A mountain giant has been seen wondering through the Amia Forest..belching forth songs that are more akin to a rock fall in the Crags then any known melody. He seems harmless enough...

Having heard of a possible bard sighting in the woods, Selithe sighs loudly and decides to attend to business elsewhere for a while, leaving bards for the other protectors to deal with.

Rusty the ranger leaned against the tree, considering the idea of a giant bard, fingering the blade of his scythe as he thought. He looked down at his badger, little Florina, and considered, maybe this big fella just wanted some friends. Flicking his chubby and perfectly human tongue out like a snake, he whispered to his little animal companion. "Does you see it, Florina? He sings songs, yessss, but does not sing songs of you or me. We shoulds talk to him, ya?"

The badger was dutifully cleaning her toes, not at all listening to Rusty, since she didn't understand him, but enjoyed when he talked to her.

"Yessss, you are most wise, forest friend. We should track and say hi-hi. Maybe make him flute out of rib I take out of drow." Clapping his hands lightly for the badger to follow him, the tiefling went to find tracks, with a mind to befriend the singing titan - and in his own warped mind, the song would probably sound lovely.

Last eve, Gruck was rudely awakened by adventurers. They were following his footsteps and battling a series of nasty Bug critters. As the group came upon the sleeping Giant, they climbed the wall and with little stealth woke him.

The Giant was as pleasent as a mountain Giant could be...under similar circumstances. He informed the party that there was a hole behind the ruins and that He had been camping there to keep the critters from swarming out.

As the group of Hin led by Lyle Torrowfire and one Krin Shadowflame were discussing the filth in the hole, many nasty spiders poured forth. In the fight, the giant was laid low. He was healed by the heroes, but doesn't know anymore about the incident. It appears that they went in to deal with the problem.

Lyle Torrowfire had originally just intended to get Perry a helmet. And, why not, invite his foster daughter Sally along for the walk. Things had been getting quiet back in the Dale, and as much as he loved peace, a little excitement would be nice. The trio set out from the Dale, heading north into the forest, and eventually toward a hidden little cave, where a gnome peddled his helmets. Of course, how exactly Lyle found out about this little cave was a mystery to the hin, as he never even wore a full helmet. While Perry made his selection, Lyle spoke with Sally about her recent problems with a certain criminal element, reassuring her he'd take care of it. And it was about that time that Krin Shadowflame popped up out of nowhere, talking about giant tracks. While he and Perry vanished into the forest, Lyle waited back for Sally to finish her shopping before joining them outside, where they were attacked by bugs.

Many bugs. Strong bugs, too. Fire beetles and brown beetles seemed to be the weakest, while the spiders were tough. In fact, while he could kill one of the spiders by himself, it took quite awhile because they were so good at dodging his blows. Even when one would normally land, they managed to get out of the way just in time. And things didn't help that Perry and Sally weren't as seasoned of adventurers. Nonetheless, Perry bravely continued to fight, while Sally sung them songs of inspiration. And Krin, of course, would toss a spell or two. For his own part, Lyle discovered the beetles would usually die in one mighty thrust of his dagger, while the spiders would dodge occasional attacks that should've landed, like many of the more agile residents of Amia seemed capable of doing, when they were in a fight. And it still bugged him. ((intended))

The tracks led the four passed the temple of Malar, and to a set of ruins that were blocked off from the rest of the forest, which it would take either a winged person, or a particularly dedicated climber to scale. And near the ruins was a giant, sleeping peacefully with its massive head sheltered from the elements by a tent. Lyle was the first to climb over, requiring a boost from Perry to get up, then pulling the other hin up as well. Krin turned into a giant, however, and stepped over it, carrying Sally with him. Lyle poked the giant, Gruck, until he awoke, and questioned them. Much to Lyle's surprise, they were all on the same side, here. The giant hated the bugs as much as they did, and was actually guarding a hole from where they were coming from. As a matter of fact, the only reason the bugs got passed him was that the giant had to sleep sometimes. After all, the poor boy was only mortal. The bug jumped all of them, and the giant died. Luckily, a raise dead scroll was present, and the four raised him. Seeing the cavern as dangerous, Lyle dispatched Sally and Perry to Bendir Dale, to possibly find any reinforcements.

Just after Krin and Lyle went below, Sally and Perry reappeared with Drudo, a member of the militia. The five of them slowly progressed through the caves: the spiders were a real pain to hit, but Lyle, Drudo and Perry (between their three-way assault) were able to hit it too much for the spider to dodge. A hooded man soon paused them, ordering the five to go back up top. He continued to say they were interfereing with something, and how they should leave before they anger his master. The hooded man continued this little speech until our five heros finally murdered him. The rest of the cavern was more of the same exoskeleton clad menaces, with Lyle and Krin pausing every once in awhile to hurl insults at one another. Before the two could come to blows, however, a mind flayer appeared. Lyle, rather than listening to the creature, instead just tried to attack it, managing to hit it once or twice before it cast a Time Stop spell, and fled. Eager to get home as soon as possible, the four hin and Krin went their separate ways.

But once in Bendir Dale, any resident or visitor could hear Lyle ceaselessly badmouthing Krin.

Bleary eyed and tired, Gruck moves through the forest with the subtlety of a troll dance party. He seems to be looking for something...or someone!

//the insults were very entertaining...hehehehehehe

edit: off topic

For a number of days after, Sally could be heard telling anyone who would listen about her duet with the singing Giant, and, even more proudly, how her Foster-Father Lyle so nearly slew an Illithid.
