*The following announcement is posted in one prominent central location, and one location only, in all major settlements across Amia and upon neighboring islands with seagoing vessel service to and from Amia. In locations where permission is required, such as Wiltun, the poster is delivered by courier to the civil administration of the locality requesting permission (politely) to have the notice posted on the message board. The poster is sizeable, with lavender hued text of a diminutive size, but clearly readable style.* Citizens of the Isle of Amia and our island neighbors, I write this with two purposes in mind and, not seeking to clutter your message boards with handbills, I’ve combined them into one public service announcement. The first message is directed to the government officials, citizens, craftsman, merchants, and tinkerers of the major towns and cities in our region. As is widely known, Bendir Dale township has longstanding and mutually beneficial trading ties with virtually every major settlement on Amia from Cordor to Kohlingen, and beyond. Bendir Dale, a humble yet productive trading partner, a single flower in the bouquet of finely administered cities and townships of this island, expresses its gratitude for your continued patronage. We have remained peaceful and prosperous for many a year due to the enlightened past administration of a series of elected Mayors and our beneficial commercial ties with all of you. Together we have built a level of trust, confidence and economic camaraderie that I can only hope will continue well beyond my modest mayoralty. It is too infrequent that we pause in our daily toils to extend thanks to our friends, neighbors, customers, patrons, visitors, and suppliers. Which is why I stop and do so right now. Thank you! The second reason for this posting, wholly unrelated to the first and directed to an entirely different audience, is to clarify a few points of Bendir Law for travelers of the various realms who may pass through your territories and eventually make their way to Bendir Dale. The territorial boundaries of Bendir Dale township extend from the northern fringe of the Amian Frontier to the southern edge of Amia Forest and from the eastern edge of the Mylock Hills to the western outskirts of the Skull Crag Foothills. Within the township is a walled section. Our Laws extend throughout our administered lands, NOT in just the walled section of town. This includes bans of individuals and groups. Our farmers, children, craftsmen, traders, and clergy often work/play in remote areas well outside our walled section and keeping them safe from all harm is of the utmost importance. In fact, this is the first duty of government. Bendir Dale is fortunate to be served by a citizen's Militia. Observant travelers will notice we have Militia members stationed in areas well away from the walled section, including areas where the walls aren’t even visible from a distance. These, of course, are just the Militia members you are intended to see. While many citizens of our township may have a leisurely demeanor and enjoy jocular banter with visitors of all stripes, we collectively take our community security seriously and have the means and determination to enforce our Laws throughout the entirety of our lands. Questions and/or further points of clarification may be directed via courier to my desk in the Bendir Dale Townhall. Comments on all matters discussed above are, of course, welcome. She doesn't comment about it on the spot, but soon after, a courier finds his way to the Dale's townhall, with a letter for the Mayor.* Mayor Missus A'whiggans, and all the residents of the Dale, I must apologize: I mistook your militia's tolerance for permission to trespass into the non-walled part of your lands. It was never my intention to cause distress among your people by my presence, and I shall endeavor not to strain your patience further- it does make sense that the ban should apply to the non-walled area, and as such I shall avoid your village from now on.
