*A mysterious note is posted beside the bar. Small, neat handwriting covers the paper. The note reads:*

One cannot achieve mastery in their trade without a wise teacher. This fact is known throughout all the lands. Such is why I now seek a master. I have spent enough time learning on my own. I am ready for the next step.

There is a place to the North where we shepherds lead our flocks. Seek me there.

*Perceptive viewers notice a small, almost imperceptible bloodstain above the word "shepherds". It appears to have been deliberately placed.*

[[OOC: I play evenings and nights EST (GMT -5), most days.]]

A tall man, for a male of elven heritage, wanders into Kampos bar on his daily routine of alcohol consumption and watching the comings and goings of the people who visit there. Sitting at the end of the bar with his fine crystal goblet of blood wine he spies the small note and retrieves it with long ebony fingers and an arched white eyebrow.

Turning to the bartender, "What is this then?" Seemingly satisfied with the bartenders noncommittal shrug, he reads the note over. Conferring with the bartender yet again, "So, this 'Shepard' is merely a vague title and does not refer to anyone in particular, yes?" Taking the proffered grunt as agreement, "Oh, this is interesting and amusing. Hmmm, did you by chance spill something on this note? No? It always amazes this one how you can respond while your back is turned."

After a few minutes of examination the dark-skinned elf waves the bartender over for another drink. "Perhaps a glass of that amber colored drink, not the one that removes paint off the bar mind you, that was a dirty trick and this one will not fall for it again." Waving the note at the bartender, "See? This spot is blood, and see the tiny ridges in the dried liquid? It was applied by a mammal of some sort, impressive, no?"

"It is fortuitous that this Archmage is a master that is willing to teach a longing student", stated with a flourish of the note. "Now, lesson number one..." Holding up a finger to emphasize, "Scrying"

Lecturing to an audience consisting of one bartender and two patrons snoring under a nearby table, "Ordinarily scrying can be difficult." His natural smile stretches into a mischievous grin, "Unless one has something like a drop of blood to home in on, that just makes it simple." The grin fades and is replaced with a shocked expression as his hand covers his mouth momentarily, "This one hopes he is not residing is some secret base in the north, that would be... Awkward..." The last word devolving into laughter as the departs the bar.

"And you're sure he was a Drow?" The blonde elf stares intensely at the drunken man with bright blue eyes, her fingers tented and a small quirk in her cheek forming a half-smile. "From what you've told me, it sounds like you were drinking. Heavily."

The man makes an attempt to cover his mouth, but isn't fast enough. He belches loudly. "Yep. Ain't no mistakin' them, what with the black skin en' all. I kin see colors just fine n'matter how long I been drinkin'."

"And he was a Wizard?"

"Said 'e were an Archmage, n' that 'e were lookin' for a student." The man takes in the elf's attire, a midnight blue tunic reinforced with boiled leather. His suspicious gaze wanders to the elf's waist, where he notices at least three blades of varying lengths. "You a mage? Ya don't look it."

"No, I'm not," says the elf, tossing a few gold coins on the table and getting up to leave. Before the drunkard can say anything else, she's donned a hooded cloak and disappeared through the door without a sound.
