This came to me as my character was gifted a cloak which he very much intends to keep and wear almost at all times, but it has a VERY bright yellow light source in it, and I tried to remove that property with the Mythal crafting system. It cant be done, because since the item is considered "too powerful for crafting" by the system, I cant have the dialogue option to remove the light source (since there is already a light source in the item, I also cannot apply any light gems to it to try and go from the yellow to a less annoying color).

I am not sure if I am missing any case in which it could be "exploited" if the Mythal System allowed for removal of any POSITIVE attribute from ANY item, regardless of the level of power in it?

Opinions?

Seems like it might be easier to just have it be a separate thing that you can do at a mythal forge without even needing a mythal item. Just talk to the object or attending NPC, select a certain permitted property on a designated item, BAM, that property is gone.

That said, I'm not sure if that's easier or just altering the parameters of the existing mythal system is easier. Altering the existing would certainly be cleaner.

A separate option to just remove properties would also work very well IMHO. I think it should consume a Mythal in the process tho, if only just to keep the system "making sense". It would also not require to change NPCs, just allowing the Mythal to trigger the conversatio (or so I think). For example, when you use a Mythal on any item, you would get one menu before the one currently ingame: It would ask you if you want to perform any enchanting OR remove a positive attribute. If you choose enchanting, it would lead you to the existing menu (and still send the "Sorry, the item you are trying to enchant is too powerful" if that is the case), if not, it leads you to a Property Removal menu that ignores the power level of the item.

Wouldn't it also be reasonable to say that in the case of such an epic item the light source is an intrinsic property of the overall enchantment and you shouldn't tinker with toys the gods made for you? There are many items in the game which bring great benefits with minor penalties or annoyances, this seems to be one of those, maybe just stick to mythaling items that don't already give huge bonuses.

If you have another item with light properties and you equip it while you have your cloak on, it should overwrite the light source from your cloak. You might be able to play around with some other colours, as well as how bright or dim the light is. I'm not sure though, this is just what I remember from playing around with the light gem items.

The item I am mentioning specifically is a Cloak of The Swan (+4 AC, +2 CHA) and I dont think its an epic item but I am really not sure.

Yeah that's just a tier 4.5 item, basically; one of the Djinn Merchant items. I think DC gear gives the same response, so maybe it's cause it's flagged something special? Not sure how that works.

Yeah. The Djinn gear can't be mythalled (save the gloves, I believe) - so can't remove properties afraid. It's in their contract of use, or something!

I think removing light properties is a very common request, and should be a very easy enchantment to remove, considering continual flame is so low. So maybe ask the devs to straight up just add that to the mythallar? "Remove Light property"
