Suggestion: If possible, allow the skills Bluff, Persuasion, and Intimidate to substitute for the Taunt skill when making use of the Taunt ability, if those skills are higher.

Implementation: The Taunt ability may be hardcoded. If so, a freely available widget that recreates the same ability would be the alternative. Given that Taunt is a full-round action, it would also work the same. The only issue is that a widget would not be usable by shifted characters.

Balance: Making the Social Skills usable as Taunt is straightforward enough as it is an effect that already exists in game. The three or so classes that have decent builds for Taunt(Bard, Barbarian, Paladin) shouldn't become any stronger; the suggestion is that the skills can substitute for Taunt, not stack with it. The area of potential increase would be for things like Weapon Master(Intimidate), melee Pale Master and Dragon Disciple(Persuade), and certain Rogue and Monk builds(Bluff/Persuade). The first few honestly don't worry me that much because those builds could already become Taunt-users with the often-taken dip into Bard. Rogues and monks have an abundance of skill points though so it could be a boost to them if they choose to throw ranks into them. However, neither is generally a front line class. If a Rogue or Monk is taking a full-round, flat-footed action that removes you from Stealth and draws aggro... maybe that's a fair risk/reward?

Future Steps: Getting the skills to function in a Taunt widget is good enough. But if there was a demand for it and it could be balanced, it would be possible to have the effect of the "Taunt" further reflect the skill the PC was using. In example, instead of a 30% chance of Spell Failure, Feint(Taunt using Bluff) might give a 30% Miss Chance and so on.

Anyway, build-crafters, do your thing. If there's some broken Epic Reputation cheese I'm missing, let us know  . Otherwise, this may be a simple way to allow the skills some impact. It's kind of a shame that any PC wishing to use some sort of social mojo is forced to spread between 3 separate skills, then has no real way to use any of them without a DM present.
