Post subject:  [All Surface Save Tarkuul] Query regarding classes:

Greetings,

I have a question I would ask of the Public whom might be inclined to visit the Monolith:

What kinds of classes would you like to see taught? I have a few possible ideas myself, but I would ask what classes people might be interested in and thus be able to start up in teaching some from the Monolith.

Please be mindful of the Monolith laws and that not all offered subjects may be readily teachable at this time, although with sufficient interest I imagine it could be arranged to study what needs to be known.

Please send all replies here, or to Monolith Three One, Three Four via Speedies.

Delivered via Speedy's

Mr. Tuomas,
During my recent attempt at gathering the proper information, I have run across some discrepancy.
I was trying to find out if it is in fact safe for a pregnant female who has innate magic (sorceress) to use said magic while pregnant.
I have spoken to several women who have innate magic, most of whom have been pregnant at one time or another. My findings have proven to be fruitless as half of them say do not use magic, while the other half says it is fine up until the last trimester.

While I myself am not pregnant, at least as far as I know, this may be a concern for many on the island.

Just an idea for you, sir.

I do not have a definitive answer for this myself, but I am also not a physician. This is something I would definitely err on the side of caution and advocate against magic being used by the pregnant woman for the time being.

However, it does beg a more definitive question and one worth looking into.

Tuomas,

I would be extremely interested in any class provided by the Monolith, in the area of defense against the Necromantic arts. While I'm not certain this is an area of your particular expertise, any knowledge that could be shared in this area would be greatly beneficial.

Particular areas of interest would be defense against:
  • The more invasive necromantic spells which target the soul directly.
  • Tapping into the Negative Energy plane.
  • Some of the more dangerous undead creatures and creations.

I hope this gives you some direction.

Mister Tuomas,

Though I've not had the pleasure of visiting Mystra's Monolith since my arrival to these isles, I have heard many speak of it with high regard as a place of learning and high morals. I find myself intrigued by the thought of attending classes there and would be most interested in a continueing discourse on the myrid of political influences to be found in both the Ruathym area and Amia proper.

Should such a class be offered, please do send word to me at the Hinn Inn and I would be more than happy to pay any fee for attendance.

Sincerely,
Vastiel Ostaur

A message is sent to the Monolith for Tuomas.

Mr. Tuomas,

I believe a class that teaches people the proper use of the weave and how to respect it and prevent it's abuse would be a good one to have. Too many people use it as if it's a toy rather than a gift.

Hullo Mister Tuomas,
I saw one of your notices regarding classes, in Bendir Dale. I thought I might toss out the suggestion of teaching about the supposed rumored connection between the Power and the Art, if it's something that you have heard yourself. I would be interested in hearing a goodly forgotten folk scholar's opinion on it. Oh, and magic that is particularly effective against those worm elf spiderkissers, with their innate defenses.

Warmest regards as always,
Blessed be by the Black Hound,

The notice regarding a proposed Poledancing class is taken off to aside, and the rest noted.

Dear Sir,

I am always interested in, and looking for, classes to expand knowledge in deal with Outsiders, whether they be from the upper/middle/lower planes or more kin to the elemental and the spaces in between. Primarily, the direction of education would be in dealing with these beings in matters of defense, conflict, and most successful manner/tools/et. al. of dispatching/banishing them.

Thank you,

"Defence Against the Arcane

This is a class I have personally asked the Monolith on several occasions to host. This would provide knowledge for those who are not gifted with the arcane as how to best to defend themselves against hostile arcanist. It would provide a wealth of knowledge for the isle peasants, guards, fighters and general populace.

I urge you to consider it again.

-Signed
Warlord Calin Katar."
