A rather crude piece of parchment is stuck onto the noticeboard (Or Gate, if there isn't one).
Hello, Hinfolk! I'm looking for the high up of this village, either Johanna or someone else? I don't know, if the leader/leaders/angry mob is interested in contacting me messages left at Ralten's Retreat (Which is in Endir's Point) will reach me.
Stay lovely, believe well and remain short - Gorthod.

For a short time there was a group of visitors, mostly Dalesfolk, as well as another Gnome, a human and a Drow visiting the Crystal known as Dicho's Shrine.
Shortly after , they return down from the hill, having completed their business. After they left, a multi-coloured hemisphere warded the Crystal, completely obscuring it from view.

Prescia? Treasurer?
You're bleeding kidding me. That girl buddies up with The Horsemen and harvests organs from recently deceased humanoids - I've seen her doing both, and I know there are others who can back me up. Who knows what else her morally depraved self does. That fucking traitor should not be given a position of government.
I vote a vehement no.

Good Captain Torrowfire,
The faction known as the Horsemen have treated me with respect and friendship and in return I do the same. I prefer to establish good relations with those who extend their olive branch. But if there are those who like to maintain that the friend of their enemy is also their enemy, then that is their mindset, and there is nothing I can do to change that. I have spoken to Captains Lyle and Nina, as well as Horseman General Rose Da'lorn and separate occasions. Both parties have indicated to me that they are open to meet for talks to clear up any misunderstandings or differences.
With regards to harvesting parts, indeed I had collected some bile from the recently deceased on one occasion. Bile, as we know, is a fat emulsifying agent. Humanoid bile was chosen because of compatibility and was to be used as a component for a fat-reducing potion for humanoids. Potion brewing is neither necromancy nor black magic. Though I would like to point out the Forest Witch has been brewing necromantic Death Armor potions as far as I know, and not even the druids have a problem with her.
I would also like to add that the bile was taken from a huge corpse pile slain Urdlen worshippers. Gnomes who were wantonly slaughtered by a group of people who barricaded the Formian Hive. Both you and I had a hand in their deaths, Captain Torrowfire. Killings like these happen every single minute on these isles. Blood is on all our hands and there is nothing noble nor righteous about it.
I do not believe either of these events constitute as treason towards the township of Bendir Dale.

Prescia,
You befriend murderers and thugs. The point still stands. If Captain Lyam and Captain Nina are so eager to do the same, it seems I'll need to re-evaluate my standing with them and judge if I truly want to stand with them.
And no one deserves to have their bodies mutilated upon their death. Not Banites, or goblins or anything. I still cast this as a bad trait for you. White wash all you wish, my statements remain firmly planted in the negative, Prescia.

While going into the Town Hall, Tuomas blinks and reads this.
He then asks Tak Rosen if he'd be permitted to offer words on the subject, in spite of not being a citizen of the Dale.

Good Citizens of the Dale,
I am Prescia Gemfinder, a resident of the Dale for nearly 9 seasons. Most of you may know me in some way or another, for good or for bad. Nobody is perfect. I have never aspired to be involved in politics or to run for any office. As a woman with little martial prowess, I have never been fit enough to serve in the militia.
But with the election of Mayor Johanna Hardingdale, we are starting to shift towards a more open form of government. The office of Dale Treasurer sits vacant for nearly 2 seasons now, I believe the time has come for me to serve my public duty to our Dale.
If elected, I promise openness, honesty and integrity in office. Management of the funds will always, first and foremost, be in the interests of the people and our town.
I will also propose to the Mayor the following: - Our reserve and expenditure figures will be made available at the town hall to all residents of the Dale. Why? Because these are public funds, and as citizens of the Dale, you have a right to know where your money is and where it is going to.
- Integration and Management of the Adventurer's Fund. Why? There sits a large sum of money that no one knows exists and no one knows how to claim. Looking after our own has always been part of Dale spirit, so let's put this part back into gear.
- Fundraising and Upgrading Projects Why? Because it's important to save for a rainy day. Also because the underground cave will eventually be excavated and more funds will have to be channeled to make it inhabitable.
Office and Private life will be kept separate. Should I prove to be unfit for office at any point in time, the Mayor is empowered to remove me, at her discretion.

*seeing the argument within the first few notices, Nina decides it best to set the record straight as to where the loyalties of the Captains of the Irregulars lay*
To clarify for all parties involved, Co-Captain Lyam and myself, while open to civil conversations and preferring peaceful solutions over ones that end in drawn steel and hostilities, as is to expected of any goodly Hin, are by no means willing to embrace the Horsemen as trusted allies nor use a phrase as strong as to call them friends of the Dale. Friendship is a term that is earned, not given freely without scrutiny. For those that may not know, up until fairly recent history, the Horsemen were hailed as one of the greater evils that this island has ever known. Their willingness to change their public image, while intriguing, does not necessarily mean that their former goals and aspirations have changed which is something we must be absolutely certain of without reason of a doubt before moving forwards in relations with them.
The present stance of the Dale governing the Horsemen is that, until we can be certain of their intentions with regards to the Dale and sort out the growing reports of misunderstandings that they seem to have in regard to our laws, any future business ventures will not take place within Town Walls. While we will tolerate them using our lands for travel, know that we oppose their enforcement of what they call "Horseman Law" via barricades on the public road, as well as their practice of camping for extended periods of time on Bendir Lands without consent. Furthermore, Captain Lyam has been looking into the rumors that one of the Horsemen has taken up unlawful residence within the Dale. Any citizens that may know more are invited to come forth and speak with him on the matter. That is all.
Good luck to any applying for the position of Treasurer in the coming elections!
Inner Warmth, ~Nina Thorrow-Meadowlark Co-Captain of the Irregulars

Regarding Miss Prescia as Treasurer of the Dale, I have but the following considerations to offer:
1) She is a very apt businesswoman, her vast wealth can attest to this. However, being a very apt businesswoman and also Treasurer of the Dale is a cause for concern at the same time. She could readily make use of the mixture of both her wealth, and her position as Treasurer to place Bendir Dale in a great position Economically.
However, by the same token it has to be considered, she could in all practicality 'BUY' Bendir Dale making use of her position as Treasurer combined with her wealth. Therefore, my own recommendation were she to indeed gain such a post, would be to compel her to cease her personal business dealings while in the post of Treasurer.
2) Continuant to her points as a businesswoman, she has demonstrated a great willingness to throw her vast amounts of wealth into the purchase of high quality armament and raiment that is on auction. To such an extent that a good deal of the island may have difficulty competing as a result, and to what end would she be purchasing this armament and raiment? To sell herself, to provide others, or to hoard? I cannot answer these questions with any certainty but these are questions that need to be asked if she's indeed to become the Treasurer for Bendir Dale.
Admittedly I have seen her carry out some sales of such in past but still, a question remains if she'd continue to be doing so for the Dale's benefit solely, and not her own.
3) Given her proposal to re-open and activate the Adventurer's Fund, I ask an interesting query:
What has she done to contribute to it? What have her past contributions been to the Dale in the form of donations to this Adventurer's Fund or to the recent rebuilding? While I imagine she has, I'm just academically curious what she's contributed compared to her personal funds at disposal.
4) If indeed she has shown a willingness to deal with the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a group which to my understanding may well not show any respect to the local law and whom has taken a more then unhealthy interest in this region of late , it may be wise of us to be certain of the extent of her dealings with them and just how far connected she and they are.
These points all need to be considered before Miss Prescia should be made Treasurer in my humble opinion.

*The following message is tacked up near the others. The handwriting is elegant and uniform, and the paper is plain. No signature is offered aside from a simple ornate "M"*
Bendir Dale Council,
My response to this application in short: No.
Some of you may see fit to stop there. For the benefit of those for whom this is not the case, I'll continue.
My response to this application in detail: Common sense will tell you that approving this application would not be wise for the welfare of Bendir. While it is true that Miss Gemfinder is an accomplished businesswoman who has amassed quite a substantial amount of wealth, one must look past her base credentials.
In this particular case, I refer to her now publicized dealings with the group known as the "Horsemen of the Apocalypse". Sounds like a wholesome bunch, doesn't it? Through personal investigations of my own and through word of mouth, despite their assertions of their desire to "change their image" and protect, I have no reason to believe that they'll be turning over any new leaves. One must simply glance at their past, as well as the botched past of any of Amia's many colorful villainous groups to see a common trend in attempting to gain anonymity and cover for their true intentions by painting over them a mural of good will and friendliness. Was it so long ago that Audrey the Banite was using this same ploy to have her ban from Bendir lifted so that she could gain entrance to the town? Did she not ultimately prove to be nothing but a liar intent on spying and ultimately destroying Bendir Dale? I do not mean to imply here that the Horsemen's sole intention is to destroy Bendir, necessarily, as they have no reason to. However, it would be rather convenient for them to gain a position of friendship or at least some standing above neutrality with the ranking officials of the town so that they could more easily establish their "checkpoints" or whatever it is they're calling them these days, for whatever purpose, under the guise of Bendir's safety being the primary concern.
Now, how does this in any way relate to the matter of Miss Gemfinder's bid for the position of treasurer? Simple. Miss Gemfinder has already demonstrated an openness and acceptance of their views. If Miss Gemfinder, a known non-hostile or "sympathizer", if you will, of the Horsemen's is elected into any position of government, however inconsequential, we may as well be opening the door for the Horsemen to stick their feet in. Any means of having their names or agendas appear, even briefly, in a council meeting or otherwise, is a victory for them. Do you truly believe that the word of the treasurer, as an elected position, will be any different to their ears than the word of the mayor herself? Doubtful.
While I hold no personal grudges or the like against Miss Gemfinder, aside from her apparent lack of character judgment and somewhat naive stance of "they're nice to me, I'm nice to them" in regards to known criminals who refer to each other as "Death", "Pestilence" and "Legion" (Charming names, aren't they? They just scream "let's be friends"...), I must urge the council and the citizens of Bendir Dale to consider these factors critically before making a decision. While she is certainly qualified for the position, one has to consider where her interests lie; With the best interests of Bendir Dale, or with her murdering psychotic acquaintances?
Regards, ~M~

Dear Mr Tuomas,
1. As mentioned in my previous statement. I propose public funds to be put on public record. There is to be a very thick and bold line to be drawn between state and personal resources. I would like to highlight that any person who has held office was never required to relinquish their personal investments. Captains Torrowfire, Swift and Treasurer Madock all continued their interests as partners of the ACTF.
2. The role of treasurer is a facilitator and administrator of state funds, not risk investment management. Bendir Dale does not have a Sovereign Investment Fund. Unless the Mayor or Council decides to create one, the treasurer is not empowered to spend public funds on acquisitions. Again, I would like to reiterate the point that a line is to be drawn between state and personal resources.
3. I have contributed on occasion, when the fund was active, and I have contributed recently, as Mayor Hardingdale can attest. If you wish to enquire the ratio of contribution against personal funds, I can say, it is a modest figure. While I can certainly throw massive sums of money into the fund and for building, we need to ask first, is there a requirement? When I asked the former administration if the town required more funds for reconstruction, the answer was that we had enough. Indeed, what would a large excess serve, when the coffers are healthy, not empty. It would, however, surely bring accusations of what you suggested; that I would be trying the "BUY" the town with through capital investment.
4. When it comes to interpersonal relations, I treat each and every person as an individual. I do not hold myself bound to high and mighty ideals, divine dogma or racial prejudice when it comes to making a friend. I know there are some people who have the kindergarten mentality of the friend of my enemy is also my enemy. I am not a follower of that line of thought and believe that any individual is neutral until proven otherwise.
However, the subject of Horsemen as a faction is a matter that concerns the state. Security and jurisdiction are under the realm of our Militia Captains. Both parties have agreed in principle to open talks to any issues that need resolving. I will stand neutral on this matter, until the said issues are resolved.

*copies a couple of carefully selected lines from Prescia's notice onto her own added note, and then adds her own comments below them* Quote: ....as citizens of the Dale, you have a right to know where your money is and where it is going to.
......There sits a large sum of money that no one knows exists and no one knows how to claim.
It's not right that you seem to be implying wrongdoing here, and it's not really as you say, I don't think.
It won't help your popularity in this vote, you know.

While tending the orchard just outside the walls, a male hin came up and started talking to me. I've recognized him before in the forest, heard him called Ross once or twice. I bring this up because while I was tending the orchard, he told me to send my animal companion away, that it was supposedly scaring others. I told him I was in perfect compliance with the Bendir Dale laws, and if he didn't believe such he should re-read them. He ignored this, and after a few minutes of him telling me the same over and over, I just stopped talking and continued tending the orchards. He then used a word of faith spell to try and banish my friend, but seeing as bendir is right against the forest, and the forest is his home, the spell failed. I told Ross once more to re-read the laws, and even recited word for word "Law VIII: Animal companions and familiars are allowed, but only if they are not fiends, undead or any other evil creature. Killing a companion not banned by the law counts as assault against the owner." However he still ignored and then cast an implosion, killing my friend. Instead of attacking him as my gut instinct was to do, I immediately went to the gates and wrote this report.

Briar stops in front of the notices again, and when she sees this last addition, she freezes like a deer before a predator and looks from side to side to see if she can see anyone standing nearby who might have nominated her.
She quickly draws a line through her name, scribbling back and forth a few times for emphasis.

Sally, there is a lack of management and openness in the old system. While the fund is all donations by people who wanted to give, it's not getting to the target audience, because of lack of access and publicity. Perhaps when Mayor Jo returns, I shall speak to her about some possible improvements.

Toby spots the crossing out of Bri's name and, taking the hint, adds a new note. He then adds a smaller note. I nominate Sally! Not a fair election if there is no second choice! And Miss Bri as her running mate! He then scoots along, having a rather large order for Whoop'n Chairs that he needs to see about filling.

*Sally sees the latest comments and frowns a bit*
Who nominated me? I'm certainly not going to try for it......
*she then writes a reply to Prescia*
I can see what you mean by that, Prescia, but unavoidable while Auntie Jo is away. It's regrettable, but a fact, unfortunately.

Pulling in from a long haul of rounds a bleary eyed Lyam reads the notes and sighs. Gripping his great helm through the eye slits he slams it against against the message board and bristles out of the Town Hall. Slowly he gathers his thick frame for a hin and saunters off toward the Hinn Inn, daring someone along the way to say something. Ordering a growler of brown ale he slips off to the side and begins to drink his fill. His gaze passing between his jug o' ale and the direction of the rooms upstairs, he sips, a gaunt face peering from behind a tankard.

Briar is away with her sweetheart Egan visiting the desertlands where the Bendir camp is located, and therefore, misses her "re-nomination" by Toby.

Briar marches in to check on the noticeboard, afraid of more pranksters, and marks out her name as running mate too.
"I bet it was that damned Toby. He knows I hate meetin's"

After the group sent out to find the lad returned, the camp settled down. Many a happy hin song can be heard over the next few days. The return of the young one, the second Obelisk falling in Warftown, and the aid the locals gave in finding the lost lad...all lifted the spirits of the Dale folk. Some questions were left...Tak Rosen can be seen looking for answers. -Why were there more Croc's in the river? -What happened to the huge reptilion creature? Lyle was see leaving with it. -Where did all the hin come from that were found dead along the way? They were not from the camp..that was for certain.

Making her way through the small village of Bendir Dale, is a small figure with snow white hair and golden eyes. Cheerfully she greets Dunkar and offers him a song, her singing a little off key, but promising in it's melody. Though she may one day learn better mastery of her fairly sweet singing voice, for now the halfling starts small. Calling out to passing adventurers she plies her trade with a sunny smile and warm demeanor...
"Limericks, bardic services! Immortalize yourself in myth and legend! All prices negotiable!"
She would call this out at every corner of Bendir Dale, then move along to the big city of Cordor...

As she's about to leave Bendir Dale the next morning, the halfling lass makes another call to advertise her trade when she is stopped by a visiting human...
"Limericks, bardic services! Immortalize yourself in myth and legend! All prices negotiable!"
He stopped and looked down at her, some sort of roughened warrior of the wild, his beard grown in and his sword treated with deer hide, repaired and maintained by forest treasures. In response the young halfling looked up at him and flashed a sunny smile.
"Limericks or bardic services? Stories recorded to inspire future warriors, sir? Five gold a limerick, ten gold to scribe your best warrior story in the most wonderfully artistic fashion so as to ring through the halls of time ever after!"
The man itched his beard in consideration and after a moment pulled five coins from a bag at his hip, handing them over. At that the young halfling smiled cheerfully again and cleared her throat, in preperation to recite a limerick...
"There once was a man from Cordor, who tried to hop the border, he lost his pants, and was made to dance, while the people of Cordor did chortle!"
The man was taken aback for a moment, and seemed to be slowly deciding how he felt about the limerick until a low rumble escaped his lips, followed by a full eruption of laughter as he held his stomach. The halfling lass, fearful of the silence, brightened at the laughing and joined in, laughing herself as the man picked up his pack and headed off laughing to himself. As her own laughter tapered off she returned to the task at hand and wandered the small village of Bendir Dale plying her trade.
"Limericks, bardic services! Immortalize yourself in myth and legend! All prices negotiable!"
