Post subject:  [Amia] Got balls?

*These fliers are spread out across most of the Amian islands. They are made of thin, cheap parchments and seem to have been mass-printed. They don't clutter any specific area, but could easily be found in numerous locations when travelling through Amia and its surroundings.*

"Got balls?

WE do!

The Church of Bane stands down for no one. The Black Hand is powerful, as are His loyal followers.

Through the divine blessings and Bane's favour granted to us, we ensure the safety of the Amian Islands.

The Black Caravan has been terrorizing the innocent, the weak and the wicked through its primitive means of bullying and imposing merchantism.

Already, has the Eternal Order succumbed to its evil forthcomings, having their temple completely destroyed.

There are several groups and entities on the Amian islands who know how to defeat the Black Caravan, yet choose not to. This weak approach is shunned by the Church of Bane.

We step up. We have the balls. We have the courage.

Through the blessings of hatred, tyranny, strife and fear, the holy followers of the Black Hand's prophecy aims to correct what is wrong.

The Black Caravan is wrong.

We take the fight no one else dares. We are not the ones to back down.

For that reason, the Black Hand and His Church is the most prominent force on Amia.

May the Black Hand guide and empower us!"

*E'dalar, going for a walk, notices several of the fliers and naturally picks one up for light reading. After finishing it with a raised brow, he tears the paper apart, throwing the pieces into the air*

"They certainly are eager to take over their business. Selling fear obviously isn't enough for those silly fanatics.. I wonder if its an issue of the word "Black".. "

*He suddenly spots a large oak with many thick branches nearby. A minute later he sits at the very top of the tree, making a list of items to craft, humming out of tune, scaring a few birds away*

Caelianna, on one of her frequently more rare passthroughs of the island stops, finds one of these fliers, and picks it up to read it.

Another one messing with the Caravan, eh?

Upon finishing the writing, she crumples the parchment up and throws it over her shoulder, laughing rather loudly as if it were the funniest thing she'd read all day.

Good luck with that, Cupcake. You're going to need it.

Warrick adds another bit to the notice where he sees it.

Two heavily armoured Banites on one Paladin is not something I could attribute to the Banites having 'Balls' as you would call it. Especially Banites who use what I could loosely call Guerilla tactics. Especially when one of you had been hiding behind summoned guardians whilst the other was felled, admittedly that one who fell had to be struck at by many. But, that is where the many hands of cooperation wins over the singular iron fist of Tyranny.

As a sidenote: There's a difference between Guerilla tactics that require 'Balls' as you put it and those that are simply the acts of a few cowards. I call what your man did loosely the second.

*Beneath Warrick's addition*

"I fought six paladins and Sharina by my own, outside of Bendir Dale.

I beat them into heartless pulps, on my own.

Marinah and I faced three triadic knights and two clergy's of the eternal order at the Brogdenstein Mountaintops.

We beat them into heartless pulps, on our own.

I faced five infamous members of the Black Flag by my own, as they tried to ambush and assassinate me within the vicinity of the sacred temple of the Black Hand.

I beat them into heartless pulps, on my own.

I faced the majority of this islands self-proclaimed "heroes", striking them down with the righteous might of Bane for their heresy in having executed an unprovoked attacked on the Banite temple.

I, Dread Inquisitor of Bane, Darthion Illys, have enough balls and courage to put anyone else on this island to shame.

And this, is shared within the Church of Bane."

*A note is added, in non-descript cursive*

Isn't it nice how an entire force sacking a barely-manned temple is "bravery", but the same barely-manned temple taking on an entire force is "cowardice"?

I wonder what would happen, were this any other temple?

Oh. They'd fail, and be under Kelemvor.

Under Darthion's note, Warrick adds the following, additionally ensuring a copy gets to representatives of the Church:

Then I, Christophan Warrick of House Kenlyl formerly of Suzail, Cormyr do personally challenge you, Darthion Illys Imperceptor of Bane to single Combat to the Death, with the defeated foregoing any right to resurrection, raising, or return to the mortal realm. Instead, they know the Final Judgement of Kelemvor and the Afterlife thereafter, in finality.

Beyond this, terms may be set out per the appropriate protocols. I tire of tyrants like you claiming they have 'balls' when they have carried out the acts you have.

What is your reply, Sir.

After Christophan's most recent challenge to the notorious Banite, Darthion, the clerks of the Commonwealth's various ministries and even some of the citizens are in a tizzy.

"Christophan, what the hell are you thinking?" a clerk in the Ministry of Finance asks. "The odds are honestly stacked against you. That guy's killed a whole lot of adventurers, and you're just a bureaucrat!"

Clerks from the Ministry of Health and Public Welfare encourage him to think more about the people of the Commonwealth than pitting himself in mortal combat against the Banite monstrosity.

But there is no message from higher up. The South Cordor Reconstruction Plan has been submitted and is currently under review by what remains of a fractured Council.

"If we accept his claims that he 'has balls' , then how long until he feels he has what he needs to assail directly or indirectly the Commonwealth." he would reply.

"Your concern is noted friends, and I shall reconsider, but if I cannot have the courage to step up and challenge him, then who will? Adventurers? A dice game if I knew one. Our Guard by their duties cannot put themselves in danger until Cordor's soverign territory is threatened, yet a Strong force of Bane could become a threat to Cordor long before they directly come to our shores." he'd reply to them, now more deeply thoughtful adding.

"Bane would demand of him eventually the taking of what we have worked for thus far in the Reformation from us, something I will not see happen." he finishes, still thoughtful for now.

After some further thought, Warrick asks the following message be sent both publically and to the Banites:

'I Christophan Warrick of House Kenlyl formerly of Suzail Cormyr do recant my challenge. I do not do so out of fear however, but out of faith in the Commonwealth I serve, and duty to them personally. Nonetheless, I hope and pray that your Tyranny is brought to end, for it runs against everything which I have been raised to believe in, and everything which I hold dear both as an Eilistraeen, and as a serving Clerk in the Commonwealth of Cordor.'

After sending the message he sighs.

"You are right, friends: My first duty is to the people of the Commonwealth, even with the claims that muffin makes." he says before continuing his duties

To the Adventuring Populace of Amia,

Do not be decieved by the lies of the many, for the Black Caravan had given the Banite Church - and any other party - chance after chance to cease their warlike behaviours against the Black Caravan.

Initially, it came down to direct warnings against members of the Banite Church when they attempted ambushes against Black Caravan personnel. They were warned, directly, that continued assaults would not be tolerated.

When such assaults continued, the following public warning was given, allowing the Banite Church - had they the common sense to know an opponent against whom combat is pointless - a chance to end hostilities by simply walking away and remaining away from our merchantile operations.

To the Adventuring Populace of Amia,

The Black Caravan shall hereby resume its merchantile operations upon the Isle of Amia, and its exotic wares shall once again be brought to the Amian Isles for the free purchase of those wishing to truly outfit themselves for their long, arduous journeys.

However, there have been noted instances of open hostility, violence, and threats placed towards the Black Caravan by three parties whom must find themselves dealt with.

The Horsemen of the Apocolypse, the Church of Bane, and the Drow of Ultrinnan hereby are considered enemies of the Black Caravan for their aggressions against our organization. While at this time we will not step to war, any identification of such parties at our stalls will be dealt with swiftly and thoroughly unless certain terms are met;
i: A Public Apology to the Black Caravan for their actions.
ii: A Ten Million Gold (10,000,000GP) Payout or voluntary transfer of the individuals directly responsible for the attacks to our hands.

Should further hostilities, threats, or violence continue; we will deal with the issue thoroughly and without remorse.

This is an example of the Black Caravan's second warning against the Church of Bane. As can be seen by all, this warning was thorough, direct, and obvious in term. The Black Caravan as a merchantile operation spanning the entirety of the Trackless Sea hereby believes in trade alone, and will not engage in conflict of its own violition, unless pressured by a confirmed threat.

A third warning was given to Darthion Ilyss himself after hostilities had further escalated. The individual came to our stall to negotiate, and readily agreed to meet the - raised due to hostilities - thirty million gold pay out for a peaceful operation between the two parties. The individual whom claims to be an unwavering force readily agreed to submit to the Black Caravan's wishes - do allow this to remain readily in mind.

However, despite the aforementioned agreement, the Banite Church continued their hostilities - resulting in the following public statement against them;

The Black Caravan hereby offers a warning to those associated with the Church of Bane

In response to recent confirmation of hostile, and violent, intent against the Black Caravan - despite prior warnings that continued aggressions would result in open conflict - the Black Caravan hereby declares the Banite Church as active enemies to be dealt with severely.

The Banite Church were given partial leniency due to diplomatic endeavours, however openly hostile actions and threats against Black Caravan personnel and the organization, in addition to prior attacks and assaults upon our company, have earned the God of Tyrrany a direct opposer, to be eliminated in much the same manner as the Eternal Order of Benwick Hollow.

Should the Banite Church wish to save themselves of this fate - a minimum tribute of 50,000,000 gold pieces will be required to stow our blades. You will be crippled to prevent you from being a threat - whether that be financially or physically.

This notice comes directly from the Black Caravan Head Office.

This statement was given well beyond a month ago, giving the party ample time to determine their course of action and amass funds should they wish to pay the aforementioned price, or to initiate in negotiations. However, blinded by their pride, they instead fell to belief that it was a baseless statement - and that none would happen should they simply ignore the warning, and continue their hostilities and behaviour.

It is the Banite Church are the aggressors in this instance - the Black Caravan is hereby eliminating a threat to the personnel whom work to ensure this business thrives. The Black Caravan does not believe in 'bullying' as the term is phrased, however we reserve the right and resource to protect ourselves from those who would attempt to do us, or our allies, harm.

Shall great profits reign.

*upon any of Darthion's previous boasting notices around Amia Forest, Cordor, Bendir, or the Shrine, the following note can be seen put up alongside; from the styling, it's apparently some variety of song. Onlookers would probably say it had just appeared, as though either put up by someone under cover of invisibility or a shadowdancer*

The Ballad of Darthion

Darthion, the Inquisitor of Bane;
He wishes to see the Eilistraeen slain;
Why does he want this, you may wonder;
It's because Darthy made a tactical blunder;

In the forest, he wantonly killed;
Oh yes, much blood was spilled;
Until he met Reh'cra Salenor Kenlyl;
Soon after that Darthy took a spill;

Lead out quickly upon a chase;
The fat man cared not for his pace;
'Tis no surprise that the fat man fell;
Into the drow's traps, which were laid well;

Darthion, the Inquisitor of Bane;
He wishes to see the Eilistraeen slain;
Why does he want this, you may wonder;
It's because Darthy made a tactical blunder;

And so taken down by a skinny drow boy;
This situation Darth really did not enjoy;
He griped and moaned, gibbered and whined;
Looking for a way to salve his kicked behind;

Darthy tried to make Reh'cra take take the fall;
For murder of druid, drow, and innocents all;
Blaming the drow for his own foul deeds;
What a warped web such a twisted mind weaves;

Darthion, the Inquisitor of Bane;
He wishes to see the Eilistraeen slain;
Why does he want this, you may wonder;
It's because Darthy made a tactical blunder;

Yet now you know the whole of this truth;
The tale of the fall of this brute so uncouth;
Darthion seeks for all to lay the blame on the boy;
For the fact he stumbled over Reh's explosive toy;

Yet there is a lesson here for the wise to learn;
For such great knowledge so many do yearn;
Darthy has the agility of a drunk avoiding a slap;
If you want to take him, just lay down a trap!

Weston sees to that fliers that make way to Salandra's temple are removed and thrown away having become quite ill of the constant onslaught of the propganda. *Kratose Norseman reads the publically posted notes, his excitement begins to grow as Christophan Warrick of House Kenlyl openly challenges Darthion Illys to a fight to the death. He reads on, his excitement fades and his anger grows*

The Coward has recanted his open challenge?! This speaks volumes for the ways of Cordor, its blatant and open hostilities towards those that may disagree with them.

I wonder if it was this Christophan that wrote the note further up about having balls and the Banites being cowards. Openly degrading others and challenging them to the death, then recanting and hiding behind high walls is the absolute personification of the word 'cowardice'.

If this is the kind of behaviour the Commonwealth of Cordor accepts, then Cordor is truly the corrupt cesspool of lies and deceit that many believe it to be.

Re-issue your challenge and be a man of your word Christophan Warrick of House Kenlyl.

A certain blue-haired tiefling guard reads the various postings and notices that turn up in Cordor and, at some point, breaks out snickering and laughing at the back and forth postings.

It's cute that ol' Darthy is convinced that being able to beat up on some Pallys means he's special, or that he has balls. Oh what a fool. And good on Chris for remembering his duty to the Commonwealth. The people of the city should always come first with we who serve them.

He walks away tittering and snickering to himself. Later on his shift, and for several days after, he seems markedly a bit more cheerful and amused, and sometimes can be overheard humming or singing bits and pieces of the song mocking Darthion.

Darthion speaks to "having balls", but does not mention how easily they're taken away. He hides behind the spells he casts in the safety of sanctuary, making sure he's at full strength and power before coming out striking without showing his face before the first slash of his weapon.
Darthion may "have balls", but they are easily taken away with a Disjuction or power dispell. Once that's cast on him, he'll tuck tail between his then empty legs and flee to come back once he can rely on his spells again.

Though I once recanted the challenge, I will face you Darthion.

Weapons I propose be of choice, our battleground so long as it is unheld territory by either the Church of Bane or any entity which would expressly forbid entry to either yourself or I, I'll leave to your discretion, and as implied in my challenge, the combat is between you and myself. Any interference will not be tolerated on either side of this conflict.

Riala raises an eye as she sees the notices. "Intense..." she mumbled to herself. "But seems like Church of Bane is getting really cocky. Or desperate."

She decides to add her own notice, written in Draconic as always, though added on a separate sheet of paper this time rather than defacing an existing one:

I have watched you take your steps towards oblivion.
I have watched you fall away from the very life you seek to enslave.
You now face defeat and demise.
How will you meet it, I wonder?
Will you hold your sword high until the end?
Or will you hide behind your pride and ego like a bunch of filthy cowards, as you have so far?
You have piqued my curiosity.
I will continue to watch.
Though there is still hope to save yourselves.
There is still hope to realize that life isn't about tyranny and tyranny gets you nowhere but backed into a corner like a frightened animal.
Perhaps someday some of you will learn about values that do not actually deface yourselves.
If that day comes, I will be happy to help show you the way.
But I will not force you, as I will be no better than you are now if I did.

A draconic rune for "R" is placed in the bottom right of the paper, though by now it's fairly easy to guess who it's coming from.

Just like the fool who was chased out of the beholder caves, fully warded but guess what, was too scared to fight. Besides, didnt the black caravan kick your ass at your own temple and cause the avalanche around it? You talk all big right after getting whooped up, pathetic.

-Green scale

"You challenged me to a duel, which I accepted.

I slayed you, fair and square, at the spot... and as soon as you layed dead, your companions dare to dishonour the agreement.

After which they raise you, and together with them, you try to attack me... after I had already beaten you in the duel.

The result? I killed you again, together with your blue-coloured mage friend, who tried to get a cheap shot at me.

You make bold claims of me not having any courage.. or honour.

Yet you've now proven yourself to be the dishonourable filth you tried to make me out to be.

Disgusting.

You should be ashamed of yourself."

*another letter* you wouldnt fight me the first time I asked, backed down, it wasnt until I almost forced you into battle that you finally accepted, then running around hiding behind spells, if you want to see something pathetic then you only need look into a mirror.

"You almost humour me.

You seem to think, that I denied your first request to duel you, while I was in a conversation with a dozen adventurers in Amia Forest, who all tried to threaten me?

I care little for your pathetic being, and the fact that you still seem eager to be mouthy after I handed your ass to you on a platter, under circumstances where your actions, alongside your companions, were as close to as a cyricists as any.

You're a complete farse, and you've successfully managed to make a fool of yourself.

Try to gain some amount of humility, that goes in line with your obvious incompetence."

dont you already have that name? Since your entire following deserve the title after being spanked by the black caravan.
