Those who found themselves in Tarkuul this day witnessed a rather unusual occurrence: the shape of an adult dragon burst out from the waters around the enclave, soared upwards to release a deafening roar, circled the Living City and finally landed somewhere in Tarkuul. The city's undead defenders seemed to react not at all to this, though many of the living inhabitants were a bit shaken by the sudden and startling appearance.

If one were to ask those who witnessed the event, some would swear that they saw a rider upon the dragon's back and that the massive creature just vanished instead of landing.

The Necromaster watched the curious sight with no small amount of interest. Once the figure 'landed' she returned to the temple scratching her head confusedly.

Rarely in Tarkuul may one gain glimpse of a Nighthaunt which has taken up residence in the city. Though showing no outward signs of hostility, the creature prowls in stealth and shadows, often stalking travelers and practitioners within the city bounds; often no more than eyes in the darkness, a fleeting figure, or a Gargoyle-esque silhouette atop some tall structure.

Watcher Bremmick stands at his usual attention near the castle, pausing during his daily patrol as he spotted the former High Captain. They greet each other, Bremmick with an awkward yet habitual salute, before conversing for a hefty chunk of the evening. Prying ears may hear talk of the direction of the city as well as the Living Guard, to which the guard answers with loyal honestly to his former leader. After some time, they depart with swift words and one last salute. The former high captain slips through the familiar wrought iron gates as Watcher Bremmick resumed his position next to the castle.

As Gerald takes his leave, a second unfamiliar dark clad figure slips into the court. She had nothing to show for herself save the fitted black robes on her back. Ambling through the court, she paused by the castle for several minutes. Her intent seemed innocent enough as hidden eyes gauged her surroundings. Hastily she approached Bremmick, inquiring about the Magesterium Mortis. He directed her towards the Tower of the Damned, and as quickly as she had arrived she vanished in favor of her destination.

Meanwhile, several of the novice denizens who remained after being freed from Underdport contribute to the daily notions of the city. Many, who are skilled at more menial tasks, offer their hands wherever possible. A vast proportion begin working shifts for Udok in The Kraken's kitchen, where they cook and prepare much of the menu. Others try their luck at book keeping or assisting others by way of running small errands. Wherever their minimal skills can be utilized, they tend to hover.

As for the city itself, it continues to bustle with effervescent energy. Projects and endeavors continue with the utmost dedication. Hands are found whenever they are needed. Life moves on for the city of undeath.

One was only left to wonder just what the coming cycle will bring.

That drow male in the expensive attire, leathers with an ornate breast plate lately, keeps showing up in the Living City. Most recently as escort it seemed along with the Magistrate as a Nighthaunt arrived at the portal. The group finding their way to the crypts eventually.

Rith'tars manner towards those he encounters is his usual polite yet serious. Havoc would see him most frequently as the drow warrior brings in items the blacksmith would be interested in. Most of the communication is done in silence. Hand and facial gestures would be all that was needed to conduct business. Especially since it's not common for Rith'tar to speak in common as he seems to prefer speaking in drowish.

So, when Rith'tar suddenly starts speaking common after a time speaking drowish to a male and female drow, Havoc seemed to take notice. In a distinctly drow fashion Rith'tar had taken the other two drow to task for their rude manner regarding Havoc. Apparently, Rith'tar took offense at Havoc being referred to as a slave. Rith'tar also suggested that they familiarize themselves with the Laws.

After the other drow depart it seems Rith'tar is looking for someone or something for he is seen in every part of Tarkuul. No telling if he found it for one moment he's there the next all that's left is a fading portal effect.

Havock indeed takes notice of the Drow after a long day of brooding and tedious labor. As Rith'tar and his companions converse in their unfamiliar tongue, the hulking blacksmith casted curious glances few and far between. As was the norm, however, he remained silent unless spoken to - in a language he understood. He watched on briefly as the jaluk seemed to be repremanding the female of the gathering. An amused smirk tugged at Havoc's mouth as she became enraged and left via portal. Even more amusing was when the audacious drow jumped into the portal after her moments later.

For the following days to come, the blacksmith takes note of Rith'tar's frequent excursions but makes no point of actively investigating. He simply continues his arduous work over the furnace and minds his business.

Many of Tarkuul's residents and visitors begin to see the sight of a jovial little girl, who is almost always cited running about and hiding behind or between fixtures in the Court of the Living. Several incidents of conversing bystanders being thwarted by her impish little tricks become commonplace for the denizens of the Living City. To all that ask, she introduces herself as Annie. She seems to be in a perpetual search for a playmate, instead resorting to 'scaring' the older adults

Late one evening, her tricks seemed to have finally come back to haunt her. As she jumped out from behind a pillar to spook a passing mage, he turned and politely introduced himself. He made amiable conversation with the young girl before promising to show her 'things she had never before seen.' The coercion seemed enough for her as he beckoned her into a portal.

Several hours later, from the same portal departed three men and a young child. Two of the men held onto a weeping and shaking Annie as the other was limp with death. The winged one of the pair strew the unconscious man over his shoulder as he returned Anabell to her home. The pair were then seen speaking with Havoc before dropping the corpse of the assailant in the crypts prior to their departure.

The Governor had come to the Living City in the dwindling hours if the night. He found Havoc in his usual spot, wondering if Havoc ever truly rested, toiling over the forge. They spoke inky briefly, and soon he had entrusted his sword to it's original craftsman for reforging.

But before he could leave, something from his past confronted him.

A spectral figure clad in the uniform of the Living Guard appeared before him as if to accuse him, finally, for the life he had been cost... but instead he only saluted. It wasn't long before Gerald revealed the fate of the spirit to itself, a casualty of war. Anger and confusion drew several more spirits from their places, and the Governor fell to his knees helplessly.

Pained apologies were offered and words spoken in return before the Governor could speak further... and the spirits left.

And again... Gerald as alone.

In some contrast; the Legate of the Living City is rather more active, albeit perpetually distracted.

Her time seems to be split working with the Living Guard garrison in shifts, apparently working towards a full evaluation of the armed forces of the enclave. Other times however; she is completely absent, disappearing through the portal platform somewhere, only to return later reeking of the sea.. While there is little explanation for what is going on, at any one point in time half the Guard while not on patrol would be either run through combat exercises, or taken in groups to the castle to get them to perform various mental tests. Visitors to the Castle might find the Legate overseeing groups of soldiers in states of meditation, or quizzing them on various bits of seemingly unimportant information, such as what they would do in a certain situation, or what some knot or other would be used for.

Seemingly, the Legate is making a conscious effort of coaxing forward the strongest, brightest, or most loyal amongst the Guard.

In Grim's absence, the city continues to drone with activity and - ironically - life. The taxing population of refugees and freed slaves make their drain on the city's resources well worth it as they work more often than not through leisurely hours of the day. The children often attend lessons in the Academy when they are held as their guardians rush off to an honest day's labor.

Asya's frequent disappearances and absent mindedness quickly follow up with the quiet promotion of one Watcher Bremmick to Centurion, in which he promptly handles the paperwork and official duties of the Living Guard while the Legate focuses on other (likely more important) matters.

An odd and quiet women appears to frequent the Court of the Undying, moving to and fro and the Castle and Undercroft as she preforms her daily duties in the library. Her bloodied and decaying wings flop lifelessly beside her as she ambles through her day, engaged in quiet study or even aiding curious passerby's of the library. Many pause to admire or perhaps oggle in disgust at her perpetually deteriorating wings; patches of ivory feathers drenched in crimson or otherwise bald spots in which there was nothing left at all.

At some point during her stay, she disappeared into the High Archanist's office only to return with a familiar list of questions in hand. For the next following cycles, people would see much less of this oddity of a woman as she pursued answers to the inquiry.

A legacy forgotten... Years of hardship worn like a badge... The woman no longer a reflection of her past, but instead an unrecognizable stranger to her future...

The eery darkness of the Living City would reveal the silhouette of a female stranger with lengthily dark curls spilling into the folds of her blood-red velvet cloak, as she passed through the massive doors of Castle Tarkuul.

Rith'tar seems a frequent visitor in the library. While it's not clear what he's looking for he seems intent in going through every single tome. Often muttering to himself quietly his baritone buzzing softly.

After a lengthy time in the Tarkuul's Grand Library, Fedora strolled along the dirty streets for only a short time before encountering one from the Living Guard. Those within hearing distance might have overheard her asking about the Magisterium Mortis, wherein she was advised to seek out one known as Lucius. Description given "He could be a puddle of rotting flesh"

A familiar librarian takes notice of Rith'tar's frequent visits, her putrid wings hanging lifelessly at her sides as she watched him peruse the library endlessly. She only wondered how long it would take for him to find what he needed. Perhaps she should assist?

Should Dmitra pry more into the books, she would find that the last one on Library record to have checked out near any book in the library in which temporal matters were discussed was the Legate of the Living Guard. Who had repeatedly checked out these books the previous year. Repeatedly, even. Apparently having studied them in depth.

If Dmitra would ask anyone in the Guard, it was quite publicly known within the Enclave's Guardsmen that Legate Goodmonsdottir is something of an expert on temporal matters, owing to the nature of some war or other.

Later Holo Jarian analyzes a bit of rotten flesh in the laboratory, and comparing it against a surprisingly large sample of cut-in-half goblin heads from a bag of holding ... If asked about this, he would say that he wondered why anyone would bother to raise a goblin as a zombie ... Was there a more pathetic combination?

In the Library of Tarkuul, a well-known, bespectacled shifter extends a kindness to a traveler by teaching them rudimentary common as best he can. The lesson was extremely basic, but well thought-out and very extensive. Towards the end, the "Two" spoke the common number scale and alphabet, complete with scribing practice.

Holo Jarian can be seen opening a letter delivered by an undead guard. He reads it with great interest, his live arm grasping his sword hilt in anticipation. After his excitement cooled down a bit, he walks away to find a more secluded place. He stumbles on the way, almost falling to his knees. He stands up quickly, but some of his face was literally torn by a silent scream.

He drinks one of his potions, he walks on, no more carefully than usual.

A man dressed in dark attire and cowl was seen entering the library. It was not clear what the man was looking for or if he even knew at the time. He seemed a little out of place, not a robed wizard or scholar but a simple woodsman in appearance.

His choice books were that on matters of the occult, language, history, culture, medicine and poisons. Such a variety of topics would lead one to question what morals are lacking under his seemingly soft demeanor.

Eventually a tome containing scrolls of divination spells was lifted to his table, he studied its contents to the fullest.

After some long discussions and a chance encounter with a highly talented cleric, Holo Jarian seems restored to his former fragility rather than being close to the undesired form of death ...

One with dark attire and cowl was seen again, this time visiting many locations within the Living City. General inquirys, research as well as examination of nearly everything. Information regarding the city itself seemed to be his priority on the visit; in particular was the memorium obelisk located outside of the Tower of the Forsaken. He took great care in sketching the draconic runes for later reference.

Later, the same figure was seen visting the temple of Shar. He knelt in veneration of the Nightsinger, his opal encrusted helm glinting in the darkness. An offering was made, a Ring of Selune left upon the altar. He then departed, resuming his research of the city for a while longer.

Following the event in the death of the merchant, intermittently a darkly clad individual walks through the gate of the city.

At periods it can be witnessed watching the court of the living by the ghostly kraken, lingering about.

At another occasion a visit was made to the temple of jergal, The God of finality and ultimate ending. Descending into the depths, none witnessed what had transpired in that time.

As quickly as the presence came, it left just as quickly. However a note was left in attention for an individual in one of the offices, which office it was is hard to discern.

Within the halls of The Magisterium Mortis one marked as Novitus can be seen inspecting what equipment is held within the tower. Taking note of each workstation he familiarizes himself with the layout, writing notes as he explores.

Later this Novitus could be seen tempering himself with knowledge in the Library. Moving about with clear purpose, the selection were publications regarding both the arcane and divine. With ink and quill he takes extensive notes, making sure to capture the fundamentals and essence of the scriptures. His presence was quiet, silent, uttering not a single word.

Sometime after, the Novitus wandered throughout the Living City, stopping upon the temple of the Nightsinger to admire the art.

Under cover of night a ship under black canvas sails into Tarkuul's docks, disgorging dozens of Living Guard soldiers back into the Enclave. Some return to the residential tenements, knocking on doors to tearful greetings of loved ones. Some of those less lucky to have loved ones survive the last war simply return solemnly to the barracks.

At the head of them, Legate Goodmonsdottir returns and marches towards the towers. Stacks of papers in hand, and a strange chill in the air surrounding her.

In the bowels of the temple of Jergal, a room is lit by a solitary candle. The air is dry and still. Sparse furnishings punctuate the floor - a few chairs, desks and books. The walls are bare stonework, misshapen rocks imperfectly placed on top of each other but sturdy nonetheless. And in the corner sits- The candle's flame sputters, flickers, then disappears. Darkness. The sound of a creaking seat, followed by the scraping of a drawer and a crackle of a match. The light returns. With its advent, a large figure is revealed to be hunched over a desk in the corner, watching a trail of smoke wind its way towards the ceiling. He deliberately returns the matches to the drawer as though trying not to crush them, pushes the drawer closed, then returns to a large tome in front of him. He has been here for a long time, and will be here for much longer yet.

His lips are red, his eyes are silver and his hair jet black. His snub-nose reveals orcish heritage, yet his complexion is pale and smooth. His chair seems an insufficient seat for such a large frame, yet he sits without complaint, wearing unassuming brown robes. He dips his quill in an ink pot and places the black tip on the parchment, pausing a moment in thought. The undead here are not sanctioned by the Lord of Bones, nor are they or their necromancers duly recorded. There seems to be no order to the place, and that's unnatural. It's dangerous. It's heretical. The quill finally scratches its way across the surface, resuming his writing. He has a lot of work to do.

A man clad in spikes was seen entering the desolate Temple of Shar. His apparent panic was met only with complete isolation, for inside those halls there was nothing. His steps slowed to a crawl, failing legs carried him to the centre of the Temple before buckling, dropping him to his knees. He had lost much in his life, but now he had lost the Lady of Loss herself. Consumed by the darkness, there was an unbridled agony that he had not felt before, and thus he wept.

Wandering aimlessly through the halls, Fymor rambled to himself in a litany. Fighting a voice that began to occupy his mind, his tone ranged from aimless fury to passionate sorrow, lamentations echoed throughout the cavernous hallways. With unexplained motive, he placed an unlit candle where the altar used to be; to him the darkness only grew further. Eventually he departed with a sense of newfound purpose.

Several hours later he returned to the site to collapse upon the stonework. Exhaustion overtook the human as he succumbed to a deep sleep. The man's right thigh was bandaged with fresh wound, his face withered as if hell had visited the very doorstep of his soul.

A darkly robed figure moves from the Temple of Velsharoon and with a hurried pace she makes her way to the Court of the Living. Following closely behind her is a Greater Mummy carrying a stack of books. For the keen-of-eye, they seem to entail the theoretical practice of the school of evocation. The figure and her accompanying Greater Mummy made their way into the Tower of the Forsaken and were seen entering the evocation annex.

Two figures entered the now empty Temple of Shar, not speaking until within the darkened sanctum. Quickly they move through the place, making their way upstairs where they speak of the sudden vacancy of the place. One figure, moving swiftly and clearly having been prepared for the forthcoming actions, places numerous candles through out the entire building, lighting them as she goes.

Back downstairs, at the location of the former altar, she does the same, except she also lights a burner of incense as well, filling the air with the sent of sage, sandalwood and roses. Her companion utters a prayer, leaving her own mark upon the altar as well as a few lit candles. Before heading out, however, the first individual pauses, then with a bit of struggling produces an enormous bag from within her bag of holding and spreads a copious amount of rainbow colored glitter all around. Once the last fleck of glitter drifts down, the two turn on their heels without a look back at the sparkling, softly lit area.

Whoever the two figures are their dealings were not unnoticed. It would seem others hold interest in the building. Not stepping inside after them the eyes of the Magistrate of Tarkuul watches from behind the skull mask.

A recent arrival of two dragonkins and one robed humanoid resulted only in seeing them establish in a Kraken tavern - apart from the arrival, the robed one has not been seen outside his room.

Lately tonight, however, he entered the barracks of the Living Guard where he took the application form - only to dissapear again to the Kraken Inn.

In recent weeks, a black-masked Tiefling has been seen coming and going in the Court of the Living picking up contracts for the assassination of several individuals through a shady intermediary found in the Kraken Inn.

Few words are spoken but this individual is seen almost every week. Patrons talk and some think the Tiefling is a hired contact killer. Other claim that this individual has nowhere else to go and simply plies his murderous trade.

However, no one can truly sift through the sea of lies to find out the truth as the Tiefling does not exchange pleasantries with any of the residents or the regulars of the Kraken Inn.

A Seeker wearing obfuscating robes and a mask of porcelain is seen peering intently at notices and information about the Magisterium Mortis.
He'd note the headmaster's details, and then proceed onward toward the Court of the Undying.

A lucky individual with burnt hands and decaying skin is seen carried through the halls of the Castle by a Angel of Decay, escorted by Lucius Blackwater.

A lone figure garbed in black utterly concealed by scarf, mask and hood was seen entering through leyline. The figure strode into the Court of the Undying, proceeding into the Triune Towers to linger there for a period of time.

A robed man shambled through the gates of the city last eve.

Coughing and spluttering with times of requiring rest, often backed up with scrolls of fortitude to keep the Ill health at bay.

After a conversation with one of the magisterium Arcanist he sets into the library for further information.

Three figures step into Tarkuul from the portal- Dirk Longstride, Vorax of the Black Pearl, and a tiefling woman wearing red. They walk with a sense of duty to the Kraken, and up into an upstairs room.

About 15 minutes after entering the Kraken, they burst out of the tavern and run through the city as if looking for someone. They collect themselves as they were previously and re-enter the Kraken and do not appear to leave as they came in.
