This notice is sent to: - Samantha of Kohlingen, - The Grove (through or Malandria) - The Cordorian Guard, Adventurer's Division through Capt. Nevaeh Tarvencia - Bendir Dale's leadership. - The Dawnguard (Via Adela) - The Triadic Knights (likely through Samantha but otherwise, Sent to the keep by Tuomas) - The Shrine of Eilistraee. - The Monolith. - Winya Ravana - Wharftown's authority. Peoples of Amia to whom this letter is Addressed,
This is to address your combined concerns, regarding the Obelisks which still remain. Firstly, I regret that the prior plan I had put to you all could not be pursued but I shall detail the essential information as to why. Below, I have a diagram which should help in explaining the Obelisks:

In red, is the Portal Focii, whaat lay below the Obelisks and what they are likely powering, through the Absorbative fields in blue.
Specifically, the Portal Focii serve in a similar fashion to what a ritual circle serves in normal magical summoning ritual. The five of them together form a circle, and pentagram which is believed to call open a portal to the home of the being responsible for this entire mess, a being known as Terzaroch.
The Obelisks (shown in grey on the diagram) serve as magical absorbers, and defenses for the Portal Focii to prevent their being dismantled. The reason my original plan would not work , is that through some means I as yet have been able to determine for certain are able to absorb even Disjunction spells which are known to disjoin artifact even.
However.. a means is availed to dismantle the Obelisks and has been in use, albeit to date at my hesitation and concern.
Celestial Gems (and I will clarify on this part later) have fallen from the sky across various parts of Amia, that when divined do not give great detail about them even with potent spells as Legend Lore, but do provide the information that they are linked to something greater *which has been discovered to be the Obelisks*. Specifically they serve as keys that when inserted into a hidden space on the Obelisk, convey a number of people inside the Obelisk to be tested by the forces within.
The Celestial gems, while seeming to fall from the sky are NOT of Celestial origin in that they are not aligned to the Planes of Good at all. This has been confirmed both through the Clergy of the Triad and additionally, Selune to the best of their understanding.
These tests vary, and thus far three of the five Obelisks' tests have been attempted, only one of which was successful, the Obelisk in Cordor. If you were to travel to the Cordor Obelisk's site now, you would see there only remains a Portal Focii.
These tests gauge a variety of things, such as individual morals and the capacity to see beyond the illusions of this Devil. In the Cordor Obelisk's test in particular (though I cannot attest to the rest as we never achieved to that point), the last portion was to face a faux-version of Terzaroch, quite possibly a fragement of his true power.
After his defeat, and the completion of the main puzzle within the Cordor Obelisk, the Obelisk fell apart and we were ejected from it. The Obelisk then crumbled and was destroyed, exposing the Portal Focii which since has been Dimensionally locked, but for safety reasons has not been disjoined yet.
These gems had been known to me before, but at the time they were suspicious and at best, a boon unexpected which is why I hadn't originally factored them into any plans I developed. An ancillary effort which shall remain unspoken of at this point may provide an alternative to them, though for this I will not speak of the nature save to say it is a reasonable plan to attempt in spite of the circumstances at this time.
It is intended that we try one of the remaining two gems in an Obelisk (whether be the Shrine of Eilistraee's , or the Wharftown Obelisk dependant on how readily the authorities of the respective site will permit us such) and continue the tests, hoping to expose more of the Portal Focii.
If indeed we are able to expose more portal focii, it may be possible to dismantle the intended portal by disjoining some of the Portal Focii once exposed but I will ask that not be quoted or assumed, merely a hope based on my own extrapolative theory regarding the Portal focii and their comparitive ritual circles.
Thus: Comes the question I imagine all are asking.
"What can I do to help?"
Well, many a thing, really and I'll detail below
* When I send out more exact word on when the next test is to happen, All five of the sites should be observed, both mundanely and arcanely. The site we are testing at in particular will be important to be observed and protected, but in the case of the the other sites, there may be reactions we are not percieving due to the focus on the Testing Obelisk we are at.
The spells I'd need cast ideally are Detect Magic and Analyze Dweaomer with the results noted and sent to my attention as soon as possible.
* If you are at the test site, be patient and ask others to be patient. The tests only allow a limited number of people into them, and any who are going understand, we are not dealing with simple tests an educator might offer. These tests are life and death, and we haven't the room for pride or absolutist morals, as in one of the tests, such absolutism was what cost us.
These are not the tests one seeking glory wishes to engage in. These are tests meant to save lives, and to see the island spared a second coming of the Devil Terzaroch.
* Head to another of the sites, and, keep an eye out at the sites for those who might be analysing them as we are, or who otherwise may be meddling with the Obelisks, for it would not surprise me if Terzaroch or his minions might be trying to ward from exactly what we are doing.
Some details on Terzaroch:
- It is understood that he has come to this island in the past, but was defeated by a combinaton of Drow, Elves and the blessings of God-touched weapons. A telling of this tale can be found in the book The Trials of Adavar, though I will see if I can arrange a summary of the events written up by one of those involved in the past and have it posted to everyone's attention.
- It is also understood, based on information garnered during a sojourn to look into something related to this that he is currently bound in the form of a mortal man with red glowing eyes and dark robes. Additionally, he's likely able to shift forms, for short periods into his true form, a tall devilish figure with black bat-like wings.
- Further information will be provided if and when it becomes availible.
In closing, I ask you all to be ready for the times to come whatever they are.

Sent to the same list as above (save Wharftown's mayor, who I will outline in summary what Tuomas explains below).
Tentative to the granting of permission by Wharftown's authorities, we will be attempting the test of the Obelisk in Wharftown later this day.
I ask all to be ready, not just to come to Wharftown's to aid in keeping this Obelisk safe from outside interference but to observe the other Obelisks as previously outlined, with th additional intention of ensuring no outside interference disrupts the work being done.
Gond Inspire us, Tuomas Valo
--
Tuomas ends up renting the room at the Slanty Shanty the night if it is availible to be rented and quietly speaks to the Mayor, explaining that he seeks the Mayor's permission to attempt the Obelisk test from the Obelisk in Wharftown, per his prior letter in the hopes that they can successfully remove it.
Aside from the permission to attempt the Obelisk test, all Tuomas asks is if it will be alright for a few people to keep an eye out in Wharftown to make sure no outside interference occurs, and to observe the Obelisk while the test is occuring in case there is something that can be gleaned from observing it.
((I can avail myself in game on the morrow prior to the intended if it'd be preferred need to play this conversation out in game. The time intended for this would be Sat. Dec 18th, 2010 at 2200 hrs Eastern standard *10:00 PM*, and apologize for the suddenness of it))

//If that's directed at me, that's not possible and the earliest i would be available is tuesday, unless you feel like doing things well after midnight my time which I do not believe it suitable for most of the PCs, nor Peeves, whom you actually need to do this.

// It was but I'm trying to keep IC to what Tuomas'd do and I am sorry for the suddenness of this, but the time given was one that was amenible to Peeves and at least one of the other individuals primarily involved.
>.<; Honestly, I'm not sure how you wish this handled but Tuomas would be trying to ask the Mayor's permission ICly (in addition with having stayed the night in Wharftown).

Sent to the same list as prior, including Wharftown's authority once more. People of Amia concerned with the Obelisks,
Recently, as you may or may not have heard a small group has successfully destroyed the Wharftown Obelisk through completion of it's test. While I will not go into details here, the test itself was indeed a reflection of the enchantment that was involved , the gem's enchantment being that of an infliction spell.
The last remaining gem is tied to the Obelisk at the Shrine of Eilistraee. Soon, I hope to meet with the current holder of the gem in question, the Shrine's leadership, and others as part of determining how best to prepare. Once that meeting has taken place, I shall send another missive detailing when the final Test will be attempted and any instructions which will need to be followed.
Whilst I was recovering from this test, I saw a dream which I believe has ties to the Obelisks and the events inherent to Terzaroch's machinations. I shall describe it in summary:
"Across the island of Amia, a dark figure began lighting flames, causing small animals to scatter and people to flee with fright. The stars above in the night sky, orange from the flames shed tears which quenched the flames."
The comparitive imagery to the Obelisks isn't lost on me, but I admit some curiousity as to the full meaning of this dream. Regardless, it was worth sharing if only to ask if anyone else has had similar visions and dreams.
Vigilance on our part as a whole has paid off: Right after the destruction of the Obelisk, a reddish light was noted in the Mylock hills not far from Bendir Dale. The light itself had been banished, but admittedly given the timing it was worth being concerned, I ask that when news of the attempt at the Shrine of Eilistraee's Obelisk occurs that people remain vigilant across Amia.
Multiple plans are being made as counters should for some reason the final test cause a problem that we are not anticipating. I ask this: Be ready, be alert and be forewarned to anything which should happen when notice is sent out the final test.
As I unfortunately have not been able to determine the likely sorts of minions Terzaroch specifically has, I've asked a colleague from the Monolith, Araxus to provide general information on Baatezu to assist us all, especially any not familiar with Baatezu (Devils). I have attached it below.

This briefing is intended as a primer on the combat abilities of baatezu in general. As such it is limited to common traits among the race as a whole.
-Baatezu are highly organized. They use intelligent tactics and will usually summon reinforcements when outnumbered. Their highly developed formations and tactical abilities allow them to maintain parity in the Blood War, even when outnumbered many times over by their Abyssal enemies.
-Baatezu formations are usually characterized by high mobility. Many have the ability to teleport while others can fly. They are also telepathic, which allows their formations to efficiently fight as a unit.
-Baatezu are completely immune to fire of all types typically available to mortals. They are resistant to cold and acid. Poison has no effect on their physiology. Other types of magical damage (including electrical damage) are usually effective.
-Many baatezu use magical fear to disorganize their enemies. Mindblank or protection from evil spells are recommended when fighting them. These will also prevent a devil from possessing a mortal host while active.
-Greater baatezu often have formidable spellcasting abilities. Approaching them is usually difficult due to their mobility and formation tactics.

// Please look at the list at the top of this thread: Those were direct sent only (Given the number of IC institutions that'd be involved I decided it's be easier to do that rather then try to individually send the same thing to all the relevant forums)
