*Hafur leaves these posters anywhere he thinks his kin might pass by*

Across the sea
In frozen lands
A mountain rises
Tall and cold

Two kinsmen stand
Forever watchful
Guarding our sacred home

Do not fear my dwarven kin
Come, seek out your rightful home
Come and get your mithril bar
From the mines of Barak Runedar

Our halls have never been threatened more
Not by Bane, nor by Drow
The gates will soon be covered in snow
And our home will be no more

Help us make this withered city
Rich with life as it is with ore
Do not let the chilly winds
Quench out the fire from the forge

Follow your heart and heed this call
Seek out the mountain tall
Come and get your mithril bar
From the mines of Barak Runedar

// If you're playing a dwarven character join the dwarven forums. Don't let this city/faction die. I know there's a lot of dwarves out there who don't even know Barak Runedar exists but now that you do know that it exists ask around in game and find out how to get there. Barak sure could use some dwarven love. (hint: It's abroad)

Cheers

Musings by Baden Ironblood (some IC, some OOC):

Loved the poem, like Dragonlance.

I have seen plenty of dwarves on Amia, but as you say, NOT in Barak Runedar. Many, if not all, are highly experienced (i.e. epic levels), but none have any wish to be associated with the place. It seems that they want to replace the current faction there or build a second one. Why? Of that I'm not quite sure.

I have found that the people who run Dwarves love playing them. Moreso than other races. We are the few, the proud. But why we don't claim Brog as our true homeland is disconcerting. Maybe if it was actually under attack by some malevolent force, things would be different. Drow, giants, a dragon.......who knows. But if there was a rallying cry to save Brog other than "We can build a better faction" I'm sure many would answer.

Right now as it stands Brog remains isolated in the outlands away from Cordor and its other cities. Many would say the dwarves prefer it that way, but I don't foresee any changes happening in Brog in the near future. We are politically and economically a non-entity, an afterthought.

Me personally, as an old, well-off dwarven businessman and adventurer, have offered to financially support dwarven clans' efforts to change this, but nothing has come of it. Safehavens, Stormbeards, none have been able to make a dent in this conundrum. I personally do not have the desire or time to lead any kind of change, but others who do can and should initiate the changes with the appropriate leaders (i.e. DMs and Amia's faction heads).

I look forward to helping with this situation and warmly welcome any others who wish to join this dialogue.

A potbellied dwarf can be seen mumbling in approval to the poem.

// Yush, we need a handful of active and eager dwarves to bring Barak Runedar back to life.

Infernal has been trying to grow some interest in the Dwarven business, so if anyone plays a dwarf character and wants to act a Sherlock Holmes, see here: http://www.amiaworld.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=39958

If you haven't played a dwarf before, I advice you to look up some information about dwarves and how the community works. Of course everything shouldn't be the same plain mass of similar characters; you're free to play your character like you want, as you should.

//I would also like to point out that being part of Barak Runedar doesn't mean that you are expected to stay on B-mia all the time. On the contrary, you are free to travel and go wherever you see fit. The only thing that is seen as a commitment is participating in meetings which are held once every other Sunday and they are quite fun. If you can't make it once in a while, no one will point fingers at you.

So, if you have a dwarf (of any level) introduce yourselves on the dwarven forum, stop by at Barak sometime... we can even arrange a meeting so that we can all be introduced properly(In Game). And if you're hesitant of making a dwarven character because you're worried others will call you stumpy, or short... don't worry, dwarves aren't short, everyone else is gangly.
