Places a wooden post in front of the Logjammers burned out ruins.

Image

"A single note is attached to the wooden post set in front of the ruined Logjammer, it carries no signature nor is it addressed to anyone in particular"

=====
I used to live here, with my family. We didn't have much but we had a home, a life, we had hope, and then they came. Took us from our home, dragged us off "for the greater good", they took everything from us, all but our lives. You know who you are, keepers of good, of justice, righting the wrongs done onto the people.

Who's going to right the wrongs done onto my family? You offer to rebuild what you destroyed, you offer to help restore what you took away, but you should know, nothing will be the same, ever. For all your self proclaimed acts of greatness, all your words of justice and virtue. Why don't you tell me who's going to comfort my children when they cry at night, too afraid to sleep, afraid of being dragged out of their home.
Who's going to tell my wife that things will be alright, that the things we lost we can find anew, that we'll manage and that things will work out. Who's going to tell her those lies, just so she can make it through another day.

What gives you the right, what gives you the right to destroy lives in the name of your crusade. All for the sake of destroying evil, you are no better then the monsters you hunt.

These sentiments do not seem to be shared by the refugees in Ceyren's Mill. In fact, all of them are elated to hear the news about the Banite Temple's destruction. The only dissent seems to be from a core of people upset about the burning down of the inn.

"Dear Sir/Madam

Your properganda is unweclome, but allow me to explain since it was my order that caused its burning.

The Logjammer was burnt to prevent flank attacks by the Banites using the crystal located inside. The Banite castle could not have fallen without this sacrafice, and it was simply a sacrafice needed by the war. The destruction of the Logjammer indeed did what it was burnt for, as several reports tell of flashes underneath the rubble, and attempts to break through during the battle. Its clear the crystal was used and would have been devestating had such an attack been allowed.

Funds have been collected by myself and offered to the owner of the Logjammer as well as my personal aide.

Now, what gives me the right to destroy lives? Nothing. However, I do have the right to protect the lives of the men and woman whom fought to remove the evil that was the Banite Temple from threatening this town. I do have the right to take what measures I deemed nessarcy without loss of innocent life. I took the best course of action. If you feel you could have done better, I'd honestly liked to have seen you try. This action was taken as the last possible action. All other avenues where explored, including ancient rituals, aid from the Black Caravan, and aid from the Monolith. All these avenues turned up no other possability. If you suggest we left the temple be, or let my men and woman die while fighting for those Banites for Guldorand, well I'm afraid I couldn't allow that.

I make no apologies for my actions, but I am making compensation. I'm sorry your having troubles, but you'd have had worse had the entire village been burnt down by a Banite assualt. I hope the gods smile on you in the future.

-Signed
Warlord Calin Katar."

...Isn't the answer to your questions obvious? You are the one that needs to tell them things will be okay, that is your duty as a father and a husband, assuming you aren't just some random twit putting up a sign to try to cause trouble. Never heard of a family living in an Inn that wasn't the innkeeper and his family.

The grey armored tiefling snorts then heads south towards the metal and wood deposits dotting the region.

Tuomas reads the sign, and as well Warlord Katar's reply upon it, narrowing his eyes:

~Right.. there needs to be some accounting as to where communication failed here. ~ Tuomas muttered. He took the time to make two copies of Warlord Katar's reply.

Glyph reading Calins notice, looks a little off with the responce.

"hm, if I make a few more trips to Howness, find us a good lumberjack and carpenter would that speed things up?"

he writes under the other notices. he nods at the banite part agreeing there was probably no other choice, but is saddened by the familys loss.

* A travler wearing common clothing walks through Guldorand, His attention turns to the burned down Inn, He looks over the destroyed Inn and sees the notice Posted up...reading it he begins to ball up his fist and grind his teeth seeming more and more angry as he continues to read. He dives into the satchel at his side and pulls out a notebook ripping out a page and begining to write on it*

YOUR MEN, YOUR PEOPLE, IS ALL YOU CARE ABOUT. YOUR NO BETTER THEN THOSE BANITES!

*the travler places the note just under the notice written and walks to the ruins and takes the portal to Khem shaking his head in disgust*

Perhaps, Oh "Lord Calin", you should have adressed the problem of the banites -before- thier numbers swelled and they burst into your little camp killing all of you and taking several people hostage?

The man is right, All you care about is -your- people, Why dont you invest some of that care in the other people of the island. You only attack when your attacked. Pitifull.

"I am not a noble, so refrain calling me Lord if you would. Your adding an honourific I have not gained, nor asked for.

The Banites numbers swelled before this war even begun, before the keep was even in place. But as all I see is complaints, continued lack of signing with an actual names, sorry "Annoyed Shadow" doesn't exactly cut it, and your complete inaction in protecting Guldorand, I'm inclined to believe your full of horseshit. Quite frankely the words that you jot on paper are nothing more then worthless dribble when you clearly made no attempts to protect Guldorand or remove the Banite threat yourself. Those whom made no attempts to aid, or remove the Banites, have no right to judge those that did. Furthermore you do not speak for the residents of Guldorand, those most effected by the presence of the Banites Keep and the results of the war. I doubt that you are even an offical resident of Guldorand, holding papers to prove such.

So as I said before, take your properganda elsewhere. But if your inclined to keep leaving messages fueled by a complete lack of facts, do continue to do so. Your only making yourself look the fool. I for one am quite done responding, this will be my last message in response to any complaints, so you may continue your tirade, but know I'm not going to be listening, I have more pressing concerns, such as the restoration of the Logjammer, to deal with. If you are so possessed by a need to take out your frustrations, you can come find me and do so to my face rather then posting nameless taunts, then, and only then, may I listen. Goodday.

-Signed
Warlord Calin Katar."

May I ask Warlord Katar, why you did not act upon the Banites at an earlier time and at a different location? Doing this would have eliminated the need to destroy the inn in the first place.

"Because you made a general inquirery and so soon after my last message I was able to catch your message before I left the area, so I will respond. Firstly, what other place? We couldn't make a move on any other place against the Banites that would have made a lasting change. In the past we have been apart of numerous assualts on the Banites under different Warlords. The Banites Keep had to be destroyed to have any lasting impact.

Numbers. The time needed to organise a massive alliance. The fact that before they made their move on the crags they hadn't threatened anyone. Numerous reasons.

My order alone could not attack the Banites keep, it would have been suicide. We did however declare war the moment they made a move on the crags openly. We did take the fight to them on several occasions, and many of mine where capturedi in skirmishes we wlost. We did fight, but alone we could not defeat them, as could not the others of our alliance. It was simply the management of such a large group, the planning of the attack, the gathering of the resources, and some how keeping most of this reasonably hush hush till closer to the attack which caused so much delay.

Besieging a castle, and attacking a group as large as the Banites requires much planning and many resources, it was not something that could be rushed, least we have all been destroyed in some foolish assualt. We all where aware that once the attempt was made, we might not have a second chance, so the first chance needed to be essential.

Thats all I will reveal.

-Signed
Warlord Calin Katar."

Tuomas looks at this recent series of notes and shakes his head sadly, murmuring to himself.

~I'm wondering how much of this is true Guldorandi sentiment, and how much of it is just tomfoolery by people deciding it's their right to behave as children. ~

[A note is posted up on plain parchment, the handwriting very thin and spidery, as if written by a rushed hand]

While I am quite capable of understanding the tactical advantage gained by the burning of the tavern, one must bare in mind that "Good" and "Evil" are far more than simple terms or ideals. These are literal cosmic forces, that wax and wane in strength based off the goings-ons in the multiverse. Saying "it's just one thing in a small town on a small rock of an island" is no excuse, a concession to evil (such as living off the maxim "the ends justify the means", in this case, burning down an individual's livelihood) is, unarguably, evil.

You must always strive against becoming what you fight. Or worse, strengthening it. Bane himself gains power from such actions, oppression, making the common person feel as if he has little control over his life. This is an unfortunate pitfall that very few warriors or soldiers manage to avoid. You must ALWAYS remember that your actions affect more than just yourself and Abeir-Toril around you, they affect the very balance of the Multiverse itself.

With that said, the defeat the Banites felt is always appreciated. The burning of the tavern was, I trust you in this, a necessary action. I simply hope that you will take these words and this lesson to heart while making any such decisions in the future. Winning a battle here on the Prime Material means so very little when it's a victory for the opposing force on a multiversal level.

Yes.

Listen to the person that doesn't even /live/ here about what you should do. Gods know that advice is easy to toss off when you have no stake.

Herial, go pretend to be important and smarter than a stick somewhere where people don't /know/ you're full of shit. Or, better yet, put your muscles where your mouth is and help out.

*another pointless note is left up*

You think you are righteous Sir Calin? Your attack was dishonorable, and your methods not very Knightly. The Banites were one of the greatest forces on this Isle. You think your attack was necessary, de-rooting the so called 'evil' here but you are the ones who need to be put in your place. You think you can judge others, when truly you are the ones who need divine judgement. Your time will come.

From what we've heard, it was ney only dishonourable, it was also cowardly. Comin' with 5 times bigger army and launchin' a supprise attack, stealin' a victory, if it could be called that way. So much of their bravery an' knighthood. Bunch o' cowards an' war criminals, that's what they are. Th' loss of our homes will not be forgotten. Damned rabbits!

*a purple dragon reads over hte notice and writes below*

You clearly have no idea what honorable war is, and claiming us dishonorable, why hiding your own identity shows the spineless person behind your message, show yourself, and ill gladly face you in a duel of honor and teach you some respect for the institute of War and knighthood.
As for the loss of your home, I can only assume you are the same idiot that made the first post in this long series of idiotic statements.
Perhaps if you are uncomfortable with not being under the iron heel of the banite church, you should move to zhentil keep and see what kind of treatment you get from the Tyrannical rule here.

All of you who call us Dishonorable, we made a strategic strike, effective siegecraft, it was the banites that hid in thier fortifications, but that is war, no fortress will be torn down by standing and waiting in your own fortress, war is a active process that requires agression, the civilian casulties where minimized, the siege was quick, few civilian structures where destroyed, as such, it was a great success, and done in a very honorable way and according to knightly codes for conduct of war.

This war was nessesary, and those that say it wasnt worth the loss of your home, I can only assume that you prefer banite dictatorship and as such, i doubt you are welcome in the newly liberated Guldorandi, you should probably return to cordor and bicker on about how your hurt feelings and personal material loss is more important than liberating the innosent from tyrants, giving them hope again.

Simply make an line of connection pointing to some of the previous words written.

".... And ney, I will ney leave my name here. Ye would probably burn me and me family, like ye did ta others before, ye Eternal Order lovin' cowards!"

PS Ya can talk whatever ya want, but ya know that ye crapped yer pants before th' attack an' that th' so called "victory" was most dishonourable an' cowardly. Yer are either a disgrace to th' name o' purple dragon knights, or th' entire order is as stupid an' tyranical as ye are.

PSS Thanks fer showin' yer sympathy fer our losses. We didnae expect anythin' less. May Tyr visit ye all with terrible justice.
