A notice is put up on the boards of Cordor, Kohlingen, Triumvir, Winya Ravana, Wharftown, Djedet and Forstakkr. It is also attached to the sign near Bendir Dale's carts.

Quote:
The Heralds Reborn!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

Not long ago, there was a fashionable group known as the Heralds of Triumvir. We organised Revels that offered wonder and entertainment to all who desired it.
We offered a gathering for scholars and artists alike.
We offered merriment and distraction in a world so riddled with strife and conflict.

But the times were not always kind to us, and Vodak's terrible attack on Triumvir left us broken.
Many of us have drifted to new lands. Some have been lost to death.
The few of us that remained struggled, the memories of Triumvir filled with thorns and grief.
Some began to wonder where we had gone..

And now we return, in a new form, unbound from Triumvir and all others.
To again offer song and tales.
To seek adventure and new roads.
To offer a family to those who have non.
And we do so in freedom of heart and lightness of spirit.

We are not of zeal, nor vain ambition.
Nor violence, nor strife.
Nor deep darkness, nor blinding light.
We are seekers of a new home.
And Heralds of a singing heart.

Should you find yourself in what we offer.
Then reach to me wherever we walk.

Elorathall.

OOC Clarification:
1. As a guild, the Heralds' concept and look-and-feel would be mishmosh of a variety of different concepts. It mainly offers a place for the following sorts of character concepts (and the players who enjoy playing them, of course):

Gypsy Caravan: Tarot Reader, Wandering Merchant, Scoundrel, Craftsman, Hunter, Cook, Gambler, Nomad, Wanderer, ...
Circus: Juggler, Acrobat, Animal Handler, Joker, Entertainer, ...
Bardic Troupe: Minstrel, Musician, Lyricist, Composer, Tale-Teller, Poet, Dancer, Sculptor, Actor, ...
Adventuring Guild: Adventurer, Dungeoneer, Monster Slayer, Monster Scholar, Freelancer, Pirate,...
Extended Family: Outcast, Refugee, Half-Elf, Half-Drow, Half-Orc, Professional Drunkard, Ralten's Reject, Those Who Have No Home And Kin, ..

And many more.

2. While Herald players acknowledge that physical conflict and combat PVP are a major part of the server's environment and we understand that many players enjoy involving themselves in such, the Heralds as a group and as a collective of players strives to refrain from getting involved in such, except for friendly spars or under exceptional circumstances. As such, a particularly militant or crusading character is unlikely to be accepted as a member, as are the sort of characters that tend to draw aggression by default.

3. While there is a general concept and look-and-feel, the Heralds as a group tries to be open to growth and development. There is little in the way of hierarchy, goals are not fixed, and initiative is encouraged. However, characters (and players) are expected to 'pull their weight' and contribute in ways that support the concept of the Heralds. Expect this requirement to be reinforced.

The sign near Bendir Carts is removed and will continue to be removed even if it is replaced.

A pink haired girl stares at the poster in Cordor for a good five minutes before breaking into a grin and clanking off towards the Nomad.

"I wonder....."

The sign is indeed replaced, once. After it is taken down again, it appears tied to a tree near walls.
And once it's taken down there, it appears on the bridge gate.
Once it's taken down there, it appears on the back of one of the carts.
Once it's taken down there, an illusionary version floats in the middle of the crossroads outside the southern gate.
And so on. After a few times, it seems to become a bit of a game to the poster.

"I wonder if I could get one onto the roof of the town hall."

Bendir Dale's guards make a point to take a description of the repeated poster upon the many returns he makes to Dale lands, passing the information along to their superiors for judgement. They do this as they note their Mayor repeatedly removing the notices.

Hmm...so he failed to bend the Triumvir to his will so now is just going to go about gathering up as many people as he thinks he'll be able to control and follow him...what a git. You failed, why bother to try again. the big man in Wiltun colors shakes his head as he reads one of the posts in Cordor, So many players and yet so few even know how to play.

He tromps off towards the central docks, cloak flapping in the breeze.

As the thoughts of the cloaked Wiltunese man apparantly spread troughout the island and beyond, Elor just shrugs and smiles.
"You can never pleasure them all. But I do try!

When in Wharftown, Elor approaches Garth in the Shanty.

"Hello Mayor Garth. I'm Elor, the one putting up those notices about the Heralds. We met a few months ago. I'd like to organise a revel in Wharftown, a festival of sorts. It'll mainly be songs and tales, and food for those who come. They might also take the opportunity to spend some gold in the shops here. And I'm still looking for someone who could provide drinks as well, if you're interested.

So, would it be alright to organise the Revel here in Wharftown?"

A banjo? That's a sort of mandolin, isn't it? I don't think I've ever seen one for sale. But I'll do my best to find one and learn to play it, or hire someone who has one. Thank you, Mayor Garth. I'll let you know the exact details as soon as I have them. Farewell!

And with that, over the next few hours another note is added to the advertisement about the Heralds and the request for cooks and brewers.

Hand of Ieyrn Saylgarix in Wharftown had only watched the notices with a passing interest, more of an afterthought than anything on his usual patrols around the place. The kobold guardsman was obviously not very interested... until...
Upon seeing the small note recently appended, he suddenly seems to become more interested, hiding around the noticeboards watching who comes to read and post things there.
He also makes some quiet inquiries to the guards stationed near the noticeboard and asks if they saw who appended the mention of an assassination.

It is no secret who posted the notice. A One-Handed, Bear-Shouldered Mulhorandi male, who very literally lives in a room at the Shanty posted the notice right in front of whoever would have seen him.

And thus Elorathall's clever yet poorly thought out public response leaves the locals asking why the Mayor is mixing the village up with someone who just admitted he would have someone killed in an unlikely, but not inconceivable, situation...

There is no withdrawal of the approval yet, but concerns mount slowly.

The bear had been prodded into wakening. The rough voiced Mulhorandi would stand outside the Slanty and speak only once, and quietly after consultation with the Selunite priestess. That consultation was a request for the High Priestess to cast a Zone of Truth outside the Shanty. Regardless of whether or not she acceded to his request, he began. . .

"People of Wharftown,

Few of you know of me, and fewer yet I think would believe my words, or indeed have cause to. I will not quibble with rhymes or pointless posturing, for that is not the manner in which people who work for causes, be it food and shelter or to combat evil in its 'various' forms, should communicate with each other. I will speak it plain.

I am Precept Tauronemhet, a servant of Osiris the Mulhorandi god of Righteous Justice and fair Judgement, and long have I been welcomed in this town, a town I now consider my home after its people gave me succour when I first lost my hand. I swore an oath to Alanna once to defend this town against all percieved threats, as if I stood upon the sands of Mulhorand. Though Alanna has been absent, that Oath holds true and as such I will not allow the taint of Elorathall to be suffered upon the people, unchallenged."

The Mulhorandi paused a moment, to let the final word sink in.

"As stated I will speak it plain and truthful, once was I a member of Elorathall's Heralds, yet at the same time I was not. I had been commissioned by other parties to keep tabs on the man that would proclaim himself Prince of a realm in defiance of the people of that realm's wishes. A man of such debased cowardice that he would isolate that realm to maintain his power.

I have with me a letter, sent to me by Elorathall, whilst not blatantly requesting the people of Mulhorand to Assassinate certain individuals, you will see that the tone of the message leaves very little room to deny the implication that murder should be done for him.

Yes it may be true that one of those that Elorathall wished dealt with may alledgedly have been a servant of Malar, an allegation that he never proved to me, but the others, Arion and the kobold Kurchin are of good purpose and should not be so rashly dealt with because they proved to be an impediment to one mans lust for power.

And let me say it straight, people of Wharftown, Elorathall's lust for personal power and prestige is something that I, having sworn an oath, cannot and will not allow to be inflicted upon the citizenry of Wharftown. His gilded tongue distracts from his vipers fangs. He is poison, and wherever he treads, of a surety, the smallfolk find themselves worse off. You need only look to the current state of the Triumvir and Elorathall's so called good intentions. Or even look to your own recent history to see what this prestige-maddened man is capable of.

He tried to use fear against the fearless to make the Mulhorandi accede to his wishes, he failed and in doing so he has showed to us his quality."

With that the Mulhorandi Male turned and pinned a letter to the Shanties door for any interested to read.

Esteemed Arbitrator Tauronemhet of Djedet,

Yesterday, four of the Heralds of Triumvir ambushed me and staged a coup in order to overthrow me as creator and leader of the Heralds. I have however managed to survive and retain my position. These four are:
* Arion, Councillor of Winya Ravana: He is known to be manipulative, bearing a demeanor of modesty to his advantage. He already confessed working for a secret organisation, which may well be the Arcanum itself; he was the most outspoken opponents of any actions to be taken in defiance of Cordor and the Arcanum
* Valandril/Lyric: the ignorant and blind Malarite feytouched that so publically decries the notable and ancient Mulhorandi culture. He seeks nothing but rebellion for its sake and the chaos it causes, and to draw attention as he does.
* Kurchin: a kobold with a dark past, who hides his true nature between the veneer of being "cute" and "harmless". He constantly meddles in Cordor's politics, yet did not foresee nor oppose Cordor's attempts to annex Triumvir.
* Anica: self-proclaimed songblade, who until yesterday I considered the most loyal and devoted of all the Heralds. Her betrayal pains me deeply.

While the Heralds of Triumvir will endure, I am now in a vulnerable position. As such, I urge you to take what measures you deem appropriate against the individuals responsible for this utterly unlawful and unwarranted betrayal, that would sunder the organisation I have worked so hard to create, and would nullify my ability to support any opposition of the Arcanum.

In wisdom and vision,

Elorathall
Prince of the Heralds of Triumvir

While Laurel was planning to be silent, since she noticed these strange array of notices in Wharftown on her visit to Priestess Lilith, she decides to later send a letter from her desk to Mayor Garth.

Dear Mayor Garth,

Salutations. I am Laurel Beestinger, Mayor of Bendir Dale and Priestess of the Hearthkeeper. Since I could not help but to notice some of the strange correspondence from a man openly admitting to assassination attempts and the like, I wish to offer my thoughts on Elorathall.

While I do not believe the Heralds themselves are dangerous nor evil group, this man Elorathall is a completely different story. He is entirely responsible for the many deaths that the Triumvir faced recently which could have been entirely prevented had it not been his stubborn refusal to seek treatment from the Salandrans when he was infected with an infectious ooze known as Vodak. In fact, this stubborn refusal for treatment has lead to an infection of the head of our military defense of Bendir Dale, which could have left the entire Dale in equal state of the Triumvir now had it not been Lady Tymora's smile upon the Dale.

Given that this man has now publicly admitted to potential future assassinations, on top of his recent acts that has endangered both the Triumvir and the Dale, it is my suggestion to not have any more interaction with this individual than necessary given the path of death, plague, and havoc this man leaves in his wake.

With Hearthkeeper's Blessing,
Laurel Beestinger

Saylgarix continued to watch, listen, and observe, the kobold guardsman silent, yet alert. He would also read the notices and notes put up. However, while the proceedings remained (mostly) civil and nonviolent, he did not step in... nor would he share his thoughts.

Most of the preparations are done, so the most important thing to decide right now would be the date. Would a tenday from now ((Sunday, April 1 - GMT evening)) be alright?

A young woman in leather and ironwood plated armour reads the notes. An expression of worry crosses a freckled face, honey-brown ringlets obscuring the expression when she drops her head in thought. She leaves her own notice before slowly wandering away, turning back to look, a time or two.

I am interested in hearing the history at work here. I am concerned by the vitriolic responses, and I am certain there are more pressing ills upon the isle than this, and we would all be well served by clearing the air. Any person of any opinion is asked to meet me, and I will bring tea and cookies in trade for a version of the events which have led us here. Please find me in the Grove or in the Temple of Salandra to send word.

After reading the original notice and the letter on the door of the Shanty, E'dalar turns to leave for Uhm, wondering if Elorathall's fears of the four "culprits" were just, or if he feared to be bereft of power.

A young woman robed in red with a Harp Case at her side would be seen in Wharftown taking notice of the notes posted, and of what the One handed Mulhorandi Male had to say.
If asked who she was, she would reply "Keliana, Artist and Trader" if pressed to ask in what Trade or what she specializes in her Art "As an Artist, I am a Harpist and as a Trader, I specialize in Gems and Metal Ores"
If asked why she was here, she would reply with "I am watching what Unfolds"
Other then checking the notice board, she would return to the Tavern each night and play if she was requested or allowed, then would retire to an inn room.
