Mr. Vespucci, as you requested I brought the matter to the lawmakers of Kohlingen, here is the Lord Justicar Marinsbane's response to your insistence it is a double standard to disallow certain animals, but allow domesticated animals.

Quote:
"There is a difference between a dog and a large panther.

As a Druid, he should understand this. As a lawmaker, I should not need to list every animal allowed in the city. It would not be prudent to do so.

Please inform the Druids that their friends are oftentimes incredibly frightening to the people of the city, who aren't used to seeing them. As far as any "double standard" goes, please inform the Druids that arguing that a full grown dire wolf or bear should be allowed to walk around the city as about as silly as saying they should be forced to allow our tradecarts to travel directly through their grove: We wouldn't imagine doing so.

If the Druid persists, please take the time to explain to them how city life works, and common pets and animals seen in a city. Explain to them that three foot tall spiders, panthers, and pack wolves are not among these animals, and request that they remain outside.

Justicar Marinsbane"

Please be advised, the law stands as written, you are welcome in Kohlingen, but your panther must remain outside the gates in the outskirts. Thank you for your cooperation.

Regards,
~Keeper Babette d'Astier de la Vigerie, Battle Priestess of Torm, Keeper of the Triad's faith

*seeing the note is clearly displayed in the forest as mentioned, another druid sends a letter to Kohlingen in reply*

Ladies and gentlement,
Justicar Marinsbane,

the druid your note is adressed to is unknown to the Grove. I wish to inform you, that the Grove never had any issues with Kohlingen regarding this and that "the druids" know quite well the difference between a tame dog and a wild animal. This is an issue of a single druid who has no connection to us and we want to make absolutely clear, that we are not involved this. We know quite well which animals are proper for a city and which not and also wish to add that we are also aware that wild animals should also not be dragged into a city for their own sake. The unknown smells, the uncommon surroundings and the noise are stressful and irritating for them.

Malandria, Archdruid of Earth

Lady Malandria, Archdruidess;
No offense was meant to those known to Kohlingen, and I believe the Lord Justicar used the term druid(s) in the most general term to include both druids and rangers unknown to us that would question our laws, such as this gentleman did, he told me he was helping out with a matter in Wharftown but frequented the Idol of Mielikki in Amia Forest. Not knowing exactly where to locate him to give him the information, I sent the letter in general, to the forest, hoping it would make its way to him. Forgive me for any unintentional slight, it was not meant to offend.

The Ranger in question was quite adamant about the duplicity of our laws concerning animals. Should you encounter this ranger, please, if you would not mind, please educate him on the very marked differences between the typical companion animals for druids and rangers, even familiars for mages, and the common domesticated animals normally found inside a city.

My most gracious thanks, and sincerest apologies for the unintentional slight,
~Keeper Babette d'Astier de la Vigerie, Battle Priestess of Torm, Keeper of the Triad's faith.
