Post subject:  [Cordor, Kampos, Kohl] Delta Academy, Lecture List

Lectures Available1. Ethics in Arcane Spellcasting, Morality Beyond "Detecting Good and Evil." (Advanced, Philosophical)

2. Necromancy is not "Black and White." (Beginner, Amia-Specific Topic)

3. Open discussion of any spell school. (Beginner to Advanced)

a. Detecting Planar-Taint Through Abjuration. (Beginner, Practical)

b. Diviners Aren't All Rich for a Reason. (Theory, Controversial)

c. Conjuration, or, How the Lazy Learned to Love Magical Middle Management. (Advanced, Theory)

d. Illusionary Lecture. (Unknown)

e. Enchantment, the Foulest of Schools. (Theory, Beginner)

f. Evocation as a Sledgehammer. (Advanced, Practical)

g. Seven Degrees to Dragonhood; The Apogee of Transmutation. (Advanced, Practical)

4. Proper Methods of Undead Disposal.

As always these are less true lectures and more for 'discussion.' I would not want to sit and listen to someone speak for an hour, so open participation, even to the point of total derailment is encouraged assuming it serves a purpose. Knowledge is gained through community effort and passed on through publicly available channels. Come to 'learn' not to 'be taught.'

Archmage Urien,

I would be interested in any number of these lectures, though the first , Ethics in Arcane Spellcasting is one that most intrigues me for the immediate.

My name is Tuomas Valo, and I can be reached via missive care of the Keep of Kohlingen. Please send word when a suitable time might be for me to sit in on your next running of this lecture.

A quick replyMonday Night, Ethics in Arcane Spellcasting, Morality Beyond "Detecting Good and Evil." I would prefer, given the nature of this specific topic, to only have 'arcane' individuals attend, as the simple reality is that divine spellcasters cannot be persuaded on these topics, and discussions with them tend to devolve until they simply quote their scripture over and over. But if you don't do that, feel free to come.

-Archmage Urien

//monday night 8pm est at the Delta academy. if you don't know how to get there, go out the gate from cordor west, take the cart guy to the 'delta.' once at the 'delta' look for the only building you can go in, you wont need to area transition. lecture will be upstairs in the classroom.

A reply is left at Kampo's.
"Despite being considered a divine caster, I shall attend one of your open discussions. I would consider myself a reasonable man, and won't ramble on about my beliefs like an old fool. I am open to such discussion as long as the others are open to my ideals as well."
A small lion is illustrated beautifully below the text.

A reply to where Archmage's last post was.

Why do you insult Lord Tuomas Valo of the Holy City? Does it leave you in a distraught state of mind that through years of dedication, Lord Tuomas Valo earned his title? Or, are you upset everyone on Amia is a Archmage.. No matter the reason, you sir, are scum.

Urien,

I do apologize for missing the class I had requested, however a matter involving helping a friend free a captured sentient being from unjust captivity took longer than anticipated, and as such I was uncontrollably unable to attend.

Uncontrollably, as I am not one to say no to a friend, especially if it involves helping an innocent or standing against injustice. I have both sworn myself to service to Kohlingen, and to the highest ideals of the Celestial Virtues in Oath and deed, and my duty is to work in the best interests of the Greater good.

If simply on the basis of that you wish to judge me as scum still, than such is your choice but I do bid a few questions answered then:

1) By what right do you claim yourself Archmage?

2) Why do you feel yourself an appropriate teacher for the Delta Academy when you have a demonstrable bias against certain schools of magic, based on the titles for your courses?

3) Do you feel it your right to decry others without hearing their side of a situation? It is a common error, even I make it from time to time but before a judgement is made by any Magi especially ones who focus upon logic and reason, do they not have to hear all sides of an arguement?

I am curious to hear the questions to these answers, and in spite of what I take will be a cool reception at best I will endeavour to attend the next lecture ran if my duties permit or otherwise I shall strive to visit the Delta intermittently over the next while until I can speak with you in person.

Regards,

Lord Tuomas Valo

Post subject:  Re: [Cordor, Kampos, Kohl] Delta Academy, Lecture List

I cleared my schedule to prepare, do research, and be at the appointed place at the appointed hour we agreed upon. The least you could have done was show up. I realize it's a 'tall order' for you, but still, you are scum, rude scum, 'prestigious' scum, but scum nonetheless, and worse still, you are a 'time waster.'

As for the rest of you, those not counted among the 'has-beens' and 'never–weres' that have chiselled their chagrin and contempt upon my college wall, those of you whom have not dedicated themselves to a single solitary school of magic simply to reap the benefits of flies placing maggots in their skin and an undead 'friend' of cold and callous character, I say thusly; my next lecture will focus upon one of the schools I have a "demonstrable bias against."

I do have a bias against some schools. Attend some of the lectures I offer and perhaps you will learn why. I look forward to seeing any of you at the appointed time (Next Monday, 8 PM) and at the appointed place (Delta Academy) for a rousing lecture.

HilariousLet's think this over, shall we, Urien.

Lord Tuomas Valo, honored Wizard of the Holy City. Has helped fight through multiple wars, and overcomes many situations. Through his dedication in both the Arcane, and to the City, he has earned the title Lord. Pretty sad when one of the nicest gnomes I've ever met calls you out on your bullshit.

"Your" college Wall? That's hilarious. You know why no one really seems interested in your lectures? Because you teach with bias. If you're going to be a "Archmage", or a "Instructor" You can't be bias towards a single school. Just because you dislike it, doesn't mean others will. You'd be persuading them, or influencing them, towards the schools they feel you approve worthy of focus. All good instructors allow their students to do as they please, find what school they want.. Not the other way around.

Regards,

- Headmaster HoJo.

The red haired wizard stops to read adjusting her glasses and again talks to herself:

"Hmm.. research.. yes.. gotta finish my Poking Hand spell... and then create an entire new School of Magic dedicated to The Art of Poke! Also does not seen those questions got answered.. well the first one is easy.. every mage that sets their foot on the island and get powerfull enough to.. well maybe cast a Hellball becomes automatically an Archmage by default.. or.. something like that... oh and their mothers too.. I think... "

You can't be bias against a school and be an instructor? Arn't you a Palemaster and a "Headmaster" of some instructive order in Tarkul? Did you not abandon pursuit of all schools but Necromancy in order to gain a cadaverous component, and a cold comrade?

Again boy, stop making assumptions. "Knowledge and power, seeker," your doorman says as I recall. I offer 'Knowledge' Monday Nights at 8PM. Consider attending a lecture on one of the schools I am 'bias' against, you're clearly very ignorant.

Abandoning pursuit of all schools except Necromancy would be an idiotic action. No one ever stated Palemasters simply give up on all other schools. So, try not to assume anything. I focus in Necromancy, yes, but I study all other schools. So, "boy", I can't wait to see no one showing up to your next lecture, too. I guess no one is interested in seeing you preach what you don't know. Truly, arcane was a mistake for you.
