*posters are put up in a variety of places across Amia, though none reach past Winya, or anything north of the elven city*

Be it known to ALL and Sundry

That the Elf Mage known as ALASTER

Being a Citizen of Winya Ravana

And member of the Winyan Military

BLASTED the sacred grove of Mielikki

DESTROYING much of the plant life

FOULING the air with the stench of rot and death

Using such spells as GREATER RUIN

NECROMANCY such as HORRID WILTING

EVOCATION such as ICE STORM

DIRECTLY onto the Duir Tree

With the INTENT to SLAY

MURDER

ATTAIN VENGENCE

On one who was standing below it.

The DUIR Tree stands undamaged.

But the DUIR grove has been ANNIHILATED

Life must rise from the ashes of DESTRUCTION

Peace will one day return

WINYANS STAY AWAY

*glances at a random poster in the woods and sighs, he pulls down the one's he finds, but undoubtedly misses many, and counters with his own posters*

Earlier this fore night the vile drow and known slayer of beloved Lila Is'def was spotted in the forests of Amia. I of course followed her after she left the woods near the crystal. A fight ensued between us and spells were used, but none that ever directly touched any part of the Duir's tree. Sadly some damage may have been done to the sweet berry bush however. This is 'not' an attempt to harm the Duir, this is not an attempt at war, a known murderous drow was being captured, and happened to go 'in the general area' of the Duir's tree.

I am truly sorry for any damage my spells may have done to the surrounding area's plant life, I hope by my actions I have saved others from this specific plagued drow....and Lila finally having her justice for the torture she had to endure.

Corellon Guide Us,
-Alastar Xylia

p.s. spells used by the drow included, but are not limited to Summoning Beholders, and Undead Wraiths, putting this drow down meant eliminating such threats as well. Greater ruin was only ever directed directly to her, and she was lured away from the Duir's tree before any spell was used that would have damaged it. It remains, physically, untouched.

Many seek war by spreading lies and false information, let's not give into their plots.

*during the deepest night, a dark-white mist seems to travel among the winds (or against them?), stopping here, and there amongst the Isle of Amia. Upon this sign, and it's response, the miasma seems to flow around, then obscure completely.

Then, any witnessing this strange event would see flashes of green colour, perhaps a green globe briefly, then nothing as the mist seems to flow onwards.

Left in its wake, the following can be seen posted*

That of which thou writes happens e'ery day in Amia if thou listen,
Amateurish, at best, the intent here glistens.
Speak more of the deeds done on this very ground,
In thy diatribes the truth will ne'er be found.

*Upon seeing the posters describing the events at the Duir Grove, and seeing the ridiculous rebuttal posters by the sorcerer Alastar, Dak frowns deeply, marches to his shop in the testing area and returns an hour later. He posts an addendum to the original posters and enspells them against tampering. Anyone attempting to remove a poster for the next seven days will have their hands turn a very bright blue, much like a Faerie Fire spell but only on the hands. It will wear off after several days, and can be dispelled with a DC25 check. No save and no SR, as the recipient must be touching the poster. The addendum reads:*

I, Dak Algar, Resident of Bendir Dale, Gnome, Mastercrafter, Mage, and Researcher. Do hereby attest that I did bear witness to the events of the sorcerer Alastar bringing wanton destruction to the Duir.

After seeing both the drow in question and Alastar leave Amia Forest and head west into the area of the forest populated by my misguided brethren. The drow fended off the gnome assassins that waylay travelers there and headed north to the grove, followed by the sorcerer with numerous protections upon his person.

Curious as ever, I followed and reached the grove in time to see the drow fending off the Sorcerer’s familiar psuedodragon who was breathing fire upon the drow and most of the Grove as well. The sorcerer continued to cast various spells trying to get through her natural resistance to magic, while the familiar continued it’s attack. She produced a summon of her own and battled the familiar, finally defeating it. After which she withheld her summon from attacking the sorcerer for several moments, when the sorcerer did not stop casting in the Grove, she charged him. Where upon the drow did run her blade through the sorcerers protections and out his spine, dropping his lifeless body to the turf.

She then produced a scroll and called upon the power of her diety. To my surprise, he responded to the drow deities call and came to life, where upon she bid him to partake of one of her potions which he accepted as well. As new strength flooded through him he cast the spell of Premonition and stated his intention to continue the fight. He then told her that the battle would be questionable because he dare not use powerful necromancy spells in the Grove.

When the battle began only moments later he cast a Time stop spell, and while under it’s affect, did cast in sequence Ice Storm thrice. I was shocked to come back to my senses and see the drow still standing and the horrible destruction laid upon the Grove. He then cast Greater Sancuary, and she summoned forth a beholder which proceeded to dispel his Greater sanctuary and knock him to the ground. After which he then fled to the south.

Several minutes passed as the drow searched the wood to the south and west of the Grove for the sorcerer. I again heard the sound of battle within the Grove and rushed to see what was transpiring to see the sorcerer finally best the drow with the spells Greater Ruin, Ice Storm, and not one but two castings of Horrid Wilting.

After seeing the sorcerer cast a curse upon the body, I then ported away and proceeded to Amia Forest to inform the protectors of what had transpired, meeting Eldainia and a dark elf named Sinder, who then left to see for herself.

It is with great sadness that I should witness the blatant misuse and disregard of life through the use of the weave as has been demonstrated by the sorcerer Alastar. It is my hope he receives the help he needs and is held accountable for his criminal actions.

A certain red-headed draconic reads over the notices with an almost bored appearance on his face, after which he marks Alaster's writing with a plus on the side.

Drakos, having seen the posts, decides to leave his own.

"The drow on Amia are an unchecked infestation that has been left to run rampant through the isles. I personally applaud the work of this Alastar. For the safety of what is on the surface, the drow on the surface do need to be culled.” Grinning to himself, the rogues adds one final note. “Save for a sweet few”.

*more words are added to some of the posters, the writer arrives to each poster, quietly and unseen*

Ask Lila and she will tell you it was a male that captured her. So the question is: was this a way to punish the druids for allowing drow in the forest or is Alaster simply insane. His lie covers his true intentions to punish the the druids by harming the forest otherwise he would have gone after the actual Lolthie who took Lila and waited until the drow was away from the Duir tree.

Yath. Preistesses of Lolth. Those that are actually allowed into Ultrinnan and live there. None of which was the case with the drow you went after fool.

*more written below*

...and you know the male drow supposedly wasn't under orders because...?
...you were there as it was planned, and now seek to manipulate the situation against me...which takes your credibility to absolute zero.

Even 'if' the drow involved are not of the Underdark, but exiles who seek to cause harm and pain, it was still a planned event, as was evident by the timing.

..seeing as you know so much of the inside details I take it I'm writing to a drow directly involved in her death. Care to sign a letter?

"Children Children, put your toy's down. Does proof of destruction exist? If so, do bring this proof forth, because I imagine with the power's being flung about if any spell was directed at any part of your precious tree's the damage would be pretty damned evident."

"As it stands, I think you all enjoy simply tossing words around. Because last time I saw Lila she was quite alive and well, also didn't have anything against Drow dispite her experience, or is this a case of "Amian Death". Where someone dies, but immediatly gets raised five minutes later?"

"Either way, bring forth proof or stop filling the bloody island with your damned notes. Paper is made from tree's people, if you care about them so much you wouldn't be murdering so many to make this many bloody notes."

Well, actually, it's usually pressed from organic matter (various plants) that has been farmed, harvested, and processed for the sole purpose of the creation of paper. Or from thinstretched animal skins (we call this 'vellum', children! The more you know!). But thats beside the point. I, personally, will punch in the face of anyone who would either do Lila harm, or shelter someone who did Lila harm from harm. So do think about what you're doing before you actually get around to completing the action, yes?

Now that I've gone ahead and said that, yes. Alastar has apologized for his actions, seemingly sincerely. He is a sorcerer, and as an innatist cannot be expected to act with the clarity of thought and discipline that wizards are famed for showing. All the power, none of the immensely hard work to obtain it. Despite this, he is actually a halfway decent individual (if you overlook or diminish a few of his more rashly made decisions). Quit arguing. Grow up. And start focusing on something thats honestly important, you ninnies.

*a few notations left around on posters seen. The leaves remain green and the ink was silvery as the words were left in Common, Elvish and Sylvan respectively*

The Dreaming tree, the Vibrant tree, offspring of the Duir most sacred. The valley of the idols where this occurred is indeed a holy place and there is no telling what damage was wrought with the Duir itself already in so fragile a state.

What is the strangest is that there are two places closer to Winya that any who wished the city harm could move around unchallenged but they continue to focus upon the forest. Those same places could offer a safer means to travel should any of Winya wish to journey through portals which is often how they enter the forest at all.
(Kampos and the northwest forest nodes, both less than a map from Winya)

Simply a thought. Alastar gave pardon but pardon will do little if the Duir finally dies and all the isle follows behind it. Perhaps it should be remembered that not everything can be restored to life with a scroll.
