Lord Wiltun,

For some time now I have been wandering the Fortress and the areas around, taking notes of locations and how to get to them.

I also noticed that many visitors to the Fortress have difficulty trying to locate themselves and not always can find someone to direct them to certain locations which ends up making them stay in the Fortress and oftentimes causing more trouble than actually bringing gold to your pockets.

Having this in mind, I am offering to build one such map, but it will need a place to be posted at: it could be a board within the fortress or by the market, or within the inn.. your choice, if you really care enough about such an enterprise.

I can be found in Frozenfar, in the house just beside Ralten's Retreat.

Humbly,
~Rizzen of Twilight

Rizzen of Twilight,

It comes as a surprise to His Grace Lord Arsant Wiltun that the humble fortress proves difficult for visitors to navigate. These walls are small, as is the upcropping that serves as the launching point for the Ruathym Naval Armada. However, after reading your notice a time or two and piecing together what I can of your admirable Common, I believe you are reporting that travellers and adventurers are having some degree of difficulty exploring the entire southern region of Ruathym?

It is true that these areas have been mapped. However, these maps are almost exclusively for use by the military while Ruathym remains at war with the Luskanese. The threat of an invasion by land or sea is everpresent while their piracy abounds along the Trackless Trade Route, and any maps of the countryside that fall into their hands may very well be used to uncover locations where troops can be harbored and obfuscated until the time of a tactical strike.

His Grace Lord Arsant Wiltun, however, graciously acknowledges that cartography is a standard logistical science, and that such maps probably already exist in the hands of enterprising merchants working to formulate new trade routes. Therefore, He has extended to you the permission to craft just such a map for the singular purpose of display just outside the Hall of Fortress Wiltun. He promises that if the map is particularly well-done and a work of cartographical art, he may be willing to part with a commission for the service rendered.

If you embark upon and complete such a map, you may deliver it to me personally or by carrier.

Sincerely,

Master Parrico
