citizenship, and only hurt other drow who are patiently waiting and have peacefully complied.

*A second note is sent by a human courier, bearing the trappings of a young scholar, likely from the Triumvir. It is, like the last, posted near the Law Sign. A copy is also left just south of Dale along the roadside and one at Kampo's notice board.*

Mayor Serena,

I am not refusing to comply. I am waiting for my concerns to be addressed, that I might have faith in complying. You ask for suggestions and questions, then fail to answer them and have them removed. I have no delusions that this public correspondence shall last much longer in proximity to the Dale, but there are those who shall see it before it is removed, those who shall see it elsewhere, and those who shall hear it by word-of-mouth by the very Elders I have already spoken to. I would say, in fact, that I am doing what I do on behalf of these other Drow and other citizens you claim to speak for. I am making no claims of entitlement, nor have I ever.

I am holding the Mayor of the Dale to her own words, and for that, I shall not apologize. I encourage the good people of the Dale to do the same, before their long-time allies, Drow or otherwise, are further alienated. There is no reason you cannot conduct these interviews as the individuals present themselves. Waiting until all are collected seems merely a reason to deny all those who turn them in, indefinitely. Many of the individuals listed there are quite elusive, so it may be months before they are heard from. Even then, there is no guarantee of when these "interviews" shall begin after the insignia are collected; who is to say that once in possession of them all, you shall elect to not conduct a means of regaining them? I am not the only one with this concern, and I am not the only one waiting to return my insignia for this very reason, I imagine.

Not only does a quick-turn around (return an insignia, interview then and there to see if it is returned) allow you validate just who is worthy of the privilege quicker, it encourages those who now hold them to bring them in, under the faith that whatever the outcome, it shall be expedient, transparent, and fair. If the validation of permitted persons is truly your concern, time-tested Hin-sense tells one to make hay while its daylight out. One does not let apples rot on the tree, simply because others have yet to turn red. Even if this path is not feasible, a simple, civil response to the suggestion would at least clarify your motives to those only more off-put by your budding heavy-handedness.

When you allay these concerns about your method, my insignia along with many others will be tendered in full, with graceful thanks to the Dale's new leader. All the same, I fully intend to cooperate with the Dale's lawfully, democratically-elected champion. But in all honesty, it's hard to have faith in someone who has shown herself as nothing but snidely bigoted in-person and unduly domineering in print. This correspondence, this concern, and these suggestions are not rooted in "entitlement." They are rooted in a deeply-held pride in the Dale and a knowledge of what it is capable of. It falls upon you as its leader to live up to that expectation, not on behalf of thankful guests like me, but on behalf of the very people you claim to represent and those who held this office before you. Whether you choose to seek a consensus or continue down your own path, hark well; your actions will be remembered.

Laurel looks at the long ramble of nonsense and takes down the one near the law board and the one on the road. The middle aged hin looks extremely puzzled why Beldor continues to insist on posting in inappropriate places, but does not seem to have a problem with him voicing his opinion itself as she leaves the one on Kampo's notice board alone.

The young woman ignored the strange looks and stares and proceeds to pass on her gratitude to Merin.

Please be on the lookout for a female drow by the name of Ginafae. Kindly relay to the woman that I wish to speak to her at her earliest convenience. I have also added another lovely individual who has been helpful in the past to collect insignias.

Okay, folks. I'll give dates, and we can choose the best out of the two. The two days I can hold this despite me working all week are Monday or Friday--Monday w/o letting it drag into the holiday or Friday after it. The time would be (3PM PST/5PM CST/6PM EST).

Dear Bendir Dale,

Our first meeting was a success, and many ideas and concerns were discussed. For those of you unable to attend, I am happy to announce the few upcoming changes to our town.

Deputy Mayor

Congratulations to Bendir Dale's talented--and beautiful, if I may add--angel, Kira Cottonfoot. Not simply a beloved friend, she is also a trustworthy, kind, and wise person. Her knowledge and talent will help us guide the town to a better future.

Law Board

An irritating issue in the past, our laws have undergone minor to considerable changes that will help clarify to both our guests and residents. The revised and finished laws will be posted soon for all to see before moving them to their rightful home outside the gates.

Residents' Council

An innovating idea, this small group will be made up of key and normal citizens responsible for discussing the many struggles our town may come across in the future. More information on this will be posted soon, including its structure and personnel.

A burned Halfling corpse is found near the Amian frontier, thrown into the bushes as if to hide a crime. Those who inspect it on the spot/if it's moved notice the following:

-The body is female.
-Three stab wounds to the abdomen.
-The burns were inflicted post-mortem.
-Many of the clothes have been burned to the skin, however the tattered remains of Yondalla's cloak is snagged on the bush the body is found in.
-The incident seemed to have happened over 24 hours before the body's discovery.

-Those who have seen her often enough to tell what she looks like will realize the body is Dian Sourfold.

-Any Resurrection attempts do not appear to work, the body's soul simply does not respond.

And lastly

-In one of the stab wounds, embedded in to the body, a piece of a dagger is found broken and lodged in her lower rib. It is made from Shadesteel.

Souris would be seen along with the other hins at the graveyard. Her expression uncharacteristically grim. With the initial examination of the corpse completed, Souris would take the piece of shadesteel found in her wounds as evidence.

Said hins did their best to avoid unwanted attention, from discovering the body to transporting it their town's graveyard.

Despite the grim and gruesome state of the fallen woman, Serena kept an attentively blank expression. A deep frown tugged at her lips only after realizing Dian would not answer to her calls, more so when Souris and Merin displayed signs of mourning.

After the red-clad girl took the dagger piece, the blond halfling hefted the body over her shoulder and headed down towards the carts, making sure not to stop or glance at the usual travelers that loitered around. Her initial destination was adjusted, however, as Serena suddenly decided to stop at the Salandran Temple instead.

Word would also be left to inform other authoritative members.

A report is roughly drafted up and left on the Mayors desk to document events so far.

Former militiaman Bobrin discovered a Hin body in the Amian frontier. Examination found stab wounds and severe burns. Identity of the victim confirmed by Mayor Serena Voi as Bendir resident, Dian Sourfold. A fragment from a shadowscape weapon was found embedded in one of the wounds. Body to be interred until Laurel Beestinger can be located to perform a raising ritual. Councilwoman Souris has been assigned the task of tracking down the murderer.

Dian's Turfhouse remains unlocked, not an oddity as such due to the lack of others who visited her, however the inside contents seem off for someone like Dian.

In her house stand four large bookshelves, containing a subsection of information each, those being:

-Bendir Dale's history and events documented
-Family tree and family history
-Holy books and rites about Yondalla and the Hin Pantheon
-Journals written by 'Marisa Underfoot'

In fact, a severe lack of information about Dian is seen around the house. Books in the family tree are to do with the Underfoot family, many of the Holy books have gathered dust and Bendir Dale's history books are scattered on the floor.

Prominent to the house is Dian's bedroom, are several items of notice:

-A note labeled: "Mother and Father - Number 18 Herald Way, Dhedluk, Cormyr."
-A bed ruffled and unkept.
-A painting of Yondalla's Cornucopia on the wall.
-A fresh journal with the name Marisa Underfoot on it. It only has one paged filled in:

"6th Marpenoth;

Dear Diary. I have filled another of you up and begin this one anew. It seems I start this one off with sour taste in my mouth.

Whilst talking with some of Bendir's regulars, a man joined in our conversations talking about The Lurking Lord. Surprised by this sudden interjection, I asked why one who served such a deity would simply reveal themselves supporting it in front of random people.

He was rather creepy I tell you diary! All he said after was "Nothing random about you, my dear." and walked towards the carts to Kampo's! Gee, what a weirdo!

I've still not been feeling well, and I've not been a very good Knight at all, I lied again recently. I told Rosary that I wasn't [SEVERAL SENTENCES SCRIBBLED OUT].

Nevermind, they'll know soon. I may not be performing my roles with utmost honour but the Dale seem happy, but I am a coax of lies over a seemingly innocent person.

Maybe I'm depressed, most likely due to not seeing Adrien for a while.

That'd make me happy.

I think I'll visit Father soon, with Mother passing away I feel bad for leaving my family.

In fact I feel rather alone in a community that struggles to incorporate privacy, how ironic!

It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that our friend and stalwart Knight of the Provider, Dian Sourfold, has passed away. A memorial service to celebrate her life and mourn her passing is to be held for her in the coming days, at the Bendir cemetery. Some words will be spoken by those closest to her, with food and refreshments offered at the Hinn Inn afterwards. Everyone is of course encouraged to attend, to pay their respects.

With a small, weak smile, Serena nods her approval of the notice, moving shortly afterwards to arrange for any preparations needed for the upcoming day.

In the early hours of the morning, A Halfling wearing clerical robes dedicated to Yondalla leaves Bendir Dale. He carries with him a fair few bags more to which he arrived, though not enough to overburden him.

As he departs on the cart, a gentle wind blows across the Graveyard. An uncomfortable silence as Ritty tends to the graves.
